Reviews for Greystone Inn
Review 1:The fake electric wall fireplace in my room was a beautiful, unexpected touch. The kingsized bed was amazingly comfortable and I enjoyed both the coffee and sound machines in my room. (Falling asleep to rainfall sounds was very pleasant...) I was also happy to find an allnight convenience store across the street when I arrived hungry. But the best part of my stay was the very sweet and wonderful general manager, Davidene!! She had preheated my room and left a light on for my arrival - again, a nice surprise for my stay. She was also extremely helpful with questions, maps, and even a personal problem I had while on my trip. And did I mention the FREE upgrade she gave me to a kingsized bed??? This was a great stay at a great price!! I will definitely be back!!
Review 2:Said there was a fireplace which there was but it didn't work.
Review 3:Courteous Staff. there was nothing outstanding about the room. It was reasonably clean and quiet.
Review 4:Was reluctant at first because of location and outside appearance. Seemed many unemployed or homeless people were in the area. Once inside room was redone and very quaint I would say European style. Comfortable. Friendly helpful front staff.
Review 5:The hotel is located in a less than desirable part of town with some less than savoury characters meandering about. No breakfast :(
Review 6:Rooms were nicely updated. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Review 7:Not a bad experience, but providing a small continental breakfast would be amazing. I would pay more at this hotel if it included morning meal of some sort. Nothing complicated, but it's less to worry about when I am with children.
Review 8:The accommodations were excellent for the money paid. Beautiful setting and fine furniture - rustic but elegant at the same time.
Review 9:Nothing.
Review 10:Very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Recommended a great place to eat. They even had a sound machine next to the bed so I fell asleep listening to a gentle rain! Fantastic showerhead. A little more than we usually pay but it was worth it.
Review 11:The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our room was very comfortable and spacious. We had not stayed here before, but would do so again next time we travel to Great Falls.
Review 12:Not bad, but room was next to a noisy parking lot. Management did put a white noise machine in the room which helped.
Review 13:Beautifully updated room. Great shower head! Very nice management. Downtown location close to amenities.
Review 14:Barney is a wonderful door greeter and security guard. The rooms are fun, clean, and cool. They were so helpful with directions. The coffee maker and little fireplace in our room was a nice touch. We felt safe and cozy. We'll be back for sure!
Review 15:My only complaint would be the hard towels. It felt like sandpaper.
Review 16:The room decor was certainly my favorite aspect. The restroom felt like a 5 star lodge and room was warm and inviting. Staff was extremely helpful and polite.
Review 17:I think we were in the ghetto... Lots of creepers wandering the streets at night. Fortunately nothing happened to our pickup and trailer but definitely made us feel uneasy...
Review 18:Front desk guy was great, funny and gave us good ideas on dinner.
Review 19:I liked the shower, it was great. The room was very clean and it was quite and the bed was very comfortable. Slept great the night we were there. I left my pillow and they called me to tell me and held it for me. Very nice people!
Review 20:Could not get into assigned room, I wa accused of breaking the key which I still had in my pocket unbroken. Tthe Manager did apologize and found us another room at no charge for the night, but it did not have any reading lights. As a GF native,I was really disappointed in the accommodations.
Review 21:Very friendly receptionist on front desk, helpful, knowledgable and seemed genuinely interested in us and our travels. Location was perfect for us as we had researched the Paris Gibson Square museum and an exhibit we wanted to see the next morning - just a short 7 block walk from hotel. It was close to a convenience store, had a fridge in the room, beds were comfy and generally we had a lovely nights rest.
Review 22:The coffee pot in the room was nice touch. Staff was helpful to keep us supplied with coffee. Little fire place made things feel very cozy and romantic.
Review 23:This is my second time and the room this time was different than the first time. Not your standard "they all look the same" motel room. They have made it unique. Very friendly
Review 24:This hotel is in a truly awful location. The rooms have been renovated and the outside will be at some point, but nothing the owners (who are lovely) can do will make this into a place you can walk around and enjoy. We were asked for spare change numerous time and even some aggressive panhandling by people who appeared drunk or high.
Review 25:I like the fact that someone is rehabbing and adding to urban renewal in the downtown core. It just was not far enough along for it to feel safe to leave our car in the parking lot or enjoy. The room redos are really nice, high quality, and I wish them luck.
Review 26:There was a fancy heater in the wall in the bathroom placed to closely to the toilet so you had to sit sideways. A couple of loose tiles in front of the soaker tub made it evident their poorly done remodel won't last long. Maybe they just haven't gotten to it in their remodel, but the hallways were dirty and carpet in need of replacement. In the ad I saw on the internet it read Greystone Inn B&B; however, there was no breakfast provided, nor could you even get into the lobby in the morning.
Review 27:The room looked nice and fairly recently remodeled. There was a new TV with cable and nice furnishings.
Review 28:Our room wasn't the cleanest... There were dust bunnies and the hardwood flooring looked like it hadn't been washed. There were dirty spots all over the floor. We also had some paint on our sheets and lampshade
Review 29:The staff was very knowledgeable and it really close to all things Downtown.
Review 30:Unfortunately, my room was close enough to the front desk that I could hear the check-in lady's conversations w/staff & also hear her dog barking. Could also hear the people in the room overhead until past midnight. Not well sound proofed. Some basic maintenance also lacking.
Review 31:Good location in downtown Great Falls
Review 32:Poor TV service. All gray is not a good exterior color for a motel. Lavatory was awkward for trying to shave.
Review 33:Excellent recommendation for where to eat.
Review 34:NOISY air conditioning. Unable to block light coming in window - it was bright ALL NIGHT. There was NO sign on office door at all. I drove around property twice looking for the office. Woman at the desk had Mace, and other self defense weapons next to her like she was ready for a battle. Ugh. Never again trust a high rating for an unknown hotel brand.
Review 35:Leaving the next morning.
Review 36:VERY dark room. Blinds could not be opened. Dreary check in area. Could not get on internet.
Review 37:some very modern amenities (i.e. shower) Manager helpful with getting tv fixed in timely manner.
Review 38:The place had the feeling of being a newly renovated sketchy place. The fresh paint didn't really cover that up. The sign even says "don't judge a book by its cover"
Review 39:Free wifi (but it was slow!)
Review 40:No food service at all. Room was in disrepair. Tub didn't drain well. Bathroom door doesn't close. Blinds wouldn't open.
Review 41:Davidean was very friendly.
Review 42:We got "upgraded" to the deluxe king suite, the rain shower head was great, but the tile around the tub was so poorly installed they were falling out. Our "house keeping" consisted of them making the bed, they didn't even put all the pillows back on which I could live without if they emptied the garbage or gave us clean towels. The room was so hot (and the weather was only so so) that we were forced to sleep with the loudest air conditioning unit I have ever heard. It woke us up several times and barely cooled off the room.
Review 43:The location was great. Close to all the touristy spots. Price was great per night, anything more than $70 is a rip off.
Review 44:No place near the bed to plug in my C-pap machine. I had to use a 16' extention cord from the bathroom sink vanity. Bathroom small, toliet very small, black "Gothic" interior. White brick walls gave a prison feeling!
Review 45:Price was lowest available at the time! The fact that nobody was at desk in the morning angered everybody standing in line to checkout. I was not the only one who was disappointed!!!
Review 46:We couldn't really open the blinds to get some natural light because it looked out upon a parking lot and had a view of a gas station. I didnt feel safe with opening the blinds, but it was a ground floor room so I guess that's what you get for a view sometimes.
Review 47:The front desk lady was very informative and helpful with the area and suggestions fornplqces to eat and drink.
Review 48:Maybe a little more noise from outside than we like.
Review 49:Although it was an older building it was upgraded and looked great. The rooms were upgraded and it had laminate flooring. No rugs, good job.
Review 50:The room was nice. The building seemed to amplify noise. It was hard to sleep. Didn't feel we knew where to connect to help if we needed it at night when office was closed. It would have been challenging to nap during the day with managers dog barking at everyone who entered.
Review 51:A barking dog greeted us when we came in the closest door to our room and proceeded to bark every time anyone else came into the Inn. We are dog lovers but poorly behaved ones are a huge annoyance.
Review 52:Room was fantastic
Review 53:This is not a complaint, just a comment: this particular room has rather small bathroom. Plenty of room for the things you need to do in a bathroom, but very large folks may feel hemmed in.
Review 54:I was very pleased with my stay. I read numerous reviews before booking my stay at The Greystone Inn. I am truly surprised at the negative comments, although several of those poor reviews were left by travelers who didn't even enter their room. Too bad for them! My beautiful king room with fireplace was clean, comfortable, and quiet (ground floor on a Tuesday night). There is a grocery store and a coffee shop less than two blocks away, and if you are looking for something stronger - there are several options. I went for a run at 6 am; I didn't find anything about the neighborhood intimidating. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I had a very pleasant stay and plan on becoming a repeat customer.
Review 55:It is in an unsavory neighborhood. The stairwell was filthy, the window and window frame in room were filthy and some of the renovations were not well done. The door lock was not substantial.
Review 56:The room was newly renovated & looked good on the web. It was in fact bright & furnishings were good.
Review 57:The blinds let in alot of light. And there was a bit of noise from the road. We travel with a small fan that we ran during the night which created white noise.
Review 58:The room was very clean and comfortable.the staff was friendly and helpful. Loved being downtown and walking to places to eat. The staff recommendation for restaurants was A+. We will stay here again in the future. And Barney is quite friendly.
Review 59:Davidene the Manager was professional and friendly. We didn't expect much, but the rooms for cute and clean. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and they definitely know how to provide top notch service. All the way down to the housekeeping staff, who had a smile for us every morning. Thank you for making our experience in Great Falls a special one.
Review 60:Checkout lady showed up at 8 am. We were ready to go earlier but worked out ok. Would probably not stay there again only because it is downtown and saw unsavory characters walking around. Did not feel safe. Bar is next door.
Review 61:Upgraded room to king, same price. Friendly staff. Room and bed was ok. Fake fireplace with heat. Pretty. Little dog on welcoming committee. Place to hang your hat for the night.
Review 62:Was trying to figure out how to pay so I called the hotel probably two dozen times and sat there for 5 minutes while it rang and rang. Upon checkout no one was to be found. Room had household draw blinds. Let a lot of light in from the bright outdoor light right outside my window.
Review 63:Bed was comfortable.
Review 64:The location is in a very busy but run down area of downtown Great Falls. We were awoken many times both nights by rowdy people from the bars right next door screaming and yelling at all hours of the night not to mention vehicles that think mainstreet is a drag strip. Upon leaving, the bill was left in an envelope at the door, I wanted to pay cash so went to the lobby to pay only to find the door to the lobby was locked and the lights were off (at 11am check out time) We left and came back an hour later still to find the doors locked and know one around. There was no note on the door with a contact number for anyone or anyone else around to help. I have since called the hotel and they said they were having mechanical issues and apologized, but I had American cash to pay for the hotel room which has now been charged to my credit card and with exchange has added almost $40 to the cost of the room. They offered to give me a better rate next time but there isn't going to be a next time. Bottom line, don't go here if you will be in Great Falls on a weekend and need a goodnight sleep, with all the noise from the people at the bar next door, you wont get one.
Review 65:Front desk staff were excellent and very helpful in giving directions and finding good places to eat. The place is nothing special from the outside but the room was nice although could use a little maintenance work.
Review 66:They went out of their way to make our stay awesome. Went for a friend's wedding and to spend a romantic weekend together and when we returned to our room we had a bottle of wine and our fireplace on. Loved everything about it. Will definitely stay there again if we go back to great falls
Review 67:The bathroom smelled of stale urine. The bathroom sink was very modern and Did not drain easily.
Review 68:i especially liked the decorations in the room. everything matched. very inviting. felt like being home complete with a fire place. we would definitely stay at greystone again on our travel. price was right and staff was extremely helpful.
Review 69:I didn't like the fact that there was no sound barrier between the hotel rooms. I could hear the people upstairs screaming and yelling all night. When someone was having a shower you could almost think that it was in your room. Wasn't impressed there!!
Review 70:The room was surprisingly nice. Wasn't sure what to expect when pulling up to the hotel or even walking into the lobby. The lady at the front desk looked like she just escaped from prison. But all and all it was what you get for what you pay.
Review 71:The outside of the hotel looks old and rundown. They will be remodeling soon.
Review 72:The rooms are recently remodeled and gorgeous. Rooms are large, stylist, and clean.
Review 73:No continental breakfast.
Review 74:The rooms were very nice with the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. Shower was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful with places to eat. Downtown looked a little rough but we felt safe with all the security cameras. I would definitely stay here again
Review 75:No pool or hot tub, although we knew that going in.
Review 76:The location allows for walking access to several great restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel is clean and comfortable.
Review 77:location not the greatest but we have stayed there twice
Review 78:rooms real nice clean have been updated they did a good job we will be back next year probably two more times
Review 79:The noise was unbearable so I got about an hour of sleep. Dog barking the next room. Dog barking outside. Blinds on window didn't close completely so the light right outside my window was a beacon (please add drapes). Ambulances racing by through the night. They have done the best they can but it's just an older building with thin walls. If you aren't a light sleeper, you won't have any problems.
Review 80:The rooms were comfortable amd the staff was very friendly. Location was great in terms of being downtown. You can't beat the room rates.I couldn't find the remote for the fireplace but it looked nice.
Review 81:A/C unit wasn't sealed in, so pretty loud street noise at times.
Review 82:Our room was clean, cozy & had wonderful updates. Loved the fireplaces & the shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Reasonable rates.
Review 83:Was 'upgraded' to a room that was very near the vending machines, one of which had a faulty compressor that kept us awake most of the night, even with ear plugs in. also NO REFRIGERATOR
Review 84:Price was OK
Review 85:Exterior of the hotel is rundown and not very inviting. Location wasn't the best as downtown, close to lots of bars and casinos, there was a lot of noise during the night.
Review 86:The rooms have been redone, very nice and clean. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Great value.
Review 87:After we checked in and were removing our bags from the vehicle we were approached by 2 men looking for money . They left when we declined them any money but still set us on edge. The street noise was what really annoyed us .The hotel is located on a very busy street with a casino /bar right next door . The 1st night the street noise level was not good what with loud car stereos blaring sirens people swearing and shouting into the wee morning hours . The 2nd evening was worse for noise when the bar closed down a group of the bar patrons decided to stand in the hotel parking lot and shout and talk. It was a good 20 min to half an hour before they were told to move on by someone from the front . Very annoying worst 2 nights sleep I've EVER had in a motel .All the street noise came in through the air conditioning units It was like having the window wide open , There was no window crank on our room window nor on the room window for the other lady traveling with us . Both coffee pots in the rooms were dirty both had used coffee "pods " left in the machines .
Review 88:The evening staff and morning front desk staff we very friendly . Coffee in the morning in the front office very much appreciated . Our rooms were nicely decorated and clean . The beds were comfortable .
Review 89:Central location, staff was great and knowledgeable for our requests! Clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable. breakfast nearby and fresh coffee in room and reception!
Review 90:For $65 / night hard to complain. Rooms were great, outside appearance was a little scary. The Bar next door had loud crowd each night about 2am. Door didn't lock on room automatically. Was a short drive from event areas of the cityJJ is staying in dorm with a kid from AZ who brought 24 pairs of basketball shoes to college with him. I think he met his "Sole Mate"
Review 91:It was close to an intersection so the street traffic could be heard along with people talking outside in the late evening.
Review 92:Very enviting first stepped into the room. Very comfortable bed. Even though it was an older hotel it was very clean. Liked the laminate floors rather then carpet that is holding who knows what in it
Review 93:The parking is a little limited up frount
Review 94:I really like the front desk host Barrny he a cute little dash hound that hangs out in the lobby Lol but seriously now the value is the best I have found in great falls the rooms are all newly renovated and really well done the staff are very helpful and pleasant and your right down town with lots of neat shops and restaurants and clubs I will stay there again for sure
Review 95:However, we stayed one night and everything was fine. But the next day, we invited our friend who was recently hospitalized to come over for a visit and a bandage change before traveling home. The manager met us in the lobby with a snarky voice. "Okay, I did you a favor and let four of you stay in one room, and we don't do that here but now there is a man pacing the parking lot with a 6 pack of beer looking for your room, and there will be none of that." First off, we reserved a double room for 4 people. Our traveling friends who are married, along with my partner and I of 10 years. One straight couple, and one gay couple. She looked at me and my better half and glared. So, we agreed we would meet up with our friend who was carrying gause bandages not beer so I could dress his wounds as I am a CNA. The only place we could find was a dirty bar next door as he couldn't walk well with a broken leg and several skin grafts. In as few words as she could, she clearly let us know how she felt of our presence and probably assumed we were going to have some kinky messy sex or something in our room. And if anyone of you who has been with someone for a decade or so knows, there isn't much of that going on at all. She treated us like children, and frankly, broke my heart to hear those hurtful words in her assinuating tone of voice. I didn't feel like a customer. I felt like a child being controlled by the wicked witch of the west, and it cost me $172.20 to be discriminated against. I have no plans of ever returning. I just hope she doesn't ruin anyone else's experience.
Review 96:The rooms were rooms nice and we have stayed there before. I like to support the Ma and Pa small businesses, and it looks like they were really trying. When the manager figured out we were a gay couple, she started accusing us of not only taking advantage of her, but for breaking their elevator which must have broken during the night. The building reaked of burned rubber, and she didn't even ask if we were alright. She literally pointed her finger at me with her other hand on her hip and asked me if it broke when we used it. We took the stairs so... no.
Review 97:Outside appearance is shabby. Ice was old and impossible to gather from freezer. Blinds in the room were old and several panels broken, allowing street light to flood room.
Review 98:Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 99:The noise of the street came through the air conditioning unit. A bar fridge would have made the room perfect.
Review 100:We loved the look of natural wood in the front office and elevator. As we opened the door to our room, we were pleased with the look of laminate floors, two fireplaces, one in the bathroom and the other in the room, the gorgeous sink and waterfall shower head, tastesfully decorated with wood accents throughout the room. We were very happy with our room and would recommend to anyone. From now on, when we'll go to Great Falls, that's where we'll be staying.
Review 101:Very loud - next to loud bars with loud and drunk patrons. Got woken up many times by people walking by and yelling from out front of the bar. Not enough parking available Partially updated rooms - some aspects of the room are newer but shower needed a lot of work and was dirty. Rooms needed to be a lot cleaner
Review 102:Good size room Comfortable bed Good security Very friendly staff - very helpful and friendly. Staff watches the many security cameras and investigates any potential issues and makes their presence known.
Review 103:Curtains so thin that they let all the light in from adjoining carpark and street lights. Noise from liquor and gambling hall next door, was very disturbing. Abusive language and possible fighting kept us awake. Shady part of town!
Review 104:Neat and clean
Review 105:It was a shame that the vertical blinds didnt block out the street light so the room was lit up at night :(
Review 106:Really great lady on reception who was helpful. Lovely room, super clean and comfy.
Review 107:The only draw back was a metal door to the adjoining room that needs painting or refinishing.
Review 108:The room had been newly redone and was beautiful. It was very comfortable with a nice size table and a small desk. The bed was comfortable and I had a very enjoyable stay.
Review 109:the minute we walked in we were told that what ever we needed all we had to do was ask.they are doing so upgrading and we got one of the rooms that had been completed. This room was what I can only say was out of the world not what you think you get for your money. We will be booking this again and not even going to look at another.
Review 110:No ice machine just a freezer full of ice. Old toilet placed in stairwell. Tiny rooms. Not a nice location, a shady part of Great Falls. Bird feathers throughout hallways. Smelled old and mouldy.
Review 111:Hotel appeared to be renovating rooms.
Review 112:Some of the people at a near by gas station were a bit interesting and made me cautious were I parked.
Review 113:The rooms were just like the pictures!!! They are remodeled clean and comfortable! The wall fireplace is a nice touch also. Staff was also very nice and with a noon check out how can you go wrong?
Review 114:The neighborhood seemed a little shady but were advised to get food and drink within walking distance a block away to a german pizza bar where the food was good and the staff there friendly as well. I felt safe walking there aside from the seemingly shadiness of the neighborhood.
Review 115:the room was beautiful with an extremely comfortable king bed- came in late from driving for 10 hrs and staff upgraded us to the king with no extra charge. The neighborhood very usual- the room very unusual-not your typical hotel. I loved the room and shower was awesome. I highly recommend this place!
Review 116:When I arrived at the hotel. The staff was having a meeting in the entryway. I over heard the manager telling the staff of customer complaints. After my experience of spending 2 nights here, I quickly realized that, that the complaints were the norm an not the exception. As it turns out, the location is although handy it is also very noisy all night, with people arguing etc on the street. My first night I was awakend at 2 am to the sound of a smoke detector. It was turned off after a few minutes. I tried to go back to sleep, but then I detected the smell of smoke. I opened my door to discover that the hallway was covered in a thick smoke. I then proceeded to to outside. At no time did the staff knock on my door to tell me to evacuate the building. At no time did the staff even make a comment about the thick smoke. It was like it never happened. I highly recommend that they get proper evacuation procedures in place. The following day I spent the day shopping only to return to my room door being left unlocked and slightly ajar. Inside I found 2 dirty coffee cups that I had used with some liquid inside. The following morning while getting dressed the cleaning staff attempted to enter my room without knocking.
Review 117:most of the lights in the room didn't work, no bin liner in the trash can, dust all over the TV area, not as clean as it could have been. Not worth the price I paid
Review 118:staff was great, very welcoming
Review 119:Not sure about the staff uniform, it looks more like something from a prison. But what does that really matter in a hotel.
Review 120:We had a recently updated room and although the decoration wasn't to our taste it was very nicely done. The bed was really comfy. Loved the flooring in the room it was great to not have horrible carpet! Great place to stop for one night on our way back to Canada.
Review 121:I didn't like the neighbourhood this hotel was in. Unfortunately they can't do anything about that. I didn't sleep well because of a big argument/fight outside the hotel and sirens all night long. The hotel does have security cameras so their parking lot/building is quite safe.
Review 122:I liked the rooms. They were very nice and clean. You definitely can't judge this place at first glance. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and suggested some great places to eat! And the little "guard" dog (tiny Weiner dog) was so cute.
Review 123:The problems with this hotel are the location and the plumbing. The location is in a questionable part of town. The noise from the crowd leaving the bar around the corner did not leave a favourable opinion. And the noise from everyone showering or using the bathroom facilities decreased our opinion as well.
Review 124:The renovated room was alright. It was obvious effort is being made to update the hotel.
Review 125:Walls were a bit thin...we can hear the people next door laughing and talking all night.
Review 126:The room was very cozy. We really liked the fireplace on the wall which made our stay very romantic! LOVED the sink! I am a pillow person so I really enjoyed that there were LOTS of pillows on the bed, which made our sleep very deep.
Review 127:The sink leaked onto the granite countertop and was so sluggish at draining. This is a common problem at hotels.
Review 128:The woman at the front desk was most pleasant.
Review 129:It's grey because of the stone colour and the "greyness" of the atmosphere in the building. Staff were efficient but not very friendly. Located in an area where there was noise from young people in the street late at night.
Review 130:Close to the Town centre. Easy to find. Close to paces to eat and especially to get breakfast.
Review 131:Could use some additional parking
Review 132:Room was clean and attractive, bed was extremely comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very obvious that the hotel staff went out of their way to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of their customers. A++++ hotel all the way! I would definitely stay there again.
Review 133:It was gross. So dirty looked like the sheets hadn't been washed in a while. The carpets were stained and falling part. The bed had springs jabbing into your back the whole night. We only slept there after we went out and bought our own blankets and pills.
