Reviews for Vienna Hotel

Review 1:Bedroom view on a broken/abandoned building (hotel entrance entirely unaffected). It did not disturb me, but some may not like that.

Review 2:Close to a central metro station, market, restaurants and cafes. Walking distance from most archeological sites and museums. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful street art work on the side of the building. Not the cheapest rate, but for Athens and for the service it seemed good value.

Review 3:The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were a little basic but spotlessly clean. The price we paid for our 4 nights in Athens was an amazing bargain as we were so close to all the sights. Having read bad reviews about the breakfast we were expecting it to be really poor. It wasn't! Fresh bread, cheese, jams, yoghurt, toast, croissant, coffee and juice. That's enough for me. The area is a bit seedy but we never felt threatened and as there are many more expensive hotels in the area, I would say that the Vienna is good value for money.

Review 4:Street nearby is noisy, bathroom is a bit outdated, breakfast could have been more creative.

Review 5:Okay location, walking distance from Omonoia metro (5min) and Monastiraki (15min), friendly staff, simple stay, nothing fancy, okay value for money.

Review 6:This is a convenient and reasonably priced place to stay overnight, but don't expect too much. The staff are friendly, but the breakfasts are unexciting and the nights not particularly restful. The view from the balcony is interesting.

Review 7:Only stayed one night, leaving the hotel. Very bad area nearby. At night the street below the hotel, were trouble individuals. The elevator did noise all night, did not sleep at all. From early morning the cleaners made a lot of noise and did not stop after my recommendations for quiet. I stayed in the shower with suds after the water stopped. Asking the manager at the front desk told me sarcastically that water does not always reach the upper floors. Breakfast was a poor dish, unacceptable.

Review 8:Very bad

Review 9:I didn't like the fact that people said that the neighborhood is terrible. Most of Athens is pretty poor. This neighborhood is indicative of the city and I didn't have any troubles at all.

Review 10:Staff is wonderful. Clean room and located close to metro as well as self service laundry. Gyro joint just up the street is awesome.

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:The location of this hotel is great, just a few steps away from Omonia Square, in walking distance from Plaka and Monastiraki. Rooms are very clean; staff is very friendly and helpful, they gave us a map and all the information we needed.

Review 13:The only thing I didn't like is the fact that our room did not have a hair dryer.

Review 14:The staff was super helpful! they provided us with a map and great directions to get to every place we wanted to visit. The hotel is located walking distance from the Acropolis, main attractions and the metro station.

Review 15:Seems like this hotel has seen better days- not many people staying here and could use an update. Air conditioner was insanely cold and could not be aimed away from the bed

Review 16:Good location for such a cheap nightly rate although it doesn't feel like the nicest area, it is very close to more touristy parts of athens

Review 17:I had a room facing the street, which is busy. Alot of noise during the night, people shouting in the streets. No soundproof windows ;) The hotel is not to blame, but I hardly slept a minute due to the noise.

Review 18:Only stayed for one night to catch a flight in the morning. Close to the Omonia metro, and within walking distance of shopping streets and Plaka etc. Nice staff, comfy beds, wifi good. I see many people say it seems like a bad area, but I have stayed in the Omonia area several times, and always felt safe.

Review 19:Drug addicted people in neighborhood, but it's city center and I've heard in Athens police don't fight with drugs that much (it's not about hotel, but families with children shouldn't walk in the night there).

Review 20:Very nice people in hotel, gave us map and printed flight tickets for free.

Review 21:The breakfast consisted mostly of white bread and jams which was dissapointing the hotel is right next to a bad neighborhood that you should avoid, on your way to the restauraant area The toilet in our room made the sound of a space-shuttle taking off every time you flush. the wi-fi did not work well with all the devices

Review 22:The staff was very helpful with great english, did everything to help us get around town, supplied us with a map with very helpful information and gave great recomendations The hotel is within walking distance from most tourist attractions and is very close to the subway

Review 23:The down side it's a bit far from the acropolis zone. and the showers are not for large people.

Review 24:Really nice people, helped us with every thing we needed, as for the room, we stayed for ower first night at Athens and for one more when we finish traveling in the area, it's good enough for a night, it's in a centered area.

Review 25:The down side is that it's 15 minutes walking to the acropolis zone. and the showers are not made for large people.

Review 26:It was terrible dirty and bad smelly. We booked the room with double bed but we did'nt get it. All the kitchen was blight and dirty, rusty. The furniture falling apart, and etc....

Review 27:Nothing to tell the true

Review 28:The staff was really nice and very helpful! We had a problem with renting a car on Sunday in the middle of the season ant they solved it really professionally.

Review 29:The first night, I kept hearing a loud sound every once in a while during the night (maybe about once an hour) that sounded like a car horn or something kind of like that, almost like it was coming from within the room, and it kept waking me up. The guy at the front desk didn't know what it was and couldn't do anything unless I thought it was from the room next door, which is not what it sounded like. The second night was much better, I think I only heard the sound once or twice in the beginning of the night. In any case it was pretty weird and very annoying.

Review 30:Breakfast was poor. Not a choose what you would like but sufficient to start your day.

Review 31:Friendly and very helpful staff. They made you feel welcome. Great location. Ease access to all sights.

Review 32:The breakfast was a little basic but anything is good in the morning as long as your not expecting too much. The area was a little dark at night and seemed like it's a place you should be careful.

Review 33:Wifi was excellence and all the staff at the reception were amazing. Friendly every day and happy to help with anything we needed.

Review 34:The hotel’s neighborhood is not the most representative one.

Review 35:This place offers everything you need for one night stay: location-in the center of Athens and close to the Omonia station, availability of staff and good value for money.

Review 36:The wifi wasn´t working sometimes (but it was not more than twice a day) and there was a lack of possibilities to store eg. laptop to a save place (safe, locker...)

Review 37:The stuff was absolutely friendly and helpful!

Review 38:The breakfast was very simple, mostly bread but the bread was fresh and couldn't complain at the price!

Review 39:We really liked the help from the front desk as they showed us where to go!

Review 40:No stopper for the bath tub, which means I could not take a bath. We were not informed that day-time use was available at the half price until the checkout so we paid the full amount anyway for several hours.

Review 41:The staff was kind and helpful via email.

Review 42:Bathroom has some odd features, e.g. old-fashioned sit-down bathtub where you have to hold the showerhead. Neighborhood is OK but feels a bit urban-gritty.

Review 43:Good location close to Onomia Square giving good access to breakfast cafes and metro. Simple comfortable room. Friendly staff speaking excellent English.

Review 44:Breakfast we paid not worth 5 eur, go grab some sandwiches and coffee nearby the hotel, The room bit used but clean

Review 45:Location nearby metro station, staff, cleanliness

Review 46:Can we have better coffee and juice for breakfast please !

Review 47:The staff are genuine, friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and it's nice to see they care about their guests. The rooms are being progressively upgraded. The hotel is very close to the metro.

Review 48:The shower was a bit uncomfortable and the room a bit noisy.

Review 49:The staff were very nice, always trying to help. The hotel is very well located and you can go on foot to every touristic place.

Review 50:Breakfast - you don't have a choice to grab what you want as the staff herself will get the stuffs for you.

Review 51:1. Location from near by Omonia Metro - 3 mins walk, the metro area looked a bit creepy, but as such did not experience any problem. There will be police patroling the area. 2. Extremely friendly staff (in general Greek people are very friendly) 3. Comfortable bed, 4. great air-conditioning, 5. very good wifi even in the room. 6. Value for money!

Review 52:the neighborhood is sketchy. noises after midnight in the hotel from drunk? people. would not stay here or in the neighborhood again.

Review 53:close to metro station

Review 54:Had bad back even the bed is good but not for me (probably for a reason as stay other hotels bed no problem but this one gave me problems!)

Review 55:Fantastic best bread ever eaten at breakfast

Review 56:The staff are really friendly. We had to catch the taxi at 2:30 in the morning to get into the bus to the airport, the staff helped us and gave us the tips :)

Review 57:The location was central to Athens, the breakfast was filling (lots of bread), the view from the ninth floor balcony was great, and the staff spoke good English and were helpful.

Review 58:The location is central but omonia square feels very unsafe and I would recommend staying in another area as this area is very run down and rough.

Review 59:Staff very friendly, room good for price.

Review 60:Location doesn't look very nice. Especially in the evening it is a bit creepy to walk some streets around.

Review 61:Very helpful staff. They were able to call me cheap taxi, recommend good restaurant and keep watch my baggage after check-off. 5 minutes to metro station.

Review 62:The bedrooms on the street side is little bit noisy

Review 63:The staffs are so nice to help me printing boarding pass; Good locational line 2 and two stations away from syntagma square

Review 64:- excellent location, near to the metro station and city centre (we reach Lycabettus, Acropolis etc. by foot) - nice room, very clean and spacious, well-equiped - great wifi - breakfast included (rather small, sweet: bread, jam, honey, juice, coffee or tea, yoghurt) Keep in mind: location is convenient, but it's a city centre, rather noisy - totally normal :) It's safe, don't worry.

Review 65:No negatives.

Review 66:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke English. Knowledgeable on area and transportation options. Breakfast not included but very reasonable. Great value for someone not looking for 4 star.

Review 67:the location is not something special

Review 68:The room and the bathroom was very clean and the wi fi connection works perfect even at the 9th floor. It is very close to the metro station.

Review 69:Everything was perfect. This wasn't my first stay in this hotel, but it was perfect as usual. The staff is very kind, giving any information you need.It is very comfortable to be only 200 meters from Omonia since from there you can use the subway and go anywhere. Please note that Omonia today is totally safe,I was walking there alone at 2 o'clock in the morning and never felt unsafe! The room is cleaned every day and it is very large and comfortable (the staff was so kind that they gave the double room for the price of the single one!!). The position is recommendable even if you do not want to use the subway, since you are very near the Acropolis and other archeological sites and in Omonia you have shops and restaurants and bars (some of them open even very late at night). Not less important, the wi fi works perfectly. If I come back to Athens,I will certainly stay in this hotel again.Thank you, dear staff!

Review 70:Shower is very tiny, even for a medium european sized person. Shower lacks a holder for the showerhead, clumsy experience. Hairdryer must be borrowed from the reception. Television signal is bad, one channel only and fuzzy picture.

Review 71:Clean room and spaces, good location, wifi works well. Satisfied with overall price/quality when getting 50% off on low season, on normal price would be disappointed.

Review 72:The surroundings of the hotel look a bit dingy at first glance but it is the very centre of the town and rather safe at the end of the day.

Review 73:Very good location, close to one of the main squares and one or two underground stations from the main attractions. The hotel is really simple but sufficient to comfortably rest and sleep after sightseeing. The breakfast is also OK.

Review 74:The cleanliness of the room was let down by the horrible manky fleece blanket on the bed. Room would be greatly improved by a bedstead to cover this up.

Review 75:Handy location, 5 mins from Omonia metro station and the bus stop to go to bus terminal A for long distance buses. Large bed. Good wifi.

Review 76:the noise of traffic from the street below

Review 77:Perfect for a city trip! Location is central, near Omonia underground station, all important sights in walking distance. Clean rooms, spacious, balkony, friendly staff (we booked without breakfast)

Review 78:Unsafe to use air conditioning: filters are not clean (maybe) and if i try to use air conditioning specific "fungus" smell is filled my room;

Review 79:Great location - 3-4 min walking from Omonia square

Review 80:Rough area, can't keep your room key, damp smell, sit down shower with no holder for shower head, toilet seat only half attached, A/C pipes run to bottles on balcony, very noisy from outdoors and other guests, shabby, wifi slow and unreliable, very small & slow lift, electricity (therefore fridge) goes off when you leave your room

Review 81:Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, powerful A/C, close enough to attractions to walk, very very close to a metro station, fridge in room, shampoo/soap and toilet paper provided every day

Review 82:I almost didn't sleep at night as heard neighbours and cars on the street. It was like having no walls at all. All the rest was fine.

Review 83:bed was good, receptionist friendly

Review 84:Unappetizing coffee for breakfast (but this is subjective, my opinion And would be still at least one outlet in the room that was full of happiness

Review 85:Convenient location in the center of Athens. From the underground no more than 2 minutes walk away. Fifteen minute stroll along the streets will lead you to the Acropolis. Welcoming and friendly staff. The room is clean and cozy.

Review 86:Nice, budget hotel, clean rooms. The location is also fine, we returned late at night and didn't have any problem. The staff speaks English and were helpful. Recommendable for a short stay.

Review 87:Basic confort but clean!

Review 88:Omonia square it is not enjoyable place to stay but is reasonable price and close to metro and main turistic atractions. Staf at reception are really friendly and helpful. Wifi wirk good. Good price.

Review 89:we didn't have any problems with the location (bad name), maybe because of the holiday season, bad staff reassured us that not much is going on. you have to be careful in Athens in general though. apart from that, nothing negative.

Review 90:Great staff. Location near the center of the city. A/C and WiFi works perfectly. Clean bathroom and bed sheets most importantly

Review 91:The area is not so good even though it is convenient, but it's safe if you avoid little roads at night

Review 92:Central position (you can reach the Acropolis on foot, near metro station), staff very kind and always giving advices about the city, good for the price

Review 93:Water pressure in the shower was not very good, maybe because my room was on a higher floor; also the shower curtain not very helpful from containing the water, so by the time you finish showering, the whole bathroom floor looks like a pool. As far as noise, there was relatively quiet from the street at my floor level; however, door locks from neighboring rooms were quite noisy and you could here them reverberating throughout the hallway, day and night.

Review 94:Convenient location and price were the main reasons I choose this hotel. The room was as described on the website, simple but functional, fairly clean; continental breakfast was OK (no refills though); reception personnel was friendly and helpful. AC was whisper quiet and efficient. Wi-fi in the room was also usable. No major issues, only some minor ones as noted below.

Review 95:Price of private parking 25e for 2 days 2 elevators but too small

Review 96:Private parking near hotel - 10 meters Nice staff Very good and safe location Value for money

Review 97:At night the location close to the hotel has a number of dodgy people lurking by restaurants hasling customers. Don't eat out late in the immediate area. It is fine during the day .

Review 98:It is reasonably close to the main attractions. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and reasonable size.

Review 99:We were a bit worried about the location, because we have read that it coud be a dangerous area, but we had at no time an unsafe feeling. However, it is certainly not the best area.

Review 100:That was a perfect place for what i wanted : I am student, i had to stay one weekend in Athenes and that was great. Great Staff, clean room, the hotel is close to the center.

Review 101:The toilet didn't flush, we had a view of a brick wall, overall kind of creepy and dirty. Seemed high price for what it was.

Review 102:The staff was very friendly. The room was semi-modern. Location not horrible, could walk to most tourist locations

Review 104:Too close from metro 1 min walk , 10 min from Monastriki square , Plaka, parlement , quite location , but very nosy in early morning everybody is going to acropolise

Review 105:Neighborhood was very sketchy. To avoid this sketchiness and be close to the acropolis you'll need to stay at Plaka but that comes with a price. We walked to Vienna Hotel twice late at night and never ran into any problems.

Review 106:The staff were very welcoming and very useful about information around the town. Air conditioning worked great and was well needed after a day of sightseeing. The acropolis is a short 10 minute walk away and the train station is only about 2 blocks away. Room was basic but was a great value for the price.

Review 107:- kind of old furniture and the whole look was old fashioned - does not have a dryer on the balcony - very basic breakfast, although fresh

Review 108:- it was very clean, as they were changing the sheets and towels often - air conditioning worked nice - the staff was friendly and helpfull, especially the one speaking romanian - good location, only 1 metro station to centre, and the area is not as shady as it used to be

Review 109:a lot of people said that around that area is not safe especially at night. but one must be careful then.

Review 110:the hotel staff are really kind and excellent. good value for money.

Review 111:-the hotel neighborhood is the poorest in the Athens downtown. Its ugly and dirty and wt a lot of homeless people. -the wifi didn't works in our room. I had to go to reception every night. I saw the staff trying to fix that, but they were unable to solve it during out time there. -the breakfast is REALLY simple. We were still hungry even after it. - the terrace it's abandoned and wt a lot of rubbish despite the great view. They could have a restaurant or a coffe shop there.

Review 112:-Its an good location: is possible to go to main touristic points walking about 15 minutes; 1 quarter to subway Omnia station. -the staff was really kind and helpful. -there is an terrace wt a great view to the city and to acropolis. -the room was clean and comfortable

Review 113:The noise was incredible - from the street and from the other rooms - doors and bathroom. The rooms quite small and with a smell of old.

Review 114:I liked the location. Near the metro, you can also walk to visit the most important objectives.

Review 115:A little bit noise.

Review 116:Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 117:the sink didn't work properly

Review 118:Spacy room, clean, nice location, comfotable bed, kind stuff.

Review 119:taxi from airport charged us too much, the set rate plus half again.

Review 120:near everything

Review 121:The shower has no where to hang the shower head. Hence lousy showers with soap in one hand and shower head in the other.

Review 122:Breakfast was average.Staff was helpful and friendly. Location was about a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis and close to the metro.

Review 123:Slightly funny smell in bathroom.

Review 124:Left something behind and staff had it waiting for me later. Air con. Good location. Good staff, helpful.

Review 125:Wifi almost absent, Very noisy at night

Review 126:The staff was helpful, and it is at 20 min top's then most significant tourist attractions

Review 127:Clean, very nice staff, comfortable beds

Review 128:The hotel has a very good location, supportive staff and good level of comfort

Review 129:Small room in very busy street. Very small shower if you are tall, like us

Review 130:Low budget hotel but fine for one or two days.

Review 131:Room Space

Review 132:Location Staff Cleanness
