In the center of Zermatt right across from the Sunnegga-Paradise Ski Lift and only a 5-minute walk from the train station, the Hotel National is the only hotel in Zermatt with exclusively south-facing rooms and a balcony in every room. Most rooms also offer views of the Matterhorn Mountain.
Every room has a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and a modern bathroom. Fresh fruits and a welcome drink await you upon arrival.
You can spend pleasant hours at Hotel National Zermatt’s bar with its fireplace. Free use of an iMac in the lobby is available. A DVD player and smartphone docking stations are provided upon request and you can also borrow DVDs and books on site.
The hotel features a 3,875 ft² spa oasis with pool, caldarium, aroma grotto, sauna, dream shower, Kneipp grotto and tepidarium with Mimaroso warm beds. A wide range of different activities including Yoga, Pilates and Aqua Fitness is available on site. You can work out in the hotel’s gym and request a personal trainer at the property. Sun beds are available as well.
A garden with a terrace and an ice bar in winter is a further feature of Hotel National Zermatt. Evenings with live music are organized on a regular basis. In summer, barbecue specialties from the region are available every Saturday.

Review 1：The breakfast was a bit limited and by 10am the eggs tasted like plastic.

Review 2：Super friendly staff. Impressed by the "sock washing" and "boot disinfecting" services. Unique and goes above and beyond expectations.

Review 4：There was a hanging heart on our door that was a welcome sign when we arrived. Reception was super friendly and helped with our luggage. Great to have a balcony. Very clean and modern with robe and slippers and nice toiletries. Can walk to the hotel from the train station. We were out for the day and when we came back the lights were dimmed and our beds turned - I was really pleased by this! We left very early the next morning and were given nice breakfast bags. Would very highly recommend this hotel!

Review 5：It seems nudity is allowed in the Spa (seems rather common in Spas in Switzerland), which may be a problem for many cultures I am sure. If this is a problem for you, I suggest you confirm this with the hotel before booking!

Review 6：This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, hotel is well located near the center of the village (5min walk) and across from one of the main gondolas. We loved the facilities in the Spa, with Jacuzzi, saunas, heated pool, etc. We can’t wait to come back!

Review 8：First the location the panoramic view from your room. The staff was very corporative n friendly as my daughter was at ease with them. Rooms were clean and tidy.

Review 10：We got a room upgrade to a lovely duplex suite - which was fabulous - and had a good view of the Matterhorn. The staff are very welcoming and looked after us very well. The bar and sitting areas have invested heavily in sheepskins. The hotel is very convenient for the Sunegga and Gornergrat uplift systems - though not for the uplift to the ski area above Trockener Steg, so I tend to choose it for summer rather than winter visits.

Review 11：We just stayed overnight. The friendly welcome and the ambiance made us feel at home right away. We did enjoy thoroughly the wonderful spa area and an excellent massage. Early morning we got a clear view of the Matterhorn from our balcony.

Review 12：The receptionists are very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel is really great and only few steps away from the Sunnega Bahn. Soon after we arrived, welcome drinks were served, and my husband really loved their coffee! All amenities are amazing - from the spacious and well-maintained room, to the relaxing garden terrace, as well as the lovely indoor pool. This hotel has truly made my husband experienced luxury in his special day! All the best Hotel NZ!

Review 14：Excellent breakfast! Couldn't get enough of it. Great customer service from all the staff: they made me feel welcome and valued. Nothing was too much to help with. Frits, chocolate and water provided free of charge as well as transport to and from the station. English channels available though signals could be lost sometimes. I really enjoyed staying there.

Review 16：I took my mother to celebrate her 80th birthday in order to make herwish (to see Matterhorn) come true. For our surprise, the room wasupgraded (provably for this special occasion) to the suit room with thebest view! This hotel has got everything; good email communication, goodlocation (good access but quiet and best matterhorn view from therooms!), tasty foods (we enjoyed "swiss BBQ"), great facility,excellent cleanness and great comfort but the best of all was theirunbeatable warm hospitality!! No doubt,Hotel National is the best hotelin Zermatt and we thank them to give us such a beautiful memory.

Review 19：We really enjoyed staying in Zermatt. It is the best choice to stay in the Hotel National Zermatt. Fabio from the front desk is really really helpful and friendly. He always greets us with his lovely great smile. He always preforms professionally. Once we arrived the hotel, he gave us very good suggestion to visit Gornergrat for the lovely afternoon. He is a really good staff of the hotel. He answered our questions patiently and clearly. Thanks so much for all the staff from the hotel. Looking forward to stay in Zermatt in the future.

Review 34：Room was surprisingly small for our family of 4. We had the Matterhorn suite. Two single beds on the mezzanine level were squashed into a very awkward layout. One was fine but the other was against the wall where the roof slopes down which would've resulted in serious head injury should you decided to get up quickly or in the middle of the night. We moved the pillow to the foot end for more space but the pillow kept sliding off during the night as there was no solid footrest. No storage on the mezzanine level either. Staircase leading to mezzanine level is very steep. Fine for our teenagers but would be very dangerous for young kids. Eating lunch on the mountain, everything needs to be reserved. If no reservation then decide to eat early or later lunch.

Review 35：Service and staff were excellent, access to Sunegga gondola, ski rental and easy walk to Bahnhofstrasse (Main Street). Restaurants are walking distance which was great as we wanted to try some of the better known restaurants etc. breakfast was very good and with a great selection of local and European foods. Bar service & drinks were excellent. Staff were extremely helpful in booking restaurants which is an absolute necessity this time of the year.

Review 37：Service, staff and food. The front desk had access to ski passes and looked after any request promptly. The dining room is beautiful Classic Swiss style with excellent food. As Zermatt is mostly made up of hotels and restaurants we only managed to eat breakfast in the hotel until our last day when we ate dinner. The dinner was great.

Review 38：Hotel is perfect for everything you want: friendly staff, close to Sunnegga, very good food, excellent dinners, SPA! We spent New Year's 2014 period and we were very pleased for what they offered us. Services were perfect, especially we loved dinner and how they organized New Year's party! Review 43：The staff is the highest point of the Hotel! The recepcionist is a really lovely lady!! Decoration is very cozy, the bed is delicious and it's very clean. Good shower and bathrrom as well, very very clean. It's right in front of the Sunnega lift, which is awsome because of the heavy weight of the ski equipments. Me and my husband will definitelly go back there this season!

Review 44：From the moment we walked through the door to the dropoff back at the train station we were treated with the utmost care. Our room had a nice view of the Matterhorn. A complementary drink was served at the handsome bar and the manager came by to find out if there was anything more they could do to make us even more comfortable. A great box lunch was prepared for our train ride leaving this beautiful city.

Review 45：The stuff was very professional and eager to help. Every question or request received a full and immediate response. The food in the hotels restaurant was excellent! The dinners are highly recommended (and in a very fair price). When we had a problem with our ski passes (which had nothing to do with the hotel) the hotel manager himself intervened and did more than we could ask for in order to help. We were very pleased with our stay and will be sure to come and visit again!

Review 55：This hotel is in a spectacular location, the room that we had gave us an excellent view of the Matterhorn as well as other beautiful scenery. All bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk and the atmosphere was brilliant. The weather was unpredictable but that made absolutely no difference to the enjoyment of our stay. Hotel staff were lovely and booked a nearby restaurant for us one night which we thought was very kind. Definitely will be returning!

Review 59：The staff was helpful and hospitable. They greeted us with a welcome drink as we sat on the glorious patio. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. They even had chocolates on the bed and complementary robes and slippers for us to wear to make us feel right at home. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, sauna, and aromatherapy room and we treated ourselves to a massage. Even the morning breakfast was first rate. We definitely recommend this glorious hotel.

Review 60：Our visit was specifically to see the Matterhorn so booked this hotel with a room with Matterhorn view on higher floor. Got room 413- higher floor- but with very limited view of the mountain- to get a half decent view had to stand on chair on balcony as view definitely partially obscured by building in front. Advice, go for 4th floor but insist on middle number room to get best view. We arrived when mountains in cloud so only realised our partial view the following day otherwise would have complained. Also, minor annoyance, tea/coffee accessories not properly replenished nor was flask of water which was provided on arrival. Also, bathroom products very limited. All just OK, not spectacular.
