Reviews for St George Inn - Saint Augustine

Review 1:While we were on the balcony, a stranger walked up the stairs and opened the door to our room. We asked him what he was doing, and he said he was looking for the place to buy a beer (clearly a lie). I think if the hotel had a rope across the bottom of the stairs that indicated guests only, it would deter people from going up to the second floor where the rooms are located.

Review 2:We were a group of friends and we had three rooms side by side. We shared a balcony which made it great fun at happy hour. View was nice from both sides of the room, a balcony on the front and one on the back (all Pinta rooms.) Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good! Location of hotel couldn't be better!

Review 3:No on site parking - loading and unloading a problem at times as truckers were parked in the loading zone spots at times and street very narrow to park temporarily to unload or load - caused car to block other vehicles.

Review 4:Location was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Easy to pick up trolley out front. Walking distance to just about everywhere.

Review 5:Walking up 3 flights (I was on the 3rd floor). It was Very noisy. Especially when party people come home at 2 am. It sounded like they were in my room when they walked up the wooden outside stairwell. Also had to park yourself 1 1/2 blocks away (with use of a key card).

Review 6:The locatin was perfect. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful and nice.

Review 7:Pillows were not good: lumpy and too big Smoking on balconies brought smoke in rooms No separation between room balcony areas leading to people picking in room

Review 8:Great location. Good facility. Very nice and helpful staff. Comfortable

Review 9:I thought it was a true Bed & Breakfast instead it served a continental breakfast. We did not request an ADA room but got one. There was not enough room to put anything in the bathroom shelf/counter wise. The electrical plugs were hard to reach and not enough of them in the room. Also the fan was not clean. The employee, Katie was the most pleasant and helpful of all of them. I felt the cost was too high for what it was. Also was told that we could "walk" to a wedding venue at the White Room which was not true if you were dressed formally as we were.

Review 10:That it was located centrally.

Review 11:I didn't like that the room had a foul odor. Something related to de bathroom or the sink (which was outside the bathroom). Also the water smelled weird, not in a nice way My son's socks got dark after walking inside the bedroom I didn't like the breakfast, not worth it. It's way better to buy it close by and start your day with something nicer

Review 12:So nice location Very quiet room (few rooms per floor)

Review 13:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Location in the historic district. Ability to walk to everything we wanted to see. Small hotel. Our room was on the 3rd floor of the main building, with only 2 other rooms on that floor.

Review 14:Staff is very professional, helpful, and accomodating. Room is good size. Bed very comfortable. Great location within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and attractions.

Review 15:Great experience just not willing to pay for multiple nights due to high price. Would only be willing to pay for a room (1 night) again for another special occasion.

Review 16:I only stayed one night for a special occasion. Perfect location, brought bikes and was able to store them on the property. Great customer service.

Review 17:Room was lovely. Staff extremely helpful and cheerful in unloading and loading luggage for us. Location is excellent if your goal is to be able to stroll old St. Augustine.

Review 18:Room was exceptionally large and very clean. I declined maid service the next morning, and found a restock basket complete with fresh towels and coffee and TP at my door upon my return. Very thoughtful gesture. I will stay here again!

Review 19:Nothing bad to report.

Review 20:The location is right in the historic district. We never used our car once we checked in. The staff was extraordinary. Anything we needed they helped with. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 21:The tavern next door had some rowdy guests that woke us up about 1 a.m. I guess could be considered part of the overall experience of a pirate town!

Review 22:The convenience and unique location of being right on St. George St. was awesome.

Review 23:Upstair occupants were playing loud music and moving things across floor both nights. Our neighbors even were disturbed by the noise. We had no one to contact to see if they could be asked to quite down.

Review 24:The inn and location were wonderful.

Review 25:Loved everything!!

Review 26:The staff was amazing! You can't park onsite and they followed me to my car and carried all my luggage with just my pillow for me to carry! They were also super helpful anytime I had a question about something! The room was so nice! It had a very old timey, classy feel to it! Much better than your standard hotel!

Review 27:My only dislike is the night light outside of our room, it was difficult to sleep. Although there are blinds on the door the light was coming through. I understand that the lights are a protection measure for guests. If blackout curtains were installed it would alleviate this minor issue.

Review 28:Our room was lovely and large, the bed was extremely comfortable. Our balcony view was an excellent location to view the fireworks over Mantanzas Bay and the Castillo. The person who took care of making sure everything was clean and ready for our return in the evenings, realized that we enjoyed regular coffee rather than decaf made sure we had plenty of regular coffee. This observation was very much appreciated. My husband and I always enjoy our visits to beautiful St. Augustine and the St. George Inn. Our gift of the Musical Sounds CD of St. Augustine was an unexpected and lovely surprise. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Review 29:Can't say enough about this place. If you want to stay down in the historic area, this is your place.

Review 30:Location was excellent. Manny was especially helpful but the entire staff was wonderful! Went to the beach during the day, but then was able to walk to several hot spots for fun in the evening

Review 31:The front desk staff was excellent. There is a gentleman that I believe is Canadian who was the best I have seen. I would return just because he works there. Phenomenal customer service. The your ladies were good as well.

Review 32:Everything! Location, friendly and helpful staff. Loved having Starbucks in our room. The breakfast was very basic but the fresh baked bread was excellent.

Review 33:The best location- in center of everything yet super quiet in room and courtyard. Walking distance to most attractions. Breakfast was fantastic- simply a cold style breakfast with bagels and fruit but they offered Nutella which in my mind, makes up for anything else missing. Staff was beyond amazing and very helpful. Room was comfy and quiet. I've traveled a lot and this has been overall the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

Review 34:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 35:The hotel was lovely in all respects , but the staff made it probably one our nicest experiences, they were all amazingly friendly and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate going back there - thank you..

Review 36:Parking for off-loading/loading luggage is a little tricky but we appreciated the use of the public car park nearby. The wi-fi in the suite was terrible (needs a repeater). The stairs to the suite and the main room in the suite itself are very steep (though understandable due to the age/location of the building). The balcony serves as a shelter for smokers below and the property is in a very crowded area which I suspect could get noisy (it wasn't for us as it rained most of the time).

Review 37:Friendly and welcoming staff, room was spotless and the Starbucks coffee in the room was a welcome sight. The kids enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the feeling of luxury after a long drive. The weather wasn't on our side but we enjoyed our stay despite the few niggles mentioned above.

Review 38:Nothing!

Review 39:The location was great, right in the center of town. The staff were outstanding. They couldn't do enough for us. They were young, energetic, helpful and so obliging.

Review 40:Can't think of a thing!!!

Review 41:Loved the staff. They were so helpful and friendly. Room was quaint like the historic district of SA. It was so easy to get to all of the shops. Love! love! love!

Review 42:No complaints

Review 43:Location, location, location! Room was beautiful with nice touches. Didn't have room made up every day but a nice basket with all supplies was left at those times.

Review 44:Had a room w/ a balcony, but right underneath balcony were wall mounted speakers from the store downstairs. Store closes at 9, 10 music blares through bedroom until 11 ish.

Review 45:Everything else.

Review 46:The breakfast, for the cost of the stay, was limited but it encouraged us to venture out and see more of St. Augustine. So, it didn't impact our decision to return to St George's Inn in the future.

Review 47:Everything was pleasant. Personnel was pleasant and helpful. The location was awesome.

Review 48:The breakfast offering was very limited. It would have been nice if they offered waffles, scrambled eggs..

Review 49:Openness of the room, not feeling like a hotel.

Review 50:the only discomfort was that our car was not housed on site. BUT UNDERSTANDABLE

Review 51:The room was beautiful and spacious, but would have liked brighter lighting in the bathroom. The close proximity to the historic sites surrounding your Inn was excellent.

Review 52:The shops on St George street are basically like Busch Gardens. Very tourist trap style. Once you venture a block or two off things get much better.

Review 53:Beautiful rooms and very helpful staff. Very natural location integrated into old town area with balconies and staircases winding over shops.

Review 54:The parking - Though not far from site would be the only negative to the stay - but not enough to not schedule another stay at the St. George Inn.

Review 55:Location, Staff, Service was all excellent. Couldn't ask for a better location to visit St. Augustine.

Review 56:Too many stairs

Review 57:Clean comfortable great view Well decorated Quiet Perfect location Very accommodating staff very accommodating staff perfect breakfast buffet perfect breakfast buffet Fit in with the whole theme of Saint Augustine

Review 58:A charming historical town with many Adventures and beautiful beaches near. Our stay at St Augustine Inn was more than we expected all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean with probably the best sleep I had while staying away from home.

Review 59:I booked this place for my parents and let the staff know it was their 36 year anniversary. They were so kind to leave them chilled champagne in their room and treat them like royalty. Highly recommended.

Review 60:The staff was very friendly, helpful, and had great pride in the Inn- I thought for sure it was the owners and family. The breakfast was European continental with a great croissants and brownie bread and you ate in a lovely courtyard. The location is excellent.

Review 61:The bed was softer than I prefer.

Review 62:A great location for walking throughout the historic and tourist areas. Close to the Old Town area of shops and galleries.

Review 63:It would have been nice to have a few dishes in the cupboard, wine glasses as an example.

Review 64:The Castillo Suite is spectacular, two decks, one overlooking the oldest schoolhouse in the USA and the walking street while the other provided a beautiful view of the old fort and the bay. The room is large and the decor lovely.

Review 65:I did not have any complaints

Review 66:The st George Inn is located at the edge of town so you can walk toeverything but it is quiet at night. Huge room, very comfortable, niceselect I need for breakfast, free loaner umbrellas and beach towels.

Review 67:We do business in St. Augustine frequently and use to stay at a waterfront B and B. It has since gone down in quality and up in price , so we looked around and discovered this lovely place. Right in the heart of the action but quiet and clean. Nice staff also.

Review 68:No Microwave to reheat coffee , more floor rugs please, the tile floor was cold and blinds For privacy we had to keep messing with curtains.

Review 69:Room 25 Balcony , City Gates to the Left , the Fort in front of us with the inlet and sailboats, trolleys below us, Thats what your paying for !

Review 70:Great location. Very helpful staff. Very nice room. Spent 7 nights there and had a wonderful time. Plentiful continental breakfast including some gluten free bread (which we requested)

Review 71:When we would come back to our room the back door to the room would always be unlocked after they came into clean.

Review 72:Location was great. Staff friendly.

Review 73:The room was a bit small and on the second floor. There was no elevator in our building, so we had to carry the wheelchair. The parking was inconveniently located off the premises. The storage for toiletries was almost nonexistent at the sink. Our room, #15, was above the old school house, but the heating/air conditioning was outside the balcony and very noisy. The smell from the cigar bar was not very good.

Review 74:We had a great view of the old school yard and Fort. The staff was very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the coffee on a cold evening.

Review 75:No fire escape from top floor where we stayed. Just a heavy rope, well-anchored would do. Place is totally built of wood.

Review 76:Decor of Room 28. Location of inn. Friendly staff

Review 77:Ambience was lacking with little available except the room. Breakfast was very limited and parking was down the street.

Review 78:Location was excellent, room was neat and accessible, service was very good.

Review 79:Staff was outstanding and went out of their way to make us comfortable even included a staff's personal fan to make my wife's stay more comfortable. She's difficult to please.

Review 80:Since we were traveling with friends, the absence of a place to gather and chat was difficult for us..

Review 81:lovely and very helpful staff....professional and courteous...warm and friendly...willing to answer questions..proud of their work place..

Review 82:Room faced the street, very noisy early in the morning. There wasn't any place for our group to gather, no lobby, no real comfortable breakfast area. We are a group of older people, 2 rooms were up long flights of stairs, that should be made clear on the web site.

Review 83:The staff and location were great. Room was spacious.

Review 84:The downside is the lack of onsite parking which is provided in a parking garage a block away. But St. Augustine is a 'walking' tourist area so parking your car for the duration is a mild inconvenience. Valet parking would be a plus if offered.

Review 85:The Inn is located in an area well known for its history and the ambiance of the rooms reflect the feel of St. Augustine. Our room was large and well appointed. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous.

Review 86:Did suggest some type of shower caddy to put soap, shampoo and wash cloth to make it easier to use.

Review 87:Location right in middle of everything and easy to walk around. Nice Balcony to sit and relax. Very friendly staff. Owner was very caring to make sure we had a pleasant experience.

Review 88:No elevator, really hard to lift luggage to the room. Noisy on weekend (cause it's in a real center). Not very comfortable beds and pillows.

Review 89:Nice Inn and good breakfast (not great choice but everything tasty). Excellent location! Polite staff.

Review 90:This inn is within walking distance of everything in the historic district. Although the inn itself does not have parking, there is free covered parking 1/2 a block away. The staff unloaded my car and parked it for me. Although the rest of my family stayed elsewhere, after seeing my room, they all agreed it would be the St. George's Inn next time! The continental breakfast was just fine - not lavish but fresh and there was a mini-fridge in the room and plenty of coffee for the in-room coffee maker. Super.

Review 91:The inn's rooms are in a separated series of buildings, an odd arrangement. Our room on the second floor involved a steep climb, so beware if you have a lot of luggage or are not able to do stairs. The room wasn't cleaned on the first of two days here.

Review 92:The inn surrounds a nice courtyard and is just steps from the fort and St George Street, the walkable main reatail thoroughfare with shops and restaurants.

Review 93:Some noise from the units next door and overhead (we were on 2nd floor).

Review 94:The location central to a majority of attractions. Very clean rooms, nicely upgraded. Loved the balcony and courtyard. Included light breakfast items daily. Parking centrally located. Loved it, we will be back next Christmas season.

Review 95:Bathroom could use more storage space or table for toiletries. HVAC control was sort of hard to figure out. Breakfast was OK but I was expecting a little more.

Review 96:Room was a large size. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 97:I cannot name one thing we didn't like and we travel a lot

Review 98:It was our first trip to St Augustine and we arrived after dark and the staff helped us unload showed us to our room which was fabulous and gave some suggestions on places to eat etc.

Review 99:Nothing to dislike.

Review 100:Spotlessly clean large room in excellent location. Hotel staff superb, very friendly. Good continental breakfast I've Ncluding delicious breads. (Chic chip my favourite).

Review 101:During the am I could hear sounds, like scraping movement of furniture above me, like a chair or table . Earlier riser so no real problem but loud

Review 102:friendly staff, great location, breakfast, would return again.

Review 103:Being so close to the fort was a bonus. We were able to walk everywhere and leave the car parked at your facility. Loved the whole St. Augustine experience.

Review 104:The staff was extremely kind and keep helpful with checking in. Our room was absolutely beautiful and perfect for a romantic night in the heart of St George Street!!

Review 105:Our room did not have a bath tub. Next time I will know to specify room with a tub.

Review 106:Location was convenient to most attractions and restuarants. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was charming and filled with antique like furniture, not your standard hotel room furniture.

Review 107:It's not that I didn't like it, but the room was smaller than I had anticipated. We stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the oldest schoolhouse. I would still stay there again though. We loved it!

Review 108:Location couldn't be better! All the staff were so nice and accommodating. I let them know I had to have a gluten free diet in advance and there were gluten free options for breakfast. I GREATLY appreciated that!

Review 109:There are not Spanish channels. Must know that St Agustin is an Spanish heritage.

Review 110:Very friendly staff, the breakfast was fantastic, the location is very perfect. I will repeat this hotel again, my wife love it.

Review 111:Only the smallest detail was a hindrance. Two electrical sockets were unusable due to openings being too large. Electrical plugs fell out - including their clock radio. Also would like to stay on any level except top - too many stairs!

Review 112:Room was superb. Location superb. Staff was superb. We plan to return next year!

Review 113:parking in a parking garage, three flights of wooden stairs no elevator no note of this when booking the room.

Review 114:The view, the location, the staff carried everything up the stairs, at breakfast asked how everything was

Review 115:The St. George is lovely from the moment you arrive. It is not only in the heart of St. Augustine it is inviting with wonderful views. I can't wait to go back!

Review 116:They are doing construction in St Augustine so it was difficult to get to. However, the staff is great about helping you get there. Our only complaint was we were unable to get good wifi in our room.

Review 117:The staff were wonderful! The place was beautiful.

Review 118:We only had 2 days, and could of easily spend a week..

Review 119:The room was great, clean, comfortable and great value. The check in was quick and the staff tranfered are luggage while we parked across the road in a multi storey car park, but don't let that put you off, it was clean, well lit and out of the sun..big bonus! Loved the area, and the poeple. If you have time try a segway tour, ask for Corley, it was brilliant. 5*

Review 120:All of the staff we encountered were absolutely gracious and helpful. We got a call as we were driving checking to see if we needed any directions! (Which we did).

Review 121:Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Mostly breads, some mediocre cheese, and cold cuts served buffet style. If the weather was nice you could carry your food out to the patio, but I don't think there was any inside provision for eating except your room.

Review 122:The location to the historic district could not have been better. The staff was always friendly and very helpful.

Review 123:The hall was a little small and cramped for breakfast and checking in and out Parking in the middle of the road was a bit odd

Review 124:The staff were great I loved the breakfast by the fountain The rocking chairs on the balcony The rooms decor The location and proximity of everything The view

Review 125:St George Inn is a perfect hotel. Great value for money, large comfortable rooms and bed. The AC was super quiet and the location was perfect, right in the center of town. We loved our stay!

Review 126:Poor selection at breakfast. Not enough lighting for makeup. Lacking in counter space in bathroom. Too expensive for not having a pool. Couldn't park at location

Review 127:Location

Review 128:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 129:View of the fort, the river, the cemetery and Old Town from my balcony. The perfect location to relax or explore St. Augustine from. The staff is fantastic, large comfortable rooms, right at the gates to Old Town. I can't wait to return to my favorite place in one of our favorite towns.

Review 130:No complaints at all.

Review 131:Location was wonderful for exploring the area. The room was perfect in every way and the staff was excellent! Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a unique experience!
