Reviews for Winter Park Mountain Lodge
Review 1:Our room was located on the same side as the kitchen and the smells we really strong of cooking oils, etc. Also, the beds were too soft and the heat was very loud.
Review 2:Location - close to the base of Winter Park
Review 3:The rooms were smaller than what appeared on the website and were very noisey. You could hear people walking above, down the halls, stairs and throughout the hotel. My room (725) was next to the laundry area on the 2nd floor and someone was washing clothes at 3:00 am and the machine spin cycle kept us awake. Occupants were walking the halls, talking and noisey at all hours of the night.
Review 4:The staff were flat out rude. The restaurant was awful. The food options were terrible and not worth it. Our room was never cleaned the entire 5 nights we were there. The electric heating in the room was awful. It was either hot or cold. If we asked the staff for anything we felt like we were putting them out. We feel like we could spend our money better someplace else and are willing to pay more to get better service. We will stay somewhere else next year.
Review 5:We liked the convenience of location, the ski rental shop being on site and the snowmobiling that was accessible. The bus ran regularly and was easy. The hot chocolate machine located in the lobby was nice.
Review 6:Close to Winter Park, but not ski out; shuttle was late twice. Rooms in back not convenient, requires two separate elevators to reach. Room service missed coffee service, but staff fixed when I called. Hot chocolate in lobby would have been a bonus, but machine rarely worked properly.
Review 7:Decent room, clean, very comfortable beds, nice indoor pool and hot tub. Ski rental shop next to lobby.
Review 8:Excellent location, very convenient free shuttle buses, staff so helpful, ski equipment hire shop in the building, our room was huge with fantastic view of the slopes and a fireplace.
Review 9:Bar tender was rude and told me I could not sit in that area with my child. We then sat directly across from the bar. Waited 20 minutes in plain view and could not get anyone to serve our table. Left and returned 90 minutes later to see that the same bartender had seated a child in the same seat my child was kicked out of.
Review 10:Location close to the Winter Park base.
Review 11:A little dated. Work taking place during our stay. Had to get a shuttle bus to ski area , as not recommended to cross road (which could be a little inconvenient )
Review 12:Friendly staff . Bar area nice . Ski shop on site
Review 13:We didn't like the first, standard room that we had booked. It's definitely worth upgrading when booking to the "forest" or "mountain" view portion of the hotel.
Review 14:The manager was very accommodating, she let us upgrade to the nicer part of the hotel. The food and drinks at the restaurant/bar were great.
Review 15:The only issue we had was the restaurant was understaffed and the only waitress had a very hard time keeping up with all the customers. It was packed and it took about 2 hours for our whole dinner and we only ordered a salad, and burgers and fries. But they did have games we could play while we waited for our food so we played battleship. Overall it was excellent!!
Review 16:The hot tubs and pool where inside, easy to get to while staying warm and were very clean and relaxing. The had plenty of towels stocked down by the pool for your use. The restaurant and bar had very good food and drinks! And we loved that they had a free shuttle that runs every 20 minutes to take us over to the ski lifts and back.
Review 17:The female bartender was rude and unprofessional and the food wasn't cooked all the way
Review 18:The front desk people were nice n friendly and helped us with what ever we needed
Review 19:The restaurant/brewery. Only had one cook when we attempted to eat there and other guest were waiting a long time for their food. We ordered two beers on tap that were very flat and it was clear that they had not cleaned out the lines on their tap system in a while. Having to return the beer and unwilling to wait forever for a food order, we ended up going somewhere else. Additionally, they were out of some of their beer selections; this can't be a brewery, right?
Review 20:Great value on the room.
Review 21:The hot tubs were not cleaned often enough and there were used band aids on the outside of one of the tubs. There was also a lot of dirt in them and towels were not readily available.
Review 22:It was nice and quiet post Labor Day weekend. The hot tub and pool were also quiet and we were afforded a decent amount of privacy. The mountain view was awesome and we could see the alpine slide across the street. At night, the soft glow from the ski village across the street gave off an almost romantic atmosphere.
Review 23:Upon checking in we were told we had reserved a room on "back" part or older part of hotel - our printout did not reflect that to be so - their computer was down at 4:30 Mon afternoon - we could not be moved to another room because of the computer being down. The room was small and the bed was terrible.
Review 24:Hot tubs were working
Review 25:Layout takes a little getting used to before you can navigate the halls.
Review 26:Easy access from the highway, two large hot tubs and family movies in the pool.
Review 27:Very OVERPRICED for what you got. Understaffed, restaurant not in operation, parking garage not available & parking was limited & not convenient. Staff couldn't give directions worth a darn and didn't seem to care about anything. Handicap accessible room on second floor??? If there had been a fire how would we get out? Couldn't take a shower because water came out of back of shower head where cord connected to shower head. When we complained staff didn't seem surprised it wasn't "fixed" and offered to change our room to a totally different kind of room on a higher floor that was more expensive. Bed was too soft and every time you rolled over the other person was nearly bounced off the bed. Wifi was not protected.
Review 28:Location was good
Review 29:Staff was awkward. Quiet and a little strange would describe most of who we crossed paths with. Nothing terrible, just weird. Outside of building definitely needs work. We were in the "annex" part and once we drive around the back I was concerned at the shape of the exterior but once inside it was a lot nicer than anticipated. Also, they charged my card an additional $100 hold for a damage deposit that I wasn't told about til check in. Thankfully, I had it available...it wasn't released til a day after we had checked out. Not a big deal I guess but I feel it needs to be let known before booking.
Review 30:We had three small children. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. Beds very comfy and lots of pillows. The pool area was amazing (and the water was warm!) and we had it to ourselves every time we went, which was a lot! The price was right! I would definitely stay again, especially for the price we paid and the pool area really sold it for us.
Review 31:Bed was comfortable but felt very ichy/not well cleaned, breakfast was just coffee, it would have been nice if you had a shuttle to the town.
Review 32:Friendly staff, close to WP/within walking distance, awesome bar.restaurant downstairs with great deals on food/drinks, hot tubs were a nice feature
Review 33:This hotel allows pets on the first, second, and third floors, which isgreat for pet owners.. However, if you're very allergic to pets, orhave asthma...you may want to ask to stay on the upper floors (which wewill do next time). We stayed on the 2nd floor, and the rooms are veryclean..absolutely no pet hair anywhere, but dander is difficult to getrid of, and I did end up having to take allergy meds. --Just somethingto know when booking.
Review 34:Very large, clean room. -Excellent value!
Review 35:Room was not clean. Mattress and pillows were old and lumpy. Air conditioner did not work. Carpet in room was all torn. This was a distressed property and should have had a 1 star rating.
Review 36:Room was dated, smelled as if it had been smoked in recently. It appeared that we were given a room in an older wing of the hotel.
Review 37:It was right across the street from the Winter Park ski area. Nice views of the resort
Review 38:Hotel rooms do NOT have A/C as advertised. Service at the resteraunt was horrible, never received part of our dinner, waited 20 minutes for silverware after dinner was served, never asked if we wanted anything to drink. Had to ask for water. Rooms not very clean.
Review 39:Location was great.
Review 40:The most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. This hotel is noisy... I don't think the other guests were unduly loud, I just don't think there is enough, if any, sound insulation between the rooms. Parking is woefully insufficient,I and probably 25 other guests had to park in a fire lane. There was truly nowhere else to park.
Review 41:For as busy as they were, the staff remained, pleasant, helpful and patient.
Review 42:The property and common areas and room was very "dated". The room was noisy and since the hotel caters to pet owners there were dogs barking until almost midnight.
Review 43:The staff was efficient and friendly.
Review 44:Our room was advertised with air-conditioning but sadly, there was no air-con when we arrived and the hotel staff could not switch rooms for us. It was a hot night and we didn't sleep well. We complained to booking.com after our stay and received a partial refund but sadly no response from the hotel. We won't go back but if you are looking for an affordable overnight stop then this is a good option. Moreover, this will be a much more appealing place during the winter.
Review 45:This is a simple lodge, very affordable accommodation if you need to stop overnight on your journey. It has a swimming pool and its own brewery with lovely beer. Ample parking space.
Review 46:No closet, hooks or hangars. Pool, jacuzzi was over chlorinated, water looked dirty. Coffee maker was inop, the replacement was filthy. No a/c, there was only one window and it didn't have a screen, had to call for one. Walls ARE paper thin, heard a baby crying in the next room until 1200am.
Review 47:Location, price, cleanliness.
Review 48:The bar and restaurant closed at 10pm. No breakfast served
Review 49:The view from our room was amazing. The bed was so comfortable. Great loacation all the staff was friendly.
Review 50:Well booking.com say winter park is 36 miles from Estes park and its not!! Its 63. We towed the motorcycle to ride the park to Estes, much longer ride than we thought. The bed was awful and hard, there were holes in the curtains and I asked for a room not looking at the dumpster (like I read on a previous review) and that's what we got. This property looks great online but really needs some serious upgrades on its rooms. The staff was friendly but not well organized it took forever to check out. Seemed like the "left hand didnt know what the right hand" was doing. Wont stay there again.
Review 51:The bathrooms are very small but they were nice and clean. Our door wouldn't shut unless we slammed it shut, which took several times. (And that was after the maintenance man "fixed" it.) The road noise at night.
Review 52:Our room was clean. The shower had good water pressure. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful & accommodating.
Review 53:The heat/AC blew directly in my face when I was in bed trying to sleep. The heat/AC unit was a little old and out dated. I was very disappointed in the food quality at the restaurant, especially since I had read good reviews about. Also the wait person didn't seem all that interested in helping me out. Perhaps since I wasn't ordering alcohol? I would stay here again, but would not eat in the hotel again.
Review 54:The front desk staff was very pleasant on my check. The room was very attractive and a lovely view of the mountains. Staff was very prompt in delivering extra pillows when I requested them.
Review 55:- Rooms were very loud and the view was lacking - Booking process was a pain tried to cancel but they would not allow. Was not clear during booking that it was non-refundable. - The hot tub jets didn't work and the pool room was too hot - Asked for a late checkout only given about an hour despite the hotel being almost completely empty - The food in the restaurant is very overpriced
Review 56:- Micro Brewery is very good and well priced - Overall the hotel was very clean - Parking was not an issue.
Review 57:The main issue in the Week i stayed was that I was abused by the bar - girl/employee - and treated with rudeness and contempt simply because i was from out of town
Review 58:No breakfast possible in motel/resort/lodge. Not easy to get to ski area with car & not possible to "just cross the road".
Review 59:Quick check-in. Lift to 5. floor. Very nice beer in hotel-brewery ❤️
Review 60:Rooms too small need renovated Food horrible - and had to pay for breakfast Sheets not changed - dirty rugs in room
Review 61:Location Sitting area with fireplace
Review 62:Indoor pool had such a strong odor from chlorine couldn't even sit in there for 5 minutes. Literally made our nose and throat burn. No refrigerator j. The roo. And a tv that was 30 years old
Review 63:I wasnt impressed at all with anything. Website made the room look a lot better and bigger than It actually was
Review 64:Could be a little cleaner. I spilled food on the bed and had to ask for the sheets to be changed. It was not hard to see, should have be done without me having to ask,
Review 65:Location Location Location ! Loved the staff,( with the exception of one bartender he was very rude!!! The front desk staff was wonderful!! we had one car and a conflict in appointments between the women and men. They offered to bring the guys to they appointment. Wonderful !!!
Review 66:First room was small, dark with a small window which looked out to a wall.
Review 67:Staff moved us to a different room upon request. The new room was much larger, bright and had a nice view.
Review 68:The room climate control did not work it was either a sauna or an ice box. I reported it to the front desk and the lady liked down and gave a little smirk. As if she knew.
Review 69:Location is good. But it is across the street from lifts. Busy road. No crosswalk. Have to drive or take the shuttle to the lifts.
Review 70:The walls are so thin you can hear everything, yet when people knock on your door you can barely hear them!it was weird, but we got complained on for being loud When we were talking and watching tv!
Review 71:I liked the fact that our lodge was super close to everything.
Review 72:Breakfast is presented as free continental, but they ambush you with a bill only after you sit down with your food.
Review 73:Great location, large rooms, and an indoor pool.
Review 74:the breakfast was horrible and it cost $14. I would definitely go into town and pay $4 for "Ronald's House" over the powdered eggs they serve here.
Review 75:the location was nice
Review 76:The wi-fi reception on the 5th floor was spotty, but we were at the far end of the property. The restaurant wasn't great. Somewhat disappointing for a resort town. Basic breakfast and not great service or setup. Condiments were old (honey wouldn't pour). Syrup container was covered in syrup, hot sauce was out, no mugs available, the kind of problems I'd expect when a place was busy. There were 3 other tables when we went in.
Review 77:We had a great room that gave us a beautiful view of Winter Park. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Review 78:The cable TV wasn't fully functional, there wasn't a phone in the room and the walls are so thin that we were woken up at 6:15 AM (not my idea of a vacation) by the people talking in the next room - not just a muffled sound, but hearing every word!
Review 79:Shuttles drive every 30 mins and feel like forever in cold and soo easy to get lost. The restrooms were very dated. But then again we are in the mountains right..
Review 80:Thee breakfast was awesome!! The bus shuttles to the resort! The events at the park. View from our suite. Fireworks.
Review 81:The front entrance was constantly dirty, the front desk help were having difficulty checking us in and the restaurant was closed on a Sunday. I was also changed twice... not the quality I was expecting.
Review 82:The hotel is pretty from the outside. The beds are comfortable.
Review 83:The restaurant food wasn't worth the price of it.
Review 84:It was close to skiing facilities. Enjoyed the view from our window. Having a shuttle to wherever we wanted to go was great.
Review 85:1. Super dirty under the beds. We found dirty socks, razor blades, straws, toys, chewing gum, layers of dust, etc. Not vacuumed in years. 2. They decided to paint 4 rooms right next to us-in season. When I complained of the smell the front desk manager (Ms. N...) told me to open window in 10 F. 3. We stayed 5 days and since we always try to help the earth and save $$ to the lodge for we requested no cleaning, we just left waste baskets outside the door for them to pick up. It took every day 3 reminders so they pick it up. 4. Breakfast area: a. chairs so dirty we had to place towels on the seats, so we could sit down. b. if you want just water forget about it there is nothing, no pitcher no faucet no fountain. c. they offer an oat meal in packages but NO place to prepare it.The instruction on the package state microwave or stove. None of that is available at this Lodge. When I asked for microwave, the front desk manager told me they do not have one there, and that I have to use the one in my room. SO, I had to carry my skinny bowl with milk every day through elevator, so I could eat something. d. Yogurts, when I asked the same front desk manager why they only have chemically sweetened yogurts (the Light version) she replied. What do I want when the breakfast is free! So, I paid $800 for the Lodge and nothing to eat. Just chemically sweetened yogurts and chemically colored cereals for kids. e. There were NO boiled eggs for 2 days and when I asked if they have any protein they replied peanut butter to which I am allergic. Rest of the Lodge: carpet in the restaurant is filthy, any entrance door is open 24/7 no key required, counter-top in inside rooms in bathroom is so small you do not have much room to place your stuff, sliding doors inside rooms are so annoying you could hardly use the closet.
Review 86:View
Review 87:Only a couple of things I didn't like, but maybe, they could be added in the future? One there is no room service available from there restaurant, which btw; has great food & service. Traveling with children makes it more difficult to go anywhere once your in this hotel, thanks to there excellent & warm (Large Indoor Pool & Hot Tubs to relax in with the kids!) The second thing to possibly add would be additional food choices for breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausage and a few more waffle makers considering my girls had to wait for 10 minutes until the single one was freed up. other than those few things everything was very accommodating.
Review 88:The rooms were clean & had a spectacular view of the ski runs! Very relaxing & comfortable. It made the stay stress free for me as a single father of 2 girls. The staff was very professional, not to mention they upgradedon't my room for a very low additional cost. Very well worth it! We will be back for sure! Already reserved for the next trip.
Review 89:Laundry facilities were not easily accessible. Front desk staff was not very friendly or knowledgeable. Pool was closed.
Review 90:They were remodeling portions of the hotel and did not seem to have adequate staff. That being said the bartender, Andrew, seemed to be doing it all and provided great service considering he was the only one tending bar and waiting restaurant tables. He was very friendly and took time to ensure we had what we wanted. The food at Moffats, the restaurant, was some of the best in town; not fancy but portions were large and tasted great!
Review 91:I really think the cost if 60 a night is what the place showed us. There windows really need work on the so called panaramic view and the t.v. was small and nit clear. Also the coffee was awful.
Review 92:I like the aera, the bed was ok.
Review 93:The town shuts down "in between seasons"????? Hard to find restaurants open for breakfast. Hotel only serves breakfast on the weekends.
Review 94:The desk employees and staff were very helpful. They delivered a microwave to our room, with no problems. Beautiful view from room, great food in the tavern/restaurant. Sauna, hot tub, and pool an added bonus. We also loved the jetted bath tub in the room. Overall experience was perfect. We will be back.
Review 95:Location was not as it appeared on line. Restaurant was very noisy. Breakfast poor. First room the bed linen was not changed. The second room very noisy with traffic and dog barking next door.
Review 96:Nice towels and comfy second bed.
Review 97:Brewery didn't open till late and closed early, all the staff was not from there and didn't know anything about the area. We had a garrenteed room ready check in time of 4 pm, well when 4:06 rolled around no room ready . They put us in another one , not sure why they didn't do that hours before? The maintance guy set off the fire alarm spraying something at 10 pm and everything in town was not open cause it was a Sunday. Not worth paying over $100 a night.
Review 98:Location was excellent! Right across from Winter Park Ski area and forest access area right up the ride to go ATV riding.
Review 99:The hotel needs major improvements. The carpet in our room was in very poor condition. The continental breakfast was terrible. My son got glass in his foot. Bar closed too early on a Saturday night. No music in bar.
Review 100:The location was great. We had a great server in the bar.
Review 101:Continental breakfast was very lacking. No coffee. No hot water for tea. No bread for toast. Pretty much out of everything by 8:30 am. Bed was very very uncomfortable and pillows like cardboard.
Review 102:Location
Review 103:We tried getting dinner during regular restaurant hours and were told the chef was "MIA". The bartender did offer a free drink to compensate but no food was available. The rooms could use some updating. And the water pressure in the shower was nonexistent.
Review 104:The staff were friendly and helpful even though they were quite overwhelmed and short staffed.
Review 105:I booked for a mom-son getaway weekend with my 4 year old. From the timewe arrived, until the time we left we had an absolutely fantasticexperience. The staff was so wonderful and helpful, and we had the mostamazing time. Would recommend to anyone!
Review 106:The sound insulation between rooms is barely add adequate. There was missing hardware in the rooms and some damage to walls and windows, suggesting minimal maintenance.
Review 107:My son and I appreciated the articulate and informative staff.
Review 108:The room is very small and the facility does not recycle.
Review 109:Close to WP village, bus access.
Review 110:The hot tub area was a little dirty. And the pictures online were very different than the room.
Review 111:Kinda dated, needs a little tlc on facilities
Review 112:Nice staff,good location
Review 113:Fitness room and elevator setup
Review 114:Swimming pool and hot tub
Review 115:Vending machine out of water
Review 116:Brewery was fun and location great
Review 117:Easy access to Winter Park .
Review 118:Air con was old and not really adjustable.
Review 119:Good size rooms and beds.
Review 120:Staff was great location great would stay again
Review 121:Facility worn down.
Review 122:Comfortable beds. Nice towels
Review 123:11 o'clock closing its a in house bar
Review 124:great view
Review 125:Rooms were a bit small, but efficient and clean.
Review 126:Location was great, staff good, water hot!
Review 127:Clean comfortable room. Plus it was the cheapest one I could find. I just needed a bed and a bath room--short stay.
Review 128:Rooms didn't have refrigerators or microwave
Review 129:Area was nice
Review 130:Nice clean rooms. Nothing fancy but comfortable. Pool & hot tub area nice. Very friendly staff.
Review 131:The bed and fireplace. Large room.
Review 132:The price is a bit high.
Review 133:The hot tub and pool were awesome!!
Review 134:Staff didn't seem to be well informed on what was or wasn't open in Winter Park Village.
Review 135:Location.
Review 136:None
Review 137:Great cosy feeling.
