Reviews for Arizona Inn
Review 1:As a regular visitor to the Arizona Inn, i am always delighted with the welcome, the quality of the dining room, the tradition of afternoon tea, and the ambience.
Review 2:One of the best vacations we have had. We were in Tucson to spend Thanksgiving with our children and grandchildren. The Arizona Inn is superb. A combination of old world charm and dignity with every modern convenience. The level of service was beyond wonderful. We and our brood of children and four young grandchildren had dinner in the Patio Restaurant four nights in a row. The food was top class and something for everyone. Beautiful gardens, pool, tennis court, friendly staff, a proprietor from heaven. Perfect.
Review 3:Food was average and overpriced for what it was. No drinks vending machines.
Review 4:Excellent grounds with well kept gardens. Friendly staff. Spacious room. Free afternoon tea was welcome.
Review 5:Only disappointment was that I stayed a few planned nights and was happy with the price I paid, my trip unexpectedly was extended so I booked an extra night and paid for an upgrade which I was happy with and enjoyed my stay was then unexpectedly extended again by a day so I stayed again but was then charged DOUBLE for the same room! Like I said disappointing considering my loyalty and custom.
Review 6:The Inn was beautiful and the way it is set out immediately escapes the feel of a hotel to replace it with a home. All Staff from reception to gardeners were welcoming and friendly. Gardens beautifully maintained.
Review 7:Shops, cafes, and resturants are not walking distance. Rooms have no cutlery or microwave despite huge size. Nice food at resturant but too pricey. Nice place but not cost effective.
Review 8:clean, comfortable, and close to uni campus
Review 9:Housekeeping was incredibly slow. Room not made up before 4 pm most days. On checkout day they were knocking on the door early in the morning.
Review 10:Beautiful oasis close to the university.
Review 11:The location is a problem after dark, as there is no lighting or even walkway, from the main road to the hotel itself. It would have been helpful for the hotel to have advised residents of insect bites in the area at that time of year, for which a resident would take preventative action.
Review 12:Nice quaint, and comfortable hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 13:I was a bit put off by the personnel at the Inn. We felt them to be aloof and impersonal, leaving you with the feeling that you were intruding upon them. I am not used to this type of behavior with an upscale hotel. Also at one point a table right outside my room was filled with someones dirty glasses, vases and garbage for two days. When I complained it was only partially removed. Other that that it was clean and well run.
Review 14:The Arizona Inn is a beautiful inn with an intriguing history. You definitely feel you are in another place and time. The Inn is filled with beautiful antiques and has an old world charm. The restaurant is lovely with very good food and service. As I had only a light late supper there I cannot say more than that. The room was very clean with lovely crisp sheets and towels, just as I like them, and a very comfy bed. I would certainly recommend it.
Review 15:A bit surprised at the entrance. There is no one at the door to welcome you or help with luggage. We were parked outside with bellman at the door but no one came to the car. It is not clear that parking is across the street when you first drive up. This lack of attention to detail is surprising given how nice the hotel is.
Review 16:Quality for the most part. Bathrooms have porcelain fixtures, King bed with wooden fixtures. WSJ and NYTimes delivered to your room. Did not eat there but dining facilities looked very "appetizing".
Review 17:Stayed in the Breasted house. Needs to be renovated. Bathrooms need to be updated. Plumbing is old and not very functional. Kitchen needs new appliances. Food is expensive and not really that good.
Review 18:Grounds are terrific. People are nice but seem to be a sent at times.
Review 19:A few minor maintenance problems: a shower head that was broken and sprayed water; plastic glasses and other trash on the grounds and around the pool area that were never picked up.
Review 20:Lovely inn with beautiful landscaping and excellent service. Reasonably priced.
Review 21:The dinner entrees are too fussy and some just don't work.
Review 22:Room spacious and clean. The pool is very nice with great staff and cocktails. Love the history of the place and very central Tucson.
Review 23:More than a hotel, a piece of living American heritage. We feel privileged to have stayed there and to have experienced the intense beauty of the place.
Review 24:We very much enjoyed the outdoor games of ping pong, croquet, badminton, and the pool. There was also full poolside service of food and drinks which was very nice. The library, restaurant and grounds were beautiful. The staff members were very polite and helpful. Great place to stay!
Review 25:Food was a little high priced
Review 26:2nd stay , I absolutely love this place will stay here when I return. Wonderful staff, wonderful property/rooms, wonderful price for the amenities, wonderful pool , need I say more.
Review 27:The food in the restaurant is mediocre.
Review 28:Beautiful grounds. Quiet. Great coffee in library and ice cream by the pool. Loved the free bikes. Close to everything.
Review 29:Breakfast is expensive and uninspiring
Review 30:The place belongs to another time, to a happy America now forgotten. You should come to tucson just to stay for a few days at the arizona inn. I believe my stay will be part of my most beautiful memories for quite some time...
Review 31:Only, minor blip was the pillows which we found hard. Admittedly, we did not ask for replacement pillows, as they would probably have obliged.
Review 32:Welcomed by two members of staff holding the doors open, checked in by signing the prepared arrival form, helped to the room with baggage, car was valet parked (free). Five star service at a 1930s level (including the furniture), with coffee in the library in the morning and ice cream at the pool in the evening, but the WiFi is 2015. Sound like we love this place?!
Review 33:Everything! A serendipitous stay. Chosen solely based on a tiny pictureon booking.com Web site, this very attractive facility offerseverything. We are so impressed that we plan a return visit for a moreextensive stay.
Review 34:Would be nice if shuttle service to U of A were provided as an amenity. Once per hour for example.
Review 35:Loved the setting, old world charm, staff friendliness and hospitality, poolside drink service.
Review 36:It was really hot in Tucson that weekend? Nothing to complain about regarding the Arizona Inn.
Review 37:From the driver who picked me up at the airport, to the bell boy, bartender, and front desk, an outstanding staff operates this lovely hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the beds are comfortable as well.
Review 38:We had a nice clean room and really enjoyed the pool and the ice cream sundaes. It was close to the University of Arizona where we went for Orientation.
Review 39:only thing was having to leave . Wanted to stay longer.
Review 40:it is a green oasis of calm and tranquility. A delight to stay there with a wonderful atmosphere.
Review 41:Had no complaints!
Review 42:The facility and grounds were just gorgeous! Free sunscreen at the pool & the free sundea bar at the pool were above our expectations. Also, making bikes available at no charge was fabulous!
Review 43:The staff were amazing so polite. Loved having free bike rental and they were so accomodating with water, locks, helmets etc. Zac was so nice and helpful! Enjoyed the Fitness Center too.
Review 44:Room was a bit musty when we arrived. Cleared out when we opened the doors and then ran the AC. Pool are service was inconsistent. One day excellent, next day we were ignored for several hours.
Review 45:Pool area was lovely; Pool was good. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was very accommodating.
Review 46:Wish we had more time to enjoy all the fun things to do at the hotel.
Review 47:Very cool historic hotel. Grounds were beautiful. Staff was great. Food was great.
Review 48:Friendly helpful staff. Spacious comfortable rooms. Quality furnishings. Beautiful grounds and hotel. Conveniently located. Always try to stay here if we're in town
Review 49:The place was very attractive. The building and grounds were classic Tucson. Much more appealing than the more modern and showy places in the foothills. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were very accomodating. I also apprecaiated that the room was quiet though I was near the bar patio I was never disturbed by loud talk or noise.
Review 50:Cable TV was on the fritz on and off the last two days.
Review 51:The food is exceptionally good. Their homemade orange marmalade is outstanding. Grounds are beautifully planted and manicured. Pianist Bob Linesch plays masterfully evenings in the piano bar.
Review 52:As an older property there are small details that, as expected, are aging. It wasn't off-putting, it just wasn't all brand new.
Review 53:The staff was amazing and the grounds were beautiful. The room was nice and the place was very quiet. You won't find a nicer place in the area.
Review 54:We have been staying at the Arizona Inn whenever we are in Tucson over the last 40 years. We like everything about the place, from service to food to rooms.
Review 55:only one thing - it was difficult to get the air conditioning right and it left us feeling 'bunged up' with stuffy noses in the mornings.
Review 56:The hotel was a little bit of luxury at not too luxurious price! The whole hotel had great character and history. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful especially when I had a problem with my luggage. They engaged in personable dialogue but were not intrusive. The bed was comfortable, clean and spacious
Review 57:While the mattress was comfortable, it was unfortunately the kind that transfers the movements of your bed partner to the other! We're both used to mattresses on which one person can move, and the other person doesn't feel it. The only other disappointment was the front desk personnel on Sunday. When presented with a problem, they just stared at a each other. Wake up, girls!
Review 58:Love the hacienda-like feeling. Great bar, lovely restaurant and wonderful library with a fireplace. Great place to unwind and enjoy life! The room was so spacious and had its own private patio.
Review 59:We went in the off season. The weather was much colder than expected so we were not able to take advantage of outdoor dining, the pool (although heated), and cocktails by the pool. No fault of the establishment. We dined several times at the restaurant. The more expensive dinners were excellent, but the sandwiches and appetizers for less expensive alternatives were not as top notch.
Review 60:A lovely, peaceful get away. Our room was immaculate, comfortable with our own patio overlooking the pool. The small touches like chocolates and free bottled water everyday were very nice.
Review 61:Small ant problem in bathroom - staff apologized did not offer any kind of discount for this problem but offered 15 percent off after I asked to speak to manager
Review 62:Everything
Review 63:There was nothing not to like.
Review 64:We loved the peace and quiet and the feeling of being set back 50 years ago when people took the time to enjoy their lives.
Review 65:Noise of workers' carts, too much use of balsamic. Spraying of patio just before we wanted to have breakfast there.
Review 66:Service, beauty of grounds and surroundings, architecture, pool, ice cream by the pool, piano music.
Review 67:Wi-fi kept setting out. They tried to fix it, but it didn't help much. Not ok.
Review 68:This is one of our favorite hotels on the trip. Our room was beautiful and nice and we had our own private garden in front. Very good value for the money. Room 252 is highly recommended if you want privacy.
Review 69:The Arizona Inn is wonderful hotel. It has beautiful grounds and a superb pool area. It has a 1930s feel to it. The rooms we stayed in were superb and it has the biggest bed I have ever slept in. The staff were very accommodating and the I cannot fault the food either. I have no doubt that this is the best hotel in Tuscon.
Review 70:Leaving.
Review 71:Sure we got a special off season rate but this was without doubt the best hotel we stopped at during our four week road trip in the Southern States of the US.
Review 72:Wished we had a view of the grounds from our room or patio, otherwise perfect. Next time we'll ask for a room with a view.
Review 73:We loved everything about this hotel. The grounds are loaded with flower edged walkways, lush lawns and beautiful landscape design. Out room was a huge two room suite with filly tiled bath with marble vanity. Private large patio. Also the pool area with its free sundaes was a double treat.
Review 74:The hotel has a great location, close to the center of Tucson, and yet in a garden in a quiet residential neighborhood. Free Internet and complimentary valet parking were an appreciated extra. The pool area is comfortable, and includes an indoor sauna and large changing area with showers. The hotel staff was helpful and responsive to our every request.
Review 75:The loud party next door that carried on until 3:20 a.m. No complimentary continental breakfast.
Review 76:The beautiful grounds. The coffee in the library. The free ice cream sundaes. The location.. The parking.
Review 77:Nothing!
Review 78:The staff was amazing, Ted was so sweet and helpful getting me settled in after a long day of travel. The room was beautiful and spacious. The towels were great, the in room coffee and water. The bar staff was so helpful finding tea bags for me. the view, the grounds were incredible. The in room safe, fridge and desk as well as the business center in the lobby. I was there to work at the University and the bikes for use were a great surprise. I wish I had my whole family with me and intend to return for leisure!
Review 79:The worst thing about this hotel was that I had to give my room key back
Review 80:Home with room service - not the glitziest hotel but the best for quiet, relaxation, service and comfort
Review 81:No jacuzzi. That is the only bad thing.
Review 82:This place is awesome! It was much nicer than I expected. The pool is gorgeous and the poolside bar is a nice touch. Everyone that works here is so nice and they are very customer service oriented. We will definitely be stayin here every time we come to Tucson, which is every few months.
Review 83:My girlfriend and I loved the patio off our suite, the beautiful pool, tennis courts (and the rest of the grounds), and ice cream socials in the evening. We spent a perfect few days here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful escape in a great location. Close to downtown and within walking or riding distance of many beautiful spots. That was another plus- the complimentary bikes! We simply loved our time here, and are already looking to get back.
Review 84:During the Arizona summer rains, our roof sprang a leak.
Review 85:The staff at the AZ Inn moved us and our items to an immaculate room and covered the cost of one night's accommodation for the disruption. When we returned to the Inn about a week later, they gave us a free bottle of wine and a "thank you" for giving them another try. Also, loved, the live piano music and outdoor patio area.
Review 86:The A/C blew very hard and the room was either too cold or too hot during cycles. The curfew on ping pong was also too early. We tried to play at 8:45 PM after the temperature had cooled from 100 to 90 degrees and were told that it was closed.
Review 87:The character and beauty of the hotel. The staff is also very professional. This is a classical and timeless southwestern resort that has remained loyal to its roots. Many services and amenities are included in the price of the room which is refreshing in this day in age.
Review 88:time is not without traces but gives the charm which many resorts and hotel chains lack.
Review 89:great location, scenic ensemble of buildings and gardens, nice staff and peaceful ambiance with a lot of history.
Review 90:Carpeting needed cleaning in room
Review 91:Charming room, beautiful historic grounds, ice cream by pool at night, coffee in library in morning, quiet location yet very close to university, easy to self park car, helpful check in and bell boy service as had 2 nd floor room w no elevator, private patio to read delivered newspapers, refrig in room
Review 92:There were no negatives
Review 93:Large room, exceptional staff, beautiful surroundings, restaurant on site had great food and outstanding service. The piano bar for cocktails was so enjoyable and the library for morning coffee was a plus. The pool area was also beautiful. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Review 94:Everything on your evaluation list. These people know gracious, quality service. We have stayed with them off and on, for more than twenty-five years and have never been disappointed.
Review 95:That we had to leave LOL
Review 96:Was a breath of fresh air Staff and facilities were excellent. Setting was unique and grounds were marvelously cared for. Who else would sweep up leaves and grass with a broom rather than with a vacuum cleaner because it would disturb the guests. Service and food was excellent also. Loved the Gelato at the pool in the afternoon and the willingness to please with my food fussiness. Altogether the best hotel experience on our 3 month trip through Canada and USA. Most others were newer but none were better.
Review 97:We could only stay two nights, would like to stay a minimum of a week!
