Reviews for Ambassador Inn and Suites
Review 1:We never could find a switch to turn off the bathroom light but that was fine because we had to keep the door shut so we didn't hear the toilet that ran every few minutes. Walls were very thin and we heard everything in the halls all night long. And there was a strong perfumey/incense sort of smell in the hall--not completely repulsive but too strong and not really very pleasant (but it did cover up the smoke smell that was coming from the non-smoking rooms.)
Review 2:Pool was good though not as warm as we were told when we called. Location was good and the room was fine.
Review 3:Was initially booking another hotel in which my relatives were staying. The Ambassador was listed as being .6 of a mile away. It was 2 miles away. Not happy with being given false information. Not sure who is responsible but, not happy.
Review 4:Room was clean and comfortable
Review 5:Our first clerk when we arrived was not particularly friendly - no smile, just "Your room will be ready at 2:00." We arrived at 12:30 and had to hang around for an hour and a half just to check in. There were hardly ANY guests, so why did we have to wait?
Review 6:Great place, well kept. Quiet and comfortable, except for the beds - not so much.
Review 7:Just perfect for our trip. Clean and had all the necessities. Loved the continental breakfast area . Great to cut down on time at a restaurant and had good selection. Would come GI if in the area .
Review 8:The vent in the bathroom. (rm 116) is discussing. I would have told the clerk on checkout, but had a very hard time finding her. We'd possibly stay there again.
Review 9:A nice place to stay. Very centrally located.
Review 10:Horrible odor all over building. Room was depressing, it was clear that new wallpaper and vanity was just placed over old ones. Bugs flying around bathroom, water stains on walls and ceilings. Sheets were terribly itchy. Breakfast was a combination of stale or frozen choices. Before I went to sleep I booked another hotel down the road for the second night. Upon checkout the person at desk said the credit card machine was not working so they had to manually write down my number to process later which made me uncomfortable that my number will be just laying around.
Review 11:Only location
Review 12:Quite often there was no staff at the desk to ask questions. The breakfast buffet could be extended a little later at least 10 am
Review 13:The price and location were great. The pool and hot tub were clean as well as the rooms.
Review 14:The clothing rack above the couch should be located on the other side of the room next to the mirror. When hanging clothes on the rack it's impossible to sit on the couch for any reason.
Review 15:Needed some cosmetic work, painting, plastering, general maintenance. Pools were small but do-able. Continental breakfast nothing special but it worked.
Review 16:Handy to beach, restaurants, gift shops and eatery of all types including a bakery and several ice cream establishments.
Review 17:Having to climb outside wooden staircase to access bedroom with luggage ( no lift ) Poor communication i.e. from some reception staff.
Review 18:clean and comfortable but dated.
Review 19:very bad wifi fire safety drill at 5.30 AM is never nice and it rude if you don't get any kind of apology
Review 20:easy to park easy to reach good price great pool
Review 21:The bathroom in our room was just too small for comfort. In talking to other patrons the complaint was the same, in particular the room to clean yourself after using the commode. Commode too small and close to the floor and restrictions from partitions.
Review 22:The location to restaurants, beaches and local shops and stores.
Review 23:It was very humid in the hall ways as there was only ac units in the rooms. No one was at the desk when we were trying to checkout...we had to wait 15 minutes after ringing the bell and walking around. Guests shouldn't have to do that especially at peak times of check-in and out. Then I got an attitude from the woman because I wanted a reciept because there were 5 people behind me needing to checkout as well.
Review 24:Room, pool area and hotel were clean. Location was great-close to restaurants and stores.
Review 25:Disgusting... Dated, paper thin walls,Terrible house keeping, no closet, annoyingly loud AC unit, weird indoor pool . I left before my last night and checked in elsewhere.
Review 26:Location is pretty good
Review 27:great value for the money. liked having a room that looked renovated. Beautiful. excellent breakfast I think we finally found our place to go when we come down to the cape for our get away. Keep up the good work!
Review 28:Not a bad experience, but TV was bad. Local channels came in poorly, and the hotel didn't carry NESN, the Red Sox channel. Also, while it had a bathtub, we had to rig a plug so we could take a bath.
Review 29:Proximity to things we like to do, shop, restaurants, other Cape towns.
Review 30:The continental breakfast was not continental at all. A little pricey.
Review 31:Overall hotel is clean. The room is a little small but clean with decent beds to sleep.
Review 32:would be nice to have had two keys, although i didn't ask for one because i never went to the office till we left.
Review 33:It was very clean & seemed more updated compared to other places we have stayed at on the cape. Also close to beaches and family we were visiting. Quiet and nice would go back for sure.
Review 34:Room sucked. I asked for a king bed, which it had, and that's all it had. Some type of "murphy" bed in the wall and one small chair. No windows to the outside, no plugs available for laptop or phone charger. Old dilapidated room. Would not stay there again and would not recommend to anyone on business.
Review 35:Can do without the breakfast. Had to wait to use one toaster for the entire breakfast restaurant. There was nothing healthy available.
Review 36:Friendly and pleasant staff. Nice rooms and very comfortable. The value was great.
Review 37:Was able to get an early check in which was very helpful for a 4 P wedding. Carol was extremely helpful with this. Breakfast was very good with make your own waffles a pleasant treat
Review 38:I wasn't impressed with the lack of courtesy at the front desk from the moment we got there.
Review 39:The room was clean and well kept for us. Was nice having the complimentary breakfast included.
Review 40:Only one waffle maker at breakfast made for a long wait. Hot tub was overrun with kids well under 16 while sign said no one under age 16 and no one management said anything to them should have enforced it
Review 41:Great location. Nice to have both an outdoor and an indoor pool
Review 42:Dirty rooms, hot tub was dirty, staff was not welcoming. Toilet seat was broken, tub was dirty (stained). Heat light was broken,
Review 43:Location, pools were clean
Review 44:The beds were not very comfortable, but the rooms were clean and well kept
Review 45:Free breakfast was excellent, facility was clean and the staff was very nice.
Review 46:Room smelled like old smoking room could not breathe pool old and cracked landscaping done aka leave blower at in opportune times staff not so great
Review 47:Location
Review 48:The furniture in the room needed repair. The handle was off one of the bedside tables, the leg on the fabric-covered chair gave way, the arm rest on the leather desk chair gave way, and there was a portion of the wood border connected to the wall by the air conditioner just came right off the wall! Nails were protruding, so we stuck it back on there, but the room is in need of repair, as stated before.
Review 49:Location and aesthetics and curb appeal of property. I also liked the hot tub.
Review 50:Breakfast.. Ending up going our every morning big disappointment.:bayside breakfast way better..
Review 51:Breakfast was too basic.. Oranges every day.. Wifi?? Where ???never had connection.. Outlets didn't work.. Bathroom door wouldn't shut.. One and done!!
Review 52:The front desk staff did not seem very friendly and welcoming from the start. For the amount of money they charged, the room, facilities, and breakfast items offered were below average. I would definitely not recommend this hotel again. The bathrooms were extremely small with barely any room to move around. I wasn't expecting it to be a 4/5 star hotel, but I was extremely disappointed with the room and services offered for the amount of money they charged.
Review 53:The location
Review 54:This hotel was rated by booking.com as a decent hotel to stay at and it was a terrible experience. The hotel is outdated, dirty, and in overall very poor condition. We were overall, very unsatisfied.
Review 55:Staff very unhelpful with details of ferries to Martha's Vineyard - was given incorrect info Wifi only worked occasionally Hotel very smelly Beds uncomfortable
Review 56:The bathroom needs upgrading, especially the tub area (not that clean looking or inviting. Not crazy about the indoor pool view.
Review 57:Free wifi and the bed was comfortable.
Review 58:The breakfast buffet is basically all sweet. It would be good to have eggs, bacon offered as well. Indoor pool - too much chlorine.
Review 59:It was close enough to go to Provincetown each day.
Review 60:Could use a little updating of paint.
Review 61:Centrally located and convenient to many areas. I travel alone and safety and security is very important. I feel safe there!
Review 62:Poor wifi connection, bathroom very small , no closet in room . Pools and hot tub were decent, staff was polite and helpful. Location was good as it's close to restaurants and attractions. Good value but you get what you pay for.
Review 63:Some updating required. Overpowering flowery smell in the lobby. Housekeeper missed giving us coffee 2x and bottom of bath looked like it could use a good scrub . Outside furniture disgusting and dirty and not enough to satisfy # of guests
Review 64:Location is excellent. Close to beaches and restaurants. Shopping is so so. Room was fair size with a good air conditioner. Wifi was solid for us.
Review 65:Keys for doors did not work well. WiFi was limited ,could not open all Web sites. Mattresses were to firm, wore up with back pain.
Review 66:Everything was exelent, especially friendly staff. Both pools and wirlpool were clean. Rooms very clean. Breakfast was exelent with various food choise.
Review 67:Our room was damp and smelled musty. I suggest they look at the A/C filters and clean them or change them.
Review 68:All the common areas of the hotel were clean and the landscaping was beautiful and I liked the value-added features: continental breakfast, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, in-room fridge, safe (for 1.50 per day).
Review 69:We always look for hotels that include breakfast. The breakfast was okay not great just okay. Was expecting some yogurt but just cold cereal and waffles. Not exactly a filling meal without protein but as I say it is okay.
Review 70:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Makes all the difference.
Review 71:The exterior of the property needs work, especially the furniture outside the lobby. It was filthy and disgusting; also the table in the gazebo was filthy.
Review 72:The staff were all very amenable.
Review 73:The wi fi wasn't the greatest.
Review 74:I loved that it was located within a few miles of all the main atrractions and the beaches. The kids loved being able to swim indoors and outdoors. I would definitely stay here again!
Review 75:I rationalized that this hotel may just be a hidden gem for the cost, but in the end you get what you pay for. I would much rather pay more in the future than stay in a hotel of this type again. It is a bit run down overall, but a few things stood out. Cleaning is subpar- the sheets were stained and we slept on top of the duvet because we did not feel comfortable. There is an overwhelming smell of deodorizer throughout. ( not in a good way, but in a covering up bad smells poorly kind of way), and the toilet is smaller than standard size. I did not want my children to walk around the room, or shower without shoes on. I was honestly counting down to home every moment we were there. As a Mom on a budget, I will save and spend more to have a comfortable stay in a cleaner, updated facility next time. I think this hotel is misrepresented on the Booking website.
Review 76:The only thing this hotel has going for it is location.
Review 77:The room is not bad at all. Spacious and clean. Breakfast was great for a continental. Small bathroom but clean and did the trick. Pool was perfect and kids loved. Facilities are all they said in their website. Overall tums up
Review 78:The bathroom was dirty, full of black mold around, and the toilet seat wasn't even clean for at leaSt a month. It was all yellow inside the toilet. It was disgusting. Poor breakfast.
Review 79:I liked the inside and outside pools, they where excellent and deep.
Review 80:It smelled really bad in our room the first day. The hotel needs some TLC and the owners need to learn how to maintenance the property....details count. The rug throughout the hotel looks Old and needs to be replaced or cleaned. It's needs updating just like most of the hotels in Cape Cod.
Review 81:My kids enjoyed the indoor pool.
Review 82:There were a couple things that did frustrate me. When we first got there they ran my card when I wanted to pay cash. They didn't double check with me first. Their cleaning staff was insanely loud. I heard them banging their carts around for hours and they kept knocking on our door while we were in there or just trying to come in. We are very clean people and the only thing they would have needed to do was make the bed so we weren't worried if they couldn't come into our room. It was very disruptive and rude. They also shut the lights out on us while we were in the pool ten minutes before it closed. They could have politely reminded us it was getting late and we would have happily gotten out. The wifi was hard to stay connected too as well.
Review 83:The pool was heated and wonderful, and so wasn't the hot tub. Everything seemed clean. Our room was nice and the air conditioner was awesome. Kept the room at a great temperature. The outside patio was nice to sit at in the evening. Very happy with the facilities. It was around a lot of activities as well. We never had their breakfast because we went out to eat.
Review 84:In desperate need of building exterior painting. Cleanliness of rooms left a lot to be desired. Never once was it dusted or bathroom floor washed.
Review 85:Proximity to beaches and neighboring towns and restaurants
Review 86:It was a typical beach room I guess. My husband and I stayed in a king size bed. The bathroom was not very clean. There were still hairs from the previous guest located all over the bathroom floor. Also, my husband and I found a spider in the bed when we woke up, which was pretty gross. We left our shower shoes at home since we were in a hotel, but we decided to skip showers and wait until we got home. There is a free continental breakfast, but the cereal was stale and the coffee was gross. We ended up going down the street for coffee at DD. Finally, there was WIFI, but you needed to wait a few minutes for anything to load. Overall, my husband and I dealt with the hotel since we were only there for a night. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are staying multiple nights.
Review 87:The location of the hotel was great. It was conveniently located near West Dennis Beach. My husband and I arrived a few hours early prior to check-in time. The man at the front desk told us where the closest beach was located. Then, he gave us easy directions to get there.
Review 88:Loud air conditioner/fan. Bathroom tub seemed like the floor underneath it squeaked might give out.
Review 89:We enjoyed our stay at the ambassador. Close to beaches and good restaurants. Staff were friendly people. Continental breakfast was a nice treat too!
Review 90:a little way out from beach area if you like walking. very small pool, packed all time. was July 4th weekend though. poor wifi, staff did try get it fixed.
Review 91:clean , facilities, friendly staff.
Review 92:The Wifi was virtually nonexistent, as was the cell phone coverage. I felt like I was on a cruise ship in regard to my contact with people back home. The breakfast was average at best. There were plenty of carbs and no protein. The doors did not seem to be locked after dark.
Review 93:A very clean and well maintained facility.
Review 94:A little uncomfortable about how the door was left open to the outside from the side doors. People were leaving it ajar so they could go out and smoke. Then not closing it when they came back inside.
Review 95:We loved the breakfast, the pool indoor and out.
Review 96:I will probably be going back to this place with my family. I had no issues with anything.
Review 97:The check in was very quick with a very informed individual. He helped me to know what was available for local attractions. The breakfast was served for a 3 hour time frame which gave you the opportunity to sleep in if you wanted. The pool was very large affording ample room for anyone interested in swimming. There was a gazebo available at the pool area which allowed you to get out of the sun if you needed to. The resort was very quiet even though there were several families staying there.
Review 98:Bed uncomfortable, but not terribly. Bathroom tight, especially on toilet. Stuck between wall and tub. WiFi signal hit or miss. At night around 9 it seemed to suffer. Lack of rule enforcement, little kids were in hot tub for an extended period of time. No towels in the pool room, have to get from from front desk. Finding someone at the front desk I found difficult. Free breakfast was a bit lacking, wish it had more prepared hot foods.
Review 99:Location is great. WiFi good when working. Room clean and big enough. I love the outside and indoor pools. Indoor hot tub was GREAT. I would visit Ambassador again.
Review 100:Peeling wallpaper with mold behind it, creeky floorboards, confined toilet, stain on comforter....dirty rugs, and pool
Review 101:Breakfast dining, wifi, and quiet, also the people were nice!
Review 102:I am sensitive to smells, and it seemed like there was a "Febreeze" scent, albeit a cinnamon-y air freshener scent, which seemed to be in all of the common areas and in our room the first night (it waned after the first night). Some people might like that smell, I did not only because I connect it with it being a chemical fragrance which is covering up...what?
Review 103:This is our 3rd time staying here over 4 summers and we do so because it is so close to the Y-D Red Sox field. A family member coaches them and we stay here to come to see him. The price is right, the place is clean, love the indoor pool, and the staff is friendly.
Review 104:Apathetic staff; no security- door to stairwell unlocked; nobody monitoring entrance; shabby curb appeal- outside rug cheap, buckling; outside furniture in poor condition: NOT 3 star worthy.
Review 105:Not a bad experience, but breakfast line was long, because theres only one waffle maker in the main breakfast area :)
Review 106:Staff was pleasant and helpful, rooms were clean.
Review 107:The host wasn't welcoming, made us feel "like we shouldn't be there ". The toilet was dirty, the lamp shades, fixtures, phone and surfaces were dusty. When I went to the front desk, first about the toilet, "he said he'd speak to house keeping ". Then a few minutes later we discovered the dusty room. I asked if there was another room, he showed us another, just as bad. The room had a nicely laminated statement about satisfaction. We were not satisfied. We left a day early. Instead of asking why and how our stay was, I was reminded that I had a non refundable room and that there was a lot of traffic. We went and bought Lysol and Lysol wipes. I guess, enough said.
Review 108:The man working the desk the night we were there was very unfriendly and grumpy. He did not offer any help and was rude when asked a question. Also the pool was supposed to be only adults after 9, but instead had almost 20 screaming running children in it. Also was looking forward to hot tub the most. Had 6 to 8 children in it even though sign said no children under 16.
Review 109:The room was very clean and comfortable. I liked the pool and hot tub. The breakfast was good.
Review 110:Small "double" beds, full size, although I made a reservation for 3 adults and paid extra. I complained and i had to pay for an extra horrible bed. the room smells mold and cold tobacco. The aeration in the bathroom must communicate with other rooms since the smell was variable, sometimes with fresh tobacco.
Review 111:Thr fridge is the room
Review 112:The extra $25 fee wasn't expected. The gathering of a dozen loud people outside the front all evening was a little sketchy. Staff were rather rude, abrupt, and seemed annoyed. Was checking on my car regularly and frequently.
Review 113:Was effective and clean and available on a moments notice if you don't mind an extra fee to check in before 3pm.
Review 114:It was very noisy. There was soccer tournament in town and kids were running wild. Staff didn't seem to do much to stop kids screaming and running up the hallways as well as completely taking over the entire first floor and pool. we had a room over looking the pool and all we could hear was "cannonball!" until 10 pm, this also started at 9 am. The staff did move us to another room and was very apologetic. The second room was much better.
Review 115:Good sized room, easy parking, close to restaurants and the water.
Review 116:Some what lacking of maintenance lamp shades torn. Door jams cracked, entry floor tiles loose (trip hazard). ceiling tiles in breakfast room water stained etc
Review 117:Large room plenty of hot water
Review 118:The heater in the room was very loud and turned on and off frequently
Review 119:It was clean, comfortable, and convenient. the pool and hot tub were wonderful stress-relievers. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Review 120:Should of brought the husband and the two other children.
Review 121:We did not get to the hotel until later in the evening. It was bright and clean .The man behind the counter was in a suit coat. With a great big smile on his face. Check in was smooth and effortless. We stayed 2 nights.
Review 122:I get like I was an inmate I was constantly being watched and the outside door for hotel right next to my room was left open the entire time so it felt very uneasy being there
Review 123:The clean room
Review 124:It was very disappointing that the indoor pool wasn't working cause of some renovation. For me as a guest, I would have appreciated to get this information before our arrival or even before the booking. Maybe we would have chosen another hotel instead. The breakfast was very very basic, maybe because it was offseason.
Review 125:Quick check in, clean room
Review 126:Being directly across from the pool, Having children running upstairs down the halls constantly, when we spoke to the manager he just smirked at us. Not being accomadating for an extension cord..or another light...when we booked the quilt retreat we were not informed of the big st.patricks parade and all vendors and party people that would be staying in the hotel. we would of chose another date. It was an uncomfortable stay.. If you could do anything to help us out it would be greatly appreciated... Maybe two or threee free nights at the winddrift... We are 59 year old woman that had a bad time. The staff woke us up to clean our rooms when we CLEARLY had a do not distrub sign on door.....just a bad vacation...Hoping you will resolve it.
Review 127:Continental breakfast was truly continental. Go across the street to the Olympia delicious, reasonable breakfast. Pool cold have been a bit warmer.
Review 128:Location was great, two nice restaurants right across the street. Pool and hot tub were nice, Room was clean, comfortable beds. Lobby was very pleasant as was the staff.
Review 129:Very old and with little updating. It did not smell good there. The pool was too cold to swim in; the hot tub a little too hot and loaded with chlorine.
Review 130:The beds were clean and good for sleeping.
Review 131:Visited the Cape he end of December so we got great value. The lobby area, breakfast room were nice. This was a nice place to stay, accessible to dining and not too far from some of the beaches.
Review 132:The service there was water in my in the wine bowl from the previous occupant the bathroom had mold on the ceiling probably cause there's no heat in there and the Exaust didn't seem to work very well and when I went to get a cold drink all 4 vending machines were sold out and the clerk said "sorry I don't know what to tell you they will be full when the people come to fill it" good service for maybe a motel.. I would not stay again.
Review 133:The hot tub
Review 134:Pool was cold, vending machines with drinks were empty.
Review 135:My husband and I were traveling and we went to a different hotel and that hotel did not take cash, so we decided to come to this place. They let is in the night before for the same price so we did not have to pay extra. We are not locals so we did not have to put $100 down. The staff was excellent. The pool was cold but the hot tub was wonderful. The rooms were nice and clean. My husband loved the fact that we had a flat screen tv. The vending machines did not have any drinks in any of them.
Review 136:The reason we stayed at the cape was for my husbands dad's funeral .The 1st 2 rooms we had were freezing we put the heater on went to supper and came back as we were getting things and ourselves ready for the services the next day we heard crackling sound and looked over to the window and notice the plug was on fire my husband jumped up and unplugged this which he could have been burnt. He went to tell the person at the front desk who had us move to the 2nd flr with adjoining rooms at this time we all were heading to bed and then at around midnight I went to ck the plugs because I was nervous the plug in the room I was in was still cold however the plug in the 2nd room was melting so once again my husband unplugged it and one of the pronges was melted into the wall once again my husband went downstairs to inform them of how one of the beds the sheets had a stain and was like crumbs in the bed. They offered to chg the room again but by this time we wanted our money back and they said we need to talk to the owner which the owner said they would talk on the morning when ckg out which left us to have to stay at this hotel with no heat because we were afraid more would happen when we ckd out in the morning the owner hide k the back and wouldn't come out to talk to us. I just can't believe someone would have to do that to a family or anyone for all we went thu in one night. So not only did the alarms not go off but the owner never notified the fire dept. if we didn't come right back after eating the room would have been in flames. So all I am asking for is to credit my card
Review 137:At 1st we were excited about having a pool and hot tub
