Reviews for Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

Review 1:Had to take two elevators to get to our rooms. Renovations were going on, very dusty and there was a pervasive paint smell. Prospective guests should be notified as such, so they may rebook for another time should someone with allergies like me want to do so to avoid the premises during renovations.

Review 2:Concierge and front desk were very helpful

Review 3:My only complaint was that the hotel was under major construction which took away from the beauty of the premises.

Review 4:I liked the location and would have loved to walk the grounds, but the construction plus being in the middle of winter stopped that. The staff was very good and very helpful. The room was also very good.

Review 5:We stayed at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort for New Year's and had a terrific time! Our room was recently remodeled and very comfortable. The huge soaking tub and spacious balcony are pluses! The staff was friendly and welcoming and remembered us from day to day. Special kudos to George in the Canyon Cafe who took excellent care of us each morning (and NYE!). Camilla and Brenda in the lounge were also exceptional. Also, the golf course staff was fantastic. We will be back....soon!

Review 6:Did not have the room we reserved, king bed. Offered a room with a Murphy bed! Had to ask if they had a room with 2 queens! This was a new Year eve stay and staffing was short, although the staff tired hard and was pleasant under a lot of demand and stress!

Review 7:They couldn't get me check in. Was suppose to have a king but got double queen. A hour into the room half the power went out to the room. And then another guest harassed me at the restaurant

Review 8:The manager at the flying v restaurant because he took care of a situation we had with another guest

Review 9:Free upgrade! Excellent rate compared to other A+ options in Tucson. (ie Hacienda Del Sol, Ritz at Dove Mountain, La Paloma). The staff is great. Room service rocks. The rooms are newly upgraded and all have views. Its truly the best deal in town for the money. I think I paid $130 a night for a mountain view, newly upgraded room that has a huge bath tub! Loved it. Would stay again in 2 seconds.

Review 10:Staff was really committed to service, friendly and thoughtful. Property was super clean despite rehab in process. Great pool, spa, food AND DOG FRIENDLY!

Review 11:Just a little surprised that restaurant variety seemed a bit limited.

Review 12:Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Location was close enough to Tucson but also close to open country.

Review 13:There is no refrigerator in the room and coffee selection.

Review 14:I was quite surprised with the waterfall. it was a nice surprise while I was out for morning walk. The scenery is beautiful.

Review 15:A little bit of cosmetic fixing needed in bathroom. Touch up looked a little rough.

Review 16:Location was just beautiful. Great for a quick escape from everyday hustle and bustle.

Review 17:The staff were extremely helpful, Jeff, the gentleman at the valet desk was a true star!!! I proposed to my Girlfriend and he took pictures and also informed the front desk who sent champagne to my room and upgraded me to a beautiful suite!!! Excellent staff!!!!

Review 18:We booked a suite off season and expected a nice room the one we received upon the checking in was tiny and sort of dumpy I complained about the room they were hesitant to help me I offered to pay more for a real suite they finally found us a room that was somewhat more acceptable note the hotel was at less than 50 percent occupancy and we were paying premium rates the suite we stayed in seemed to be missing allot of it's furnishings

Review 19:Beautiful property older hotel could use a facelift kinda dated

Review 20:When booked, booked two rooms as we were traveling as a family. Asked for early check in no only did we not get that but at 330 therewas oonly one room ready with 2nd room not ready till after 5 pm and room was on the opposite side of the resort. So much for a family booked together

Review 21:Beautiful resort , great rooms , wonderful food

Review 22:The only things that were not so good is it was a serious walk to the room.and I was getting lost. The maid was not nice at all. She was banging on my door early in the morning and so I let her in. She didn't refill any of my coffee stuff or glasses and she wouldn't give me extra towels. The next day she didn't come at all and there was food in the room all day. We had to ask for towels and stuff The last morning when I woke up and I was going home.my finger was swollen so badly I couldn't bend it. I had been bitten by a black widow I found out later. Az

Review 23:Wow we loved everything! I couldn't believe the size of the bathtub! 7 or 8 people could have sat in there. I had it all to myself. The bed was so comfortable and with the exception of a few things it was a great time

Review 24:Most important thing for the breakfast is coffee and it was bad here. Also no salad option for the breakfast. Missed more options for helthy breakfast ( I am not eating eggs and bacon ).

Review 25:location was very good, room was clean, good Wifi, friendly staff.

Review 26:To get back and forth from the room, you had to enter from either of the far ends of the hotel becaus there wasn't access to the fourth floor like the first three floors. Redickuless design and poor signage to navigate throughout the hotel. Even the numbers on the outside of the elevators had 2 different floor numbers.

Review 27:Location of hotel was good..

Review 28:Bills Grill was not very good. Skylar did not have a sense of urgency. He only had 6 tables and could barely keep up. We watched our food sit in the window for 7 minutes while he walked by the plates twice. With those little bugs flying around everywhere, thus really turned me off.

Review 29:We enjoyed the views and the vegetation.

Review 30:The staff members are very pleasant and helpful. The whole NWCPA event was handled with the utmost class and integrity. I would recommend this resort to any of my collegues as a relaxing stay or place to conduct business meetings. It is a beautiful setting nestled in the Arizona mountains. Very pleased with the overall experience.

Review 31:Getting everyone checked in after making the 9 reservation through Booking.com was a pain. The two systems do not work well together when making multiple reservations at the same time. Took a long time and a lot of patience to get checked in.

Review 32:Overall the place is very nice and Ilana did a great job accommodating our business meeting needs.

Review 33:Really Busy the weekend wee were there, staff was showing signs of stress. We were near Elevator, a little loud

Review 34:Area around Hotel is gorgeous, It was like being in a Post Card

Review 35:The room, which the clerk at check-in said would be an upgrade, had a partially obstructed view (roof and structural columns), and the other part of the view was of the main access road. Of the hundreds of rooms at Loews Ventana Canyon, this had to have been one of the least desireable rooms. At checkout, the clerk said this was attributable to having booked through Booking.com and that I should book direct next time. This has happened to me before at other resorts and hotels. On the second day of our stay, the room was not made up until 7:00 pm, and only because we called about it at 5:00 pm. Note also, that there is a $25 daily fee for the Wi-Fi, fitness center, parking, and shuttle. Of all the furniture in the room, I'm not sure that any two pieces were from the same manufacturer. Generally, in my opinion, the room and the service did not come anywhere close to the value one would expect to receive based on the price of the room, including extra fees. Meals and drinks at the on-site restaurants and bars are quite expensive. Many people staying here appeared to be part of various corporate groups. The clerk at checkout said the entire facility is going to undergo a complete upgrade this next year.

Review 36:The grounds are certainly nice, including the walking paths and landscaping.

Review 37:Rooms had little privacy, in the mornings the grounds crew used very loud air compressors to clean the walkways when a broom would have sufficed.

Review 38:Beautiful views great location for hiking.

Review 39:We arrived after dark and the signage to get to the front desk was poor. Also very little lighting in parking lot. Then there was a 10-15 min walk to the room when we had to ask for directions twice.

Review 40:Nice location, comfortable bed, clean hotel

Review 41:The room was clean, but it was outdated, simply not the level of quality/luxury one would expect at the nightly room rate. There was no mini-fridge, a rather unpleasant view of the parking lot and loud maid service that echoed through the thin walls early in the morning (New Year's day). We could hear the water come on noisily on what seemed like every room around us with an terrible whine. For the price, I'd much prefer Starr Pass.

Review 42:Staff was wonderful.

Review 43:For a hotel billed a resort hotel, leisure facilities were limited and subject to extra charges, with restricted opening hours. As we were busy sight-seeing during the day, coming back and wanting to make use of spa facilities and simply relax into the evening wasn't possible.

Review 44:Convenient location for our needs with stunning views over Tuscon. Comfortable room

Review 45:Finding a dirty Q-tip with black hair twisted around it in the basket containing the blow dryer. Very noisy in the room when luggage was being rolled on the tile floor in the corridor.

Review 46:Unique architecture and setting.

Review 47:Wifi was a pain to log into. There were no USB ports in the room. The docking station was out of date.

Review 48:The staff was top notch. Food was incredible. Location is perfect.

Review 49:The resort fee since I only went to yoga one of the four days we were there and parking was easily accessible so we didn't use the valet either.

Review 50:High end facility with comfy bed, huge bathroom and amazing views

Review 51:My grown son and I had 2 rooms and neither of our rooms had a view which we were hoping to have.

Review 52:I liked being close to the mountain and the nice walking trails. The service and food at breakfast were excellent.

Review 53:Food and drinks are over-priced. During happy hour in the Flying V we were actually charged more than the advertised regular price.

Review 54:Beautiful setting that even incorporates a natural waterfall, great educational nature walk outside the property, extremely close to a lovely public hiking trail. Wonderful service staff, super clean, great beds.

Review 55:The resort was 'tired" and in need of renovations. The spa was understaffed and lacking basic grooming items. Not what you'd expect from a Loews property.

Review 56:Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Review 57:The only things I didn't like about the resort was the limited dining options, the Wi-fi we were pre-charged for didn't work, and although it wasn't the fought of the resort itself, my husband was mistaken for an employee numerous times during our stay even though he was well dressed, sporting a huge beard, and jewelry. Not exactly the look of someone in the service industry, but there was really a lack of diversity and after the third time he was pretty offended.

Review 58:I loved the outdoorsy feel of the resort. The mountain view from the balcony of our room was beautiful. And most of the staff was really pleasant and helpful. Claire from the front desk even sent us a complimentary amenity of guacamole, salsa, chips, and margaritas!

Review 59:Free weak wifi for browsing but $12.95 for wifi if you want to stream movies, etc. The refrigerator in the room is set to a warmer temperature so you can only store drinks in there. There is a note inside saying it is not safe for perishables.

Review 60:Lovely bed, huge bathtub, gorgeous view, beautiful grounds, loved the walk up to the waterfall. Easy access to Ventana Canyon Trail.

Review 61:Rooms were great and the grounds were beautiful. Lots if cool hiking trails on site. Really enjoyed the mountain views and the waterfall right outside . Rooms were tastefully done, very clean and upscale. This hotel was awesome.

Review 62:The food is expensive and alternative dining is always a good drive away and usually in strip malls. Rooms are a bit run down and amenities nothing special. Needs a boost but is well worth a visit. Additional resort fee is charged.

Review 63:The grounds are fantastic, and the resort pays homage to the ecology of the desert. The patios and views are terrific (choose mountain views) The spa and gym are great, the adult pool and jacuzzi are a nice alternative to the crowded and sometimes noisy main pool. Very comfortable beds. Staff are friendly. Flying V has excellent food. The waterfall is lovely and havalinas appear in the evenings.

Review 64:Very rare for me to not find fault but in this case it was just a smooth tranquil visit at a good price for the 3 day package. Way to go Loews!

Review 65:Staff excellent throughout. Donald at Front Desk made my check in after long drive smooth. Superb room service N.Y. steak perfectly cooked. Serenity pool and spa for quiet time. Gym well equipped. Grounds are beautifully maintained. Older building but well maintained. Nice paths for doggy walks. Quiet, clean room. Staff has pride.

Review 66:The sofa bed was awful and it was 2 miserable nights before it was resolved. They ended up putting another mattress on top of the old one. Also no additional comfortable was available for the pull out !

Review 67:Setting was gorgeous spa and v restaurant 5 star

Review 68:No fridge in room. No complimentary water, coffee etc. - water 8$ a bottle! 25$ daily resort charge - has to be paid even if you just spend the night there. Resort is too big. Huge parkings with permanent movement, even at night. If you plan to visit: avoid the rooms in the Western part - noisy machines running day and night.

Review 69:Friendliness of staff. Location. Comfort. Architecture.

Review 70:That I only had to stay one night!!! Wish it was longer!

Review 71:Nice patios with peaceful views of the desert. Seems like the staff go out of their way to make you feel confortable

Review 72:The resort fee. It's costly enough to stay there without the additional daily resort fee fee

Review 73:We stay here when we are in Tucson and are never disappointed. We arrived very early and they not only gave us a room several hours before check in but they also gave us an upgrade

Review 74:This is a premier hotel but even so the on site dining seemed over priced for standard luxury hotel fare. We wanted to experience the local culture so opted to eat out in restaurants in the area. Also $8 for bottled water from Fiji is just wrong on so many levels.

Review 75:Location, views, quality, silly big bath.

Review 76:truly horrid lighting in the rooms using non-dimmable bright-white fluorescents. no warmth whatsoever-- literally and figuratively like the rest of the hotel.

Review 77:great location

Review 78:Lack of restaurant/ dining options on property and near the property. The adult lap pool was small and due to its design not "hang out by the pool" friendly.

Review 79:Amazing blues, brews & bbq brunch. Very quite patio facing mountain, rooms closer to the pool won't feel as secluded. Nice hiking trails & nature paths

Review 80:Rudeness of Flying V restaurant staff - had dinner reservation and they closed the restaurant because I was running late rather than calling my room first. Bellmen and front desk people also can be somewhat rude.

Review 81:Main pool, lap pool, Cascades restaurant - good food. Very comfortable room, though television service sometimes did not work. Upgrade to better view from initial parking lot view. Beautiful hotel that I would recommend to friends and family for future visits.

Review 82:Original assigned room was of service area, work trailer, and dumpsters. Nothing like rooms expected from web site during booking

Review 83:Manager owned the challenge of keeping us as tisfied with room. He moved room to acceptable view room

Review 84:Excellent quality bed and linens, very clean. Large rooms. Excellent food. Friendly helpful staff. I am going back next week, that's how good it was.

Review 85:Room had blood stains on carpet and wall and stains all over the floor and it said fridge in room had to ask them bring one up

Review 86:Staff restaurant and location

Review 87:Surrounding construction and its noise starting 9am. Very disappointing

Review 88:Great facilities and room features, especially the bathtub!

Review 89:Every last staff person I encountered was fabulous!

Review 90:Our stay was to short.

Review 91:The beautiful views and the great golf course.

Review 92:Patio was noisy because of equipment; windows were level with cars in parking lot

Review 93:too long of a walk to your room and poor directions given at check in

Review 94:Beautiful Property

Review 95:Needs an interior renovation. The 1980's want its decor back.

Review 96:The prickly pear margaritas by the pool

Review 97:Nice location, clean and comfy. Got upgraded to a balcony room on arrival.

Review 98:very friedly staff, especially Cecilia from the coffee shop in the vista barista!

Review 99:No television. The service was out it should have been deducted from the bill.

Review 100:Great hiking and scenic adventure.

Review 101:Not enough supervision at the main pool.

Review 102:The views were beautiful and the food was very good.

Review 103:Had to wait a bit too long for check-in and check-out.

Review 104:Courteous staff, comfortable bed and facilities, and excellent location.

Review 105:The resort and surrounding grounds are beautiful. Both golf courses very nice

Review 106:Loved the area, Especially all the trails waterfall and plant life. Also appreciated that it was pet friendly. My two dogs enjoyed the stay also.

Review 107:Great Place, Great Service, Great Golfing

Review 108:Staff was wonderful - particular thanks to AJ at front desk for being both efficient and wonderfully friendly

Review 109:Fees were a bit high.

Review 110:The grounds and walking nature trails. Friendly Staff.

Review 111:The resort was understaffed. The phone at the front desk was not always answered. The buffet was mediocre.

Review 112:The location and the facilites.

Review 113:Too far from off-site places to eat.

Review 114:Quietness of room. Bed was great. Walking the grounds was nice.

Review 115:The bedroom had no window and you couldn't get fresh air at night. It was uncomfortably dark and stale.

Review 116:Walks desperately need a good scrubbing

Review 117:Relaxing

Review 118:air conditioner

Review 119:location and hotel

Review 120:Could not hike Ventana Canyon with our dog

Review 121:Great scenery, friendly staff, pet friendly

Review 122:We saw a mouse scurrying down the hallway

Review 123:DREARY, OLD AND NOT WELCOMING FURNISHINGS. HOTEL & SPA NEED A COMPLETE REDO TO VALIDATE THE HIGH RATINGS!

Review 124:STAFF, SPA TREATMENTS, QUALITY OF FOOD

Review 125:Extra resort fees, expensive restaurants. Rinky Dinky spa. no water without 8dollar charge.

Review 126:Large bathtubs.

Review 127:the hall way too and from our room was never vacuumed during our stay -- there was litter and dirt on the carpet and cobwebs in the hallway windows

Review 128:Everything either met or exceeded my expectations.

Review 129:Comfortable rooms and great facilities.
