Reviews for The Conch House Marina Resort

Review 1:Room was not as expected. It was in a small motel when we expected what was shown was a hotel. Feel we were mislead by pictures provided about facilities.

Review 2:City of St Augustine is a gem.

Review 3:Internet is relatively slow during the day.

Review 4:Nice place next to the marina, spacious and clean room w all we needed. Staff did everything to assist us retrieve lost items w AA flight, that was so helpful. Will definitely come back here.

Review 5:Everything else. We stayed twice since we used it as stop point between Miami and our destination in Georgia. The first time we stayed in bedroom suite 15. The room was old, the bed noisy and the bathroom tub and shower dirty. The second time we stayed in bedroom suite 17. The room had been renovated about two years ago.The bathroom shower, no tub, was clean but about 2AM the lawn sprinkler went on for about 20 minutes hitting the window outside the bedroom. Overall bedroom suite 17 was much better than bedroom suite 15. The Restaurant is open for breakfast Saturday and Sunday only. Another inconvenience we found out after check in.

Review 6:The location

Review 7:The structures are 80+ years old and show it. Lack of maintenance and overall cleanliness make for a very mediocre experience.

Review 8:The location next to a marina was nice.

Review 9:Wifi very slow Housekeeping knocking on the door at 8:30am even though we were not checking out that day.

Review 10:Location, very close to the centre of St Augustine...only a 10 min walk across the bridge. Also close to beaches. Bar, restaurant etc all located on site. Boat hire here also Very clean spacious room

Review 11:Wi-fi was hard to get until their technical assistant helped me. They have been working on it so I have hope.

Review 12:Old Florida resort in a large Marina. Rooms are dated but we had a huge suite. This is what old Florida should look like. Much better than a hotel room. The bar and restaurant were great and the Goombay Smash was super

Review 13:I absolutely liked EVERYTHING... From the first phone call, the greeting as I checked in...the staff, the room, restaurant, bar, location...it was PERFECT!!!

Review 14:Was not the greatest room but did have a kitchen if you intended staying for a longer time. Wish we stayed in the historic district which we were only able to explore the following morning.

Review 15:Amazing location . The staff we met were very helpful . SADLY the accommodation was VERY LACKING The potential for this place is to be stunning . Needs up grading badly . Our bed ( queen ) had a dip in the middle , so we rolled into it . Just 2 coat hangers . The utensils in the kitchen was embarrassing . Felt sorry for the staff , after all they can only work with what the manager/ owner provides . Just good basic essentials would be a good start

Review 16:LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION !!!!!! . LOVELY to walk on the marina even saw Osprey flying around .

Review 17:Room was old and not very clean, beds were uncomfortable and air conditioning unit was extremely loud so we couldn't have it on at night. Also when we arrived at 2.40pm the lady at reception looked up from the book she was reading and said 'check in as at 3pm' then carried on reading - we had just arrived from a long journey and it was torrential rain, seemed a bit unfair!

Review 18:Nice pool and great tiki's, free parking and a reasonable walk into town.

Review 19:The bed was really hard, the light in the bathroom is kinda strange (red), didn't find hair dryer

Review 20:I liked the location the most and the room was pretty cozy, parking was included

Review 21:Advised front desk clerk wifi was down, took 2+ hours for him to figure out how to reset the router. Advised manager of a slick greasy area in front of our door in which I slipped and fell, he said he would have maintenance handle right away(9:15am) it was still there when we were leaving for dinner near 5pm.

Review 22:Tiki bar/lounge was nice and the bartender was extremely friendly.

Review 23:they advertise them selves as 50's décor. this only applied to the bathrooms and the kitchens. The first room had a new modern bath. Very nice. Kitchen dark green low lights on ceiling. looked dirty. Berber in the living room was filthy, sticky and should be taken up and discarded. We had to change rooms. they needed to exterminate. Second room was better until you tried to use the bath room. Oh it was older than the 50's. tiny sink, corroded faucet and knobs and staines. Shower was 3x3 grout was filthy and stained. The tile was stained and it looked like mold. 50's is one thing this looked like they just didn't want to do the expensive up date. I would stay some where else next time and go there for dinner and or drinks and music.

Review 24:the setting was lovely. beautiful marina. lots of palm trees. tiki bar and restaurant. live music at tiki bar. restaurant was very good. Food was great. Nice friendly staff.

Review 25:Room was lacking many amenities, and was not clean when we arrived. Head housekeeper cleaned it up for us.

Review 26:Marina environment was very good. Enjoyed the evening parties, and the restaurant.

Review 27:The shower heads are extremely low, the beds are a little hard and the pillows need to be from this decade. The towels all seem to be to small for a normal sized people like we are.

Review 28:The location and amenities are superb.

Review 29:Parking could be better.

Review 30:We had a great view over the pool, the staff was wonderful and accommodating, restaurant was superb and enjoyed watching the boaters daily catch being filleted.

Review 31:Older establishment. But, the facility is great. Bathrooms really need to be updated!

Review 32:This place is close to town. The staff were beyond friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were always very clean.

Review 33:Allotted room 5.No wardrobe, no drawers of any kind. No where to put our clothes or cases. Arrogant manager, feet up on desk asked what could he do about it. No other rooms available. Room always like that. No one else had ever complained. More or less take it or leave it. Money refunded left with nasty taste in mouth. Whatever you do beware of Room 5. Or like us beware of Conch House.

Review 34:The room is so outdated. That's kind of cool to a point. It was clean, but the blinds were bent, everything was painted over many times, the mattress was awful. Thin pillows, thin towels. It wouldn't take much to update to shabby chic!!!

Review 35:Absolutely wonderful restaurant and bar - docks and marina is great. The price was really good for the clean room. But it could have been so much better.

Review 36:Although the rooms are designated as non-smoking, smoking areas are provided outside each room. This situation allows smoke to infiltrate adjacent rooms, especially when heavy smokers are neighboring non smokers' rooms.

Review 37:Having the pier as part of the facility come and go was terrific. Watching the fisherman clean their catch was even better!

Review 38:The rooms weren't rustic...they were old and poorly taken care of. For almost $200 a night I would expect a proper bathroom and mattress . You can maintain the retro feel and still upgrade your facility. This felt like they took the easy way out and called it rustic because they did not want to put money into their property.

Review 39:The location was great, Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was fantastic. Live music was great

Review 40:A homeless person showed up to ask for money and a place to stay. It was very late and my sister was sitting outside. It was not good. The security person showed up because I was rather loud to ask for help. He handled It very well. We'd still come back. Wonderful place!

Review 41:So much...Location, restaurant, friendly and hard working staff everywhere, nice room.

Review 42:Just because you say it is a resort doesn't make it so. A few tiki huts and a marina do not make a resort. The Regency Suites, across from the beach, is a much better value.

Review 43:Old 50-60's Small motel nested in the middle of a modern marine resort. Very well updated but you can still tell it has vintage style. With only 20 something rooms we had very personal attention on checkin and parking. I would have loved to use the pool (alas winter) reminded me of the places my family stayed on vacations in the 60's. (Think Chevy Chase/Tieg Vacation Motel). The place felt very safe and secure. Really hope someone does not tear it down. This is a AAA prime example of the Small Motel w/Pool which dotted our country 40-50 years ago. Rooms are very nice cosy and modern inside. We all slept great. Wish we could have stayed longer. We would have loved to have relaxed by the cozy little pool and enjoyed a well deserved retro moment.

Review 44:These aren't really bit complaints (we loved the place & will definitely stay there again) The room wasn't loaded with amenities. (Not even a phone) Food was "eh" at the restaurant, and not really worth the price. Service was great.

Review 45:The location was the best especially for the price. Quaint little motel, and the layout and area of the restaurant were so cool. We loved walking around the marina & my boyfriend loved watching the sunrise while everyone was loading their boats for dives and fishing trips. It's nice and close to lots of restaurants & the historic area of Saint Augustine. Staff there was very friendly and helpful.

Review 46:Not much to complain about. Restaurant is a little overprice but that's to be expected. I hated the pillows. Bringing my own next time.

Review 47:Great location, close to everything and great waterfront view from just about everywhere. The restaurant is very cute too.

Review 48:It would have been nice for the beds to have been turned- not necessary for clean sheets as we only stayed 2 nights. Also the lights were so bright it was difficult for sleeping- we were first floor near the pool. No towels left for second night.

Review 49:check in was quick and rooms were very clean but smelled like bleach. Food was very good at restaurant. Staff courteous and efficient. Excellent price for season rate. Close to beach and downtown. Will definetly stay there again.

Review 50:It was next to impossible to use the Wi-Fi because of the low signal. Also, cleaning staff had just mopped before I got in the room and the floor was still wet. I wish she had said something.

Review 51:The apartment was spacious. And the kitchen was fully stocked

Review 52:The room was very dated, but very clean.

Review 53:The site had great amenities (restaurant, bar, pool, view). The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was large and came with a kitchen (dishes, silverware, pans, etc., plus a full sized fridge and stove.

Review 54:we stayed here because it was a 2 bed room. I don't think it was worth the price. the bathroom was a tiny shower stall, fixtures are dated. Beds are uncomfortable and squeaky. The office is not open 24 hours so be sure you get there at check in time.

Review 55:The Conch House Restaurant Restaurant was amazing. They had a bar overlooking the marina. The tiki huts are worth the wait.

Review 56:a/c filter was in such poor shape the warning light was on; no help from staff. sand on floor. difficult to breathe. Mgr. of restaurant so rude others later commented to us on her behavior. unloading car was not convenient, nor was parking.

Review 57:outside setting was relaxing.

Review 58:It is unfortunate that such a good location can be so poorly maintained. It was so dirty that we actually had to go to a local retailer to purchase cleaning supplies in order to take a shower and to be able to stand the odor in our room. The bed was unbelievably uncomfortable. The shower didn't drain while taking a shower, nothing in the room was clean from the floor to the fixtures to the glass on the tables. We brought it to the housekeeping staff's attention and to the front desk and once we returned to our room after the room was supposed to have received a "deep cleaning" nothing had been touched. It was honestly the worst experience that we have ever had in our travels anywhere in the world. Extremely disappointing.

Review 59:The location and the fact that they refunded one night's stay because of the fact that the room was so disgusting.

Review 60:Parking spots for guest were not clearly marked for your room ! No discounts for resort guest at restaurant ! Restaurant was not open for breakfast !

Review 61:Ole Florida feel

Review 62:Free wi-fi would have been a plus, but otherwise, we loved it.

Review 63:Lovely location; friendly, helpful staff; nice rooms. When a plumbing problem arose, we got a free room upgrade. Very happy!

Review 64:one of our beds had castors on it . was like sleeping on a skate board. but hey take the castors off and viola problem solved ( hehe ) still a great place to stay !

Review 65:Restaurant was great and reasonable, Location close to everything we wanted see ! Great Place would stay again !

Review 66:Checked in on Sunday after 3 p.m. There was a party on the pier with 1400 people. No place to park although I had reservations. Drove around the dirt parking lots with pot holes full of water. Had to go kill time until 730P . returned and found a parking space. People were leaving talking vulgarity and urinating in parking lot. Got in my room #15 and outside the window a girl dropped her clothes and urinated in front of the room. Sundays is not a good time to be there. Bed was a wide full side so my feet stuck off the end . Rooms are very dated with old carpet and rusty bathtubs.

Review 67:Good location. Good restaurant and pier bar other than Sundays

Review 68:It was very run down from what I remember a long time ago. Doesn't seem to have been upgraded. The room smelled like disinfectant. There was no blow dryer, small fridge or microwave. The pool had a lot of bugs on the surface. The north parking lot is awful. Needs paving or at the very least leveling.

Review 69:It is a nice location near the docks, boats, water and close to all the sights of St Augustine.

Review 70:The Wi-Fi didn't work very good most of the time.

Review 71:It was a very relaxing, fun atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but the room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and the restaurant was very good. Would definitely stay again.

Review 72:Very accommodating. No bad experiences from any of their services.

Review 73:Went for reggae Sunday, ended up having dinner later on the open deck and sitting out at the pool afterwards. It was a wonderful experience. Would definitely do it again.

Review 74:Number One complaint! The Marina Staff would not allow fishing from the pier or docks even though the web site says you can with permission. They said only boaters paying for docking privileges were allowed to fish, but only from their boats. One of the reasons we booked this location was because our grandsons wanted to fish, the site said you could and this would have been very convenient. There should be a location off the main pier area for hotel guests to fish. Our room, #6 was in need of some serious updating/remodeling. There was mold/mildew in bathroom. Bath accessories; towel holder, etc were missing and there was no closet to hang clothes. Our bed was on casters and rolled every time you sat on it or moved while on it; not too convenient. Lighting was not sufficient without opening window blinds to let in outside light. That's fine unless you're wanting a little privacy and lighting at the same time! Older establishment but has so much potential with some forward thinking about future updates.

Review 75:Excellent Restaurant on site. Close to just about everything. Room 6 was ground level by the pool. Although dated, the facilities provide for a quaint, little tropical paradise type experience. With some updates to this room and a place for guests too dock fish it could have been an excellent all around experience.

Review 76:The bed was awful

Review 77:The pillows.

Review 78:Location

Review 79:Cleanliness was not great. No electric outlets in bathroom.

Review 80:Location was great. Overall size of room great. just steps to see the water

Review 81:TV in bedroom did not work

Review 82:Stay her offen

Review 83:Very basic . To a fault .

Review 84:Location . Stunning

Review 85:The bed n sheets were not very uncomfortable.

Review 86:Everyone was very friendly food Wes good.

Review 87:Rooms are not clean. So much of dust on all the furniture.

Review 88:Just old needs a few issues to be taken career

Review 89:Lovely location. A perfect vacation rental.

Review 90:Lighting, bathroom, difficult to get hot water, food in the restaurant was below average

Review 91:The staff were very accommodating

Review 92:Very old room and not comfortable

Review 93:The location was awesome close to downtown with just out of the traffic. The restaurant and lounge were very nice awesome seafood on the dock

Review 94:Everyone was so nice and helpful

Review 95:Room right next to the pool, and the fun location with the dock bar was fun.

Review 96:The beds are to small for 2 persons and they made noises when turning. The kitchen did not have cups plats glasses.

Review 97:The room smell of mold

Review 98:The room flooded in the night.

Review 99:The environment is beautiful, with fish and turtles. The room is clean and nice.

Review 100:Amentities, for a business that considers and calls themselves a resort, amentities are few at best.

Review 101:Location, Location, Location

Review 102:this definitely is NOT a 4 star property it is barely a 2 star dated, old and need of room updating

Review 103:nice location on the marina

Review 104:Not a 4 star hotel

Review 105:No kitchen , no sofas, and wifi was unbearable

Review 106:Love the location and ambient.

Review 107:Being by the water.

Review 108:it was nice to be close to the water.

Review 109:Cost per night

Review 110:Convenience of location

Review 111:At the restaurant the waitstaff was telling obscene jokes among themselves. It seemed unprofessional.

Review 112:The scenery was gorgeous.

Review 113:No extra blankets....drafty door... Need to be updated

Review 114:Marina

Review 115:Not "bad", but the only minor flaw - a lack of a comfortable cushioned chair in the room.

Review 116:Everything, with one small exception.

Review 117:Restaurant was excellent. Booking mistake for 2nd night.

Review 118:Furniture were old. Toilet was dirty.

Review 119:Restaurant was nice

Review 120:No phone, iron or ironing board in room

Review 121:Convenience to downtown

Review 122:Wi Fi

Review 123:Location, atmosphere, staff, restaurant

Review 124:The cleaning staff are the nicest people we have ever seen.

Review 125:No breakfast

Review 126:Pool happy hour and music

Review 127:Nothing

Review 128:Everthing

Review 129:The old fixtures and fittings did add charm as the little sign on the kitchen wall informed us but that is no excuse for lack of maintenance i.e black mold in bathroom, grubby corners, flaking paintwork, and dusty patio chairs, bathroom sink was blocked which admittedly was attended to promptly

Review 130:Restaurant and location excellent

Review 131:The room had a funky smell, but not bad enough to ruin our time.

Review 132:My itinerary said we would be staying in a king suite and when we got there it actually ended up being a beach house! The decor was seriously dated, but it didn't matter. The bed was super comfortable, the pool was nice and the food at the restaurant was amazing. We had an amazing time.
