Reviews for State House Inn

Review 1:The location was amazing, the bed was super comfortable and the rooms were large for where the hotel was located. I'd definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to anyone else coming to Annapolis!

Review 2:The bed and pillows were hard as rocks. Offered no bottled water with coffee fixings. Had to use tap water out of the bathroom faucet that was almost impossible to turn on because it needed to be fixed.

Review 3:Beautiful location across from the State House.

Review 4:We loved the inn! The staff was fabulous, the inn was clean and had such a homey feeling! The location was perfect! We would definitely stay there again!

Review 5:I thought the bathroom needed upgrading although it all functioned well enough. We did not meet any staff but later we learnt that the manager had been involved in a car accident,

Review 6:Great location Good directions for parking

Review 7:No parking...even hard to park to unload. No breakfast included. Mattress in room with queen bed was not comfortable. King mattress in other room was good.

Review 8:Front porch rockers. Manager very friendly.

Review 9:There is no overnight parking near the hotel. However, there is a commercial lot within 10 minutes (walking) and the hotel will give you a coupon for 50% off the parking fee. Cost us $15 for TWO nights of parking! Very cheap compared to Boston. There is no breakfast at the hotel but many very good breakfast places nearby.

Review 10:The location for both the city & the Naval Academy is perfect, all within a very short walking distance. Although the manager is off site at night, she is VERY responsive when you call.

Review 11:I stayed during the week which made the price affordable. The parking wasn't best it should have been free if you had to walk but overall I would stay again.

Review 12:The location was perfect - very central to everything and made it easy to never get in my car from the time we checked in until we checked out. The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff was friendly. A small, family-owned vibe for sure, which I found endearing. Would definitely stay again!

Review 13:As the other reviews that we read prior to our booking this hotel stated- the location was terrific. I also appreciated that it was very quiet.I believe all rooms were booked that evening, but I never heard anyoneelse in the building.

Review 14:The location was excellent! The room was elegant, classy, nice flat screen tv, enjoyed free-wifi, super comfy bed, and staff was very accommodating. Upon checkout they let me store luggage so that I could come back in the evening to get it. Great value!

Review 15:Our room was very outdated. The bed was comfortable, but the carpet was faded and stained. The jacuzzi tub was large, but difficult to get into (I'm 5'4", but fit & mobile), and it was really the only way to bathe/shower. I know it's supposed to have "historic charm", but you can keep that while also updating some minor things that would make a big impact.

Review 16:We loved the location!

Review 17:Never saw a single staff person. Ice machine had no ice, uncomfortable beds/pillows - would've paid a little more for creature comforts.

Review 18:We liked the location and the old-world feel.

Review 19:Facility was in disrepair / outdated. Innkeepers were totally absent. no breakfast. Air conditioner ran constantly and was really loud.

Review 20:Location was great and inn was quiet at night.

Review 21:Absolutely nothing bad about our stay

Review 22:I liked how the keys and everything we needed to know were waiting for us at the door. It was like coming home. I couldn't believe the spaciousness of the room in an 18th century building. Amber is delightful!

Review 23:If I had to be picky- the air conditioner but we aren't use to having one at all.

Review 24:The historic Inn was very relaxing to stay as it felt like home. It was quiet without the bussle of a big hotel, concierges and over the top hotel staff. We were greeted by a gorgeous young lady with a beautiful friendly smile, thank you Amber. Due this and the ' feel' of the hotel we decided to extend our stay another night immediately. Great decision.

Review 25:Nothing bad to report.

Review 26:Location, location, location! Beautiful old house with nice large clean rooms located in the heart of Annapolis. Short walk to anyplace in the heart of the city. Well furnished rooms with comfortable beds. Really enjoyed our stay and would return again without hesitation. Loved it.

Review 27:It would have been nice to have a few more brochures or papers on the local area, top places to eat etc... The ice maker was not adequate for the amount of rooms in the building...

Review 28:Convenient to downtown and quiet, but central to the historic district for sightseeing, room was clean and adequate space to spread out for a few days.

Review 29:We loved our stay at the State House Inn! The location was perfect! Very central to everything! We walked to a family wedding at the USN Academy chapel, and then back from the reception nearby. Comfortable, charming, and large room and bath.

Review 30:1. WiFi is free but I could not get it to work 2. Parking is off-site (but close) 3. In my room, the tub was a little hard to get into and out of

Review 31:1. Location 2. Large room 3. Very clean 4. Friendly staff 5. Well priced for such a convenient location

Review 32:The room had an odd smell about it. We bought candles and kept them lit while we were in the room, and that solved the problem.

Review 33:The location was great, and our room was overall comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed the free wifi and discounted parking.

Review 34:Not seeing any staff member was not an issue because there were not problems with the room but this might cause a hassle.

Review 35:The atmosphere was great. There were about 8 bedrooms throughout the house with fridges and a common kitchenette on the bottom floor. I felt like I was at home.

Review 36:Memory foam bed was not very comfortable for us two overweight folks. Suggest deep sixing the whirlpool tub and put in a nice shower. Tub was hard to enter and was the shower also. Not pleasant or worth the extra money.

Review 37:Nice location. Room was nice but in need of a good refreashing.

Review 38:This place is so nice! Especially the inn keeper. She's very sweet and very helpful. The bed is SO comfortable and just the vibe of the whole place in general. EXCELLENT location! I would definitely be coming back again!

Review 39:The heating system, a minimum requirement, was appalling. Certainly in the Lord Calvert room. We had to choose whether we wanted a warm room, or put up with the tractor- like noise it made when turned on. We chose to do away with the noise, nevertheless leaving us to have a sleepless night anyway due to the low temperature of the room. In addition, the bed covers were certainly more appropriate for summer conditions, rather than the freezing temperatures outside. As for the bath....certainly not clean, nor was having a shower in the bath a pleasant experience. Also, and maybe due to my error, there were no breakfast facilities, just a kitchen, which we didn't find as no-one was there to greet us to show us around. We arrived at 5 pm, hardly a late check in. Just some keys left outside for us. I certainly am surprised to find some good reviews for this establishment.

Review 40:The quaint cottage-look outside.

Review 41:We were surprised that there wasn't breakfast because they're actually listed under "B&B" online. They're just a B. :)

Review 42:We liked the location and the easy access.

Review 43:This is truly an amazing place to stay! Each room is unique with its own charm. The rooms make you feel like you're at home. I never want to stay at a mainstream hotel again like a Marriott or Sheraton after spending time in this historic home. If you're an uptight, regimented traveler, you may not like the laid back atmosphere and the community iron and ironing board in the hallway. I found these aspects refreshing from the cookiecutter, sterile, fake greenery hotels that are often found off of every freeway exit. There was an "open kitchen" with ice and extra glasses and wine bottle openers ect. There is also a common living room area with couches/chairs and plenty of outdoor seating in the front of the property.

Review 44:I didn't like that when we returned there was no one there except a note that they would return in 20 minutes. It would have been nice to have water/coffee or some type of welcome.

Review 45:I liked that we were called and offer was made to store our bags while we got lunch and walked around the town.

Review 46:The house numbers do not go in order. So it was a little hard to find. But I called the owner and she answered right away, even at 10pm and directed without hesitation.

Review 47:The location was great. It feels like you are staying in a very comfortable home. Very pleasing.

Review 48:Not applicable here. It was cold outside.

Review 49:A comfortable historic lodging within easy walking distance of old Annapolis. We checked in after hours and keys and special instructions conveniently left out.

Review 50:I'm not a traveling snob, so I liked it all. It's a colonial home that George Washington may have walked in- so it isn't going to be spotless (although they do an excellent job trying)

Review 51:The management lady was Sooo nice and friendly and down to earth! The cleaning ladis were so nice and thorough. It felt like a home instead of a sterile, run of the mill hotel room. The view in the king suite down main street to the water is phenominal!!!!

Review 52:The place needs some upkeep. This could be a nice place to stay with some updating and you would be willing to pay much more for the location.

Review 53:Great location downtown.

Review 54:The street noise was present, however it was a tolerable level and ceased after 10 pm.

Review 55:Amber the property manager, couldn't have been more exceptionally wonderful. We had a few hiccups during the check in process which by no means were a problem, however she upgraded our room to the king suite which was absolutely lovely. All of the staff including the housekeepers were extremely helpful and provided us with all the amenities one could ask for.

Review 56:Rated a nine on Booking .com . I give it a 7.5. Staff presence not available at check in or anytime during the evening. Security risk for single traveler. Hot tub and shower difficult to get in and out.

Review 57:The location was fabulous. A bit noisy from the bar crowd late at night.

Review 58:The tub shower combination was a bit precarious. Parking is tricky asthe Inn does not have its own lot.

Review 59:The staff warmly welcomed me and were happy to provide a late check out.The Inn is in an excellent location in the heart of downtown Annapolis.

Review 60:We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Everything was perfect, from the location, to the decor, to the professionalism of the innkeepers. We will definitely be back! Loved the upgraded suite!

Review 61:Really wonderful place. With its own atmosphere. In the center of the city. The purpose of my trip was a conference. But I would like to visit this place with my family.

Review 62:Nothing!

Review 63:Location, proximity to main st, yet facing the state house, very quiet. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, pubs. King George room on top floor has a harbor view as well as looking over Main St. Picturesque.

Review 64:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our getaway weekend! The hotel is clearly older and renovated but it doesn't take away from the experience. It was clean and everything worked perfectly. It was a bit loud being on Main Street but the ability to walk to dinner and breakfast and the water more than made up for it!

Review 65:Room is dated and needs some fixing up.

Review 66:Location was excellent.

Review 67:Nothing negative to report.

Review 68:Amber and staff were very friendly.

Review 69:In the heart of things in Annapolis

Review 70:Could use a deep cleaning.

Review 84:The facility was comfortable, but needed a little "TLC."

Review 85:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient.

Review 86:Parking in municipal garage several blocks away. No Breakfast

Review 87:The location, historic area and waterfront

Review 88:Nothing.

Review 89:The Inn is in the heart of Annapolis; it is a bit historic and a lovely family manages the inn.

Review 90:Parking. I didn't know only had stairs no elevator.

Review 91:It is close to Edgewater and downtown.

Review 92:Easy walk to shops, restaurants and sightseeing. Great front porch to relax and people watch. Very low key atmosphere.

Review 93:No breakfast served

Review 94:Great location and ambience

Review 95:Location, quietness and Amber.

Review 96:All good

Review 97:The history of all the furniture puts you in a new era.

Review 98:nothing negative, all good!!!!!!!!!!

Review 99:convenient to downtown and very reasonably priced.

Review 100:The place was wonderful, but the convenience made it outstanding.

Review 101:No bad experiences. Suggest more effort at cleaning porch and front courtyard.

Review 102:staff and bed awesome

Review 103:Parking to load was impossible. Never saw the inn keepers. The American flag needs to be replaced, shameful.

Review 104:Location and the room was very nice.
