Reviews for O'Callaghan Hotel

Review 1:I asked for a quiet room, I got the noisy all night traffic room. You can't order breakfast in the room the night before. No sistem in place for that. We order breakfast next morning and came after one hour and 30 min. The order was wrong and the orange juice disgusting. One person was scheduled to assist the restaurant and the room service.

Review 2:The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Review 3:The wall paper was peeling from the corner of the wall outside of the bathroom. Bar area/John Barry's - We sat for a few drinks. The classic cocktail I ordered was consistently made incorrectly and the original glassware was continually used for refills. At only one point, after refilling twice, did the bartender wipe the (my) lipstick from the glass. We were the only people in the bar and it was difficult to maintain the attention of the bartender to order additional food and drink. Eventually more customers arrived for dinner and the bartender was audibly annoyed.

Review 4:The hotel lobby and bar ambience were welcoming. The bed in the room was very comfortable. The receptionist and the valet attendent were helpful and pleasant. The room was very clean.

Review 5:The room and bed were very comfortable and our room had a nice view of the street in the front of the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of Main Street. Valet parking was so convenient. We are planning to stay here again the next time we spend the weekend in Annapolis.

Review 6:Needs a bit of updating and the bar was not open on the day we arrived which was the day of The Military Bowl game!!!

Review 7:Love the location! Rooms were very spacious and staff was courteous.

Review 8:My receipt from the hotel was for $307.03 incl. valet parking. My credit card was charged $40.00 and $292.03 . How come this happened ? There was fire alarm going off for at least 10 minutes before someone silence it. They have no FSD or chief eng.on duty ?

Review 9:The light in the room was extremely hot. One of the lamps did not work, you couldn't turn the button.

Review 10:The staff was friendly and we love the bar and restaurant being on the premises. Beds were very comfortable.

Review 11:PARKING AT EXTRA COST, DINNER SELECTIONS POOR AND VERY EXPENSIVE, TOO "ETHNIC?"

Review 12:CLEAN, STAFF PLEASANT, ROOM IN GOOD CONDITION, GOOD TV SELECTIONS, BEAUTIFUL DINING ROOM

Review 13:Not really a bad experience, but the bed was rather stiff for our likening, the two bath towels were rather small and the room looked like it was missing a small couch, in the corner. The temperature was a little tricky to adjust, but we figured it out. If you are looking for a room with a view this may not be you best choice. But, if you are looking for a clean room and good service and friendly staff at a fair price for Annapolis, this is a place to consider.

Review 14:The staff were all friendly and the hotel was clean and well kept. The room was fine and the TV was new and had a great picture. It had a mini Fridge in the room, which we didn't need but thought was great to have. When we travel to Annapolis again, we will look up this hotel and would stay again.

Review 15:We had reserved a King bed thru Booking.Com. We got a queen and the room was very small, over the parking garage which was noisy, and next to the elevator which was noisy and also a lot of foot traffic and noisy guests in the hallway. When I complained about the bed size the person at the front desk said the room was booked thru a 3rd party and couldn't do anything about it. Also, I thought the $20 parking fee was unnecessary and no complimentary breakfast. Heater/AC unit one foot from bed with air blowing right on us made it uncomfortable, so I had to shut the thing off.

Review 16:The location of the hotel was ok and the bar was nice.

Review 17:nothing

Review 18:The staff at the hotel was outstanding. They were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Special kudos to Steve, Levi and Gary who enthusiastically responded to our every request. O'Callaghan is fortunate to have them in its employ. The location is excellent and allowed walking to almost every desired activity.

Review 19:Everything was great.

Review 20:Great location within walking distance of the Naval Academy and downtown restaurants and bars. Friendly, helpful staff and a very comfortable bed.Easy check in and check out as well.I would definitely stay here again.

Review 21:The bath towel were a little on the small size.

Review 22:The desk person was extremely helpful and patient. There was a problem with our reservation through a third party. He remained calm (which helped us to remain calm) and helped us take care of it.

Review 23:I had breakfast there Saturday morning and the service was below average. The only reason I tipped the waitress was that she didn't throw the cook under the bus by blaming him on getting the order wrong.

Review 24:Convenient and location.

Review 25:Out of center of town so no traffic and noise but close enough to walk comfortably. Nice bar and restaurant with a happy hour and very good food. Friendly staff. Valet parking. Balcony rooms on the main street offer great views of downtown capital buildings and naval academy. Should note stayed mid week this time. Have stayed in the spring also and still had a great experience.

Review 26:Carpeting stained and worn out in room and some of the drawers in chest and nightstand broken which I put together again- obviously not great quality. Somewhat expensive valet $20 daily.

Review 27:Large rooms with Queen beds and desk. Convenient valet service was courteous and quick. Nice to have a bar and restaurant in hotel.

Review 28:The room needs updating. The nightstand had a drawer that would not close, the soap dish in the shower was close to falling off of the wall, there were crumbs on the floor in the room and the walls and the floor in the bathroom were dirty. There was also no water pressure in the shower.

Review 29:We have stayed here before. The location is great. The staff was extremely friendly.

Review 30:Left something in room and it took several phone calls to get some action, we came back a few days later and picked the items up.

Review 31:great location, close to everything, great valet parking

Review 32:Neither the phone nor the clock in our rooms worked. The water pressure was so low that taking a shower was less then invigorating.

Review 33:The location and friendliness of the staff were excellent,

Review 34:That I could not stay longer in Annapolis!! The best town in the U.S.

Review 35:The staff was very helpful, the bartender prepared the best perfect rob Roy. Very classy would definitely stay there again.

Review 36:Room rug was shabby and dirty looking

Review 37:Staff was very helpful and polite. Only complaint is the rug in our room needs to be replaced. Old and stained. Other than that an excellent hotel

Review 38:Our room's carpet needed a good vacuuming

Review 39:Love the location, the business center, the wifi in room, the restaurant for breakfast, the valet parking.

Review 40:WIFI didn't work, room are old, smell bad, bathroom are not well equipped with no pressure on the shower, 1 soap and one shampoo for 2 days... For the price they are asking this is just not a good compromise...

Review 41:The valet parking was full and the parking structure across the street was fine, but a little ackward to get in/out with luggage

Review 42:Friendly staff; Very comfy room/bed

Review 43:View from the second floor was a shabby looking parking lot. Coffee maker was not operating properly. Breakfast buffet was so so

Review 44:A 15 minute walk to downtown.

Review 45:have stayed at a number of places with booking.com. I am more than suspicious that the hotels provide b.c suboptimal rooms. Once again this room was not great--1) "great Price" became "the same" after arrival when there was a $20 valet parking fee----this made the property the same cost as another we had stayed at multiple times that included breakfast, was 1 block from the waterfront and parking was free. I don't like Hidden charges!!! reconsidering B.C after multiple disappointments, 2) located right above dumpsters so early morning was a cacophony of engines, metal clanking, roller carts etc etc. Not Special!!

Review 46:nice hotel, but I think booking.com may get subpar rooms.

Review 47:The problem is the carpet is old and looks dirty and gross. The room smelled of dampness. The place needs to be remodelled. The paint job looks like an amateur did it. I would not stay here again.

Review 48:Staff was nice and accomodating. The beds were comfortable.

Review 49:It was dingy it needs an up grade badly when they cleaned the room they left all the pillows on the floor the staff was not very professional and really didn't pay attention to details

Review 50:Wouldn't go back

Review 51:One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at: they didn't have aroom with a king-sized bed like we booked, the check-in desk rep wasrude and offensive, the room itself smelled damp and moldy, and we hadto pay an exorbitant amount to park at the hotel. The check-in rep didnot try to be helpful or offered to resolve the situation when we askedwhy they didn't have the room. They just said "it's theonly room available." My allergies was acting up the entire time inthe moldy room. When we told them the next day of our bad experience, the front desk rep asked why we didn't ask to switch room...andwell, because the hotel told us it was the only room left when wechecked in, so we didn't bother asking! There was mold underneaththe sink rim. The soap dish in the bathtub was falling off. Myexperience was soured literally within five minutes of arriving at ahotel. That's definitely a record. I would never stay here again orrecommend anyone to stay here.

Review 52:We liked the location. It's close to Miss Sherry for a good brunch.

Review 53:The front entrance and valet was a mess with inconsiderate guests that park every one in and leave their cars unattended in both lanes.

Review 54:The location was fantastic and the staff was great.

Review 55:We originally thought it was fine but upon closer looking we were incorrect. There was torn wallpaper in the bath which I could have overlooked. The dried blood spots on the white duvet no !

Review 56:The location

Review 57:My room smelled like mildew and stale water. It was the last room available according to the front desk. The breakfast for 14.00 should have been included into the price of the room for what you get.

Review 58:I would have liked a relaxing area/ lounge to sit and read. I think this hotel mostly caters for the business traveler. In future I will look for a more intimate setting in a B&B Inn.

Review 59:Clean comfortable room with very helpful and courteous staff.

Review 60:No coffee pot in coffee maker, small insects in room.

Review 61:It was close to downtown, had a place to park.staff was friendly.room was quiet.Room had a fridge which was great.

Review 62:We had to pay for parking but that's common if you want to be that close to downtown.

Review 63:Great location for the price. Not on the water but walking distance to the main downtown area, restaurants and shops.

Review 64:The only thing we did not appreciate was having to pay such a high price for breakfast. For the price of the hotel room, we are used to a good complimentary breakfast.

Review 65:The staff, the comfortable and quiet room. Great location to walk to historic Annapolis.

Review 66:There is nothing that I didn't like about this hotel.

Review 67:The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff are all very friendly. It is within easy walking distance of the Ramshead, where we usually go to listen to music when we stay in Annapolis. It is also within walking distance of Main Street and the dock.

Review 68:The carpet in our room was in need of replacement. There is only so much that cleaning will do and the smell of carpet cleaners isn't so pleasant either.

Review 69:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 70:No food. Flight delayed so arrived about 10p bar full of wedding guests but kitchen closes at 10. Staff recommended local eatery to deliver. That's fine but a weary traveler wants access to convenient cocktail & food upon arrival.

Review 71:Comfortable accommodations. Friendly staff

Review 72:Our room was on lower floor with a basketball court outside. The sound of dribbling through the window was incessant. Narrow halls and room tucked way back made in and out travel uncomfortable. A complimentary newspapercwas no where to be found.

Review 73:Location worked well.

Review 74:The hotel did not have washer/dryer facilities, my daughter and I walked into a bad neighborhood looking for a laundromat. The room was clean but looks dingy.

Review 75:Location

Review 76:I booked 2 rooms, 3 months in advance, through booking.com, paying for them in advance to get best possible rate. I even called the hotel personally to double check on best rate. Well, at check-in, a couple to the right of me was offered a rate $70 less, per room, same room type. Infuriating. Hotel needs a renovation badly. Our rooms on 5th floor were sub-par. Carpeting to drapery to bathrooms need to be replaced.

Review 77:Henry, at check-in, was most accommodating. Valet staff was terrific.

Review 78:Check in staff did not seem clear on what she was doing. Think her name was Danielle.

Review 79:Location and valet support staff. Do not remember his name...believe it was Greg.

Review 80:One of the valet guys was a little presumptuous about the forthcomingtip. I asked him at the hotel's reception counter for change for a$20..and he said something like "Well...how about if I just giveyou back $15?" I said..."Don't you have any $1 dollarbills?" He said, rather rudely, "No...and kind of glared atme..." Seemed like I was constantly tipping those valet guys--like everytime I got something out of my car! The tips were on top ofa $20 per day parking fee....so I don't think that valet guyshould be snooty about a tip--he was getting multiple ones from meduring the week... I

Review 81:Soft pillows, crisp sheets, convenient fridge in room, large bathroomcounter for women's cosmetics, etc. Love that they have free coffeewith reall half & half in the reception area...

Review 82:The guest around us were noisy and the housekeeping didn't replace everything that needed to be replaced everyday. We always had to call down.

Review 83:The location was good.

Review 84:The staff was not very knowledgeable about their property (the front desk didn't know where the fitness center was and had to ask), did not understand the booking.com reservation, and did not know why their total for the stay was different than what I was billed online. They acted as if my questions were an inconvenience to them.

Review 85:the location is very cereal to the downtown historic district and I close proximity to everything.

Review 86:Staff needed trtaining in detail service. Might have been lack of staff. Wasn't ready for summer season or weekend. no tea bags in room. Nice bar with great beer selection but staff memeber (only one friday afternoon) rushed.

Review 87:Walking distance from bay and historic shopping district

Review 88:The room and bathroom seemed a bit dated and there were some cob webs about.

Review 89:The location was great for us but it's a little far from "downtown" Annapolis.

Review 90:I ate a very quick breakfast (from buffet)without checking the menu, and it was a bit pricey.

Review 91:I appreciate the easy walk to the Academy and the shops/restaurants, and the price for a very nice hotel is reasonable.

Review 92:Valet Parking was $20.00 per day. but the Valets were pleasant and very quick.

Review 93:Located conveniently in Annapolis. Within walking distance to many Annapolis attractions such as Naval Academy and State House. Very attentive staff. Room was comfortable and clean with an outstanding bed. I would immediately book O'Callaghan Hotel on my next trip to Annapolis.

Review 94:I am not the only one to think this, a lot of other friends I have that have gone there agree - the bedding is just terrible. I don't know if it's their detergent or what, but they are pretty rough and not soft at all. The restaurant is definitely not anything to write home about - way too expensive and most of the time we went down there (even during the day) they weren't open or there was nobody there. Considered room service a couple times with them, but they are VERY overpriced for what you get and the food. My friend ate there and said the food was definitely not as good as it should be for the price.

Review 95:I was visiting my boyfriend who is a Midshipman at the Naval Academy for a 3 day weekend and stayed here Saturday Night and Sunday Night. We had to wait a few minutes for our requested early check in, but it was expected as they were fully booked the night before. Nice little room for my boyfriend and I with a great set up - Huge TV we watched most of the weekend. The thing I was most impressed with was its location to the Academy. It was about a 10 minute walk and we didn't need to have a car at all to get around DTA or just to go to restaurants. Saying as their biggest competition right there is probably the Westin (about 200 a night) or Lowes (about 170 a night) it was a pretty great deal to be that close and in a great spot for only $100 a night. Overall, we would consider staying there again, especially because of location and price.

Review 96:Value was okay. The room cost plus valley was maybe $180.00, but I think in the future when we go back to Annapolis we'll stay at a bed and breakfast for about the same or less and be closer to downtown with more amenities. Staff and experience wasn't memorable, sort of indifferent.

Review 97:Rooms and facilities were very nice. The location is *good* but you're still about half a mile from Main Street and the docks/harbor, so if it's really cold you'll still might need a cab (which can be hard to come by in that area). There's a decent amount of restaurants and shops nearby, though.

Review 98:Tired facility broken fixtures in Tub, dangerous broken metal hanger in tub/shower....a fall would most certainly result in a major incision....no heat in room...

Review 99:Hot cider on arrival in the lobby, courteous valet parking and front office staff, very comfy beds, walking distance to downtown Annapolis, directly on trolley route, will definitely return

Review 100:Hotel's web site indicated a breakfast buffet, but we learned this was only available on high volume weekends. An Irish hotel without whipped cream for an Irish Coffee order!

Review 101:Location and value for price of room

Review 102:Bathtub and bathroom floor need some help. Big fat cobweb behind the corner standing lamp.

Review 103:Great having a balcony on the top floor and able to leave door opened at night, secured with doorstop. Very friendly staff, easy walk to all the restaurants and sights

Review 104:My room had a closet that opened about 10 inches. Could not hang clothes in it or get to the safe. Also the bathroom needed serious caulking and repairs around shower area. For nearly 300 a night you expect more.

Review 105:Great ambiance and location.

Review 106:The only thing I would say I'd like to see changed is the menu in the resturant. For being an "Irish" hotel I'd like to see some more Irish options. However, the food was very good that we had there.

Review 107:Loved everything about this hotel!! Very nice, staff was extremely friendly! Great location!! We will be staying there again!!!

Review 108:Had to pay for valet parking (tacked onto my bill) Staff (on phone - not helpful) No rollaway or trundle bed not offered for guest(s)? Lighting in room was poor Toilet seat was not anchored well

Review 109:Location to my venue Valet Parking Staff (in person) Comfortable bed

Review 110:We were awakened in the middle of the night by a fire alarm. We stood outside in the cold for at least 40minutes with no explanation. We were then herded into the restaurant for 15 more minutes still with no explanation. We were then released with no word. We couldn't have been more poorly and disrespectfully treated. Ps- there was no fire- someone set off a fire extinguisher

Review 111:Weird smell in the carpet. Perhaps lysol and cleaner?

Review 112:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice having the happy hour. Beds were comfortable. Valet worked with me on keeping the car longer. I'd certainly come back again.

Review 113:Very expensive because of boat show. Wouldn't pay that rate for a normal stay. Hotel was clean but worn in places. Not very sound proof, could hear every noise in hallway.

Review 114:Location was great. Hotel let us keep our car there after check out while we went to the boat show.

Review 115:Noisy clattering fan in bathroom.Lack of sheers at window to let in light and afford some privacy'Need more lighting in room.If I had paid full rate I would hve been disappointed.

Review 116:Liked area,bedding ,cleanlyness,staff.

Review 117:Older, musty smell, fridge didn't work, loud housekeeping staff (yelling down the halls dearly in the morning), loud halls

Review 118:Location, cheaper than rooms at the wedding reception site, fridge (if it was working), nice TV with good channels. Beds comfortable, clean bathroom

Review 119:A/C was loud and room was warm at night. Slight musty odor which may be caused by the older carpet.

Review 120:Location was excellent and the staff was friendly. The room was a nice size with two queen sized beds. The cost of the room was much better than other hotels in the Annapolis area.

Review 121:We stated in room 232 It was nice . We could not get the ac to work correctly. 71 was to cold and72 turned on the heat. The unit turned off all night and did not come back on till morning. Making the room to warm :( Also was surprise we had to pay for valet parking.

Review 122:Staff was friendly ! Location was great!

Review 123:I thought the restaurant would be more pub style and crowd friendly but it's the usual hotel restaurant atmosphere. Many casual dining options nearby. Chick and Ruth's Delly is the best for breakfast!

Review 124:The free tourist trolley picks up across the street and drops off in front of the hotel! 6 am- 2am hours on the weekends so access to the waterfront is always there. no need to drive all weekend unless you're going out of town.

Review 125:The only inconvenience was the parking. They handled it as best they could due to the limited parking in the area.

Review 126:We were on a tight schedule, so the convenience of the free trolley stop and the closeness to the downtown area allowed us to see more attractions. The staff was very polite and informative. We enjoyed the lounge for appetizers and a drink in the evenings and would be glad to recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 127:I loved everything about it. It was convenient and everything is up to my standards and the staff were just sweet as they could be and they checked on me from the time I checked in til i checked out. I had a great time!! Thank you so much for making my stay convenient!!

Review 128:The on-location restaurant looks nice, but they are not really staffed to serve meals. Really more of a nice bar with food. Service was friendly, but very spotty. At breakfast, I had to go to the bar to ask for a coffee refill. Our last day, we went out early to pick up our candidate from the Academy, and upon return found our key cards didn't work even though it was well before checkout. Back at the desk, staff told us that cards are automatically deactivated first thing checkout morning even if it's not time to check out. They reactivated them for us, but it would have been nice to know before we were locked out of our room with all our stuff. Staff was very cordial and helpful, but the situation was very annoying.

Review 129:We were in Annapolis for a Candidates' Weekend at the Naval Academy. Location is easy one mile walk to the Academy, the air conditioning worked well on a ninety-degree day, room was clean and comfortable with an HDTV, and the staff was friendly. Also, we came in on a red-eye from Seattle, and they checked us in early, no question.

Review 130:A bit pricey, if you have a car you're only allowed to use the valet service but in the bill they charge you for the valet as an additional charge.

Review 131:rooms were great, pillows and bed were comfortable, bathroom was nice- everything worked. Room came with a refrigerator

Review 132:Room was way too hot and a bit uncomfortable, cleaning people barging into room in morning, and with money it cost for room the breakfast should have been no charge .

Review 133:Front desk , valet parking

Review 134:House keeping sloppy. Forget to leave wash clothes, next might forgot to leave soaps. Waste basket not emptied

Review 135:Good value for the money. Clean, and excellent location Tourist bus stops at corner

Review 136:The windows are so bad quality. I had a room on the 3rd floor with view on the street, and I slept very bad, a lot of cars and trucks running on the street during the night. Just want to share with you my experience with this hotel, maybe if someone will have the same experience to know what to do. I arrived at the hotel one day later then planned (due to flights delay) and I had the surprize that my reservation was cancelled! I was writing a message to the hotel to announce my delay, but staff from hotel told me that I should have called Booking, because I made the reservation trough them. Fianlly, they found a room for me and I could stay there.

Review 137:Staff was friendly and helpfull. The location of the hotel is quite good, you can either walk downtown or take the trolley. Bed was confortable. I had no breakfast at the hotel so I cannot say anything about this. Wifi in the room worked well.

Review 138:No one ever vacuumed our room. My husband found someone else's trash under the bed as well. We decided to leave the housekeeping tip under the bed to see if the housekeeper found it. If they did, they deserve it. Also, we never received our 7am wake up call on Saturday morning so we were rushing a bit to get home for a church event.

Review 139:Room was very spacious and in good walking distance to the Naval Academy, which is what was the primary focus of our trip. Gentlemen at the front desk were very professional and friendly.

Review 140:Valet Parking at $20 per day is too high when you can park across the road for half the price.

Review 141:Good location, great town, very nice hotel, well equipped large bedrooms & friendly staff.
