Reviews for Three Cities Kleine Zalze Lodge
Review 1:Reception (location and layout) not very inviting. Room comfortable, but not good value, too expensive for what we got. Did not feel welcome at the restaurant and waited 55 minutes for our main course (food was good).
Review 2:Service of one of the ladies at the wine tasting was excellent even though it was very busy. Fantastic location and well kept grounds.
Review 3:Bathrooms need some work and a clean. For the rate wifi should work perfectly, but did not. room on the road with many many pedestrians and suitcases. 4 a.m. not cool. For the rate shower in a bath a no no.
Review 4:great setting.
Review 5:We absolutely loved every thing. Dane Lanz is an absolute asset to your company as well as PJ - who prepared the most delicious food for us. Thank you Kleine Zalze for making us feel like royalty.
Review 6:We found the location a bit too far from the places we wanted to go, mainly because the weather wasn't too good and we hadnt hired a car.
Review 7:Lovely, modern (but homely!) place with fantastic service. Perfect surroundings for a relaxing stay. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Review 8:When we came back at 12:30 o Saturday afternoon, the room still wasnt made up. I had to call reception to organize getting the room cleaned and made up. We tried to get a glass of wine at 6:00 but not possible - the restaurant not open yet, the wine tasting was closed. No flexibility....
Review 9:Loved the warm bathroom floors and the complimentary wine. The room was comfortable and the bed was great.
Review 10:Our room's aircon didn't work. The minibar fridge was empty and very noisy and even turned to full hot water, the shower only got lukewarm. Perhaps we were just in a bad room.
Review 11:Beautiful property as a whole. Terrior restaurant is amazing. Staff at lodge are friendly and the breakfast is nice.
Review 12:Nothing but if you don't have your own transport you might feel a little cut off
Review 13:Set in paradise, with a magnificent mountain backdrop and the added comfort of it being in a security estate
Review 14:Very noisy - doors banging and people walking around from 5:30 am? Shower in bath not good - sprayed onto side rather than into bath - has obviously done this for a long time due to mould at side of bath.
Review 15:Location
Review 16:Inconsistent wifi that's all.
Review 17:We were welcomed on a late arrival. Our children joined us for delicious breakfasts. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine, had a free wine tasting. Load shedding did not affect us and nothing was a problem. By far the best value for money. We were sad to leave. Thank you.
Review 18:Prices in season VERY high. But in winter these were very competitive. No facecloths in bathroom. Steps to room a problem for luggage and no help. 4 rooms with one parking place!
Review 19:Fantastic location. Great service. Excellent breakfast! Best of all: underfloor heating in bathroom!
Review 20:Loadshedding - but that was out of their control. Maybe just a heads up on schedules upon arrival. So one can plan your day.
Review 21:The friendly ladies in the restaurant where breakfast was served. The country feel. The space around the unit to take walks in the vineyard. The security measures of the property. Privacy. The gym.
Review 22:Double room didn't have a double bed but two single beds made up as one which isn't all that comfortable. But other wise the bedding was very nice.
Review 23:Beautiful location, complimentary wine was a nice gesture. Front desk staff were very friendly. Next time we will stay longer!
Review 24:We were 30 minutes early and were not allowed to check in. I realise there are rules, but we travelled far and really just wanted to rest.
Review 25:Absolutely gorgeous location, loved the room and facilities. Such a pity we booked only one night. The room was splendid, comfortable and luxurious. The heated floor tiles in bathroom, heated towel rail, crisp linen... just perfect!
Review 26:No dedicated parking, other guests parked where i should have parked.the same happened to other family members in cottages on the reception side.kitchen ran out of bacon before end of breakfast
Review 27:Accomodation was neat and tidy,
Review 28:Bath tap diverter was completely broken and as a result could not run a bath. So badly broken that I cant understand how housekeeping didnt notice it and report it to be repaired.Mildew round edge of bath beneath the tiling.
Review 29:The room was dark and felt like a dungeon when you go down the steps.
Review 30:We had all the comforts as expected and the breakfast on the veranda was good. The surroundings were scenic with lovely gardens.
Review 31:We were stuck in a small room with no view, could have been in any budget hotel. I did not book because of price but on the facilities shown on the website - however, we were given a small room, no bath and no view - extreme rip-off at the price charged.
Review 32:Views,
Review 33:We went for dinner at the restaurant on the night we arrived. We had to go and asked staff for service after waiting for a while. We ordered drinks and waited a very long time for them, we had to enquire where our drinks were even though it wasn't busy at all. Breakfast the next morning was okay, but the hot breakfast such as the eggs, mince and beans were cold.
Review 34:The lodge is beautiful and well maintained
Review 35:Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was abundant and had everything. The only thing I can't rave about was the dinner at the lodges restaurant, it wasn't bad but I think it could be a bit better. The starter had a great cheese but the commercially bought sliced cold meat wasn't impressive.
Review 36:When we arrived the lodge unfortunately there was 'loadshedding' in the area and therefore our reservation could not be confirmed and we couldn't check in. The staff was very kind to offer us a wine tasting while we waiting for the power to come back on. Thanks again! The setting and the view from the pool is amazing.
Review 37:Jaded, stuffy rooms. If you hadn t pre booked dinner or golf, you can t have it. Asked for extension cord twice, never got it.
Review 38:Location and serving staff
Review 39:Facilities were ok, maybe a little dated.
Review 40:WiFi was free, but slow. Location surrounded by vineyards and the golf course is tranquil and quite beautiful, but a little remote (still quite close to Stellenbosch). Staff was very friendly.
Review 41:Only issue with this hotel is the restaurant and the fact you can't get a table. If I had known that it was such a problem I would have booked up a table months in advance for the nights we were there.the restaurant is truely amazing and the best food at very reasonable prices. We got 2 cancellations by luck, but literally had that not happened the only other choice was the breakfast room where they did snacks and small selection of Dinners in the evening very small and no atmosphere, it's not like you can walk anywhere to eat. They really need to let you know at time of booking you have to book up.amazing hotel would come back
Review 42:Really great hotel, staff friendly, amazing food good location and nice pool, staff were a bit slow with pool food and drink service. Room was comfortable and large
Review 43:This is probably the best winelands offering considering my fiance and I have stayed at some amazing places in Franschoek and stellenbosch before. Free wine tasting and a bottle of wine for guests makes this almost 5 star. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. No complaints at all.
Review 44:Our toilet was leaking. After repeated requests, an attempt was made by the lodge to fix the leak. All in vain, and the bathroom just continued to smell like a urinal.
Review 45:The lodge is perfectly situated for passionate golfers like us! We were generally satisfied with the facilities ec.
Review 46:There was no enough space for parking. I was not informed that I should book to visit the cellar.
Review 47:The environment brings all the tranquility you need for a holiday.
Review 48:Location of room, up and at the back. No hand support when entering the pool ! If one slipped, then one would fall as nothing to hold onto?
Review 49:The general concept and location was very good. When I return to RSA again, will book another stay.
Review 50:rooms to small, dark, to expensive for this Price per night
Review 51:Pool (a Little noisy new buildung was in renovation) Food in the Restaurant, nice very friendly staff, Golf excellent
Review 52:Shower in bath was useful in wetting the floor. Cappuccino not included with breakfast deal - it's a small thing, but do you really have to charge for it?
Review 53:Location is great - very peaceful. Air conditioning worked very well.
Review 54:This lodge is in a beautiful location with stunning views. It has a very good casual restaurant where we enjoyed our breakfast and we also had a lovely dinner outside on the terrace. We also ate at The Terroir restaurant which was superb! We really enjoyed the lovely pool and the quiet and peaceful rooms!
Review 55:The fact that we were requested to pay for a cappuccino at breakfast... increase your night rate by 10 Zar and cover the price of any tea or cappuccino, please...
Review 56:Location is ideal to visit the Winelands or to play golf.
Review 57:The standard room feels very budget. The bedding for winter is insufficient and there was no extra blanket in the cupboard. The shower head pointed to the wall and was impossible to shower without holding onto the shower head. Room dark and very small window with no real view
Review 58:The lodge is in a perfect location in beautiful surroundings.
Review 59:Not really a hotel. Seems more suited for self catering & group / family stays. Though the scenery is beautiful, the view from Kleine Zalze Lodge itself is disappointing and overlooks nothing more than a housing estate and golf course.
Review 60:Staff at the lodge were friendly and courteous. Dinner at Terroir was excellent. Good value in terms of room size.
Review 61:1) I was expecting a mountain view and got mainly a building view (some swimming pool and some construction site view) not much mountain. I think you should be more specific on the kind of views one can expect because I was disappointed to not get much of a a view (at the rate we were paying).2) The room's balcony was dirty (it had building debris lying on it and old pieces of plants material) and I think the outdoor chairs could have been put in its place outside because we only noticed them next to the tv cabinet when we were checking out. It made us feel as if it was a last thought to put us in that room/like you were not expecting us, it did not make us feel special. On a rare romantic night away, we wanted to feel special.3) The guy that checked us in told us that Pinotage 1 and 2 were using the parkings so we needed park down the road where the staff park. Again, we did not feel special at all. It was strange no one showed us to our room or showed us where to park.4) We were not pre-warned to booked at Terrior. It was highly disappointing to get to Kleine Zalze and realize that we could not get a seat at the restaurant. It is a big reason why we choose to stay at Kleine Zalze.5) The Lodge's restaurant food (dinner) was quiet disappointing except for the dessert. The fish of the day (cod) was dry my husband ordered a rare steak that arrived almost well done. We sent his steak back and even though the replacement was rare it was still terribly tasteless and a bad cut of meat.6) Booking.com mentions heating in the room. The air-conditioner's heat settings did not work and we were pretty cold all the time.7) We got to the wine tasting just before 5:30pm so that we were on time for the last tasting session but then had to wait at least 20 min to get some wine, this worried us because the tasting room was closing at 6pm. Our first impression of the tasting room was also shocking.
Review 62:1) The staff were friendly, well informed, helpful and professional. 2) The room was lovely for the most part and it was great to get a complimentary bottle of wine and a free wine tasting. All the toiletries were also lovely. 3) Breakfast was great and the view at the restaurant was magnificent.
Review 63:The shower was pretty much unusable, very poor pressure, most of the nozzles blocked, and the wall fitting was loose so it kept on pointing towards the wall.
Review 64:The suites were cold and the firewood provided was too little. There was no filter coffee provided for only instant. I booked having seen specials for dinner included at Terrior ... Which was closed ? The Inhouse restaurant menu should be broader if the actual restaurant is closed.
Review 65:Location and security and wine are excellent !!!
Review 66:The staff were unfriendly and wanted to move us from our breakfast table in the sun, even though there were 2 other tables they could've added together to accommodate the other guests.
Review 67:The view and the room was nice.
Review 68:No spa facilities ???
Review 69:The setting is magnificent and the golf course excellent
