Reviews for Hotel Matterhorn Focus Superior
Review 1:- Staff were very friendly and polite :D - Facilities such as outdoor pool (surrounded by the snow was a unique experience) and relaxing spa area were fantastic! - Lovely breadfast spread! - The best and most romantic hotel we ever had.
Review 2:Our room was too warm at night (dry heat) even with the heating seemingly off. We couldn't figure it out, but would have slept much better if it was cooler! Having said this, it was a perfect setup overall so this was a minor issue!
Review 3:The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. A great place to come back to after a day out on the slopes! Cool decor and unbeatable access to the ski lift. Would happily visit again.
Review 4:An unusual hotel set into the mountain, almost adjacent to the Mattterhorn Glacier Express gondola. The wellness area is lovely, the staff are extremely helpful, extra touches such as the afternoon 'après ski' cakes all add a positive touch. I would definitely return.
Review 5:its a bit out staffed, but its been a quite time so maybe thats why, requested a late checkout but they charged us a half-day that was really not fair while there were only three guest staying in the entire hotel.
Review 6:best location for ski, just round the corner of the station to Zermatt ski, great design and architecture, great view
Review 7:It was 18 mins walk away from the centre. And there is a chair lift that was in our view of the Matterhorn.
Review 8:The hotel was stunning and the staff was very hospitable.
Review 9:friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the care they took to show everyone around the hotel. they also had good idea's and information about trips, places to eat and anything that a guest would want to know. we had a fabulous stay and would definitely return.
Review 10:Was getting taxi to train and another couple was going at same time .. Could have shared taxi and cost but wasn't given that option. Dinner at hotel would be nice option .
Review 11:Breakfast Location Pool Room
Review 12:The Focus is an excellent facility in a very good location. But what sets it apart is the staff. We felt like we were getting individual attention.
Review 13:Service could have been better and the chairs were uncomfortable
Review 14:Fabulous room and view of the Matterhorn. Concierge who took us to the station was fabulous and gave us great advice for the next part of our trip.
Review 15:located little away from the town centre. public transport is limited and expensive. the hotel only provides transport while checking in & checking out
Review 16:a good hotel, with excellent views of teh Matterhorn mountains!
Review 17:Poor breakfast. Lack of customer- centric service, lack of respect to the customer. No chance to use shuttle bus (the hotel is located quite far from the city center).
Review 18:Overall facilities and spa
Review 19:Have to go out for lunch and dinner. Only Breakfast available in hotel. Expensive compared to other similar options available in Zermatt.
Review 20:Good location... very very close to the cable car start station. Good view of Matterhorn mountain from the room. Caring staff.
Review 21:OK, if it were 1km closer to the main town, it would be perfect, but then the view might go and noise might rise and it would be further from an excellent lift and a really great restaurant up the hill. So...........
Review 22:Just about everything! great location; tremendous, modern style; excellent staff; hearty breakfast; great view from our room; nice public areas.
Review 23:The wellness spa and pool is very well designed and decorated. Chillax with the view of Matterhorn. The cleanliness is superb. All sofa was vacuumed. Nice pick up and drop off service with no extra charge.
Review 24:Not too many options for breakfast
Review 25:Stunning view from room, spacious and comfy bed. helpful staffs for every needs. Small but meet all five starred standard. Definitely stay here again.
Review 26:The location was extremely near to the Ski termial and we appreciated the friendly Taxi service. Delightful design hotel that does not take itself too seriously! Decorated with humour and a very special SPA that is really worth a visit. Will be back to enjoy that unique view of the mighty Matterhorn.
Review 27:Np remarks
Review 28:Personal services Froendly approach Comfort In very good taste, mix of modern and mountain style; state of the art Spa and very warm bar, fireplace and socil area
Review 29:nothing
Review 30:Views of Matterhorn, next to Matterhorn gondola, modern room, most excellent staff and patrons, breakfast till 10:30, pool area, coffee machine in room, functional bathroom
Review 31:Nothing could have been improved.
Review 32:right over the gondola. Cool underground entrance. Great spa. Killer room with a view. Great breakfast. Accommodating staff.
Review 33:-Be sure to remember any power adaptors you may need- 'borrowing' one from hotel stash of leftovers from prior guests will cost you 10 euro. (altho most hotels charge for these things as well)
Review 34:-Staff went out of way to make you feel like you were only guests in the hotel -Breakfast buffet (included) was plentiful with many options as well as custom-order eggs -If you contact hotel prior to stay, they will pick-up/drop-off with their shuttle at train station-no addl charge- otherwise the walk can be made in approx. 10 min. -Hotel staff offered welcome drinks on arrival, shared knowledgeable about restaurants, excursions, etc, and will make reservations for you -Beds are very comfortable- and hard to leave when you could see magnificent views of the Matterhorn while laying in them! -Room designs are unique, sleek and ecclectic in design- very comfortable and artistic! Some guests may be uncomfortable with the totally glass-surround bathroom- but, all you have to do is pull all the curtains, and it's very private. Included robes/slippers for spa use. -You are located literally next to the cable cars running up to the Matterhorn- while this was not a distraction for us as we just would close the curtains when getting dressed in the morning, etc- it's good to be aware of. -The wellness/spa area was AMAZING-included indoor/outdoor pool made entirely of stainless steel (outdoor pool was also a jacuzzi), heated towels, 'light' room, 'ionized'-type of air room, wet/dry sauna rooms, multiple types of shower sprays, heated tile chair/relaxation room, etc.
Review 35:From the complimentory beverage upon arrival to the shuttle back to the train - this hotel was top notch. Friendly and very helpful staff, beutiful views and relaxing spa all made this an excellent travel spot.
Review 36:Google maps lead us to a wrong exit, making us climb up a steep hill with a suite case, so make sure to walk past the gondola station and use the tunnel on the left (as opposed to climbing the hill just before the gondola).
Review 37:Everything was perfect: the design is unique and really beautiful; the breakfast features lots of fresh bread, many varieties of cheese, and good coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful. The spa has a sauna, a steam bath, and an indoor and outdoor pool: very relaxing after a day of hiking.
Review 38:Probably it is a little bit far from the center but this is one of the best point as well if you want to rest pacefully and enjoy the quite nature
Review 39:Really nice hotel. Good views, perfect .
Review 40:Cons: No restaurant for dinner means always having to go out. King Size bed is actually two twins pushed together. Although one sheet spanned both mattresses, the middle of the "king" was uncomfortable. Lots of light switches means spending some time trying to figure out how to get everything to work. The metal light fixture over the sofa hangs low. Get ready to bump your head on it every time you stand up. Didn't find out until the last day that there is a back entrance. This would have been nicer to begin some walks, rather than always going down the elevator to the tunnel.
Review 41:Pros: Great new modern hotel. Very cool appearance. Love the glass elevator and stairs. Excellent helpful staff. Best non-chain place we stayed in Switzerland. Away from the crowds in the old town. Free transport to hotel from train station (just arrange ahead of time). Upscale means no loud families. Small means now tour groups Free snacks in afternoon. Robes and slippers to use in the room. Best location in Zermatt for access to the gondola in the summer.
Review 42:Spaces too dark; Stark concrete walls, not comfortable spaces at all; bed very uncomfortable (mattress too thin). Felt that it was overpriced for what we got. Paid $300 for a unit on the 1 1/2 floor with only glass looking out from the living room space. Decor was not compatible with overall design of the building.
Review 43:Location was good with it being close to lift
Review 44:It is far from the Zermatt Railway station, but the pick up van was available easily with a single call to hotel.
Review 45:Its an amazing location with a beautiful view and immediate access Matterhorn glacier gondola. Staff was very receptive. We loved it.
Review 46:the view of the Matterhorn was partially blocked by a tower for the ski lift.
Review 47:Had a suite facing Matterhorn Incredible room Staff was very helpful. Allowed us to check in 3 hours early. Located right beside the lifts going up the mountain.
Review 48:Great location, friendly staff, very comfortable - highly recommended
Review 49:not close from station
Review 50:Very kind staff, great view, very nice outside spa
Review 51:Nothing. Everything was great.
Review 52:Excellent location next to the lift, great design, super spa and fantastic service minded staff
Review 53:great location, great quality, great people loved the spa! one of the must's in Zermatt (have been there many times)
Review 54:Pool is 32 Celsius means cold for a woman .
Review 55:View. Location.
Review 56:Amazing decor and breakfast
Review 57:Everything is perfect!!!! I wanna go there next time
Review 58:Very friendly and helpful staff. Modern, clean hotel, great views; good spa area.
Review 59:That we couldn't stay longer
Review 60:Everything
Review 61:Awesome hotel with amazing views and a great breakfast. The hotel staff was wonderful. Definitely staying with them again!
Review 62:Rooms are not that big.
Review 63:Very nice staff. Good location. Very clean rooms.
Review 64:The hotel and its location were beautiful. The owners and staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.
Review 65:Staffs are very nice.
Review 66:The views of the Matterhorn were amazing. I could sit and look at it all day.
Review 67:What a fabulous stay in this gorgeous, modern hotel in the charming village of Zermatt! We didn't want to leave our room, it was so fantastic!
Review 68:Location next to the Matterhorn Express cable car. Good breakfast selection.
Review 69:Leaving the hotel. It was so nice we hated to go anywhere else.
Review 70:Everything was perfect from the time we arrived till the time we left.
Review 71:Exceptional hotel with expert staff and beautifully appointed rooms and lobby. Staff are also extremely helpful.
Review 72:Breakfast, Spa facilities, staff....everything
Review 73:Nothing not to like
Review 74:Everything was perfect. Food, employees, view, room, spa. Loved it all
Review 75:2 single beds in the castor suite, we would have expected a king size bed !
Review 76:situation +++, hotel design, outer pool
Review 77:Everything was first class
Review 78:Great views. Clean and modern. Convenient shuttle to train
Review 79:Nothing
Review 80:Hotel is 20-25 minutes away from the train station. The hotel shuttle service ends at 6:30 pm, which is too early. Hotel should be able to provide shuttle services as and when the guests need them.
Review 81:The room is nicely decorated & the view from my room is facing Mountain Matterhorm, absolutely magnificent! The staffs there are friendly and helpful!
Review 82:There is no restaurant in the evening but you can get soup, sandwiches and take away. However, there are a variety of nice restaurants in Zermatt. The ski locker rooms could have been a little wider.
Review 83:The hotel is located near the ski lift where Stoked ski school have the children's' classes - this made skiing very effortless. The hotel staff were welcoming and very friendly. The breakfast buffet had a huge variety and was the perfect start for a day of skiing. Overall, a great place to stay.
Review 84:Everything about the hotel demonstrated the owner's passion forhospitality. From the shuttle driver who personally met us at the trainstation to the owner herself greeting us upon arrival with fresh coffeeand personally showing us to our room. It was a special stay for uswhile we were there and you could tell that the team had taken time toput unique touches in our room. Every last detail had been consideredfrom the moment of arrival down to the fur blankets in the rooms so thatthe balcony could be enjoyed even as the first big snow fall came down.As my partner and I are currently living in different countries while hecompletes his schooling, we very much appreciated all of the specialtouches from the staff. We will definitely be back and highly recommendthe hotel to anyone traveling to Zermatt.
Review 85:The hotel room was awesome. Perfect view of the matterhorn, and room was comfy & cosy. Room rate was a little pricey, but overall, it was value for money. My family enjoyed the stay at this hotel the most.
Review 86:We have booked this hotel to enjoy the much praised design and architecture, but on arrival we were offered a room in the so called "HAUS C", which is a completely different story: at least 40 years old building with dark rooms and claustrophobic low ceilings, worn out furniture on the terrace without any fence and privacy, noisy pipelines and bad acoustic isolation of neighbouring rooms. It was on the level of private accomodation in the garage like room. If you decide for this hotel, be 100% sure that you will stay in the A or B building or better choose another hotel. Booking much in advance (we did it many months before our arrival) is no guarantee for it. For this reason we find the presentation of the hotel on booking.com extremely misleading! Probably the hotel management should at least offer "C" building rooms at much reduced prices.
Review 87:Very friendly and helpful staff; excelent location for mountaineering or skiing (nearby cablecar station), including nice views due to slightly elevated position; delicious breakfast; spa facilities are outstanding.
Review 88:1. View severely obstructed by cable tower. Not as spectacular as expected due to that. 2. Shower space was very small. Difficult enough for one person to stand and have a shower comfortably. No shower cap provided. 3. No restaurant in a four-start hotel. For every room service you would need to pay €5.0 extra. Next door restaurant service costs €10 extra.
Review 89:1.Close to the cable car station. 2. Close to all the amenities around the train station. 3. Nice view
Review 90:Two single mattresses on a double bed? This did not make for the most comfortable cuddle.
Review 91:Sophisticated, understated elegance; the whole place is just so well put together and the staff are so very enthusiastic and young!
Review 92:Can't think of anything. Not having a dinner restaurant didn't bother us as we wanted to explore the area. They do have a bar.
Review 93:The lift is right out the door so great to catch the lift to top. The free shuttle service to the station is helpful, but the best of all was the view from the room! The Matterhorn is in front of you. It's clean and bathrobe and slippers provided. They'd let us use their shower after we came back from skiing even after checked out (pool side shower). Breakfast selection is good. Everything super clean. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 94:Would be nice to have a restaurant in the hotel, but then again the town is full of them so I could live with that.
Review 95:The design is amazing, the staff is very friendly (Marion, Emily at the reception, you're the best), the hotel is quiet, great for relaxing after a long hike in the mountains. Spa is small but really peaceful but don't forget this is a small hotel. You may say it's expensive but it's worth every cent, and more. As a 5 star luxury hotel employee I had high expectations and this hotel surpassed them all (not only because of the view of the Matterhorn from my balcony). It was the highlight of my swiss roundtrip, too bad I didn't stay longer. Thank you for everyone at the hotel for making this 2 days such a great experience.
Review 96:No fridge
Review 97:Friendly & helpful staff, Funky decor, Visited early August great weather for mountain biking, trekking etc would be a fantastic place in the winter
Review 98:there nothing i did not like... everything was perfect... i enjoyed my stay and would recommended this hotel... the hotel and its architecture, its concept, the location, the features and the facilities... and the dedicated and friendly staff... for those who do not like the chalet type of accomodation... go there...
Review 99:No fridge in room. Only B&B (although no major issue as we like to eat out).
Review 100:Just about everything! Absolutely fantastic hotel in a perfect location for skiing Zermatt! Beautiful rooms with outstanding views of the Matterhorn. Excellent spa facilities.
Review 101:The only annoyance for us was firstly that we were only there one nightand secondly a group of children who were bombing and splashing into thepool which didn't make for a relaxing time for anyone in the pool oron the side of it. Their parents were nowhere to be seen and thechildren mocked us when we politely asked them to refrain. Not a faultof the hotel but was a let down for us.
Review 102:Great location, away from the bustle but close enough to easily walkinto the village (10mins). Loved the architecture of the hotel, absolutely gorgeous rooms and we had an amazing view of the Matterhorn.Staff were excellent; helpful and attentive. The duvet and sheets werethe most luxurious of our 2 weeks in Switzerland - wish we could takethem home.
Review 103:Quite a distance from main shops and restaurants (aside from a very nice pizza restaurant just down the road) - there is, however, a free shuttle service.
Review 104:Beautiful new hotel with a room looking straight out to the Matterhorn. Fresh, modern and clean. Top facilities and great value for money. Excellent front desk service and a free shuttle back to the train. It is a perfect location if you want to take the gondola/cable car to the Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn Glacier Paradise) - 1 minute walk. We went up at 7.00am (for the views - we are not skiers) and were back for breakfast by 9.30 having had the wonderful views more or less to ourselves. By the time we got back down the queues were long. Hotel breakfast was excellent.
Review 105:the location is excellent providing excellent Matterhorn view and close to the cable car station. Very efficient and helpful staff and pleasant, a bit provocative, modern design. Very good breakfast, well prepared and elegantly served.
Review 106:The disadvantage of this hotel is that it doesn’t have dinner not only that they have no snacks just some soft drinks and chocolate bars
Review 107:This hotel is amazing the view to the Matterhorn is the best and in my opinion is the best hotel you can get in Zermatt
Review 108:Wonderful staff and very friendly owners! Made us feel like we were visiting family. Beautiful suite and views of the Matterhorn! They made our 30th anniversary celebration very special. We will be back:)!!
Review 109:Nothing!!
Review 110:The location is perfect -- on the outskirts of town (easy walkingdistance) & at the base of the Matterhorn with wonderful views. Thestaff was warm, welcoming, & helpful. Knowing it was our 40thanniversary, they upgraded us to a beautiful room facing theMatterhorn. They gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner &then called ahead to let them know it was our anniversary so therestaurant sprinkled red hearts on our table! The rate includedbreakfast, which was very nice, & they also served a complimentarywelcome drink & afternoon snacks. This was our favorite hotel ofour European trip!
Review 111:Some of the rooms with the Matterhorn view face the ski lift tower, which was a bit disappointing.
Review 112:Very friendly staff, modern decoration but also very cozy.
Review 113:All staff from shuttle drivers to reception were courteous, helpful and efficient. Made to feel very welcome. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet as well as beautifully decorated. Location was excellent. The view from our room was spectacular. Loved our stay at Matterhorn Focus.
Review 114:If you want to go in and out of town, it may be a little far to walk. Taxis cost 3 CHF a person per trip. Or you can walk to the ski bus stop which is not too far away and is free with a ski ticket.
Review 115:We were greeted with Prosecco on arrival, taken to incredible rooms decorated in a great mix of modern architecture and traditional Swiss leather and fabric furnishings. Great views. The spa area was beautifully done. I especially liked the outdoor pool overlooking the mountains. It was deserted at 7 - 8 pm ish so we had it to ourselves. We were lucky and got our family rooms at an amazing price - I think they go for up to 1,000 CHF more in the peak season... worth looking out for shoulder season last minute offers.
Review 116:nothing to dislike
Review 117:The management and staff were really friendly, Rooms were lovely with great views of the town and surrounding mountains. The indoor/outdoor Pool, Jacuzzi and spa room facilities were excellent. Brilliant Hotel...
Review 118:We loved everything about our stay at the Hotel Focus! I cannot say a bad thing about this hotel, its management, or its staff. They made our stay fabulous and certainly memorable. We will definitely return next year! Breakfast is fabulous in the morning and a very convenient perk that the hotel offers (included in the price of your room). Not only are their choices for everyone (I am celiac) but the staff learns your coffee/tea order right away and will bring your desired drink to the table in the morning, without asking! We loved every minute of our stay, and cannot emphasize enough how happy we were to be guests of the Hotel Matterhorn Focus.
