Reviews for A1 Economy Inn
Review 1:Very dated, and there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the room even though it was a non smoking room. Still not bad for the low rate.
Review 2:The room was very clean and the beds were comfy. The price was right. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.
Review 3:The facility is very outdated and the location and outside lighting very poor. The continental breakfast was very stale as well.
Review 4:The room was very clean.
Review 5:Old-fashioned appearance, but you don't have to worry about it. Taste of complimentary beakfast is not so good.
Review 6:Very helpful and friendly staffs, especially Roger. Neat room.
Review 7:I wasn't able to adjust the a/c, but it was easy to turn off (and I could have called for assistance, but opted not to). I felt a wee bit uncomfortable that guests had to be sure to close the outer door behind them, especially with a window built into the outer first floor wall of the room.
Review 8:Receptionist/staff person was lovely. Received local information. Easy to get to. Comfortable room.
Review 9:Room was in poor repair, had a musty smell and was dark. Trimming was broken. Air conditioner was loud. Entire facility needs renovation.
Review 10:Good water pressure in the shower.
Review 11:It wasn't a bad experience, but the plants all along the hallway seemed a little strange and the shower/tub was a bit high off the floor making it a little difficult to get in and out.
Review 12:The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and had a flat screen TV and the air conditioner worked well. The bathroom was nice with new floor tiles and the shower worked well, but took a while for the water to get hot.
Review 13:TOILET WOBBELED
Review 14:THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN. LAUNDRY DONE DAILY. WIFI HOOKUP EASY. GOOD SELECTION ON TV CABLE. STAFF COULD'NT BE BETTER. BEST I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR ASSISTANCE.
Review 15:I'm confounded that this place received such high marks from other reviewers. While the beds were comfortable, the room was dingy, the bathroom had no heat in it, the heater was really loud, and the entire hallway outside my room reeked of smoke, which seeped into my "nonsmoking" room. I've been traveling around the country for the past few months, and this is one of the most dissatisfactory places I've stayed in. Sorry to say it, but it's true.
Review 16:Our room was extremely warm. My significant other tried multiple times throughout the night to turn the heat down (make the room cooler) but to no avail. I'm sure if we tried this when we weren't half asleep we would have been successful because in the morning we were able to cool the room down.
Review 17:I have read previous comments that highlighted the hotel was "outdated". Some of the wallpaper and bedding may have an "older" feel, but everything was clean. Our room had a flat screen TV with Comcast connection. We were able to connect to the wifi easily. The breakfast was also nice. Previous reviewers mentioned there wasn't much of a continental breakfast, but for $60 what are you expecting? There was juice and milk and a toaster to make waffles and pancakes, as well as donuts and bagels. Overall, the room was very clean as well as the dining area. We were provided with the day's newspaper and some brochures featuring activities in Laurel Highlands when we checked in. I would absolutely stay at this location again.
Review 18:Oh where do I start? The place just needs to be leveled and rebuilt. Everything is just plain OLD - very clean but very old. There was a large depression at the foot of the bed which, instead of being repaired, just had carpet over it. When I first walked into the room there was a musty smell which improved when using the window a/c. The price was way too high for what was offered. The Budget Inn down the street was half the price.
Review 19:The poor guy at the front desk is so nice, but it's like he tries to talk to you so that you don't notice how shabby the place is. The place was VERY clean, but there's only so much you can clean old stuff. The breakfast was very nice. Nice TV.
Review 20:coffee(Rodger needs to change brands)
Review 21:price -- clean -- nice tv -- warm shower -- good choice of restaurants close by -- Dave the tractor guy(part time resident) -- would stay there again.
Review 22:The rooms are pretty old and in need of refurnishing. This is very much a budget hotel, so don't expect too much more. Some people might call this quaint. I call it old and funky. I had to wait several minutes to get hot water running in the shower, and was about to give up when it finally came through the pipes. BUT we DID have a decent night's sleep and would recommend it if you need to save money.
Review 23:We arrived around Midnight and the staff was waiting for me with the keys to the room and a very nice welcoming smile even though it was so late. The beds were comfortable enough for a budget hotel, and the room was clean. We felt like the management takes pride in what they DO have and although the Breakfast wasn't anything fancy, it was sufficient to get us started on our early checkout.
Review 24:Crowded entrance to bathroom
Review 25:Nice TV! (Large flat screen)
Review 26:Breakfast was typical for a motel. Cereals and juices.
Review 27:Spacious room. Dark interior. Proximity to Hidden Valley Resort- about 25 min drive.
Review 28:Was clean and staff was very friendly.
Review 29:So not confuse this with economy lodge in same town. Old but tried to be clean.
Review 30:Proprietor was nice but couldn't find her when leaving.
Review 31:Bed and pillows uncomfortable
Review 32:Very friendly and helpful!!!
Review 33:Very Clean and neat
Review 34:Musty smell and old carpet; worn out and dated room. Some exterior doors and hallways in poor shape.
Review 35:Staff were friendly.
Review 36:Personal touches.
Review 37:The breakfast room was kinda quiet and sad, so I decide to go out on the road for breakfast.
Review 38:Ease of check-in and friendliness of front desk person.
Review 39:the place time forgot. Badly needs refurbishing
Review 40:friendly staff, comfortable room and bed
Review 41:eveything
Review 42:nothing
Review 43:water pressure was very low
Review 44:Convenience to the location of my business
Review 45:Not the most up to date but everything about this was worth the money
Review 46:Extremely friendly staff. Eager to help in any way.
Review 47:Front desk was extremely informative on things to do in the area and with providing brochures. Very friendly and made our stay pleasant.
Review 48:Son go bedBugs Had to wash everything we had in the room just to be safe. They are trying hard but BEDBUGS!
Review 49:Friendly staff. Bathroom was spotless
Review 50:OLD AND WEIRD
Review 51:CLEAN
Review 52:Cost!
Review 53:The rooms were very dated and mismatched however extremely clean.
Review 54:Wonderful staff! We didn't arrive until 1am and our check in clerk had the air and tv 's on in our rooms. He even told us to fill up our coolers with ice in the morning and to make sure to grab the continental breakfast and take extra juice and snacks for the kids. You can beat the hospitality.
Review 55:The outside appearance of this old motel may be off putting to some as well as the check in area with the person behind the glass. However, the stay is just as comfortable as nearby hotels charging twice the price.
Review 56:A pleasant comfortable large clean room with small fridge. Each room has its own cable box so selection of channels is very good and TV's are flat screen. Staff greeting and service excellent. Would not accept tip for bringing bags and ice to room. Hard to beat the value of this place vs nearby hotels as long as you are willing to go with an "old school" style motel. I have stayed there twice and would do so again.
Review 57:I could smell cigarette smoke out in the hallway (but not in my room) and the continental breakfast was very limited.
Review 58:The place was clean, the staff was friendly, the décor was quaint.
Review 59:Old. In the "lobby" there was nasty white water stains all over the floor. The good thing is that a key was required to get into the building, but it was a 2 handed operation to open the door to the building, which was quite a challenge since I was traveling alone with a baby that had to be carried. There were holes in the wall in the room that looked to be for acess to wiring that never got replaced. I could not get the heater turned off, or even down. The bath tub was a good 2 feet or more off the floor, which made for a big step up, and a very dangerous step down out of the shower.
Review 60:The man working the evening I checked in was very friendly.
Review 61:Front desk attendant behind security glass. No key card, door key was similar to house key. Underlighted parking area. Did not feel safe. Room finishes aging. Hotel price was similar to national chain hotels but without modern amenities and security.
Review 62:Great location and exceptional value in the size of the rooms. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Although the rooms are a little outdated in décor, they make up for it in service and space. The rooms were spacious and had refrigerators in them. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others seeking a nice place to stay while on a budget.
Review 63:Lesson: you get what you pay for. This was a 1950s motel that was refurbished somewhere along the way. It was clean in that old kind of way, and quiet, but the bed was lumpy (both of them in the room), and the shower got everything wet. The breakfast room was about 100 degrees and lacking in any fresh fruit or non-packaged food -- got on the road and stopped at Starbucks. Oh well. If you're staying for one night and aren't too picky, this may work for you. I haven't a clue why it is rated #1 on the list in Somerset.
Review 64:The general condition of the motel is very, very old and dated. From the street, if I had not booked the room on line, I would have passed it by as being "sub-par". Location was great, since we were coming off the Tpke.
Review 65:Bed was fresh, rooms were clean, and the couple who run the motel were friendly and accommodating to the extent the atmosphere allowed.
Review 66:Non working toilet!! Couldn't turn TV off with remote. Continental breakfast was certainly not for the health conscious!
Review 67:Convenience off the interstate and price.
Review 68:The room clearly hadn't been updated since approximately 1952. This bothered my sister more than it did me; I just laughed. The carpet was a little sticky, and the room had a distinct smell of room deodorizer, although otherwise I can't complain about cleanliness. And the breakfast buffet was minimal, at best. Honestly, the room wasn't bad, if you're really sticking to a tight budget, but I'm not sure I can exactly recommend it.
Review 69:Bathroom was sparkling clean. The TV was large and worked well. The wi-fi was fast. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, the room was very clean.
Review 70:The facilities could use a bit more updating...ie wall paper off the walls, shampoo & soap left in rooms; maybe even coffee pots.
Review 71:The staff at check-in was extremely friendly and informative! They had a nice breakfast available. Price was excellent for the convenience of a clean room.
Review 72:Aged facilities and equipment.
Review 73:Good location, near both Shanksville, PA Memorial site and an interstate highway. Friendly staffer, eager to please. Make the most of limited resources.
Review 74:i hadn't been to a hotel with the old fashioned keys for years but we were in a very low-crime area so it was fine.
Review 75:it was very clean. the decor was fun and quirky. the breakfast was laid out nicely with plenty of everything to serve ourselves.
Review 76:Even tho the motel is older, the price is right and it is clean and safe. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 77:Worst bed I have ever slept on! Hard as a rock w/paper thin pillows.
Review 78:Friendly staff
Review 79:The breakfast was horrible. We went out instead.
Review 80:The room seemed clean and was comfortable.
Review 81:Cold bathroom floor
Review 82:Price
Review 83:It is a bit old and could use some cosmetic improvements. The breakfast was the worst that we have encountered. (The lack of choices)
Review 84:The price
Review 85:It is a quaint, clean, and comfortable hotel with a 1960 design.
Review 86:1950's(?) era
Review 87:Cleanliness, great staff, free breakfast, convienance
Review 88:Booking.com representation of this property.
Review 89:Location
Review 90:There was a ironing board but no iron. Décor was a little outdated.
Review 91:Room was very clean and convenient to the PA Turnpike.
Review 92:Staff was great
Review 93:Trying to get out into traffic from the parking lot.
Review 94:Easy check-in even when it was late.
Review 95:Old, funky dark rooms with musty oder. Office with security window.
Review 96:Clean
