Reviews for Lanzerac Hotel & Spa
Review 1:The staff in the restaurant were not very helpful at breakfast and dinner they were slow uninterested and it ended up with us making our own breakfast table. The spa were unwilling and the uninterested, not accommodating for people checking in.
Review 2:The location an property is fantastic the front desk were very helpful and gave us an upgrade. The wine tasting area is very good and the wine and ploughmans platter is a must.
Review 3:The cobweb in the restaurant windows! The dust on the cupboards- not the finish we expected.
Review 4:We loved the upgrade to room no 218 from the original booking. However, the original booking, a junior suite was located right smack in the middle of some construction work. Not OK! We enjoyed our stay immensely, the lovely grounds, the fantastic breakfast and great dining!
Review 5:Would have liked to be told in advance that certain areas are still being re-furbished, although we fully understand that this has to be done. Let's hope that the spa is next - lovely staff but a little dated.
Review 6:The newly refurbished rooms are beautiful, up to date facilities in classic antique filled suites. Service lovely especially the knowledgeable Kim in the Esquire Cigar Bar.
Review 7:The wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, friendliness and efficiency of the staff, excellent food and attention to detail together with the 'wow' factor of the buildings and location make this a place you want to visit again.
Review 8:I can not fault the experience at Lanzerac. Left relaxed with a smile on my face.
Review 9:Amazing hotel complex with friendly, attentive staff. Excellent facilities. Rooms well appointed & comfortable. Fabulous dining room. Supper & breakfast were absolutely delicious.
Review 10:spa very much needs updating but I'm told that will happen. a suggestion. why can't I take a sauna with my wife rather than being cooped up in a men's room? a sauna is a family affair. maybe that's just local culture though.
Review 11:I expected more from the room considering the 5 stars (however the staff makes up for it) - i.e. felt very plain.
Review 12:Lanzerac is beautiful and the staff were all very friendly and helpful! The food at the restaurant were amazing.
Review 13:We loved everything about this hotel - rooms, location, staff, facilities ... We visit Stellenbosch every year and wish we had found it sooner. We're already booked back there later this year!
Review 14:The gym needs some work, it's looking tired and we had a problem with check in times and a receptionist was very rude to one of my friends.
Review 15:The grounds, the pools, the spa, the food, the service in the main
Review 16:The quality of the food and presentation are excellent; the time taken in the restaurant is too long whereas the set menu is too short.
Review 17:The position and overall ambience remain superb. The surrounding hills, the lively town, and Lanzerac's own ability to keep its history while changing.
Review 18:Construction on the rooms nearby indicate that part of the hotel are being refurnished.
Review 19:We had a nice flat with a private terrace for two nights. A very comfortable bed and awesome bathroom. The way to the room was extravagant, but that’s part of the charm of this establishment. The service was always polite and very helpful. The outdoor pool is a jewel. The personal was most of the time attentive and gave us a good service. The terrace restaurant is very nice and the bar behind it has a charming atmosphere.
Review 20:Service is slow. Rooms could be cleaner and carpets need attention. Problem getting to the room if it's raining. Parking is inconvenient. Breakfast should be a buffet, not ordered from a menu.
Review 21:Rooms are huge. Location is great. Bathroom is huge and well kept.
Review 22:Not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. Food at restaurant average. Light cover missing in bathroom. Could hear our neighbours chatting at 02:00 am through the walls. Curtains and blinds hanging off the rails. Toilet seat needed replacing. Very very "Olde Worlde" without much style. Just a bunch of old furniture that could be bought from a 2nd hand store. After a $700 dollar stay I got a call the day after we left saying that they had not charged us for 2 mineral waters. Could we please provide credit card info for the $3. Not impressed overall - will not return.
Review 23:Fantastic location. Historic buildings. Manicured gardens Great pool
Review 24:Excellent room and bed. Dinner was fantastic and very good value for money for overseas customers. Staff was lovely and attentive. The grounds are just breathtaking
Review 25:Nothing.
Review 26:Friendly staff, good and reasonably priced food, good wine, comfortable accommodation, free wifi which came on automatically without confusing codes, relaxing ambience.
Review 27:Pool a little grubby.
Review 28:Staff and service excellent. Loved the wine on arrival and the complimentary wine tasting and tour. Very willing to accommodate a later check out.
Review 29:Only coffee in room was instant... for this quality of establishment, maybe a cafetiere & filter coffee sachets could be provided...
Review 30:Staff were excellent, especially the elderly barman (40 years there) & waiter (from Queenstown?), sorry, forget his name but he was superbe.. loved the cellar visit & the chocolate pairing was incredible - a first for all of us. Beautiful surroundings, quiet & peaceful. Perfect end to our holiday & will definitely return.
Review 31:We were utterly overwhelmed by the gracious surrounds and rich respect shown towards the profound history of an era gone by! This was accompanied by unrivalled service and friendliness by the efficient staff.
Review 32:The dinner menu, can you please have a pasta dish, and maybe some chicken as a main course. Apart from that the hotel was excellent.
Review 33:The attitude of the staff, the room, the breakfast, the general cleanliness of the hotel, the view from the hotel, the wine and the Deli.
Review 34:An oasis with some amazing wines and beautiful food. We didn't want to leave!!!
Review 35:Luxury room with very dirty carpets ( full of stains), completely used and an absolutely no go for this amount of money.
Review 36:Excellent food and service

Review 63:The whole experience was excellent, will definitely return at of the year.
Review 64:everything
Review 65:The service was excellent. Food delicious
Review 66:Quality of food is just poor. This is too bad, considering the high level of the venue. Lanzerac wines are not really in my top list. If you are looking for good food and wine, make sure to book a nice restaurant outside: there's plenty around.
Review 67:Outstanding premises and location. Nice room. Beautiful view. Very comfy. The place is large with a lot of facilities, including a restaurant, a lounge, a bar and a cigar bar, each one with its own fireplace. And of course a nice spa with beautiful view over the vineyards.

Review 71:Nothing!
Review 72:The food was fantastic, I ordered the curry twice in one day. Our room was superb and so relaxing, just what we needed at the end of our trip.
Review 73:There are many excellent chefs in The Winelands. Sadly the Lanzerac does not have one of them. We chose to eat out after the first couple of days.
Review 74:Great building in a lovely location. Staff very helpful and easy to be with.We will go back next year.

Review 79:Same menu both nights we were there, poor service in dining room because if new, untrained staff. Directions/signposting not easy to follow
Review 80:It is an oasis of luxurious calm, surrounded by stunning views of vineyards and mountains. The rooms we had as two mature couples were enormous and spared no expense the luxury front. Definitely lived up to expectations

Review 86:We loved our room and the delicious breakfasts and the staff were all very efficient at their jobs.
Review 87:The hotel should upgrade it's TV's to Flat screen TV 's in the rooms!.
Review 88:World class hotel , excellent food and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable.
Review 89:Everything is very clean and neat and set in beautiful surroundings, butsome of the facilities in the room could do with an upgrade.
Review 90:The welcome and reception was outstanding. Very comfortable rooms, beautiful bathrooms. Lovely gardens and public areas. Breathtakingsurroundings.
Review 91:Breakfast was challenging. Although it was included, we struggled to be assisted with even getting a table. It took 45 min to get eggs. When there is a wedding on (which there was on all 3 days that we were there), you need to know that your needs feel like they come second.
Review 92:location, location, location. Beautiful. A short car ride away from the heart of Stellenbosch, but absolutely stunning views.
Review 93:Well furnished with fireplaces in winter is brilliant. Enjoyed the wine tasting and location amongst the vines
