Reviews for Stone Villa Inn

Review 1:Floor was not vacuumed, smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag, a receptacle was off the wall and wall paper coming off.

Review 2:Comfortable bed, nice TV, work desk, not to noisy, mic & ref.

Review 3:Staff wasn't helpful at all! When we were checking in my dad, who has dificulties in walking, needed to use the restroom urgently but the attendent said he couldn't use the one at the reception and gave us the last room in the hall! At the breafast, there were no milk, no juice and one side of the coffee machine was broken... Just when another guest compleined the staff came and replaced the empties jars to another with just half. I won't recommend this place!

Review 4:Staff at the front disk. Not thorough with direction to the room at check in. Poor breakfast. No facilities. It is Motel really.

Review 5:Good location for the money.

Review 6:The staff like most hindu were sub stanard One staff handle food with his hand and lied about throwing it away unless the fridge doubles as a trash can

Review 7:Everything, rooms dirty, wallpaper peeling off, furniture damaged, the desk blocks access to the closet; street noise is terrible, the only plus is location, but there are several choices neaby...I have spent my professional life travelling, when working (I am now retired) i put on 150,000++/year in airplanes all over the world, this is by far the worst hotel i have ever used, period...stay anywhere else.

Review 8:Absolutely nothing, this hotel would have to improve to be called a slum! I am disputing the credit card charge I used to pay for the room...the pictures they used are not an accurate representation of the room. Also, I got a virus from their wifi network!

Review 9:The was a lighter and half a blunt left in the room. The windown was still open and we arrived late at 10pm. So the window open let in all the cold air and froze the room up. Im assuming the cleaning crew was the one smoking since everything was cleaned up. Unless they just missed the blunt and the open window and terrible smell of weed. Linens smell of bleach and mattress is unconfortable.

Review 10:Decent sized rooms and close to downtown san mateo.

Review 11:Rooms are kind of dirty. During the night there was an ongoing unbearable LOUD noise coming from the other side of the wall. It sounded like they were making cars. I called the desk at 1am to ask for another room. It was something to do with the pipes. Could not sleep.

Review 12:The location was fine. Close to where I was working. Parking was a plus.

Review 13:room cleaning not done for continuing guests until 3:00-4:00. Was in area for ongoing medical procedures and needed to nap, even after explaining my needs the room wasn't cleaned while I was gone.

Review 14:Clean...good wi-fi (free)...breakfast available, juice, rolls, waffles, cereal, coffee.

Review 15:The small bathroom sink had 4 cigatette burns in it and the tv was almost unintelligible. I asked for a Japanese restaurant and they pointed me to a couple of mediocre Chinese restaurants across the street. After 165.00 a night, I had hoped for more accurate help

Review 16:Off road security was good

Review 17:the room does not lights, it is not bright in the main room. the upstairs kept making sounds, could not fall asleep almost the whole night. if there are customers checked in during the night, could u mention to quiet?

Review 18:I requested a King Size bed, and it was on my conformation. I was told I was getting a upgrade of two beds. The beds were like sleeping on hard rocks, very poor. Wall paper was coming off the walls, The breakfast was a joke. Never again, and the price per night was way too much, for what you received.

Review 19:The location was good

Review 20:This is like an abandoned hotel. Wifi still not working to any useable level months others after complaints. Facilities shabby and often broken. I stayed there as a last resort as everywhere else was booked... will find another last resort next time should I need to as this was also cripplingy expensive costing way more than four night in a lovelly AirBnB in the same area.

Review 21:Can't think of anything apart from the overworked reception guy who at least tried... a bit.

Review 22:Room needs a renovation with new furniture, and the bathroom needs a good scrubbing, especially in the shower.

Review 23:The bed was comfortable, and the towels were good.

Review 24:$225 a night for a dump! I immediately checked in at the office which smelled like takeout food. My room was filled with beat up old furniture. Place smelled smoky and musty. Grounds were run down and looked like they needed maintenance. If it was $100 I would understand however they have no business asking their going rate.

Review 25:The bathroom was clean

Review 26:The site shows some wear and tear. The breakfast was tasty but very limited.

Review 27:The staff were very nice and accommodating, and the location was very convenient for our needs. We walked to dinner and felt safe in the neighborhood. The room was comfortable enough to rest for the next day's work.

Review 28:Really unpleasant and unprofessional staff, that make the whole experience completely horrible from the start.

Review 29:The location was the best thing about this place

Review 30:Could not connect to wifi from the room, had to eventually establish connection at the front desk which dropped out again a couple of times from usage near the front office. Rooms quite tired, dated furniture and unfortunately one of the hand towel was dirty. No coffee machine.

Review 31:Large Comfy Bed and a good location to SF airport.

Review 32:The beds were extremely hard, the bathroom extremely small, lots of useable space in the closet to enable larger bathroom. The continental breakfast opening at 7am is way too late, needs to open at 6am, or have coffee available on premises by 6am.

Review 33:The location was good and close to our company training. The staff was courteous and helpful. The price per room for the region was competitive .

Review 34:Pretty much everything. The rug was ripped, dirty and had a bad smell. The bathroom door wouldn't shut. There was no T.P. holder in thebath. Air conditioner was loud. Bed and furniture was held up by plywood. Fridge didn't work. Light bulbs were broken and overalllighting was poor. There were tangles of wires leading to the outlets.Staff was unhelpful.(Taco Bell was recommended for dining) Parking lotwasn't secure. Breakfast was poor with the worst coffee I'veever had. Wall paper was lumpy. Way too expensive for what we got. There was a sign at the front desk refusing refunds after you enteredthe room. We should have left but were too tired from a very long dayof travel.

Review 35:Bed was ok

Review 36:Really poor wi-fi. They should not even mentiion they have it since it has no capacity at all. Really poor clearing with dirty towels in the bathroom. Poor service - it could help with an education in becoming more serviceminded! The beds were like sleeping on the floor.

Review 37:A lot of squeaking floors above us. We we're at the bottom floor. You can hear & will wake up when guests upstairs walk.

Review 38:Really close to the San Mateo Convention Event, lots of restaurants & to the Hillsdale Shopping Center.

Review 39:No "Do Not Disturb" sign. No "Make Up Room" sign--Housekeeping staff kept trying to come in even though door was double bolted. Had to stick couch over the door to block them from trying more! Pictures are well taken, hotel is shabby.

Review 40:Nothing much. The price was the attraction. Also it is conveniently located if you need to be close to downtown San Mateo.

Review 41:staff never cleaned the room. The bed was not comfortable.leaves blew in everyday underneath the door.very noisy all night.breakfast was old and stale.just very poor overall. will never stay there again.

Review 42:location

Review 43:Nothing. Breakfeast is not deluxe at all, very basic. Wifi does work for an average of 1 minute during all day. Furniture and devices in room old or broken. Bathroom awfull. Not clean properly.

Review 44:Receptionist has been flexible in terms of changing the booking of the room and suggesting the route to San Francisco

Review 45:Awful wifi. I'll try to told stuff that's annoying. As I get it, they use windows machine as router instead of buying some good one. Ignorance stuff — my hairdryer and lamp tube under the mirror at bathroom didn't work. I've told them about that. Zero activity. No coffee machine. New plastic cups appeared after two days they gone. Soap showed up after three days.

Review 46:Location is well. Clean and cheap.

Review 47:I have never been in a room that was as dirty as this one. All the bathroom towels had other people's hair. The wifi did not work. The frame did not fit the bed. The fridge leaked. There was filth behind the bed and fridge.

Review 48:Leaving!

Review 49:Quiet, clean, pleasant staff. The young man who checked me in was a friendly, courteous, and efficient desk receptionist. He had our room cleaned & prepared for us within a very short time. The breakfast is tasty & as they say, THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM! don't U know?

Review 50:Way to expensive for facilities like that! Not very comfy, wouse keeping could have be much better, breakfast was no big deal, staff wasn't unfriendly just very serviceminded.

Review 51:They charged us more once we arrived and didn't give us the 2 beds that was reflected on the bill. They said Booking.com changed the rate since we made the reservation and since it was the only option left at that time of night, I was forced to overpay $22.40 for less accommodations. Quoted for 2 nights:$246.38 Visa Bill:$268.78

Review 52:Located close to event I was attending

Review 53:WiFi band-width terrible, practically unusable. Breakfast starts at 7:00. If your event starts at 7:00, as ours did, you'll get no sympathy or help from the staff.

Review 54:Close to San Mateo Event Center. Good sized rooms. Clean property.

Review 55:Friendly staff, clean rooms, easy access to local restaurants and entertainment. Safe neighborhood. They answered all of our questions promptly and courteously. We could not be happier about our stay. Will return next year!

Review 56:The bed was very hard. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The walls are not well insulated so noise from the rooms above and to the side of us kept waking me up.

Review 57:It was nice to have a microwave and refrigerator. The bedding was clean. There was nothing overwhelmingly positive or negative. It was fine for a night.

Review 58:It was great, it's a well used hotel, a little touch up here and there and it'll be perfect

Review 59:Nothing was too much for the reception staff. It was a pleasant stay we had plenty of rest.

Review 60:• There is only one car allowed per room due to the lack of available parking space. • Beds was extremely hard, I like soft beds so my back was hurting in the morning. • Comforter was so thin it might as have been a sheet.

Review 61:• The staff was very nice and respectful. • Room was very very clean, they have a 2 staff maid service and an attached Laundry room, so your bed spread and sheets will always will be clean! • Room was very modern and colorful, and was right next door to some great vietmanise restaurants!

Review 62:Carpets worn and need cleaning. No counter space in bathroom. Breakfast very limited.... coffee weak.

Review 63:Good Value if you book in advance. Close to San Mateo Convention Center.

Review 64:We came in late at night so we could not see it was filthy. Bad carpet, bathroom unclean and we didn't even have towels. Then we complained to the management and they understood. However we don't know why they rented out that room.

Review 65:Nothing really

Review 66:The rooms were small and so dark with an small bathroom. The breakfast was very bad. The hotel didn't have elevator. The price was too high for such hotel with no facilities.

Review 67:Nothing!

Review 68:The bed was like sleeping on a rock and the bathroom and shower doors did not close. We were given 2 towel for 4 people and told they did not have any extra.

Review 69:We were please with the location of the Inn, and overall it was clean.

Review 70:THE BED IS LIKE SLEEPING ON CONCRETE. We asked on the second night to have a room change to a softer bed. We were told no. Most miserable nights I spent did not sleep at all first night. Second night we borrow a futon mattress from our sons apartment and drug it into the room so we could sleep. Breakfast is poor. Watched them put food back in frig that had sat out all morning. Bagels, bread and muffins all dried out put uncover into the frig.

Review 71:Good location for visiting with family

Review 72:WOOD CORNERS OF BED FRAME. THEY ARE A KNEE OR ANKLE BRUISE IN THE MAKING

Review 73:COMFORTABLE BED AND ACCESS TO MY SON'S RESIDENCE ON HOBART. WALKED TO DINNER AND BREAKFAST

Review 74:Toilet bowl leaked water all night so made noise and had to close door just to sleep. Not sure if owners will fix or not. They appeared not to understand how it affects customers since the great location made for a full house!

Review 75:Close to freeways and restaurants, lots of foot traffic in neighborhood, felt safe even at night.

Review 76:Got to San mateo @ 8pm. Kinda late to find a room. Especially in the Bay Area. Looked up hotels on Google, had a price for one bed. Called to reserve they gave a higher price. Went to bookings.com, via Google, and got the better price. Kinda felt like they were taking advantage of the situation. Also found a happy meal, with half ate food in the microwave.

Review 77:Location and the overall cleanliness of the room (despite the leftover happy meal in the microwave).

Review 78:The reception desk is awful, somebody should teach those guys some manners regarding how to handle the customers. Plus, the housekeeping forgot to put new towels in one of the days.

Review 79:The location is really good, and the parking was nice

Review 80:- No remote for television upon arrival, we had to ask. Couldn't get Apple TV to connect to wifi. - Our toilet had issues flushing, we weren't given the opportunity for a different room, just advised to hold the toilet handle for up to 60 seconds. (What?!) - Place was clean, but we could hear literally every footstep the people above us made.

Review 81:- Convenient location

Review 82:The room on the outside looks nice and pretty, but once you get comfortable in the room, you realize that it's not all that nice and pretty. First off, the beds were rock hard. So uncomfortable. The mattresses were too small for the frame so we kept hitting our toes on the end of the frame. Not fun. The bathroom was clean, but was missing the toilet paper roll holder. Kind of tacky, especially paying the price we did. Then my husband was working late, so I checked in before him. I let them know that my husband was going to be coming in later that night and the lady told me that was no problem and he could get a second room key. When my husband showed up to get his room key, the gentleman that was working refused to give him one, because they had already given me one. Ridiculous. Since when do hotels only give out one key... And furthermore, why tell someone it was OK, only to have them hassled in the end. And finally, the Wi-Fi was horrible and sucked. I tried calling about it, and they basically said it was my problem and that there was nothing they could do.

Review 83:I liked that it had a nice walk in closet and a decent sized fridge. Honestly, that's about it.

Review 84:Rude customer service Broken shower handel Stale cereal Nor enough towels for guetsts Dirty sheets Room smelt like cannibis Hard beds

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:There isn't anything I would change.

Review 87:The Mgr and staff went above and beyond to assure my stay was perfect. The Room was elegant, cozy and bed extremely comfortable. I felt safe and secure at this location. I will return to this property in the future.

Review 88:Have to ask for the room to be cleaned often time, bed linen is not great and TV channels are limited.

Review 89:lowest price in San Mateo I'd wager. Great location but be careful exiting on El Cameo when traffic is heavy

Review 90:No coffee maker in the room. Breakfast is so-so, although typical for this kind of accommodations. Room was strongly smelling cigarettes. Motel was full so I couldn't change room but staff provided me with bottle of air freshener. In my opinion, Booking.com overrated this place with 3 stars. More like a 2 stars motel 6 or super 8 motel. But it's a good place to stay on night when on-the-go of if everywhere else is sold out. Not for business travelers, though. If you find it pricy, it's unfortunately the case for every nearby san francisco airport.

Review 91:There are plenty of restaurants walking distance and shopping mall 15 minutes walk. Nice to have fridge and microwave in the room. Although it's on a busy avenue, rooms are well protected from noise.

Review 92:The bed was hard as a rock

Review 93:*Room was clean and newly renovated. *close to San Francisco and the airport * our flight got in very late- there was no problem checking in at 2am

Review 94:no clock,no radio, stained towels, very small room, all for 100 bucks a night. Dirty walkways, dirty stairs and handrails, bathroom sink would not drain, told office about, they did nothing.

Review 95:not much, would never stay again.

Review 96:The staff is not very friendly (very agitated when inquiring about local near by facilities such as restaurants, transportation to and from San Francisco, bank/atm etc.) The beds were slumped, the bed frame is way to big for the mattresses and the carpeting smells like smoke and very dirty. The vending machines were broken and their no sign of indication that's its out of order and motel is not willing to refund money if the vending machine eats your money.

Review 97:The area of the motel is surrounded by a bunch of restaurants, transportation and other basic facilities what a tourist or guest is looking for. The wifi runs kind of slow. Breakfast is basic!

Review 98:There were no tea/coffee making appliances in the room. That nice photo of a bag of Ghiradeli on the bed is a lie. Although housekeeping was daily, all that they really did was make the bed and empty the bin. There was no dusting of surfaces and no cleaning of the sink/shower. They did not replace towels which were deliberately left on the floor but instead put them back on the rail. They even gave me a towel with holes in it. I spoke to reception to complain and the towel problem was rectified, but the room remained dusty throughout my stay.

Review 99:The motel is on a busy road, but for the most part, is quiet throughout the day and night. Check in was quick and easy at the front desk. The room was big enough that I was comfortable for the nine days I was there. Room comes with both a microwave and a fridge. The free wifi was both important to me and reliable. It's a 90 second walk from a 24 hour diner, a five minute walk from Starbucks and a fifteen minute walk to the nearest Caltrain station.

Review 100:Probably would not suggest to anyone to stay there. Too many things to mention that need improvement.

Review 101:This was an inexpensive place to stay. We had a faulty shower. The room did not accommodate two people. The breakfast was fair.

Review 102:wifi didnt work well from room had problems with door key system not working (they needed a battery change)

Review 103:good location outside s.f. near shopping mall near highways near many restaurants front desk: lady was very friendly but the man was grumpy (took a lot to get a smile out of him)

Review 104:Trains early in the morning Some broken tile in the shower Hard to approach from El Camino

Review 105:Nicely remodeled Clean Great value with booking.com offer Not fancy but just fine inside Excellent location Friendly staff Housekeeping came every day Good cable TV, nice showers

Review 106:Bed mattress felt like a brick. The worst mattress in my life. Bad smell of must or mildew in the room. Shower water ran out too hard and doesn't adjust. A/C did not work. Front desk had an elderly man who couldn't speak English.

Review 107:Room looks nice.

Review 108:Room smelled like cigarettes Room had a leak in the closet from the roof Chair was broken had no back leg connected hurt my back Furniture was scratched and dirty Room smelled like mold most likely from the leak in the closet Room #226 Tried speaking to the manager but got what I belbelieve to be his father. Conversation went nowhere

Review 109:Price and location was about it. Even the price was high for what I got

Review 110:Bed end table light fixture did not work - reported 1st day and staff still did not fix for 2nd day. (Inattentive). Room bathroom sink cups were not provided. Had to ask. (Again - inattentive)

Review 111:Shower was excellent-very good control knobs and water stream.

Review 112:Breakfast is minimal, the room is clean, however has very cheap and old furniture. The bathroom is decent, nothing spectacular. Too expensive for the conditions they offer.

Review 113:The location is good, close to the train station and mall. Easy commute to San Francisco.

Review 114:As I said, the bed and the frame were incorrect sizes for each other. The television service was not great, and there was no directory. I don't know if the poor service was the hotel's fault for the cable company's fault.

Review 115:I just needed a place near the airport to stay for one night. The place is been remodeled and the bed was fairly comfortable. The only thing was that the wrong size king mattress and box spring was on the king size frame so there was extra wooden frame, about 8 inches, at the foot of the bed. None of this is affected my sleep, I arrived late spent the night and went early in the morning to the airport so for my purposes it was fine.

Review 116:Don't be fooled this is a renovated Motel. It has Flinston style beds, made of granite. I didn't know that a bed could get this hard. Not just me, I was there with a group and everyone had the same complaint. Rooms are noisy with the parking lot right outside the front door, and you can hear anyone walking above you. The motel is also close to the train tracks. You know its not good when the San Mateo police cruise through the gated parking lot a couple times a night.

Review 117:The motel is conveniently located close to the San Mateo Event Center.

Review 118:This place was disappointing at best. Not even the paint job can make up for the motel exterior and interior. For the hour I stayed in the room before deciding to check out and move somewhere that felt safer, I heard every noise through the paper thin walls. The bathroom was gross and the room in general felt old, worn, and dirty. I didn't feel safe staying here.

Review 119:very low water pressure in the shower and the bed was extra extra firm felt like sleeping on plywood, there was NO give in the bed. had hard time sleeping all night and 3 days later my hips still hurt from it.

Review 120:hotel had been recently remodeled it was very beautiful, the chair in the room was comfortable. the shower was new very nice.

Review 121:The room was poorly maintained & sub-standard. The carpet was frayed & dirty; the towel rack was loose & likely would have fallen had we tugged too hard getting the towel; and the covering material (not paint) of the particle-board vanity was peeling off in big chunks.

Review 122:The hotel exterior was attractive & fairly well maintained.

Review 123:Got bite by mosquitos more than one spot. After 3 hours staying I planned to leave the place and the manager only offers 25bucks refund and I was so angry . End up he refund me half for staying 3hours and I got bit by bugs . Today still very itchy

Review 124:-room was not so great. The shower floors were sticky and had one tiny thin bar of soap; shampoo in a small packet. -continential breakfast was not good -was not worth 154 dollars for one night.

Review 125:I liked that it was close to the event center.

Review 126:Bathroom has no where to set your stuff. Sink small and no counter. Breakfast coffee horrible, no flavor creamers or sweet n low. Breakfast room was very hot and no one to help.

Review 127:Ceiling Fan in Bath much, much to loud. I think fan size was improper. Not enough counter space in bathroom. You have the spec, put a small table in there. Towels were too cheap. Light bulbs to low wattage.

Review 128:Bed was very comfortable Windows were nice Clean Parking close by Good location Ice machine nearby Large TV

Review 129:- staff hardly speak English - breakfast included? I don't think that coffee, pancakes and milk with cornflakes is something I can call breakfast included. - room service only if You ask them to do something, If You don't, nobody do anything - almost everything else in this hotel

Review 130:- wifi included, but this is currently standard

Review 131:The room was dark, with very little lighting. There was absolutely no counter space in the bathroom and there were no drawers anywhere. The lobby was ugly and smelled like food. The breakfast was cold and tasteless. I would never stay there again.

Review 132:The one redeeming feature of the room was the large walk-in closet.

Review 133:The staff have appalling manor. The girl checking us in was extremely rude and just threw pages in front of us to sign with absolutely no information about the rooms or location. We ordered a taxi to collect us for our morning flight and was told it would be ordered at 8.30. The taxi never turned up (it was never booked) and the hotel done very little to try and help, they tried to pass the blame on the fact that they fid not own the taxi company?! We had to wait until 9.20 to get a taxi and the man we dealt with at reception was extremely rude. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 134:The location was ok as we were visiting family in San Mateo, but glad we only had to stay one night!

Review 135:Staff very kind

Review 136:Outdated

Review 137:Location & cleanliness

Review 138:mattresses were rock hard or it could have been the bed springs

Review 139:spacious room with refrigerator and microwave convenience
