Reviews for Blue Horizon Guest House

Review 1:Very clean and neat lodge in excellent location above Gordon's Bay. Karen was a very helpful and considerate hostess, without being at all intrusive.

Review 2:This is a really lovely guest house. The deluxe suite is very good and the view is awesome. It definitely meets the standard of a 4 star stay. The host is also very friendly and I like the way the breakfast was set out. I will definitely return at some point in the future.

Review 3:The bed was terrible to say the least. It was one of those "2 beds pushed together" setup. On top of that, the bed was indented badly in certain areas. The duvet also needs replacing as it was of a very low quality and clearly outlived any luxury feel it had to begin with. If there's one thing I expect a hotel / guest house to get right, it's the comfort and luxury feel of the bed... and Blue Horizon Guest House far from delivered. In addition, the DSTV did not work and the wifi is only available for checking emails and other such basic uses.

Review 4:The backdrop of the mountain was beautiful and the staff were kind and accommodating.

Review 5:Nothing special, but as the house is on a steep street, the access to parking is also steep and many stairs have to be used.

Review 6:Karen is very welcoming and try to help the more she can. Rooms and breakfast are very good. Some rooms have view on the bay and this is a must. Restaurant Thirsty Oyster is great in Gordon's Bay.

Review 7:Room had everything needed and was very clean. Breakfast was good and a wide range of choices. Karen was very helpful and accommodating. Could not fault it

Review 8:Only a partial view of the ocean. Not within walking distance from the beach. Far from Cape Town attractions.

Review 9:Clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful owner and staff. Standard breakfast fare. Private balcony was a nice touch. Close to airport.

Review 10:It is very high up on the mountainside so make sure you are comfortable driving up and down steep roads.

Review 11:The room was spacious, well equipped and beautifully decorated.

Review 12:The host, Karen, is very insightful about the surroundings which was helpful for us first-time visitors. The guest house exceeded our expectations by offering a very generous breakfast and providing useful appliances and facilities. The guest house webpage does not oversell any aspect of the guest house, it is as stated and more. Karen and her staff are genuinely friendly and quite efficient. We had a divine stay!

Review 13:Not being trusted to not steal the coat hangars. Apart from this, our whole nine days were superb.

Review 14:The room both in decor and comfort. Balcony was overlooked by our room mate next door which compromised our privacy.

Review 15:That we were unable to stay longer!

Review 16:This exceptionally well run guest house is the perfect place to explore Cape Town and its environs. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and the views, from our deluxe room were stunning. We walked down the hill into Gordon's Bay and had a fabulous meal and then saw a whale and her baby basking in the water off the shore! It is within easy reach of the wine-lands and Table Mountain. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
