Reviews for Metropolitan Inn Downtown Salt Lake City

Review 1:Wish there were more things available such as the hot tub during the winter, other than that, quiet, close to everything, and comfortable beds :)

Review 2:Staff, especially Ricci. VERY helpful while in Salt Lake

Review 3:Building could use a remodel. Hints of mold in the bathrooms / shower. Very cold floors in the bathroom.

Review 4:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food area well maintained

Review 5:The towels are ridiculous, very small and very thin. The new beds have old sheets that don't fit. The TV's are very old.

Review 6:We love the temperpiedic beds. We like the rooms size. The motel experience is great to have acess to one's vehicle.

Review 7:The smell in the room is making me uncomfortable. They used too much cleanser probably and the cleanser is not so good. The noise of the heater made me a headache. Found a piece of hair in the sheet, God....

Review 8:Like the memory foam mattress

Review 9:Breakfast was a little weak, only breads, a few fruits, and just-add-water oatmeal... but I don't mind because the price for the night was right.

Review 10:Oh boy those beds are dreamy . Rooms were clean, free breakfast, and comfy beds.

Review 11:There was a lack of sockets in my room, I recommend taking an extension especially if you are using an adaptor (I'm from the UK) as my adaptor took up more space on the extension that was in the room. While there was a heater, the room was quite cold unless I sat by the heater. Breakfast could've been better.

Review 12:I needed to be within proximity of Salt Palace Convention Center and the surrounding hotels, therefore the location was perfect as it is only a short walk from there. The room had a very comfortable bed and was cleaned daily.

Review 13:Room was next to the storage and elevator so it was a little noisy.

Review 14:It's avery safe area, staff is nice, close to downtown, clean. Iy looks shabby from the outside but the inside is quite nice.

Review 15:I was a bit nervous about the fact that the door to the room is from the outside, but there is a dead bolt on the door, which worked fine. Also, it is a small room - don't expect too much. But, they did the best they could with it. I was impressed. Breakfast is very modest. One major thing that sort of annoyed me were the outlets - they were either occupied or behind furniture.

Review 16:Considering that this hotel is almost in downtown SLC, the price is great. Room smelled of fresh and clean when I entered. Bathroom is like in the best spa. Bed is soooo comfortable. I also needed a fridge and they brought me one. Huge parking outside for your car, too.

Review 17:The too-large old-school tv armoire, and lack of spots for chargers.

Review 18:What looked like a funky faux-deco upgrade of a '60s motel turnedout to be exactly that. Quiet, comfortable and economical place tocrash. Nice staff and easy location for both downtown and freewayescapes, plus it's a short walk to my favorite coffee spot. If youneed the full-luxe retro experience check out the Monaco for 3x as much.

Review 19:Noise from road and gas station next door.

Review 20:Proximity to Salt Palace, helpful staff (especially Ricci). First floor room. Kept my luggage on final day until I was ready to leave.

Review 21:Would be nice if rooms had fridges in them. Most people eat when they travel. Continental breakfast could also have more variety.

Review 22:I really enjoyed the beds, they were super comfortable. The staff and management gave the best service I think I've ever had. Will definitely stay there again.

Review 23:Some staffs are terrible. The facility is a little bit old.

Review 24:The location is great! And the bed is very comfortable. We stayed two days and three staff helped us, one of them is perfect! The other two had a indifferent attitude.

Review 25:Hotel in a great location for an unbelievable price that included a continental breakfast. The staff (except for 1 person) was so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 26:The outlets were in some weird spots, and while my room didn't have a fridge - they were able to bring one up for me.

Review 27:When you need an accommodation, the staff here are truly accommodating. Very customer service oriented and helpful!

Review 28:It was OKAY. Like nothing fancy, nothing over the top just good and for the price it was great. Nothing turned me off but the wifi did keep disconnecting on me. Only thing I could say as a critique is that the decorative look of the place could probably use some up keep to feel more comfy but other that.

Review 29:The bed was the best. Had to share the bed with my friend and I move a lot so it was great that it was so sound between us. Also the space to fit our luggage was more then expected. The breakfast was decent, mostly all carbs with fruit but not bad for the in room stay.

Review 30:The rooms are old and a coat of paint can't hide that. The hotel really needs a make over. It needs a renovation. Toilet set was chipped. Shower head needs replacement. TV old tube style.

Review 31:The beds are fantastic. Very comfy.

Review 32:We had an alarm set to wake up at 8:20 am, however we were woken up closer to 7 am due to the cleaning staff. We were in the bottom floor and people were in and out of the supply closet close to us and used a leaf blower. By the time it started to settle down we were leaving. Did not sleep well at all.

Review 33:Location. Price

Review 34:There is a lack of electrical outlets in the room, but I had seen that in other reviews, so I brought a 4 plug adapter from home, problem solved. There are no refrigerators (despite what you are told) so don't plan on getting one and plan accordingly.

Review 35:The front desk staff was awesome. They were friendly, helpful and very caring. I was attending a convention, and the location (5+ blocks from Salt Palace) was perfect and the price was right. My room was clean and comfortable. I will stay here again!

Review 36:We LOVED the front desk employee, Kimo!! He was extremely pleasant and eager to serve, and just plain friendly. What a great way to make a fabulous first impression!

Review 37:the room was that dirty that you could not wald barefeet in it without getting black feet afterwards. we tried to get a printout of our flight tickets. the attentand wanted to charge for this single print out extra. bad service.

Review 38:central location of the hotel.

Review 39:The area where breakfast is served is very small. Hard to get a seat at a popular breakfast time, you have to be early.

Review 40:Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very clean. Comfortable. Coffee maker in room.

Review 41:Again, as I mentioned earlier (I stayed a total of 3 nights here, one night a time), I don't like the deodorant fragrance they put in every room.

Review 42:It's a carefully managed hotel.

Review 43:No complaints at all

Review 44:Staff was amazing and super helpful!! Bed was comfy. Room was clean. And the location was perfect. Surrounded by much more expensive hotels the Metropolitan was a great value for an extremely pleasant stay!!

Review 45:The television was dated.

Review 46:The mattress and pillows were excellent. The room felt a little crowded with several pieces of large furniture but we appreciated having two chairs instead of the standard one. The staff was very helpful. The free parking lot was conveniently located to unload the car.

Review 47:almost everything; bad layout, bad lighting, old plasma tv, stupid TV console and cabinet that occupied the already jammed space, traffic noise, coffee machine only got power in the restroom behind the toilet bowl, dirty carpet, room smells with disgusting cleaning chemical odor, weird and useless space for ironing but no power wall jack. expensive by standard.

Review 48:nothing, only the downtown location

Review 49:We pulled up fairly late in the evening. We were just passing through and needed a place to sleep in a strange city. This was the cheapest value so we booked and pulled up- the parking lot was completely full and all the lights were out in the lobby. It was pre-booked so we were a little confused, tired and frustrated. A man appears from the darkness and guides my car to a weird corner of the lot. Finally some lights come on within the hotel and we get checked in. Our room was very typical motel fare. Nothing impressive.

Review 50:At least the room was not outside.

Review 51:Air conditioner's noise is too loud. Actually motels or inns which still use old-fashion air con all have this noise problem. I wonder why there are so many old air con in US :(

Review 52:Furniture are old. Security is good here. Police officers patrol regularly during nights and did spot a "mind-lost" woman under some sort of "influence" and took her in custody after she went wild with officers in the middle of night.

Review 53:WiFi did not work in the room, had to go to lobby. Would have preferred for the air conditioning fan to stay on rather than kicking on and off, it would have filtered noise and not disturbed sleep by turning on and off. We ended up using the fan so that we had continuous white noise and it would have been nice to have temperature controlled. The sink had no hot water.

Review 54:Pet friendly, great location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, great price, very comfortable beds.

Review 55:The wifi was not very good and I had to run the fan to block out noise, but I think that could be a problem at most places right in the city. The rooms are small, but it was okay for my purpose. Could use a refrigerator. Breakfast could be improved.

Review 56:I liked the bed, the location and that it was clean. The staff was friendly. Easy walk to the FHL and City Creek.

Review 57:Great location in Salt Lake City. Surrounding hotels were at least twice the price. Room was comfortable, although it was small and the furniture was "retro". Bed was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. We were able to walk or drive to most locations easily. I prefer to spend money on other things than expensive hotels.

Review 58:For half the price of one of it's neighbors, this hotel offered me everything I needed from a hotel (clean and quiet place to sleep and work, good WiFi, and a simple but satisfying breakfast), and some bonuses (the swimming pool, tempurpedic bed). Walking distance to the train station and many many local restaurants.

Review 59:The outside could be updated, lit up more in the parking lot, stairs and walk ways, and the hot tub was closed!

Review 60:The beds were very comfy! Makes for a nice restful sleep!

Review 61:Front Desk staff had no personality. The first person a customer meets from any business should be friendly and make me feel happy that I chose that business.

Review 62:Location is excellent and what is not to like about having The Wizard of Oz as the art in our room?

Review 63:We slept in a tempurpedic bed at an amazing value! Also the front desk was very accommodating about us leaving our small uHaul in the parking lot so we could explore Salt Lake City.

Review 64:This place is tired and old. And it smelled. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and no shower curtain. We asked for a shower curtain but never received one.

Review 65:The staff was very nice and the location was very close to where we were going.

Review 66:The bathroom had some mold on the ceiling above the shower. The carpet needed to be cleaned. my socks got dirty walking around in my room.

Review 67:The location was good; it was just a block or so from the Trax station. The staff was friendly.

Review 68:The breakfast was quite weak.... basically rolls / bread, coffee / tea, cold cereal, fruit.

Review 69:The staff was very helpful in getting us to our room and giving us information and maps for the city. Good location for the price.

Review 70:Gas station right behind room, therefore noise outside, also at night

Review 71:Really good mattrasses, simple but good free breakfast, in walking distance to city center

Review 72:The room smelled like someone had dumped an entire bottle of air freshener all over it. So perfume-y that we both got migraines! The TV was also so outdated it barely worked.

Review 73:The guy who checked us in and handled the room changing was so kind and professional!

Review 74:I loved that the beds we're temperpedic, they were so comfy. the staff was very friendly and nice. Had single serve coffee maker w/coffee and condiments.

Review 75:Facility was a bit old overall. Breakfast was not bad for continental, but there was another huge crowd that made the small in-lobby breakfast space feel like a frantic market of bagels, butter, and tea. They ran out of hot water when I wanted tea. Ended up only getting one slice of toast before starting my day.

Review 76:Very comfortable bed, friendly staff, decent wifi speed. Parking lot was right there too.

Review 77:Stayed for five nights for a conference at the Salt Palace Convention Center which was easy to get to from the hotel. Clean rooms with comfy beds. Great value for the price.

Review 78:Only bagels and sweet rolls for breakfast, but we didn't stay there for the breakfast.

Review 79:The room smelled very clean and the bed sheets were very clean and smelled good. The towels were soft and smelled good. Good central location.

Review 80:It's still a budget hotel. It feels cleaner than your average Motel 6 but It's no Hilton. I stay here whenever there's a convention in town and everything else is very high. Price ranges from 60 to about 120 tops as i recall. Recommend it!

Review 81:Price is right. It's the best budget hotel in downtown. Great location! Near all restaurants, bars and attractions you'd want to see during your stay downtown. Tempurpedic beds are really nice!

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations for local restaurants. Beds were VERY comfortable! This was the first time both my husband and I have slept the entire night through in a hotel. Location is great. No fridge or microwave in the room, but staff let us know that if requested they have it. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 84:The toilette pluged and the staff know it that they had always problem with the one in this room (205). The part I didn't like about it was the we as guest had to anplug it. Next time wouldn't do it again

Review 85:The Hotel was good only short walk to downtown and the bars. Had good sleep.

Review 86:The lack of, & placement of, electrical plugs. With so many electronics to charge, I had to go buy a power strip & have staff MOVE the TV armoire in order to get to the plug closest to the table I used as a desk.

Review 87:The friendly and helpful staff. The BED was WONDERFUL! The price I got through booking.com was exceptional for what I got! I will definitely stay there again!

Review 88:I have to plug my computer in, and needed a adapter for the electricity plug which wasn't available.

Review 89:The room was very clean and linens fresh despite the dated oroperty

Review 90:It took more than an hour for the room to warm up - the bathroom remained so cold could not shower The hotel was essential empty yet we were on the 3rd floor - at reservation asked for a room on the ground . Don't expect too much

Review 91:Great Location

Review 92:Exterior hallways a bit noisy.

Review 93:Very easy to get trains from this locale. Staff was very helpful in getting me info on how to get to VA hospital with maps and times for trains. Comfy room was great value.

Review 94:The drunk people talking outside in the parking lot for ever !!! The staff should have addressed that immediately. No excuses - the parking lot is very self contained and small.

Review 95:Great place to stop for a few days. Great location for walks up to main part of the city. Staff was wonderful. I will be back !

Review 96:Outdated rooms,spotty wi-first, some cleaning issues.

Review 97:The impeccable customer service and affordability well made up for the outdated rooms and spotty wi-first. I would recommend it for anyone traveling on a budget. Great location with easy access to Trax.

Review 98:We had an adjoining room to some very loud party-ers. There seemed to be no insulation around the adjoining door between rooms. We could hear every word they said clearly and had light coming in around the entire door. We asked them to quiet down after midnight, then had to call management at 2:30 a.m. again to ask them to be quiet. Bummer! We did not sleep well.

Review 99:The staff were great and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 100:All above

Review 101:I like that the staff was very accomodating and helpful. They k ow my name and make me feel welcome. I have to say the shower was horrible. And annoying, the toilet leaks and the outlets on the wall had two prongs and I had to get an adapter to use it.

Review 102:Shower was tiny and had been epoxied with some sort of latex paint, I guess to seal the grout to make it easier to clean. But it was peeling all over and there was mold growing around the floor. The water pressure was terrible and the shower barely dribbled. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet taking off. The room heater was old but effective. However it was very loud and had no sensor to shut it off. You had to turn it off when you felt hot enough. But then when the room got cold again you had to go turn it back on. I wouldn't stay here again despite the location and price.

Review 103:Bed was good.

Review 104:the rooms smell bad; like someone sprayed a bunch of stuff to get rid of the smoke smell -I wouldn't stay again, only because of the smell.

Review 105:great location in downtown SLC, free wifi, good appliances

Review 106:Although this hotel isn't a high end hotel, it was very comfortable and the price was very reasonable.

Review 107:Free parking. Located near many attractions. A gas station is located next door with many places to eat near by. The hotel provides a continental breakfast, fruit and coffee which will get you started in the morning. A coffee maker and coffee is provided in each room. The beds are very comfortable being new Tempur-Pedic memory foam. It is very unusual for a hotel to go through the expense of getting such a good mattress in each room...thank you. We had a very good night sleep.

Review 108:The free breakfast consisted of mainly toast or a bagel and some juice. We still ended up having to buy breakfast.

Review 109:The memory foam mattress was amazing.

Review 110:You can hear your neighbor's plumbing. But this an older hotel and not a private house.

Review 111:The location is about a block from the light rail. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the price reasonable. The staff was friendly and they are working to maintain and improve the building. The Art Deco themed room fit the ambiance.

Review 112:If I had to choose anything, it would be the paint job on the outside. But it's incredibly superficial and doesn't deter me from recommending the place.

Review 113:The temperpedic bed was amazing. The location was perfect. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Review 114:The continental breakfast does not contain any protein. Even a hard boiled egg would have been good instead of all the sugar as I am a diabetic.

Review 115:The location was good, it was close to the tram line so that we could do a bit of sight seeing the day before. Little to no traffic noise and near restaurants and a gas station next door. The service was good and the price was very fair considering it was downtown. The room was clean and the staff was friendly.

Review 116:Mini blinds would not close all the way, had to pull curtains for privacy. Walls paper thin. Television was very old (could only see half the image.) Zero easily accessible power outlets (no really - had to move the dresser and unplug the alarm clock.)

Review 117:New carpet. Cool Art Deco styled furniture. Good water pressure in the shower. No weird smells at all. Location was an easy walk downtown, would be great for a car too.

Review 118:Just needs more updating and fixing of older things...(electric outlets, cracked and scraped bathroom fixtures and tiles)

Review 119:Very fair price and great location in the city center. Clean and comfortable.

Review 120:Behind the bathroom door there was an old skittle, only 2 Kleenex in the box, remote didn't work, the bathtub paint was cracking, wallpaper was peeling, breakfast counter needed to be wiped off and the selection was very limited. I called the front desk on 4 separate occasions and the phone was never answered The person at the front desk in the morning was very curt.

Review 121:Location. The evening staff was very helpful.

Review 122:There is no dvd player in the room and the channel selection for the tv is lacking. The channel list says hbo but I had Showtime. Also I found the water in the shower to be a much too hot I can tolerate hot water but this water was unbearably hot. I could barely turn the shower on due to the heat. Maybe I did not understand how to work it?

Review 123:When I walked into the small lobby I was instantly greeted. I was able to interact with my just while I checked in, which does nut halted to often in my experience most staff at hotels just look at a computer and don't talk to you. When I got to my room on the second floor I was greeted with a fresh smelling room. It was a bit cool but I turned on the heat and it was fine. The hotel has an elevator but the stairs see just fine too you only go up about 15 off them.

Review 124:Disposable breakfast cups, plates and cutlery, common in USA and not a criticism of this one place only, but still a negative.

Review 125:Good location (short walk to city centre), very comfortable beds and friendly staff. Not a luxury hotel but very good value for money.

Review 126:elevator was filthy. free breakfast was VERY basic. All outdoor areas need some TLC.

Review 127:The beds! The charming (though worn) art deco furnishings. The responsiveness of staff.

Review 128:Desappointed by breakfast: was supposed to be continental but was not (no proteins) + no milk for the porridge Bathroom in poor state (missing painting, need fixing) Not nice to stay working/living in the room (few light, table not well located)

Review 129:Confortable beds Nice staff Free wifi connexion Breakfast included (but not continental!)

Review 130:The elevator is a little creepy.

Review 131:This is definitely a budget hotel compared to most of the other hotels downtown but for the price and location, and those tempurpedic beds, it's a great place to stay when everything else is sold out or too high.

Review 132:The room is ok, the bed is better than average. The best feature of the motel is it's location. If you're looking to visit places like The Temple and/or City Creek Center, it's only a 20m walk or you can take the local public transport for free.

Review 133:The bathroom was really dated and had paint peeling off the tiles in the shower, but it was clean and had great pressure.

Review 134:Our stay was great. We stayed to have a place for wardrobe changes at ComiCon. It was only a few short blocks walk to the Salt Palace. The room was clean and the beds were amazingly comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was comparable to other hotels we have stayed at. It was a great price for the money

Review 135:the room and facilities were good staff was friendly breakfast was good, breakfastroom a bit crowded in the morning the visits to Antelope Island and Cottonwood Canyon the rehearsel of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Review 136:room on small side, hated the bed(to soft), hurt the whole time trying to sleep, didn't care for the motor trying to be started next door at 10:30 pm, didn't like my whole bank account being on hold instead of the actual cost + 10%, couldn't use my credit card for anything else that i needed to get while at convention, checked out 3 days early because of this, no money available because of hold (803.00 on hold) had 73.00 dollars to get home on. very unhappy with them.

Review 137:liked my room somewhat, the breakfast had good choices, the night i checked out i really liked the desk agent that helped me check out(the agent who checked me in put my whole bank account on hold. without me not knowing it. makes for embarrassing times when you try to buy something. night agent fixed my bill/checked me out EARLY(3 days) got my room early to get good price, 6 days for 335.00 plus tax

Review 138:The Booking stated the Inn included a pool and Jacuzzi. Both were bone dry and it is one of the reasons we picked this property. We enjoyed the pool across this street at Little America with our friends. Also advertised was a fridge in our room, but we had to pay $10.00 a night extra. I feel Booking.com owes me a refund of at least $50.00 to cover this extra unexpected cost.

Review 139:The beds & pillows were awesome. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Review 140:The outside hallways looked like they are never cleaned. The hotel looked run down. Breakfast is very basic

Review 141:The location was good The beds were comfortable The room was clean
