Reviews for Anastasia Inn - Saint Augustine
Review 1:Old motel but clean. Friendly staff. Easy walk to the Bridge of Lions -- cross that and you are in old town. Strong wifi signal. I didn't play any video so I can't speak to bandwidth, but no complaints while browsing the web.
Review 2:Very old and looks very dirty. Very out dated. Not confortable beds. Would not recommend. For the price we found much better quality estandard.
Review 3:Location
Review 4:Facility is aging. Our room was ready for paint, new furniture, fixtures. Breakfast was minimal -- a few grab-and-go items set out in small lobby. Located in aging neighborhood, too.
Review 5:Hotel is just across bridge from main downtown area. 10-minute walk to main attractions. Room includes a microwave and refrigerator.
Review 6:The facility is a bit dated and tired. Cleanliness was decent, but furniture and carpets really need replacing. Just a generally needed rehab would help this to be a better experience.
Review 7:The staff at Anastasia Inn were very friendly and VERY helpful. Location was convenient to Historic downtown St Augustine and price made it a good value. Overall it was a good experience. We would go back.
Review 8:The man at the front desk was super nice. The property is dated but, really, for that price in St Augustine? It was a half mile walk to the downtown area we wanted to be in, no need for a DD or a cab!
Review 9:It was a bit difficult to get breakfast. The reception area is very small and too many people wanted breakfast at the same time. You had to get your food and go to your room.
Review 10:It's a very nice, cosy place; great for a short stay in St. Augustine. The historic part of the town is less than a mile away. It was very convenient for our two-day visit.
Review 11:The room smelled smoky, and the rug was ancient and looked filthy- was a bit scared to walk barefooted on it.
Review 12:The manager was super nice and helpful, and the location is good. Even with a 2 yr old, walked over to historic district, and not a bad walk at all... 12-15 mins. Cheap price too!
Review 13:The bathroom was pretty weird. No toilet lid. The whole place definitely felt "budget."
Review 14:Location was good...just a 15 minute walk into old town
Review 15:filthy, paint pealing off and mold and just filth thru ought , worse than a super 8 motel , would not stay there even if it was free , towels were to be white but were yellow with stains , if your drunk and looking for an by the hour motel this would suite
Review 16:the bed was ok , and the maid folded the towel into an animal
Review 17:good value for money, friendly staff. We walked to the center of st augustine in 15 minutes, the walk back in the evening was fine. No noise from the main road
Review 18:The walls are thin and I could hear my neighbors talking at night. Towels were in bad shape. Walls could use a paint job.
Review 19:Affordable hotel with everything I needed in the spacious room. Friendly staff. Easy walk over bridge to all main attractions. Delicious bagels for breakfast.
Review 20:The housekeeper was very friendly and had patience.overall the staff was very friendly and did not hesitate in accomendating me for a lower level due to my broken leg.
Review 21:No reasonably affordable eating places within walking distance. Since it's not in the historic district, thought it was a little overpriced.
Review 22:Clean, loved the small pool, attractive look from the outside. Half way between the historic district and the lighthouse/alligator farm.
Review 23:The toilet did not have a lid which is a huge sanitary issue. All thelinens seemed relatively old as well as the tv. The actual surroundingarea is also visibly not the best. I wouldn't say ghetto, but plentyof extended-stay hoteliers.
Review 24:The guy who runs the property is very nice and helpful. He gave usplenty info of the area whenever requested. Also, there is convenient onsite parking. The proximity to the city centre is optimal as it is rightover the Bridge of Lions.
Review 25:You pay for what you get. Bed was old and springy(uncomfortable) ; towels were worn and non-absorbent; bathroom light made a horrible noise - louder than the fan;
Review 26:The location to the beach was nice...
Review 27:The room was damp smelling, very worn looking room, overall feeling over neglect and uncleanliness. Not at all what I read online - day of stay there was a report of bedbugs a few weeks prior. They said it was taken care of but that combined with strange people living in motel next door made for a uncomfortable stay. It is not worth staying there
Review 28:1.5 mi from historic area
Review 29:Next time I'll spend more for better accommodations.
Review 30:Very convenient location. Very good value for the price. They were replacing mattresses while we were there.
Review 31:The sheets had not been washed; the bed had just been remade. I foundscabs from someone's wound(s) in both beds and residue fromsomeone's nose on the sheet. The 2nd bed top sheet was very oily anddirty at the top. I pointed it out to the manager, and he didn'teven question it - just gave me back a percentage for my room. I sawthem cleaning downstairs, and there was no bag of dirty sheets beingbrought out that I could see. I wouldn't stay there again.
Review 32:The continental breakfast was fresh, for what they served. There wasfresh orange juice and milk, and the bagels were good. It would havebeen nice to have actual butter and not margarine.
Review 33:We should have just paid more and stayed somewhere nicer. The beds were hard, the whole place smelled a bit like urine, and no feeling of safety.
Review 34:Great location and a good price
Review 35:Shower had super low water pressure. It was better the second time I used the shower. A little noisy at night from surrounding bars, but still worth it to stay here.
Review 36:The micro/fridge combo was super helpful! The proximity to St. Augustine was perfect without having to pay high prices.
Review 37:No bad experience.
Review 38:It felt as if we were with family. It was very friendly and we felt as though we were returning guests yet this was our first visit.
Review 39:The pool was like the size of a hot tub. And the parking was very cramped
Review 40:The location was great you were close to everything. The maid had a different towel animal for us each time she cleaned the room. It made us smile.
Review 41:The pictures on the ad do not represent the hotel accurately. The room was dull and a little musty. The breakfast bar was a little space in front of the check in desk. The pool was tiny and not welcoming. Even on a hot day.
Review 42:The staff was nice.
Review 43:It's not a fancy hotel but it is clean and it's close to the amphitheater. We had a first happen that really set this place apart. We received a call telling us we had forgot our charger. I can not say how many chargers we have left behind at hotels. This is the first time someone called and told us. Great customer service!
Review 44:TV was old and remote didn't work...very few channel options...The room was dreary and the towels felt like sandpaper
Review 45:Location was great...Manager was very friendly...Price was great for this area and it was clea
Review 46:Shower heads and all hardware in the bathroom need changing. They were rusty. It was noisy. I was on the first floor and heard a lot of car engines, slamming doors, etc.
Review 47:I did not see any bugs at all- which is a good thing. I booked this because most of the reviews said it was clean, which it was. Breakfast was basic. Muffins bagels, cereal. It was good enough to start the day before an early lunch. Attendant was pleasant.
Review 48:The hotel is obviously in need of some renovating. The walls were dirty, the carpet had cigarette burns and the exterior was also unappealing. The pool was EXTREMELY small and dirty. The location was okay, it was about a half mile walk to the Fort. Overall don't expect too much from this hotel. If you are planning on being out for the entire day and don't want the luxuries of a nice hotel then this will be fine.
Review 49:Man at the front desk was friendly and there was plenty of parking. The breakfast was decent, nothing special. No hot food just cereal and bagels.
Review 50:breakfast was 3 cereals, plain bagels and muffins. very basic but for what i paid overall well worth it. pool was about approx 15'x15' nice to dip in but not to play for the kids, but heck you are by the beach who cares?
Review 51:was very happy with our stay, staff was very quick to respond to a problem we had.
Review 52:For the price I wasn't expecting much. But the linens really need to be replaced - they are very worn. And a new showerhead would make a big difference and be a minimal cost improvement.
Review 53:The location and price were great for a very short stay in St. Augustine. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly. No major problems.
Review 54:The people that run it, I am guessing live there. They are of an ethnic group & I would recommend they do not cook while people are staying there. The smell was almost unbearable. The pool is extremely small.
Review 55:The staff were very nice.
Review 56:Bed was not very comfortable. Property is a little run down and needs to be updated.
Review 57:Allowed early check-in which was appreciated. Parking was abundant and convenient. Staff (I assume he was the owner), was helpful.
Review 58:Pool tiny, never seem such a small pool, very little room for tables and chairs and the ones that were there were old and dirty looking. Very thin towels, one bar of soap and one shampoo for two people. Nowhere to prepare breakfast not adequate, seriously needs attention.
Review 59:Big beds, good location. Friendly staff.
Review 60:Office and breakfast area was not open until 7:30 am.
Review 61:Cleanliness. Staff: We left an item in the room after checking out and the staff called to let us know.
Review 62:The breakfast was pretty average, and there's no place to eat, but it's fine to take it back to your room
Review 63:A good location, about a 10 min walk into St Augustine
Review 64:Hotel & rooms were clean, but needed a little bit of upgrading, and perhaps some attention to details like cleaning around the mopboard areas, and corner areas of the tile. The Wifi didn't work too well either.
Review 65:We met 3 members of the staff, and they were all very professional, helpful and did all they could to make our stay pleasant. The location to St.Augustine's attractions was perfect, and we could walk over the Bridge of Lion's if we wanted to see the various attractions. The breakfast was just right to get us ready for our days' explorations. The coffee was also good - and that helps make any hotel seem that mush better! We liked the hotel very much. Thank you.
Review 66:Tv had a ring that hurt my ears, a couple light bulbs out, but still made it all work in the end
Review 67:For the price it was great, clean beds, mini fridge, microwave. 5 min taxi to old town district.
Review 68:Poor Wi-Fi reception, and we were close to the office where the modem probably was situated.
Review 69:Pleasant staff, and comfortable room. When we arrived and asked for a ground floor room he accommodated us immediately.
Review 70:The one bed was soft and the other hard, so I did not sleep that well, I had the hard bed. The room is a bit outdated but we didn't plan on being in it except for showers and sleeping. I wish they would get new mattresses and I would stay there again.
Review 71:I liked the location, just over the bridge of lions on Anastasia Island, away from the hussle. They have a tiny pool that was great for the kids. You can walk to Mellow Mushroom, OSteens, the Conch house and a British pub. The room was clean and we saved a lot of money staying here.
Review 72:I like the small size of the motel and the fact that it is family run. The location is perfect for a walk to the old town for sight seeing or a night out. The sleeping area is in the back away from any traffic noise. The breakfast is very basic and has to be eaten in your room but I like that too!
Review 73:The staff was extremely nice. I am assuming that the gentleman at the front desk was the manager because the way he acted. We ended up having to leave early due to an emergency and he refunded my 2nd night stay without hesitation. The hotel was convenient to eveyrthing.
Review 74:We have always had problems connecting with the wifi. In the past we thought it was because our room was too far away from the office. Same as in the past, on this visit it was nonexistent and our room was right next to the office. This needs to be tended to NOW!
Review 75:We have been going to the Anastasia since we've moved to Florida. Each year the owners have made improvements to all the rooms. The value is great and the location ideal. We will continue to stay at the Anastasia when coming to St. Augustine.
Review 76:would have liked washer and dryer but no big deal laundromat was very close by
Review 77:room was very clean, staff was very friendly, breakfast was simple but enough
Review 78:Location was great, we just walked right over the Bridge of Lions into St Augustine! The hotel staff were very friendly, the Inn needs an update but it was very clean & I care more about it being clean than updated:) My husband & I went for our anniversary but didn't want to spend an arm & a leg when we wouldn't be in the room much so this was perfect for us!! I would definitely recommend this hotel:)
Review 79:No cooking facilities other than a microwave.
Review 80:Close proximity to St. Augustine. The front desk fellow, Nash, was very nice. It was better than we expected with a nice continental breakfast.
Review 81:Bathroom tile was stained. Pool is really small.
Review 82:The hotel was old fashioned, but clean. Desk clerk was helpful. Recommended good restaurant down the road, close to the amphitheater.
Review 83:The beds were older not really as nice as I would prefer. There was a burn in the carpeting close to the entrance of the room where someone had dropped a hot iron on the floor
Review 84:The location was perfect for me. There's a great seafood restaurant across the street and a pub.
Review 85:We could here the music of the Pub across the street very loudl in our room. There was breakfast offered but no place to sit down and enjoy.
Review 86:The room was clean. It is close to downtown St. Augustine.
Review 87:The carpets need a deep clean or replacing and the beds could be softer but I am used to a top of the line mattress!
Review 88:We stay here every year and it makes for a feat getaway. The area has so many things to see and do. We love the convenience and value this inn offers. It is the best deal for the area without being trashy or scary.
Review 89:Parking needs to be more organized & regulated. Upstairs should park towards the fence. Other spots should be numbered to correspond to downstairs rooms.
Review 90:Minor point: Limited breakfast items, but I had OJ, coffee, and muffins each day - cereal one day. Thank you.
Review 91:Quiet; comfortable; facilities; location.
Review 92:The clerk asked for my credit card. I didn't realize until after I left the motel at 7 a.m. and was 100 miles down the road, but he never gave it back, didn't put it in my room later, didn't call me, didn't email. I had to cancel the card and I'm waiting for a new one.
Review 93:The room was about what I expected, for the price. The kitchen was a coffee pot (stocked with coffee and tea) and mini-fridge. Beds were okay. Bathtub had dozens of black molds in the white grout, the white bathroom stoop needed to be scrubbed.
Review 94:Shower doors needed to be cleaned around edges and recaulked. Also the pool needed a cleaning (ie.) Too many leaves. Also what spears to be garage doors look like the are in bad shape and should be fixed or painted.
Review 95:Nice bed. Central location room was clean. Great value.
Review 96:Breakfast was included, and I am not really complaining, I got everything and more for the price, but it got a little crowded in the office where they had breakfast set up on the small fridge and side shelf. The office was pretty small and when 4 people were waiting for one toaster, standing around, it gets tight. But for the price its ok.
Review 97:My friend & I stayed at the Anastasia Inn Dec 21-22 and the value compared to all other hotels was fantastic. The Room was clean & quiet. But what really impressed me is that I got a call from the Inn telling me that they found my Phone case and they are mailing it to me. That is a great service. Thank you Anastasia Inn. I already told people to stay with you.
Review 98:unfortunately the beds were a litle soft and we rolled towards the middle .. the air conditioner is an on or off type and abit noisy (but the Hyatt we stayed in at Tampa had the same so must be quite common).
Review 99:Staff were friendly and helpful, room is small but has a microwave and small fridge which is handy. A short drive or walk over the bridge to the gorgeous old town ... at half (at least) the cost of anything in the centre! Great value and good location. We absolutely loved St. Augustine!
Review 100:The room was not clean, including debris and hair on the floor. The entrance door to our room was so dirty I didn't want to touch it.
Review 101:The location is close to the town center and tourist activities
Review 102:The room we had smelled like mold or wet dog mixed with some kind of menthol spray that the housekeeper must use in order to cover up the mold smell. The carpet felt damp by the front door area also. The water pressure in shower could be better.
Review 103:Room was reasonably priced for the time of year we were there ( night of lights). its right over the bridge from downtown area, so we walked everywhere. Didnt have to pay for parking or cabs. The housekeeper never bothered us to clean the room, she always waited until we left for the day. The one day she left us a cute towel bunny on the bed. Very quiet rooms. Never heard our neighbors once. We would definitely stay again. Pros out weigh the cons
Review 104:The restroom wasn't the most uptodate, but nothing to complain about.
Review 105:Compared to other hotels, they had the best rates and offered us a free upgrade from Double Queen to King size. No hassles, very smooth transaction.
Review 106:Bagels were doughy, muffins were so so. No breakfast room or tables to sit down to eat.
Review 107:Good location away from the crowds but close enough to cross the Lions Bridge to get to Old Town St. Augustine in 15 minutes. Manager and I believe it was his son were very accommodating. Wi Fi was good.
Review 108:Not really -
Review 109:You get what you pay for. The breakfast is ok, just perfect to grab a baggel, cereal, cofee and go! Excellent that the breakfast was included, it is a plus. The kitchen is perfect, I could hear some noise from the street but not loud. The parking is perfect just in the premises. The best is the location, although it is not a walkable distance is it a couple of minute by card.
Review 110:Average breakfast with toast, muffins and cereals only to "take away in room".
Review 111:easy to find and located within 15 min foot walk to old town over draw bridge (better than paying for parking there). Also not far to beaches (5min by car).
Review 112:Quite old decor and fan in bathroom very noisy. Not much choice for breakfast. There was a smell in office. Could all do with an update.
Review 113:Location quite good.
Review 114:Clean , convenient and good value. Maid even made towel animals on the bed every day. Coffee, juice and bagels in the morning, with muffins and cereal. Friendly, helpful front desk
Review 115:No fresh fruits for breakfast.
Review 116:Location is fair for the price. Room is clean and good for nonsmokers. No sign of pests is a Plus! I would stay here again.
Review 117:Bed too Firm for our taste Bathroom Towel should be upgraded. Child size does not work for Adults and too thin. TV -Could use an upgrade
Review 118:Location was near the Historical Area Approximately 1/2 mile Simple Hotel good for what we needed. Clean and Comfortable. Quiet- Neighbors were not heard through the walls
Review 119:The breakfast is very bare bones and you must carry it back to your room as there is no room in the lobby. The pool which has always been warm before was cool- too bad as I looked forward to using it. Hopefully that will be fixed before we return in December.
Review 120:The location for walking downtown is fantastic, just over the bridge of Lions. The hotel is small and quiet. Even though on a busy street, the bed area is at the back. The internet worked well. The young man at the desk was very pleasant and got us checked in and out quicklly
Review 121:I little rundown. Older ac unit, just looked old
Review 122:They were Very accommodating. We couldn't be there until after the office closed and they made sure I had access to my room.
Review 123:Hard bed and old shower head.
Review 124:Anastasia Island is beautiful. The Inn is compact, if you added a more comfortable bed and a new shower head, I would change my review to a rave. As it stands it was an excellent bargain.
Review 125:the rooms at this hotel were spotless. u could eat offf the floor there. it was close to all attractions price was really good for what i needed it for
Review 126:There was nothing negative about our stay. The only option for cooking is the microwave so your options are very limited. You will also need to bring your own utensils. I will still recommend the Anastasia Inn to our family and friends. And will return again the next time we visit St. Augustine, Fl.
Review 127:My husband & I stayed at the Anastasia Inn across The Lion Bridge in St Augustine, Fl. We booked for 3 days. We wanted a clean/comfy place to stay. Along with the price, this inn fit our needs. The shuttle bus that picked us up to go to the attractions was an added plus. We visit this area every year and will definitely return.
Review 128:Breakfast was not offered to us although supposedly included. Reception area had a very off putting aroma (stank) unfortunately this tainted our thoughts on the rest of the facilities and we couldnt wait to get out of there.
Review 129:The lobby was dark and smelled awful, like mothballs! And I was told that breakfast was put out at 7am and you could heat it up in your room. After looking at a dark corner of this small office, I decided not to wait until 7am for this, since I was trying to get back on the road nice and early. So I spent money on a fast food breakfast anyway. This is a cheap motel. .. not terrible at all. But my suggestion is, spend the money on a 'good' coffee set up and skip the plastic wrapped food all together. Or just lower price and skip it all! And invest in a Febreeze plugin for the lobby please. .. the little things DO count.
Review 130:Well lit parking lot, very quite, location is not pretty, but close proximity to all of beautiful St. Augustine! Good for one night to lay my head.
Review 131:Could use one additional ice machine at the other end of the property. Weather stripping around doors were in disrepair. TV reception was poor. All minor stuff.
Review 132:Very clean, and no bugs. Grounds, including pool, were well kept. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 133:No iron Bath tub drained slowly Flat pillows
Review 134:Great location if visiting the historical area, close to lighthouse, gator farm, ampitheatre. Very Clean and had microwave, coffee pot, and refrig which came in handy if you had food to reheat. Got to the hotel early and was no problem checking in...but be different during busier times. Nice gentleman at front desk. juice, mil and muffins and cereal available for breakfast. Maid freshened up room during our two day stay.
Review 135:WE ONLY STAYED ONE NIGHT, BUT FOUND TO BE A SMALL QUIET PLACE TO STAY. NOTHING FANCY, JUST A NICE ROOM AT GOOD LOCATION. NOT EXPENSIVE. BREAKFAST SMALL, BUT MORE THEN I THOUGHT WOULD BE THERE.
Review 136:The one thing i did not like is that the parking spaces for parking was a little small.
Review 137:1) I like the rooms, always smell cleaned. 2) The area was always quiet. 3) There was the right amout of lights outside at night. 4) It is located within walking distance to the trolly on the other side of the bridge. 5) The cost for a week was within reason.
