Reviews for Kings Perth Hotel
Review 1:We had to ask to change rooms immediately as the first one had a bad smell and was so grubby, the new room was better as it didn't smell but was still grubby with ripped curtains and stained chairs so bad had to put something on them to sit on them, would never go back to this hotel
Review 2:The towels were nice
Review 3:As we entered the building and approached the desk, one of friends who was staying in the hotel with me, needed to use the toilet so she proceeded to ask the staff behind the desk if she could have the key to use the toilets downstairs in the lobby as they were locked, the male staff member then proceeded to abuse her saying he is sick of this happening and you have to be a guest here to use then and she should stop lying to him when she said we had a booking but she is just busting and would like to use the toilet first and to leave if she doesn't have a booking and people like her always try to use the toilet without being a guest and always trash the toilets, she then had to leave and run up the road to use a toilet at miss maud's as I then proceeded to check us and then he telling me I didn't have a booking and I need to pay extra for a on the spot booking or I need to come back later if I only just booked it, all the while he was not helpful at all, I then got the email up as I had booked it 2 months in advance and showed him and then all of a sudden found it on his computer, then we checked in finally. the whole process taking about 30 minutes
Review 4:The room smelt like someone had thrown up in the middle of the room - I called reception straight away to request a change of room and was told they were booked out, there was not 1 spare room available..... i sense they were referring to the room 'type' I had already prepaid for, but no customer should be subjected to what I had to encounter that evening!!
Review 5:They granted my request for a late checkout
Review 6:Car parking is organised with the company next door - can't think of name but all over Perth. We received a voucher from the hotel to give us half price overnight. However when the process failed for some reason we could not get decent help for a reimbursement when we had to pay full rate. And I did email the address I was given with no response. So not directly the hotel's fault. Also the breakfast has very little sugar free options - need plain cereal (e.g. weetbix) and plain yoghurt.
Review 7:The position was great for getting out of the city - and for accessing pubic transport.
Review 8:its was dingy and dirty
Review 9:nothing to like after being shifted to another room the next night, at least the mattress springs didn't poke into my side all night
Review 10:The only catch is the Wilson parking next door. You get a voucher from the hotel which reduces the daily rate to $15. However, that is for each time you come and go. So make sure you only come in and out once a day or the parking gets very expensive. The foyer of the hotel looks nice but the rooms are a bit '80's' look. Old brown tarnished varnished wood. With a paint and a refresh this would be a lovely place. Having said all of that, we would definitely stay here again.
Review 11:This is a good no frills hotel. It was quiet (thick walls between each room), very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was large and it had a big window. It was close to everything in the city.
Review 12:Our bed needed a new mattress, the room smelt very dusty, in looking you could see the dust everywhere..
Review 13:Staff are friendly, close to city, breakfast included...have been there before..
Review 14:The hot water in the shower wasnt working properly, took too long to heat up.
Review 15:Room was clean, cleaners were very helpful, and it was quiet, couldnt hear the next room.
Review 16:Dated decor, broken shower soap holder and shower curtains are just no good these days. Overpriced at $220 for one night for actual room
Review 17:Friendly staff, great location,
Review 18:The staff were awkward and when I asked for a receipt when checking out they could not provide one as they insisted I was given one when I checked in! The hotel is way overdue for a make over!
Review 19:Parking was handy for inner city
Review 20:Very dated decor in need of refurb. Room was clean but had funny smell and old bathroom fixtures made the bathroom look not as clean as it actually was.
Review 21:comfortable bed. Was reasonably priced with deal but wouldn't have felt ripped off if I paid full price
Review 22:The view out the window was onto carpark which remained lit all night. Still could see light with curtains closed.Older fttings but comfortable
Review 23:The woman on the front desk was wonderfully helpful -thank you .Arranged another room with better air conditioning.
Review 24:Parking is always an issue for us Pity there is nothing in the basement Reception staff on arrival a trifle disinterested
Review 25:We felt the room was very 'tired' and that we did not get value for money.Good that breakfast was on site, pity there is no restaurant though
Review 26:Everything a little 70s and worn-off. My TV remote control had not batteries.
Review 27:Very good location in the Perth CBD. Very good breakfast buffet in nice environment with natural light and looking out to a corner on Hay St. is well worth the 15$ extra. Had a spacious 3-bed room, clean and very comfortable. Somewhat few, but efficient, uncomplicated and helpful staff. Anytime again.
Review 28:Bed side light[ reported] was potentially dangerous as the on/off switch was not insulated. Shower and plumbing in general needs an up-grade as the flow was dismally slow.
Review 29:Location was good and housekeeping staff friendly. The bed comfortable and the room was spacious and clean.
Review 30:Internet is not free. In a globally wired world and where technology is ubiquitous, I could not imagine that internet is a paid service in Perth hotels. Very frustrating
Review 31:The staff were helpful and willing to help, very hospitable.
Review 32:Staff didn't want to serve anyone , room looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70's, smelled really musty , air conditioning loud .
Review 33:Not much to be honest
Review 34:Lack of service and stains on furniture fridge not turned on. As was advertised that there would be in the room there was no hair dryer or mini bar supplied.
Review 35:The location
Review 36:Hotel has a "quite old" appearance - needs some brightening up We were booked into wrong room for first night - had asked for shower not "shower over bath"
Review 37:Convenient Location Availanbility of Breakfast
Review 38:Late check in 2PM. when check out is 10 AM. When you arrive in the city by 10 it means a 4 hour wait even though luggage can be checked in it is a long wait when you come from interstate.
Review 39:A great location close to the city centre.
Review 40:Hotel could not find booking, then over charged room rate, Blaming that I was too tired to read receipt. Shame on you night manager. Refunded overcharge next day. Not good enough will not be back
Review 41:Sink slow to empty, blocked. Reception staff unhelpful, they knew we were waiting for shuttle but did not tell us that it arrived around the corner, so we sat in reception and missed the bus resulting in another cab fare as on arrival there was no shuttle as described in website also, so cab into town. Disappointing.
Review 42:Location of Hotel, room tidy and well appointed
Review 43:The wall is thin, basically u can hear what the next door saying. Weak wifi.
Review 44:The location is right at the CBD which is perfect! Despite it is a bit old, you could find friendly staff, resonable service and decent facilities there. considering the price, Kings Hotel is perfect for budget travel!
Review 45:Very dated room - still in the 60's decor. Bathroom was appalling - tiles cracked, silver backing on mirror pealing away. Musty smell. Would not recommend staying there.
Review 46:Location was easy to get to by car. Also just a short walk to the center of town and places to eat.
Review 47:Pool not available which was one of the reasons we booked here, and were not advised prior that it was out of order. The floor of our room was filthy! Eg Old chewing gum stuck to the floor. Also our view was of a disgusting carpark. And the booking said king size bed but it was a queen.
Review 48:Location
Review 49:For a hotel that advertises "By Rydges", they should be incredibly embarrassed. This hotel was dirty, dirt and rubbish flew out of the air con when it was turned on, street level is completely surrounded by junkies and the first thing I saw in the morning when I woke up was a cockroach. I had booked for a two night stay but left after the first night. Being a "Rydges" I thought I could not go wrong but how wrong I was. I am more embarrassed that not only did my own staff have to stay there but we will also had all the big wigs from our international head office booked in there as well. Absolutely Disgusting!!!! That's the last time I stay in any Rydges hotel
Review 50:The only hassle I had was the cost of the room was taken out of my credit card twice and I had numerous emails from staff which I didn't really understand. It was resolved and my card was credited with the money so was eventually sorted out.Comfy
Review 51:Location. Familiarity - as I had stayed there before
Review 52:noisy people in adjoining rooms extra parking fee - additional to $15
Review 53:close proximity to Perth Central hot shower with good water flow the ability to choose whether air-con was needed
Review 54:We didn't like that wifi didn't work and it could not be resolved. Staff service wasn't as warm as, which was interesting..
Review 55:Booking was easy. We checked in and out with no fuss. We had a comfy room and spacious room.
Review 56:My booking was supposed to be 'pay when you stay' I believe but my credit cards were charged on 14 Oct, why?
Review 57:Wifi was available at no extra charge, checkin was efficient. Beds were comfortable. Lobby was very nice and clean and overall rooms, though carpeted, were very well kept.
Review 58:Phoned 4 x from room to reception with no answer. There was no information in the room about if room service was avaiable or close by restaurants
Review 59:Bed was comfy
Review 60:The reception staff were unfriendly. The hotel smelled unpleasent. The enterance and foyer were very unwelcoming, cold and out dated.
Review 61:The beds were comfy and the room was quite without any traffic noise.
Review 62:The hotel in general is in desperate need of a renovation. Furniture is old and room smells fousty. Lacks any Facilities.
Review 63:Superb location for Train, Buses and City Centre. Airport bus picks up and drops off outside Hotel. Friendly staff.
Review 64:Car parking off premises inconvenient. Getting luggage to reception and reverse was difficult. Room outdated, dark and needed ventilation. Breakfast adequate but overpriced.
Review 65:City Centre proximity
Review 66:Bathrooms could be updated a lil bit, the smell of the hotel and rooms smelt to much like air fresher or something it was just to strong
Review 67:Loved how close it was to city, staff was very helpful and friendly,
Review 68:Lack of restaurant fo evening dining No free parking for tenants Not enough tea bags and milk supplied No cold water in fridge
Review 69:Close to mall Good breakfast Pick up point for Adams tours Taxi rank outside hotel Free Wi Fi for 2 days 2 sets of lifts Staff pleasant
Review 70:For the money spent on the room, we could have got a much better room at another hotel that is modern and fresh. It was not worth the money. The hotel is a budget hotel and the prices should reflect that.
Review 71:The staff were polite and helpful.
Review 72:The hotel is badly in need of renovation. The room was comfortable but very dated with worn seats and markings on the furniture. The bathroom was in need of decoration. The balcony looked out over a multi storey car park and the claimed views of the river was a minute view between tower blocks. The room needed new carpets. However, the breakfast was good with a good choice of cooked or continental breakfast.
Review 73:Very good, central location with access to all city centre amenities.
Review 74:I didn't have a bad experience but the staff should have a little more knowledge about their city directions, buses etc and maybe they should update their rooms as they are becoming dated
Review 75:the location is great for my purposes
Review 76:Room was not very clean. It was run down and very tired looking. Staff were not very welcoming or accommodating. Why do all my bookings through booking.com seem to result in the accommodation issuing me a substandard room. Maybe I should book direct in future.
Review 77:the location was great
Review 78:Staff didn't engage in conversation. On check out had to wait about 30 seconds before the receptionist greeted me as she was doing some sort of paperwork. They were polite but that was all
Review 79:Nice rooms and comfy bed. Parking availability was a huge plus
Review 80:The staff. Receptionist Clare was NOT nice and very surprising that someone of that calibre would be working in Customer Service.
Review 81:Close to city centre
Review 82:terribly overpriced for what we got. Had to spend over $120 on parking and breakfast was not included in the $185 per night.... ridiculous! No mini bar. Very dated room and extremely dated bathroom which had very little lighting
Review 83:The bed was comfortable
Review 84:Room was just OK, bed not really good, a strange smell in the mattress.
Review 85:Very well positioned in city for closeness to bus stops and walking distance to foreshore, parks etc.
Review 86:The room was shabby. The carpet was dirty. The chair had torn fabric and one of the bedside lamps was broken.
Review 87:The hotel was situated in a great location - easy access to everything. The breakfast was good value.
Review 88:Did not like no car parking ,the daily cost of parking was quite high. Was unhappy that was not clear which end of your long street you were. We went to the wrong end and could not understand where you were. Also the WIFI system did not work very well.
Review 89:The hotel was right in town which made it easy to have a good look at Perth city. We slept well. We liked Perth.
Review 90:Room was a little stuffy on arrival and we were unable to reset the aircon but a large fan was bought up which sorted the problem
Review 91:Location was great Buffet breakfast reasonably priced
Review 92:No microwave No evening meals offered No wine glasses No jug of cold water in fridge
Review 93:Central location to Perth mall and shopping Full Breakfast included good value Quiet location Towels changed daily
Review 94:Somebody left a curtain hook in the chair in the laundry. I bled like a stuck pig.
Review 95:Easy access at all times. The staff was helpful and our room was attended to in our absence.
Review 96:Very run down needs renovating throughout. Dim lights in rooms, aircon was boiling, manager said open window. We did and pigeon flew in. Useless service. Terrible breakfast
Review 97:The location walk into the CBD is good.
Review 98:I didn't like the carpet at the front entrance, I thought it was dangerous with all the rolls in it
Review 99:The room was very comfortable, and very close to the lift, and it was cleaned every day
Review 100:The staff on arrival were unattenive and grumpy. The street noise from road and building works was intrusive. Most restaurants nearby closed before dinner.
Review 101:Comfortable bed
Review 102:Room was a little dirty. Blood stain on curtain, aircon was poor. And bed was small.
Review 103:In the city for a night so was only really a place to sleep. Good water pressure in the shower
Review 104:Staff were okay, but front desk staff were just 'distant' and only helpful when they were asked. Cleaning staff were genuinely pleasant and friendly. Lobby & hallways smelled like someone wearing too much cologne, trying to hide some other bad smell.
Review 105:Location was great, close to everything in the CBD.
Review 106:Reception said 24/7 but night bell can take someone 10 mins to attend to you at the front doors so be patient.
Review 107:Location and value for money are the positives of this property. It's very basic and old but is more than fine for a weekend quick trip. Bed is comfortable and room clean. You get what you pay for really.
Review 108:Room in desperate need of renovation . Carpets bathroom ect. No water in fridge. No plug for hand basin. Depressing dark room. Share balcony overlooking building & car park
Review 109:I was allocated a room on the top floor - 9. I came back from dinner to find the roof leaking very close to the bed. I couldn't get in and out without getting wet. I asked for another room. I was told that they could give me one for one night but for the rest of the 7 days that I was booked in I would have to move every time someone else came in and required the room that I was in. After protesting I was allowed to stay in the same room but in my opinion that was a very poor start to what was my first trip to Perth.
Review 110:The smell of the rooms. How dated and old the rooms were. No mini bar. I booked this via the Rydges site only to be told they weren't part of the PGR group yet and my Priority Group Rewards Card meant nothing. No restaurant or room service.
Review 111:Free Wi-Fi
Review 112:Carpet and bathroom quite worn and needing update. The taps in the bathroom were tricky to tighten. Plus, I was very tired from traveling the first night so ate in- but there was no plates or cutlery available. It would be a good optional extra to provide these types of facilities for the weary working traveller.
Review 113:Cleanliness and comfort
Review 114:Poor toilet condition. Shower head not flexible(difficult to shower infants/toddlers). Furnitures look old. View from balcony is facing carpark. Dirt stains on carpet.
Review 115:Spacious room. Breakfast is good but its even better to change menu everyday!
Review 116:Furniture is a little old/dated (although still functioning). The mattress is a little soft.
Review 117:The hotel is in a very convenient location - just next to the city centre but yet "far enough" from the noise. Room size is generous - there is a extra single bed in the room. Plenty of cafes closeby.
Review 118:Parking was a bit awkward. Lack of front access, with luggage was a problem. The $15 concession for parking was O.K. I will stay there again.
Review 119:Central, Friendly. Excellent Managers and Staff.
Review 120:No room service available and only in room breakfast available. which incurred an extra $10 just to be brought to the room.
Review 121:Nice central location, good rates, staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 122:The air conditioning wasn't cold and the sound proof of the room wasn't very good.
Review 123:The room with a balcony was great and the breakfast was good
Review 124:very noisy room, near the lift, noise from carpark and disturbed by cleaner despite asking not to be disturbed by using a sign on the door. Noisy guests screaming down the corridor poor sleep attained!
Review 125:close to the city
Review 126:place into a room with adjoining door to the next room and can hear the number of adults in that room doing everything to early hours of the morning.. not pleasant at all for family..
Review 127:location
Review 128:The European receptionist on the morning of Saturday 22nd August 2016 had to be the most unprofessional ,most rude with the biggest disregard of customer care I have ever come across in all my years for travelling around the world, I work for a large multinational company and myself, my company, my family my friends will never stay at this hotel again over this person, thanks
Review 129:Older hotel - in need of refurbishment. My room had a blocked off adjoining door - heard the neighbours TV and conversation. Hallway smelt.
Review 130:Convenience
Review 131:The room smells of smoke, I did offered to move to other room but its smell the same. this place need a renovation looks a bit tired.
Review 132:I like the fact that I had a big room, the location is brilliant and the staff are friendly
Review 133:We were surprised and disappointed that there were no restaurants anywhere near the hotel so we had to eat at Hungry Jacks, even though the hotel staff had told us there were several restaurants in the area. A reasonably priced pasta or pizza eatery would have been much more acceptable. There was no plug in the bathroom sink and we were advised that it was not possible to fit one to that basin. We could not adjust the air conditioner temperature in our room. The desk staff agreed to come and assist with this but it took so long for them to come up to our room we decided to turn it off as we wanted to go to bed.
Review 134:Clean and spacious room, good bathroom, comfortable bed, good location
Review 135:location to CBD fantastic BUT its the homeless end of town which is unpleasant in the evening.. arrived 12.30 and told I had to wait till 1.00 for check in when rooms would already be ready. At 1.00 there appeared a queue so we had to wait our turn which took a half hour. Could have been avoided.Lighting doesnt enable reading in bed.
Review 136:Big room that would have been great 30 years ago. however everything worked, bathroom small and dated but water hot and all working. Main road outlook but quiet. Price was half anything else in the CBD area
Review 137:There was a grey lining of dust around the room where the carpet joined the wall. The hotel may be old and have old fashioned fittings, that was OK with us, but it needed a good vacuum cleaner with a nozzle to clean around the edges.
Review 138:The location was central to the city. The servicing of the linen and toiletries was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. It was very good to have a refrigerator and tea making facilities.
Review 139:Nil.
Review 140:The duty manager a gentleman whose name I do not have was very pleasant. Very approachable and always courteous. A good candidate who would bring a good name to the Hotel.
Review 141:Hotel needs some renovation to give it a fresh look.
Review 142:I loved the location. Walking distance to Perth Underground station, Barrack jetty and many shops. Red cat and blue cat services just a minute walk away from hotel. Staff at reception are very helpful, friendly and pleasant.
Review 143:THE ROOMS WERE NOISEY AT NIGHT BOTH NIGHTS WE WERE WOKEN UP WITY BANING AND LODE MUSIC IF OTHER PEOPLE WERE CONSIDERATE IT WOULD BE A 10 OUT OF 10
Review 144:OVER ALL OUR STAY WAS PLEASENT REPORTED TO STAFF ABOUT BEING WOKEN UP IN EARLY HOURS
The Fine Print
