Reviews for Meadowlands River Inn
Review 1:All good
Review 2:Really cheap for a hotel in New York. The bus is just across the road to go into manhatten. It goes to Port Authority right at Times Square. Takes 20 minutes but longer in peak hour. I had no problems with traffic on the bus.
Review 3:The only thing I did not like is that it smelled dusty in the room (even though it bad very clean) and in the halls. I think it is because of the way that building is being ventilated. It is impossible to open a window.
Review 4:Well, it was the cheapest (for NY) hotel, 150$ per night. The room was very pretty, with very large bed, good free breakfast, very nice service.
Review 5:Front desk staff friendly and very helpful My room was fresh and clean and the chamber maids mannerism was very polite I truly enjoyed my stay...and would love to go back in the summer
Review 6:The bus to go into the city was right across the street. The woman behind the desk was amazing, we told her about us taking the ferry and she suggested the bus instead. Much better suggestion for me since I really don't like driving where I don't know where I am. The breakfast was good! The choices for dinner were just a walk away, I would rather leave my car and walk into destinations unknown. I told my husband that if we ever decide to go to NYC, this is where we will be staying, without a doubt!
Review 7:The floor of the rooms dirty , not vaccuumed more often. Suggestions : vaccuum every alternate day. Offer dinners in future
Review 8:Rooms facilities Coffee available all the time Bus stop to New York just across the road Shopping mall nearby
Review 9:There was no large visible signage on the building during the time we stayed, so we spent 10 stressful minutes trying to locate the building thinking our GPS had failed us. I am sure once the full remodel of the facility is complete, that will not be an issue.
Review 10:Affordable. Close to Weehawken Ferry to Mid-town Manhattan. Clean. Comfortable. Nice Facilities. Friendly Staff.
Review 11:Front desk girls kept speaking Spanish in front of customers instead of being professional and using English in front of English speaking customers. They don't know that I could understand them but their lack of professionalism was disappointing.
Review 12:Beds were comfortable and location proximity to our events was great
Review 13:Everything, it has an awesome location, the staff is super friendly, breakfast is delicious and the best of all is that the have different options everyday. I absolutely recommend it, we travel with 7 kids and 5 adults and have the best of times !!!
Review 14:Only thing I can complain about were the elevators, very slow and one broke down one day - they might need an update :)
Review 15:We were so happy with our choice of hotel, very well located with lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Bus across the street took us to Manhattan in 15 minutes and it was so good to get away from the hectic city in this quiet environment. Breakfast was good and always coffee ready, would stay there again for sure. Rooms are spacious and the bed very comfortable, we were very happy with our stay.
Review 16:Efficiency of staff to help me w info to get to Manhattan, called me a cab for airport. Delicious breakfast, coffee available 24 hours, keep all areas clean. All staff very friendly, neat appearance of all staff. Very happy w everything. Price seemed lower than previous visit last year. Very pleased w that. Temperature in room was very easy to adjust to my comfort. Room was clean.
Review 17:The staff is very kind and available. The breakfast is rich and the hotel position is enough good if you want to visit Manhattan.the bedroom is large, confortable and clean
Review 18:I have to travel to NYC every two weeks for chemotherapy, transportation to and from the city is very convenient bus stop right across the street (20 min bus ride) beds are comfortable, rooms clean and staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 19:WiFi connection is sometimes poor, bed sheets not frequently changed
Review 20:Genuinely nice people, excellent location to visit New York with frequent buses across the street, breakfast is very good, rooms are nice
Review 21:The location was fantastic. Many restaurants close by to choose from. The ease of getting a bus to NYC. The front desk staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.
Review 22:Nothing...except the elevators were very slow.
Review 23:Safe area. Bus stop to NY across the street. Restaurants within walking distance. Hot breakfast a plus and free parking also.
Review 24:The double bed was not queen size and the bus schedual list the hotel provided us was not up to date
Review 25:Great location close to the bus stop to Lincolen tunnel Nice breakfast roomy and spacy rooms good shower facilities good good wi fi helpfull stuff good parking lot
Review 26:Our stay was wonderful! The staff took so much time with me about questions getting into New York City. They were amazing!! The bed was so comfortable! The breakfast was delicious! The hotel was very clean.
Review 27:Building is showing a bit of wear and tear (rip in hotel room carpet, water / coffee damage on wardrobe unit. Otherwise extremely comfortable and clean.
Review 28:Fantastic location - easy to get to Manhattan by comfortable bus. Great breakfast included. Terrific value.
Review 29:Breakfast lacked on variety... Bus to Manhattan are not as often as told... The "fitness centre" is only a tiny room with 5 machines that can not be plugged to electricity at same time ...
Review 30:"Cheapest" we could find to go to Manhattan easely. We were looking hotel with breakfast, fitness centre and parking .. Thumb up only for parking though...
Review 31:Breakfast was really poor and not fare comparing to the rate we are paying. Need to fix it asap and rooms needs to be cleaned more and better
Review 32:Location near bus station to nyc
Review 33:Room only on the ground floor without the possibility to change it. Close to the fitness room. The quality of the breakfast could be improved.
Review 34:Direct bus connection to New York.
Review 35:no personal interaction at front desk. acted as if they were robots... not bad, but not welcoming at all
Review 36:room nice.... breakfast included was very helpful.... proximity to restaurants made it easy after a long drive
Review 37:Just a minor thing. Some days when some conferences are organized it gets tricky finding a seat for breakfast. Some coffee or fruit need some longer time to be refreshed.
Review 38:- Excellent room - Very clean - Large bathroom - Excellent location, supermarket appropriate, quite and yet very easy to get to NYC (Manhattan) - Probably best value for money deal we could ever get
Review 39:Breakfast was very limited and served in a room that got crowded in the mornings. If visiting NY, consider the additional cost of taking the bus to NYC and eventually taxi to/from the airport.
Review 40:A perfectly acceptable and relatively cheap option for visiting New York. Bus stop is across the street and goes directly to Port Authority/Times Square (15-25 mins). Hotel is not new but rooms are spacious and comfortable, have air-con and the hotel offers all basic facilities (reliable wifi, a "business centre" with printer). Staff was very helpful on multiple occassions.
Review 41:Centrally located with loads of dining and shopping options nearby. Very close to the transit system which was reliable and convenient. 20 mins from Manhattan.
Review 42:the breakfast was very basic I thought but other than that nothing.
Review 43:I visited NYC with my 3 year old son so it was just me and him. I felt very safe at the hotel. the location is fab the bus is like to two minute walk across the road which gets you into NYC and that's then only 15 mins on the bus :) there is a starbucks across and restaurants to eat at with a wallmart supermarket only being a 5-8 min walk. its very clean and you get tv with lots of channels a fridge and microwave in your room and air con or additional heating! def would go back and def worth the money :)
Review 44:The bed was awful. My husband and I really did not get good sleep on it. I think the hotel is slowly renovating the rooms, floor by floor. If you get down to breakfast too late, there aren't enough places to eat. So, people would have to grab something and return back to their rooms, which slowed down the elevators. It helped that the meeting rooms would be open for extra eating places.
Review 45:The location was excellent. Close to Manhattan and tons of shopping and eating places close to the hotel. The breakfast was great, too. And the free wifi was nice.
Review 46:We did not like that there un-openable windows in the room and only air conditioning could be used for air filtration as the room was bit stinky and very humid and we had troubles breathing inside. Also it was very cold and too air-conditioned in the halls and lobby which was not very pleasant.
Review 47:We liked the location the most - Secaucus is just 15-20 minutes from NYC by bus which has its stop near the hotel. The breakfast were also very good and there was a possibility to take coffee, tea, apples and juices for the full day in the lobby. There is also a small fitness center in the hotel. Room (we stayed 4 in 2 double bed room) was quite spacious, beds were suitable though we did not like to share cover and the bathroom was quite big and suitably equipped. We also had fridge and microwave in the room.
Review 48:Not a bad experience but it would be useful to know other means of getting to Newark airport other than taxi, perhaps local hotels could get together and look at running a shuttle service? As taxi expensive.
Review 49:Convenient location , easy bus trip to New York , helpful staff.
Review 50:A couple of suggestions: the old sofa in the lobby needs an update to create a better impression. No outdoor patio or seating for guests was disappointing.
Review 51:Proximity to 320 bus and the variety of restaurants in the area. The breakfast was good with good variety. Good service from desk and room staff.
Review 52:poor quality of the food at breakfast. Room too small for breakfast
Review 53:Comfort of the room and the bed. Good location with the 320 bus going to Manhatan across the street
Review 54:bedbugs in the room. we complaint to receptions but they said its a dead insect not bed bugs. that doesnt make sense because we saw it .
Review 55:travelling to city is quite easy and only 15 minutes
Review 56:The bathroom is ok is just need some renovation .
Review 57:It's perfect place if you need to travel to NY , easy acces . Tasty breakfast with variety of food. Very nice and helpful staff , polite clining ladies, clean . Free parking .
Review 58:Very cheap breakfast, no choice Room is ok but need a refresh
Review 59:Situation with the shuttle bus to New York (line 320) Overall Good value for the money Free parking
Review 60:The room was very disappointing in that it was very dusty at the edges of the carpet and had an unpleasant smell. The bedding was damp. The staff sorted out the bedding situation when asked which helped. However the smell was still very apparent. We bought some air freshener but this only covered the smell a little. A deep clean could help resolve. May be that the room had not been used for some time or was a smoking room? Perhaps we were unlucky and other rooms were better.
Review 61:Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful which we really appreciated. There is a fitness centre on site and a place to print out things if needed. Breakfast was. limited in choice but still reasonable.
Review 62:The location was perfect for us. The bus into New York, the shopping close by and the restaurants within walking distance were all great. The room, breakfast, service, grounds, price did not disappoint. It was a good stay!
Review 63:Great value for the money for travelers to NYC. The bus to Manhattan is literally in front and takes 15 min. We got a hotel eith breakfast for the price of a 2star hostel in China Town.
Review 64:This hotel was very convenient and an affordable choice. The staff was very helpful- especially at the front desk. One gal, didn't get her name, went over and above to get us a great 'deal' for a cab. Only needed a cab to do a couple things- otherwise NJ Public Transit was VERY close, clean, easy to navigate, etc... to get into the city. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Review 65:The only problems we encountered were the elevators were really slow running and the back door was having problems reading key cards. So if we went out to our car which was parked in back we would have to wall around to the front to get back in. Also the wifi was not really strong so hard little signal strength.
Review 66:The staff were all friendly and willing to answer all questions. Free coffee was available 24 hrs in the lobby. The bed was really comfy. And loved that the bus stop was right across the street and dropped us off right in times square. I plan on staying here again if I go back to NY and recommend it to anyone else going.
Review 67:Hotel needs an upgrade, carpet, furniture, etc, but on whole minor points.
Review 68:So great no frills but comfortable hotel, great for a couple of days stay. Bus across from hotel, real easy access to NYC . Then leaving, straight on NJ Turnpike. Breakfast plentiful, but be patient as there is often a crowd, and it is self service, but you get what you want eventually
Review 69:I found it a bit pricey. Breakfast could be better.
Review 70:Staff were very nice. Specially Mr. Haresh. Very informative, patient and helpful during our 2 nights stay.
Review 71:Conveniently located in Harmon Meadow where there are plenty of choices for dining and shopping and entertainment. Easy access to NJ Transit to NYC. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
Review 74:Our children slept in de couchbed, but we had to make up the beds ourselves every day. Cleaning the room only consists of making your bed up and renewing the towels.
Review 75:The connection to NY is very easy with the bus leaving every 15 minutes near the hotel. Beds are very comfy.
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:Very convenient location (15-20 min. bus transfer to Port Authority) Bus stop just across the street. Clean and comfortable room and very friendly staff. We arrived early in the morning after tiring journey and they checked us in (with no extra charges). despite the check-in time was scheduled at 3 pm. That's a customer approach that makes a difference and makes people return. Highly recommendable place!
Review 78:It is still far away drom New York, You have to take the bus to the city, thema you have to use the train inside New York. The brakfast is not organized, a lot of people in a very small place. It is too difficult to find a place to sit.
Review 79:Clean, near bus station to New York. Near supermarkt and restaurants.
Review 80:Very nice and calm nearby area with choice of restaurants and shops. Good and quick connection to Manhattan by bus. The hotel staff extremely friendly, helping in every situation. Definitely recommended.
Review 81:There was a group of teenagers on a trip staying in the room next door on our first 2 nights. The hotel did not seem booked to me so not sure why we were next to them. When I mentioned it I was told "well they are only here one more night". Walls are VERY thin.
Review 82:This is a no fuss but clean hotel. The breakfast was AWESOME and had hot and cold choices that did change some day to day. The bus is right across the street and we were able to be at the Port Authority in 15 min. Good value if you are looking to stay near NYC on a budget. Room was clean!
Review 83:Noisy air condition, which turned on and off quite often. The bus was slow during rush hours (1+ hours instead of 20 minutes).
Review 84:Location was very near a bus stop with frequent buses to Manhattan and nice neighborhood. Breakfast was good with many options. The room was big enough for our family.
Review 85:Room does not feel clean and bed was noisy with every turn.
Review 86:Location was excellent, access to public transport to New York and others just opposite hotel.
Review 87:Room was not ready when we arrived which is irritating. We had driven since early morning to get to NY and my pregnant girlfriend really wanted to have a relaxing break to freshen up. It took about 30 minutes of waiting in the lobby waiting for a temporary room. We received our original room later that evening. Installations are showing their age / use and are due for an update / renovation. Did not use complementary breakfast. Many people there and better options in NY a few minutes away. Average hotel at best; will be looking for something else next time I visit
Review 88:Easy access to the city; free parking; easy to find / road access; good room size; good wi fi service; comfortable bed
Review 89:Run down and not clean. We were very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness. Hotel needs to be refurbished.
Review 90:Very easy taccess to NYC. Bus stop was right across the street. Travel time to the Port Authority was about 15 minutes. Staff was very friendly.
Review 91:Very courteous staff, always ready to help with smiling faces! Very Good location! Good cleanliness! Decent breakfast. Tea and coffee available round the clock!
Review 92:very good location few steps from direct to times squre great free breakfast great staff large rooms high cleanness close to restaurants and cafes free wifi free parking flew less for us
Review 93:That room service doesn't vacuum clean your room when they clean and sometimes don't take out the trash.
Review 94:Front desk people were very friendly and helpful. When we had a problem with the a/c right away they send someone to fix it.
Review 95:It was only across the street to catch the bus, then only a 10 minute bus ride to the basically the center of everything. Awesome location and value!! The breakfast was great also.
Review 96:My daughter & I was visiting NYC. The hotel is located in a nice area. based on the value, cleanliness, location & friendly staff I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 97:None we could think of.
Review 98:Location is excellent. Bus station is conveniently right across the hotel and 25 minutes travel time to the commercial center of Times Square and Manhattan.
Review 99:Alarm didn't work, air conditioner to loud, people in hall way to loud! Put tea in rooms for people that don't drink coffee :-)
Review 100:Comfort, Price, Staff, Location!
Review 101:Coming from Europe the breakfast is not something one is used to in a 3 star hotel. I learnt, however, that the standards for breakfast in hotels in the US is lower than Europe. Besides, we also stayed in another hotel in a different area for 3 days and that hotel was supposed to be at least a half star higher than Meadowlands River Inn but the breakfast over there was worser. So if you put that into perspective i would say it was not that bad afterall.
Review 102:We chose this hotel due to all the wonderful reviews. To say the hotel met my expectations is an understatement. We experienced the high quality customer service the moment we arrived. Actually, we missed our flight due to the fault of Swiss Air and reported to the hotel a day later. Initially we had booked for 5 days and was honestly prepared to pay for the 5 days because we knew our not coming on the scheduled day was not the fault of theirs. To my amazement and pleasant surprise, instead of the 5 days the hotel chose to let us pay for only 4 days although it was no fault of theirs that we had missed our flight. We also noticed they acted so friendly to the extent that the nightmare we had a day earlier for missing our flight instantly melted away.
Review 103:In a busy hour it can take more than half an hour to get to NYC. The hotel is a bit outdated, the Internet is slow and the breakfast is just basic.
Review 104:The price is right, the stuff is very friendly, the hotel is clean, the rooms are good size and the bed is comfortable. A bus to NYC port authority bus station is 1 min walk from the hotel - and when there is no trafic it takes 15 minutes.
Review 105:location is good but if you are not familiar with vicinity, it is hard to find. need directional signage.
Review 106:staff are friendly and helpful, room is clean, bed is comfortable, breakfast is good with lot of seating area, regular bus 320 going to city, restaurants nearby, parking space. had a great time.
Review 107:Very convenient if using Newark Airport. But expensive to Taxi to JFK or La Guardia. Better to stay on the other side of the city in that case. Bus service to the city was excellent and a good price. Staff explained it all to us.
Review 108:The place was hard to find. 250 is not displayed but check for the address 300 which is just the building beside.
Review 109:Microwave, refrigerator, hair drawyer, comfortable bed, cleanliness, parking, courteous staff. Wi-Fi ok. Complete breakfast-buffet with vegetarian option. Bus 320 close to the hotel, frequent passages, 15 minutes to Manhattan. We'll come back.
Review 110:Room service will not come if you asked them over the phone, you need to talk to them at the reception to get service. Seemed like they were short on staff.
Review 111:The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. There are many restaurants and shops around the area. And the bus to Manhattan is right in front of the hotel. The staff is pretty helpful in giving us map and bus timeline of Manhattan. The self serve free breakfast was pretty good too.
Review 112:extremely convenient if you intend to go to the busy Manhattan as there is a bus just in front of the hotel. Clean and comfortable bed. Great laundry facilities.
Review 113:Air Conditioner was very noisey. I had to turn it off during the night
Review 114:Very comfortable bed/linens/sheets. Room was very clean. Great location and great breakfast in the AM. Good coffee to in the room.
Review 115:The hotel has old and tired décor and needs updating. A lower end budget hotel that doesn't tempt me to come back. I think there are much better options in the vicinity for a few dollars more.
Review 116:A budget hotel that includes a basic breakfast, internet and free parking. It's cheap and cheerful if you are on a tight budget.
Review 117:The staff was exceptionally helpful, informative, friendly and knowledgeable about travel information, public transportation and pretty much everything, including restaurant recommendation s. The rooms were clean, bed was very comfortable, I slept very well.
Review 118:dining room crowded, beds too soft and water pressure in shower is suboptimal. hotel needs to be refreshed-feels old.
Review 119:good location and staff are nice.
Review 120:The water was lukewarm at best in the evenings and mornings (seemed like everyone one else was using it at this time also?)
Review 121:Bed was super comfy. Breakfast was nice. Convenient location. Lots of restaurants
Review 122:The fruits for breakfast were not available each day during our stay.
Review 123:It's close to the bus stop and you can be in New York quickly. the staff was very friendly.
Review 124:Our door lock got stuck but was fixed immediately by the time we returned back to our room for the day.
Review 125:The staff was awesome. The front desk concierge named Holly was so very helpful and nice.
Review 126:- breakfast items not frequently re-stocked - blanket/duvet too warm and heavy - no hotel name on the wall (used to be part of Holiday Inn chain, old name was covered) - a bit difficult to find at first
Review 127:- LOCATION: bus stop right by the hotel --> easy access to Manhattan (4 dollars one way, time depending on traffic from 15-25 minutes) - easy and convenient, frequent - also savory alternatives at breakfast - quiet hotel, stores and restaurants near-by - friendly staff - We would definitely stay here again.
Review 128:Poor breakfast Breakfast area too small for number of guests Clock in room gets interference from cellphones and wakes us up
Review 129:Good location Lots of parking Free wifi Nice staff
