Reviews for South Coast Winery Resort & Spa

Review 1:The heater was noisy and the thermostat on the wall was not connected

Review 2:The Layout of the villas ,access to the winery and the restaurant is very good

Review 3:Carpet appeared dusty - we noticed the tiny debri on the carpet, was still lying there the following afternoon. May have been a slight oversight, as our room has always been very clean.

Review 4:Always enjoy feeling relaxed when staying at the villas

Review 5:We had a very nice stay- the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly! The winery was a good experience and lots of friendly staff and guests. The spa was very nice and the champagne that was served was delicious!

Review 6:It was great having staff in a golf cart take us to different venues at the property, instead of us having to take our car everywhere. Due to our age, we aren't able to walk long distances, so we loved that extra attention. Also liked location...location...locatioin.

Review 7:Minor up dates needed.

Review 8:I loved the fact that each room is separated for privacy. The rooms do need to be up dated a bit. The sinks faucets were lose and there is no vent in the shower area get steamy.

Review 9:Hotel and restaurant ambiance are pretty nice but the Grapeseed Spa facilities are quite wonderful -- worth a return visit. A small negative is the building entrances all face the surrounding roads. A few well placed signs and a couple of trellis arches along the pathways could have really celebrated the walkability of this lovely property.

Review 10:Relaxing time in a convenient setting. Friendly staff, excellent food, good wine, great massage therapists and did't have to leave the property. Celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in luxury

Review 11:Did not like that there was no lounge or restaurant open later in the evening on a Sunday night.not able to get snacks or drinks other than vending machine or room service. Would like pool to be open later. Arrived back from wedding St 0930.no real place to get together with other friends and families.

Review 12:Staff was exceptional., helpful and friendly. Breakfast wait staff was excellent. Able to check in a little early was wonderful prior to attending a wedding.

Review 13:The 2 mt. Side villas that I payed for were not cleaned for the 2 nights that we steed there...only towels were replaced..they never vacuumed both Vilas or wiped downed bathrooms each day called to guest services and they sent someone to vacume but still never vacume bathrooms and cleaned them...

Review 14:Villas that we stayed in were nice tucked away from the main hotel...

Review 15:I came for a business conference, and my partner accompanied me, however, he was lookin forward to using the fitness center, but it was closed due to renovation.

Review 16:we were treated with great care and loved the facility. also the restaurant exceeded our expectations. i booked our stay to celebrate my wife's retirement and her birthday (and our 35th anniversary) and i9t was a great stat.

Review 17:Room service food was cold. Asked for for a late check out...got it at the front desk, but room service didn't get the memo. Cleaning ladies walked in on my wife and myself going at it.

Review 18:The property was very beautiful and the rooms are amazing.

Review 19:More responsive hot water would have been nice and every facility everywhere - not just here - would benefit from hooks on which to hang used towels so they may dry and be reused.

Review 20:South Coast is a beautiful facility with an excellent dining room, wine tasting rooms, vineyards and salt water pool (as well as meeting and banquet rooms and a spa that we didn't use). The staff was exceptionally gracious, friendly and helpful, the food (and not surprisingly the wine) were excellent.

Review 21:The resort is very quiet and they offer to pick you up with a golf cart at your villa to take you to the restaurant on premise. And then once done with dinner pick you up and return you to your villa.

Review 22:Bed could have been more comfortable, some broken glass on our balcony & a step by the poor bar that was hard to see, we both fell.

Review 23:What a beautiful hotel & surroundings!

Review 24:The ceiling fan in the room did not work, As we checked in we were told water would be in the frig and there was none to be found, our room did not get cleaned until very late in the day sometime after 4 p.m. . We would not stay here again, we loved our stay a few years ago in the villas, but not these new rooms at all.

Review 25:The grounds are beautiful and staff is very friendly and restaurant is great.

Review 26:Hotel rooms and dining in separate buildings about 200 metres apart with no signs of which way to walk. Even when we got to the dining building it wasn't clear how to get in. We liked a walk, perhaps more people would walk if there was clear signage.

Review 27:Great service from staff in restaurant and wine tasting.

Review 28:The service at the restaurant was poor, food was good though.

Review 29:The facility is beautiful and the villas are worth the extra money. The pool is extremely clean and the grounds are pristine.

Review 30:The gym setup is poor. Hidden in a basement, it was not appealing. I would have preferred a windowed gym looking over the grapes and mountains.

Review 31:Located in the center of a vineyard, it has a feeling of remoteness. Very romantic.

Review 32:No mention of free WiFi at check-in or in room. It would have been convenient to have a 'what to do in Temecula' booklet in room.

Review 33:Most of the staff was exceptional. Free wine tasting was very nice and staff member working the room was exceptionally good.

Review 34:The wine tasting could be more generous. Not really inviting customers to potentially buy a bottle of wine.

Review 35:Nice and spacious rooms, comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Food at the restaurant is really good. Nice bonus the complementary tasting at the winery.

Review 36:When we arrived the restaurant was out of the product we wished to order. There was no hot water for jacuzzi. The toilet dispenser was hanging off the wall and there was a picture removed and never replaced however the hook left on wall.

Review 37:Room was big and bed comfortable.

Review 38:Didn't know or understand all they had to offer until close to checking out. Then we learned there was 3rd party companys that would pick us up of a wine tour and also a company that picks us up in a white horse drawn carriage for a ride through the vineyards.

Review 39:Beautiful, comfortable and very private. We had one of the villa's and it was very private

Review 40:I didn't get why the spa bar close at 4 when the spa itself is open till 10. And we didn't like the restaurant. Food and service were mediocre and absolutely not on line with the rest of resort.

Review 41:Suite was very nice, clean, and comfortable with an amazing view. Spa was excellent and above everything, their winery is one of the best of the area.

Review 42:Little bit of "funk" in the bathroom upon arrival, but overall the room was clean.

Review 43:The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was great. The grounds were very pleasant.

Review 44:No charm, no personality, completely unoriginal. A large scale and extremely dull resort for retired Americans who've never seen a truly genuine European vineyard. All they want at this place is for you to spend dollars in their gift shop. This place is a huge disappointment! Don't believe the high rating if you have any hopes for a unique experience.

Review 45:Bathroom was nice. Nice view from balcony. Great gym.

Review 46:Wine was average. The wine tasting as funny...we had to use the same glass for sparkling, white and red! Says it all

Review 47:Great area (vines, etc) and the evening meal was suprisingly sensational.

Review 48:I took my mother for the year anniversary of my fathers passing. They were married 64 years and 11 months. She felt like a queen being at south coast winery. All she wanted to do was sleep in what she felt was the most comfortable bed and setting was spectacular.

Review 49:Restaurant was very high end, food and service excellent but wish there was also a more casual choice for a quick meal.

Review 50:Wine tour was great. Fitness facilities, pool area and spa excellent.

Review 51:Our fireplace did not work, nor did the bath tub faucet, those would have made the stay the romantic get-a-way part more pleasurable.

Review 52:Julie at the front desk was very nice and flexible. The resauraunt was also good and the wine tasting room and folks were knowledgable.

Review 53:giant pillows about 8" thick are impossible to sleep on, very hard as well :0( finally, after midnite had to call desk to have them send over pillows could use for sleep. Hint of vomit in bed not sure if in linens, mattress, rug or all? Tall bedside lamps impossible to reach to turn off or on from bed. . .and certainly not enuf light to read by. Small white feathers (from a duster? pillow? wha?) found her and there in room. Why keep a fountain just outside the room on all nite? very annoying. Landscape was not cared for, trimmed or weeded. . .very unkempt. Outside patio was dirty (bird leavings) and also on chairs.. .keurig coffee maker took 4 tries to make it work, and then coffee tasted like dishrag. No hot water maker? Teas? No ice trays or convenient ice maker to villa rooms? Wha? Decor was dark with overhead metal pieces and outdated fake ivy planters which gave musty feel and how dusty were they wonder? and if earthquake tall wine bottle rack in upper eave, et al was ominous feeling, not room elegance/posh feel. Well stocked and appointed bathroom was appreciated, but no warning regarding "guests" getting notice/favor for dinner reservations there. . .all booked. Left early so could go eat any meals somewhere else. Most rooms in this price range would think would have microwave or access to complimentary breakfast nook for guests in this day and age as competition certainly does. Staff was cheerful and seemed well trained but did not tip for pillows delivery as felt room should have had sleeping pillows in the first place :0)

Review 54:leaving

Review 55:The one big unfortunate negative- is that when booking I wanted and expected the villa - but when I checked in - I was given a room in the hotel- which was nice but everyone told us to get the Villa- especially since we were getting married- The Villa would have better served our needs and desires.

Review 56:The fireplace was a nice warm cozy touch The bathroom was spacious and beautiful The location with the vineyard

Review 57:The resort rooms could use some updating. The bathroom is awkward and the tub/shower combo is very difficult to get in as a whole. The room is dark and could use more lighting. I was also under the impression each villa came with a complimentary bottle of wine, ours did not. I do think the villas need to be a little more updated for the price.

Review 58:The location is awesome, within the area of the surrounding winery's. The pool and spa are beautiful, pool was heated nicely for February. The room is a good size room, bed is comfy. Overall we had a very nice stay.

Review 59:There was an error with room service on my room. The restaurant took around 40 minutes for food, and a TV room service order did not get process due to closing time. Order was made prior to closing.

Review 60:Landscape, room layout, and tour

Review 61:The staff were so friendly and very hospitable. The resort was beautiful and i loved our room. We ate at the restaurant the sevice was perfect the waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious perfectly cooked. We would love to come back .

Review 62:Service at winery is bad. feels like a mass production / tourist destination (like V.Sattui in Napa). Rooms felt a little like Holiday Inn quality.

Review 63:Everyone in Temecula is super friendly. Hotel personnel provided great service. Hot tub, heated pool, gardens, common areas were beautiful

Review 64:The lady at the winery when we went for tasting seemed bored and wasnt a very good sales person so we left after our 4 samples. The water pressure in the shower was pretty low and the room service hours could be later. Seems like the whole town shuts down by 9pm.

Review 65:The suites are very nice and roomy. Love that they are detached and you can park close so its easy to carry luggage in. Comfortable bed, large bathroom with walk in shower and tub.

Review 66:A little pricey Restaurant in far build and not easy to find. no interaction or hard to get info from wine tasting staff.

Review 67:Central Location Friendly staff Good food at Restaurant

Review 68:I think guests should be able to use the steamroom and jacuzzi at the spa. Hot water did not work well in shower.

Review 69:The tower rooms were very nice, comfortable, and modern looking. Also it was very quiet. Restaurant was excellent! We really enjoyed our stay.

Review 70:No more wine bottle in your room upon arrival. A coupon book with a little gratis wine tasting is provided instead. Miss our welcome wine.

Review 71:The room, view, and delicious wines. The employees were very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 72:This was the first time we stayed in the hotel suites versus the villas. The bed was as hard as a rock and my husband and I could not sleep on them. Our bodies were sore for the entire next day. The room temperature was hard to control so we were either stifling hot or cold. The shower had poor water pressure. Room overall was very odd.

Review 73:Aesthetically it's a beautiful place, however the comfort was subpar.

Review 74:heater was not working the bathtub had no Jacuzzi function in the tower room front desk service misleading walking distance between buildings no covered pool

Review 75:luxuries accommodations - I suggest booking villas good breakfast prices and restaurant staff members (ex: Julio)

Review 76:Hot water didn't work very well, coffee machine was unreliable, spa closed at 6pm, and no apts available for spa services

Review 77:Service, tasting room, restaraunt

Review 78:I loved the comfort, quiet and peaceful surroundings. Service and staff were excellent! The spa services were so relaxing I didn't want to leave. The accommodations are the best I've had.

Review 79:The property is clean, gorgeous, and very well maintained. The suite was spacious and cozy with an electric fireplace, comfortable bed, pull out couch, large jacuzzi tub, additional shower, and a walk in closet. The hotel and villas are equipped with Keurig machines and actual coffee mugs instead of paper or styrofoam products. There were many features which made us feel very at home. Upon arrival, the hotel provided a passport booklet with discounts to the gift shop and restaurant. The booklet also included a complimentary prelude wine tasting which included sips of three delicious wines. There was also a horse drawn carriage available for approximately $45-$50. It's a romantic setting. I enjoyed the weekend and can't wait to come back! I hope you enjoy it too!

Review 80:Came in winter so no grapes on vines and hot air ballons in the air.

Review 81:The hotel and restaurant were classy. The bathrooms were upscale. Nice to have fireplace during cold night. Wish there were grapes on the vines but will be back in the spring.

Review 82:The shower head was low on the wall, and I wish it would've had more pressure (or maybe two shower heads like 'heavenly' showers).

Review 83:The room was large, well-appointed, and very clean. The jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus.

Review 84:No wine any more in the Villa to enjoy The Villa has no updates. Sofa a wreck. Restaurant hosts poor

Review 85:We have stayed at SC for the last 3 holiday seasons Holiday lighting nice Restaurant wait staff excellent.

Review 86:The afternoon front desk staff was not very friendly and seemed put out when we asked for assistance. That was a turnoff given the level of the facility. We were scheduled for a wine tour at the vineyard, so we asked for an extended check out. We were met with a staff that was absolutley not accommodating, which we found offensive after paying a $1000 all told, to spend a day and a half there. To make matters worse, we ordered room service breakfast on Sunday to relax before traveling, which turned out to be a nightmare. We were told it would take 45 minutes, it ended up taking well over an hour, actually causing us to have to cancel our wine tour of the facility. When the breakfast did arrive, it was ice cold, which was unappetizing and completely unacceptable. Between the impolite desk staff during the day, and then the service snafu, it made for a disappointing end to an otherwise perfect weekend.

Review 87:The room was beautiful and well accommodated. The first day our breakfast was wonderful and the staff was quick and polite. Dinner on Saturday evening was delicious and our waiter was very personable and pleasant The evening desk staff was very helpful and friendly

Review 88:Staff at the front desk weren't particularly well informed; had trouble finding the reservation and weren't familiar with earlier conversations I had had with the hotel. Cost on check out was a surprise. Charges I didn't expect, especially the steep rise in room rates for Friday and Saturday. Doors on room were very heavy and it was impossible to close them quietly which meant hearing every one of the guests who checked in later than we did.

Review 89:Great location, beautiful facilities.

Review 90:Uncomfortable beds & sofa bed. Very noisy, many selfish young guests obviously haven't a clue & their parents never taught them how to act in public - It's not all about you. Couldn't park in front of my villa because of clueless visitors. Bathroom floor needed to be thoroughly cleaned, stains on walls... Hotel needs to stay on top of the details.

Review 91:Location

Review 92:We were only there for a short stay mid week and the Spa could not accommodate us. We were bombarded with into about the Spa but couldn't book a service with them. One of the staff there was very unhelpful.

Review 93:Beautiful winery with top notch accommodations and excellent wine.

Review 94:Mistakenly went into wine club shop (lost). Girl was not nice at all and took our coupon for wine taste but didn't tell us where to go instead. After finding correct place to wine taste, we signed up for membership and were told it applied to our current stay for discount. At check out we found out it only applies to future stays. I will be canceling my membership after required 2 shipments are met. We will stay somewhere else next trip.

Review 95:Very helpful at wine tasting bar. Good service

Review 96:The food, expensive, dry, tasteless and small portions. The restaurant really let us down. Everything else was so excellent that it was perhaps magnified how blah, small & very expensive the food was

Review 97:We thought everything was excellent & were so disappointed by the food. We had fun @ the wine tastings & then sat on the lively verandah for dinner but the food was not good & the portions small for the price. Our waitress told others about specials but not us, we heard others ordering specials after we had ordered.

Review 98:Beautiful rooms with jacuzzi tub, private patio in vineyard, and a fireplace; attentative, curtious staff; great restaurant and wine tasting room on site too! I felt so spoiled!! I didn't even want to leave the Villa, but they have an elegant heated pool and jacuzzi where i felt every worry fly away!! Room service for breakfast on the patio of our villa was complimented by hot air balloons taking flight as we ate! I felt like, and was treated like, a Queen! I would definitely recommend a South Coast Winery Resort stay to anyone!!

Review 99:The staff was very nice especially jennifer from the tasting bar. The pool area is intimate and quiet with a decent amount of shade. The balcony's look out into patches of vineyards and the food from their restaurant was excellent you do get what you pay for. But you definitely pay.

Review 100:Stayed while attending a wedding. Villas were very nice. First class service and accommodations. #1 rated winery in CA multiple times. Would highly recommend it for place to stay in southern CA wine country.

Review 101:The resort was far from full, so it would have been nice to get a little bit better deal on the price. Also, it's understandable that the hotel would not want large dogs, but I wish I could have brought my two small dogs with me.

Review 102:We liked everything about this place. Everything was wonderful - the accommodations, staff, wine, and food were all exactly what we expected. It's a little pricey, but we got our money's worth.

Review 103:There were no drawers underneath the sink in the bathroom to put away our things so the counter space was cluttered. The side window entrance from the parking lot was very hard to get in with the room key. The door would not open after several attempts.

Review 104:Staff was very professional and the room was clean and looked amazing. Wish I could have stayed there a few more nights.

Review 105:The pool had a building with a couple of guys attending but would have been nice to have been offered a menu for foods or drinks around the pool.

Review 106:Kayla at the reception desk started our stay with such a warm welcome. The entire staff was very, very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was top notch as well and the Villa was perfect. Enjoyed an afternoon at the pool which was beautiful.

Review 107:The heating and Air conditioning didn't reach the bathroom.

Review 108:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent.

Review 115:Room so noisy because frigobar

Review 116:Environment,building,vineyards

Review 117:Everything was fantastic.

Review 118:Very relaxing. The whole place is catered to have a chill time unwind and drink wine heavily :)

Review 119:Everything was simply amazing!!! From the views to the wine tastings, we loved it all!

Review 121:nothing. everything was great

Review 125:Nothing bad to report

Review 126:Staff and friendliness

Review 129:Everything the accommodations were fantastic and the staff was friendly and very helpful
