Reviews for Little America Hotel Salt Lake City

Review 1:The decor was a little worn and the bathroom had an old or urine smell.

Review 2:The location was central to everything and TRAX was right outside the door to take us to our destinations.

Review 3:The price the old out dated rooms and the stone they used in the lobby looks like a side of beef

Review 4:Nothing way to over raided it was nice in the 50s but needs updating won't ever stay there again. U can get a bigger and nicer room for half the price across the street at the dubble tree .

Review 5:The worst part about staying at Little America was having to leave!!!

Review 6:Fantastic food, services & facilities! We were so pleased & will make staying at Little America a definite habit!

Review 7:Some of the staff had an attitude when problems were brought to their attention to correct. Evening turn down suddenly stopped. Replacement of missing bathroom hair dryer was done after implying we had not looked for it.

Review 8:The room was great. Restaurant was excellent

Review 9:Poor bathroom layout. Shower leaks thru shower door. Door to bath room awkward. Closet poorly laid out. No room to place toiletries on sink. Bed and pillows uncomfortable.

Review 10:Great location. Clean facility.

Review 11:We had a very nice room with a refrigerator - no microwave!!

Review 12:The fitness a pool area were good - even shower and steam room! Staff very accommodating. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 13:the outer motel buildings have aged and while clean the room had cracked tile, cracked sink, outlet not working, peeling paint

Review 14:main building is very nice, clean

Review 15:They put use in a room right next to the elevators on the top floor. It was so noisy we had to call down to the front desk and request a new room at 1 in the morning. When we went to check out we made the complaint about our troubles and she didn't even offer an apology. Honestly she acting like she could care less how our stay was. The beds were very uncomfortable. I feel like they are very over priced for the beds and service we received! I will not be going back and would not recommend it to anyone!

Review 16:Close to city creek and many great restaurants

Review 17:The lounge staff was very very rude. The coffee shop was always packed. The front desk staff were moderately polite.

Review 18:The room was clean and comfortable. Houskeeping staff was excellent.

Review 19:It seems when I book on line I am always at the most remote location in the hotel. I ordered two rooms exactly the same. One was nice, the other was much smaller, yet they charged me the same price for both. I had paid for the rooms prior to the stay so there should have been no additional charges, especially for my guests, however when they checked out they had a $50.00 charge on their room. The accounting office was closed so we don't know what it was for. We need to contact them at the first of the week. If there is an up charge for booking on line of $50.00 it takes the bargain out of it.

Review 20:It is a very good location and the facility is a very nice hotel. Very clean and well appointed.

Review 21:Best employees. They were so kind. Food was good in the coffee shop. Also nice food in lucky H. Woman in Concierge helped me a lot. 4 nights of comfortable staying. Room was neat and clean.

Review 22:We were told that this would be a great place for an anniversary retreat. I booked the room and was excited to get the the hotel. Checked in, the lobby was beautiful. Got to our room, we couldn't get the key to work, took us a few minutes to get in. Once we did, we saw the room was nice and big, although somewhat dated. It also smelled old. We found a towel in the toilet and there was trash on the ground next to the bed. The TV was glitchy and what channels were listed on the "guide" did not match up to the stations. We went out to dinner and when we came back it took us almost 5 minutes to get the key to work again. When we opened the door our room smelled horrible. It smelled like someone had used the toilet and it had backed up into the room. We called housekeeping and they said they'd send someone to come up and spray it with an air freshener. In the meantime we opened a window to air it out. We waited for over 30 minutes and no one came. We wanted to get on with our evening, so we called and told them not to come. We also noticed the shower didn't drain very fast. We don't have a lot of money, and this was supposed to be a special occasion for my husband and I, and it it was really disappointing.

Review 23:The lobby was beautiful, the location was great, the staff we encountered were nice.

Review 24:There was a dirty diaper on our balcony when we got there that stayed there even after the maids came through. Also the shower was broken. The handle that decided the temperature was loose and wouldn't stay at a comfortable water temperature. It kept falling down to burning hot.

Review 25:The room was big and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was located close to downtown.

Review 26:The in house coffee/tea.chocolate supplies in the bathroom were lacking. Only one hot cup and only one decaf coffee packet. Not really a big deal.

Review 27:the king bed, the room size, the coffee shop, the quiet. Nice overall.

Review 28:The staff was not nice. Especially the front desk. There were weird stains all over the room. No pay preview. Basic cable for the price you would definitely expect more and they over charged me!!!

Review 29:The rooms view was okay.

Review 30:Rooms really need to be updated, old hallway was really smelly. Swimmingpool too cold to swim. Last year we stayed at the Marriott, we do thisevery year for Christmas and my grandsons Birthday, they left himcookies and milk very careing staff.

Review 31:The restaurant is very nice.

Review 32:Didn't get the room we wanted...booked a king and got a double queen room instead. Water issues...water was our from 8 until early in the morning one of the nights.

Review 33:There was no parking available. I had to pay $15 for valet parking because there was no 10 minute parking available where I was suppose to park to check in. The water was luke warm when showering and the room temperature never got very warm even when I turned the thermostat to the highest it would go. My children complained through out the night how cold they were. I was very disappointed, especially because it was my first time there.

Review 34:Location

Review 35:wi-fi signal dropped out constantly

Review 36:great hotel located in the heart of downtown SLC. very inviting atmosphere. wonderful and attentive staff. very quiet room. excellent restaurants in-house. (seriously -- I had the best hamburger I've ever eaten in their cafe!!)

Review 37:Rooms need to be upgraded in the bathrooms, they are very dated. Sinks were bad. The main hotel lobby is so beautiful and expensive but the 2 queen rooms are not that nice. We probably won't stay here again.

Review 38:Location, location, location. The Coffee Shop has always had great food but with the new remodel, it doesn't look like a coffee shop anymore. Food is still great though.

Review 39:Front Desk Staff seemed a little grumpy. But it was probably because there were a ton of kids running around the hotel since it was a holiday weekend.

Review 40:The rooms were all renovated and the bathrooms were huge, with nice wood flooring and furnishings. There was plenty of parking and it was free of charge. The views of the city are beautiful if you are on one of the higher floors. Their indoor/outdoor pool is great as well as their hot tub. The hotel is right across from Courthouse Trax which is within the free ride zone which will take you to City Creek, Temple Square, The Vivent Center, and the Gateway Mall.

Review 41:Being robbed. No apologies, compensation or consideration of safety and my value as a guest. Rude staff. Tv not working for half of stay. No help getting things taken care of

Review 42:Location and dining options

Review 43:Dint like first room, it was different than the ones I've had when staying there before. I asked for a different room and it was no problem at all. They were so friendly and hejpfip!

Review 44:kind of expensive, but pretty typical for how nice it was. also, the room didn't block out much noise. we could hear everyone in the hallway.

Review 45:close to everything! a fun place to be to experience salt lake city.

Review 46:I love Lil America...eating at the Coffee Shop is our favorite..we love the fresh flowers in the lobby and the welcoming fire in the fire place....it is hard to leave!!

Review 47:My room was not very clean. There was white stuff smeared all over the windows, small hairs on my sheets and globs of hair stuck to the shower walls! When I told the staff at checkout, all the clerk said was gross. I felt for the money, the room was not cleaned and I was really grossed out!

Review 48:I loved the lady that checked me in. She was so sweet and friendly. The restaurant had delicious breakfast.

Review 49:Motel Court side Rooms are noisy. Either noise from neighbor rooms or vent noise, entry doors slams... In my case there was some noise every half an hour from some bad vent hitting something somewhere near my room. Like old jumping wash machine. They give me other room after my complaint.

Review 50:My only complaint is that the mattress was uncomfortable. The bedding and pillows were wonderful, but it was painful to sleep on that mattress.

Review 51:Little America is classy, clean, and the pool is a hit with the kids.

Review 52:They were in a hurry but could have spoken slower as he gave out info. Would have liked a quick breakfast for free.

Review 53:Great facility but too large for my taste. Staff was friendly.

Review 54:Our bathroom was quite dirty. It had hair on the floor and counter top. The tile on the walls has something splattered on it that had not been cleaned off.

Review 55:Beautiful grounds and lobby.

Review 56:Rooms need renovation. If the owner spend some money for that, it can be one of the best hotels in the area.

Review 57:cleanliness, excellent personnel, very good coffee shop, excellent restaurant

Review 58:i had ordered a cheeseburger and by the time it got to my room the fries were a little cold, and my breakfast the next morning my eggs were cold as well but other then that...i LOVED this hotel!!

Review 59:i loved the size of my room and the room service! especially for the great price i paid!

Review 60:The mattresses could be updated as they were a little hard.

Review 61:Every staff person we dealt with from bellmen to valet, front desk and restaurant workers were friendly and helpful and pleasant.

Review 62:We didn't have hot water--and the check out staff said, I'm sorry, and left it at that. No hot water?! I could've paid $79 in the same neighborhood for hot water and a free breakfast.

Review 63:The room was lovely, as was the view.

Review 64:It was hard to find the front desk when I entered from the light rail side. In general I thought lobby was confusing.

Review 65:Comfortable room, staff on the floor were friendly and pleasant.

Review 66:The room was depressing and we heard the tram line right outside our window the entire night. The hallway outside the room was a very long walk for my old mother (86 years). The decor of the room was dingy. We switched to the Grand America after 1 night.

Review 67:The lobby was nice. The parking area was close to the door of our room.

Review 68:The hotel was over booked so they took all of the parking away from the guests forcing us to valet park for 7 bucks a night

Review 69:The dinner we had in the casual dining restraunt was excellent

Review 70:Ended up in the ER because of a head laceration caused by a piece of metal that was sticking out of the sunroof of the golf cart the hotel used to transport me to my room. The hotel security seemed ill equipped to handle this lesser emergency. The hotel did give me a room upgrade but would have preferred to spend my first night in my room and not in the ER.

Review 71:Room was amazing.

Review 72:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 73:Everything about this hotel was excellent. Staff were friendly & very helpful. The rooms we had were perfect with great facilities & comfort.

Review 74:Staff was very helpful and professional. My room was great value. The hotel is Central location to lots of fun things, including nightlife and music venues.

Review 75:We stayed in the "older" part of the facility which was very nice and enjoyed the lobby which was relaxing and lovely. Highly recommend. Walking distance to downtown and Temple Square.

Review 76:Front desk ignoring you for minutes while you standing alone in front ofthem. Location of rooms confusing - asked about elevator, gotinstructions how to go there by stairs...Asked for help finding elevator - got promise that somebody will come and help - room service guy comes 20 minutes later and pointing where is elevator (opposite side of building), so no help with luggage. Guy on the intercom inside hotel don't know where elevator is and proposes to search for it behind ice machine. Asked for 1 hour late check out - got NO and warning that if I will come half an hour later will pay whole next day (same rooms are NOT booked out for next day). Moved to another hotel nearby with same price and much simpler facilities, but with proper attitude. I was completely not expecting such staff attitude from middle price downtown 8.8 rating hotel. Staff shortage?

Review 77:Location, facilities.

Review 78:The hotel was not expensive, but is an excellent facility including fancy lobby and outdoor pool with a central location. We were pleasantly surprised.

Review 79:The wifi was terrible. Couldn't connect and when you did it was very very scope. Couldn't get any work done.

Review 80:Very nice. Rooms were big, very good location, almost downtown.

Review 81:Wish it were a little closer to central downtown area.

Review 82:Beautifully appointed rooms--luxurious yet somehow affordable. Great patio views. Onsite restaurants are very good.

Review 83:Nothing!!!!!

Review 84:Great spacious clean quiet room. The bed was marvelous! We had a view of the pool in one of the garden rooms. The bell staff was very helpful and our dinner in the lounge was excellent and very reasonable. I would highly recommend Little America to anyone stopping in Salt Lake

Review 85:Very little complimentary service or items. If you called front desk for help with something there wasn't much willingness. None of the typical hotel service where they go above and beyond.

Review 86:Proximity, cleanliness, style and decor

Review 87:I have no bad comments

Review 88:The location was perfect. A hop skip and s jump to the lite rail and a short walk to some great restaurants. Very clean and lobby was very classy.

Review 89:Staff was very helpful. There was something wrong with the tv in my room and they upgraded me to a very nice suite. It was unnecessary but a very nice gesture.

Review 90:the parking was horrible. it took 10 minutes to find a place in the underground parking behind some caution tape. and it was as far away from our room as you could get.

Review 91:location was great, rooms were great

Review 92:did not know that the Garden Rooms were in a different bldg. Rooms were nice, just a slight walk to the main lobby and dining. The decor was old school but very nice. Had some issues with service for late coffee in the coffee shop, basically ignored. and the Breakfast Buffet was expensive.

Review 93:Location and amenities were great. Parking was not an issue and the light rail is a block away!

Review 94:The atmosphere was a throwback to the 1970's - in a good way. Very comfortable and spacious, beautiful flowers and a clean room. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Review 95:The fridge wasn't working and it took a long time for someone to come and check on it. They did bring another fridge but it was quite noisy during the night.

Review 96:My daughter and I came for my birthday and we absolutely loved the tower room, we felt like princesses in a very elegant room!

Review 97:the room smelled musty the air conditioner only kept it tolerable the toilet wouldn't flush unless you removed the top and got the float unstuck and when I asked about all off this all the girl at the desk could say was she was sorry

Review 98:the location only

Review 99:Desperately needs an elevator. Had to carry luggage up flight of stairs which proved to be somewhat difficult

Review 100:Best room of our two week road trip...pure luxury, fantastic size, super clean, beautifully decorated

Review 101:Very busy that weekend. A little noisy because of this.

Review 102:The location was the best. Transportation was readily available, train, bus or taxis. Very comfortable bed and excellent food. Very close to other restaurants.

Review 103:Great hotel and location. Pool awesome. Wifi was frustrating at times. Improve that and it will be great. Will be back next year regardless but good wifi would be cool. Thanks x

Review 104:Staff when we checked out was extremely rude. It was early, so I'm guessing she just didn't like her job. She was not friendly in the least.

Review 105:Cleanliness, very nice facility. We rented 3 rooms and they were all together. Location was also excellent.

Review 106:Just because you book not with them they give you a bad room next to the laundry the air conditioner was way noise so booking it with booking.com you get there worst room.

Review 107:places to eat and parking

Review 108:decor need updating needed more outlets for charging phones etc. Room seem to hear a lot of outside noise from hall and street I thought the room was a little over priced

Review 109:The restaurants/ food was really good the grounds were very clean and pretty

Review 110:Hotel is very dated. It was a walk from the front desk to the room. Bathroom is very, very dated. The water in shower is a drizzle and not very hot.

Review 111:bed was great

Review 112:Picture on web site deceiving. Showed a beautiful, big room and we got a very small room and bathroom. I would rather see a picture of what I'm paying for and not be deceived.

Review 113:Restaurant

Review 114:The staff is very pleasant and very accommodating. We had to call down with a couple questions about public transit and what restaurants were around us. They were very helpful. We have stayed here several times and would definitely stay here again. Our room was in the tower. They are nice and updated. As a side note. We made the mistake one time of staying in a Garden Room. They are not updated and I was not comfortable having my fridge in the bathroom by the toilet.

Review 115:The hotel lacked the charm of an independent hotel and the amenities of a chain (microwave, fridge). The a/c never got the room cold, but it was freezing at the table beside it. The blinds without curtains made it tough to get both light and privacy on the first floor. The bathroom was too small to not have a fan.

Review 116:The pool was quite nice and the room was very clean.

Review 117:No elevator in the wing where we stayed. We had to carry luggage up the stairs.

Review 118:Beautiful lobby. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great downtown location at a good price.

Review 119:Room needs updating, not enough outlets. Refrigerator should not be in the bathroom less that 4 ft from the toilet. No microwave.

Review 120:Class act! You can tell that the room was 1st rate, just a little outdated.

Review 121:The TV is weird, limited channels, and the channel guide was not matching the actual channels, but a really minor complaints on a great hotel.

Review 122:Great location for downtown, free parking, the rooms are really comfortable, quiet.

Review 123:Stayed in the motel style accommodations where the first room was very musty. Immediately asked for a new one which was slightly better, but still bought an air freshener. When I mentioned this at check-out they said they could have supplied me with an air freshener... not exactly the best way to deal with the issue.

Review 124:Large hotel style looks amazing, but we stayed in the more average motel style rooms.

Review 125:Called and asked for an iPhone charging plug and was told they did not have one but could buy one at the gift shop. There was a charger in the room in the plug by the lamp.

Review 126:Quiet

Review 127:Some of the front desk staff could do with customer service training. Overpriced weekend breakfast buffet.

Review 128:Affordable luxury. AMAZING bed. Unbeatable location.

Review 129:No drinking outside the bar, and I understand that it is Utah state law, but it is weird. Plus, when the bar closes, you also close the restrooms on the ground floor? Wha??? Beds are very soft, one of us has a bad back and we needed to ask an extra bed (which we got and that was a good one).

Review 130:Kitchenette with fridge. View on the mountains. People at front desk, concierge, cleaning, kitchen etc. Swimming pool. Cafe with good food. Beautiful lobby with comfy chairs and couches. Interesting gift shop.

Review 131:The sink in the vanity room was slow

Review 132:The room was spotless, service was excellent..the bed was comfortable! All around this is the best hotel we've stayed in.

Review 133:There was nothing bad about this hotel.

Review 134:The grounds are beautiful with fountains and two pools. Our room was large, clean and well appointed. The lobby is beautiful. The lobby cafe is comfortable with delicious food at reasonable price. The staff are friendly and helpful. We used valet parking and were able to leave our car for the day after checkout for no extra charge so we could tour the area. The tram stops just 1/2 block away.

Review 135:The door keys were difficult to use. We were outside late at night trying to get the latch to unlock... And we weren't the only ones.. Once the humor wire off as we joked with the couple down the walk, it wasn't fun anymore. We were almost questioning whether to leave the room with as difficult as it was to get in. not a great feeling fighting to get into the room in the dark. And no alcohol wasn't involved. Move the smoking area away from the front entrance.

Review 136:Everything is available or with walking distance.

Review 137:This hotel offers a variety of rooms that fit anyone's style and pocketbook. We stayed in 2 different kinds of rooms. The first was a courtside, where the door opened to the outside and there were 2 levels. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It was small but we were only staying 1 night, so that was ok. We stayed a second night in a little more expensive room, and it was really lovely. This was again a 2 story structure, but the doors opened into a central interior hallway. The room had a huge bathroom with double sinks, a sizable sitting room with a lovely '30s style sofa and chair, large bar area with sink and fridge. One whole wall near the bed was windows with substantial curtains. The decor was very attractive French Provincial style. We really liked it. The room was quiet - we had a large family staying under us and never heard a peep. The main hotel tower has a nice restaurant and you can get coffee and muffins, croissants and other breakfast items at a little cafe area. We did not stay in the rooms in the tower, but the lobby was lovely. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel.
