Review 1：Perfect location in Cat Ba Town. Great views even from rooms at the back of the hotel. Beautiful views from the rooftop deck. Room was spacious, clean, and had hot water with good pressure on the 9th floor. Mattresses are firm, which we liked. Small elevator was welcome over the stairs. Definitely recommend!

Review 2：We liked everything. The lady who owns it is super nice and very kind and helpful with everything. She organized us bus for better price than somebody else and also rented us a motorbike for the cheapest price there. She also cooks pretty good. We can truly recommend this place!

Review 4：Lovely staff- it is family run and all members were helpful and friendly and very welcoming. Gave good advice on activities. Room was basic but comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Ac worked well. Bathroom was big and clean. Tour we booked through them was good and the same price as everyone paid. View of the bay from the room. Overall excellent value for money.

Review 7：The room smelled really bad. Like people smoked in there before. It was a mix of smoke and a moldy smell. After two days our clothes started to smell like it. Gave them laundry, it came back as dirty as it was before. Ants accompanied us throuought the night. One bed was crooked so you rolled over to the other side.

Review 9：This was our first hotel in Asia as cheap as 10 USD per night, so we weren't sure what to expect. Now, a month later, with more experience of Asia, I can say for sure that this is the worst place we've stayed in. I wouldn't stay there again for free. Firstly, the room was painted with this mint green color, that made me slightly nauseus in combination with the sterile lamps. This seems to be not uncommon in Asia so maybe it's a cultural thing. Secondly, there was a bad smell in the room, which we aÄt old the owner about when we went out the first afternoon. The owner didn't look surprised, but said they'd fix it. I asked specifically if he would be around when we came back, and he said he was always there. Yeah right! He wasn't there in the evening and not in the morning after. And the staff didn't speak English. So when we realized that the smell came from the fact that our toilet back flushed dirty water into our bathroom we couldn't tell anyone about it. It was disgusting when we realized that the water on the bathroom floor actually came from the toilet. Thirdly, we thought we'd have a good view over the water. But the way that the room is designed you can't see anything from your bed. It's impossible to move the curtains, so only when you squeeze yourself into a corner and peek behind the curtain you can see the water.

Review 12：Breakfast was not included with our stay, but very inexpensive and good. Ba's wife cooks, and the lunch/dinner options in her restaurant are great as well! AC worked like a charm, and the view of the bay outside our window was amazing. Perfect location, and Ba will set you up with whatever you want to do! Take his boat tour - it's amazing; he will also rent you motor bike for a good price, and will tell you all about the island. Clean rooms, warm water from the shower head in the bathroom. Couldn't ask for more for the price. Stay here!! You won't be disappointed.

Review 14：The staff were welcoming and helpful. We shared a free beer with them and they helped us book our bus from Hanoi to Sapa via the Pineapple Hotel, which worked out perfectly. Beautiful view overlooking the pier.

Review 21：Bathroom (like many in Vietnam) has the shower in the same space as the toilet, which is a bit weird for westerners. There's a bit of mould in the room high up, and you need to be fit to climb the stairs!

Review 22：Owners were lovely and helpful, the tours we booked through them were cheaper than others we saw advertised around town, and they were great! Breakfast was good and they did laundry for us too.

Review 23：We were on the 6th floor, with no lift. We r young & fit so we didn't mind too much, was a bit annoying if u left the room & had forgotten something to have to climb the stairs again. But we felt it was a good work out. The shower in the bathroom was between the toilet & sink so was a bit weird, but kind of what u expect in an asian bathroom!

Review 24：We were greeted by a very friendly young lady, who gave us a map of the island & wifi password. We were able to rent mopeds with no hassle directly from the hotel. They also organised tour lanna bay, but we didn't do them as we wanted to chill by the beach! They did laundry for a very reasonable price. We were recommended Ali Ba Ba's by another couple we met when we were travelling! We were delighted with the price & service, we didn't eat there but food looked good. Our room was fine, good size & had a extra bed which we didnt use apart from laying out our stuff.

Review 26：Ran by an amazing, friendly family who really make you feel at home. We rented an excellent motorbike and explored the island, all hassle free. They run a boat trip for $20 a person which includes kayaking in Ha long bay, the trip is superb, really chilled out with a great lunch. Overall a lovely stay.

Review 27：Location was great and if you get a room at the front you will have a great view of the bay. This is a serious budget value hotel so it's very basic. You get what you pay for. We understood this and we're happy to stay for four nights. The family who run the hotel are very friendly and helpful.

Review 28：The beds are hard but it's like everywhere in Vietnam. The room is a bit damp so it might smell also. We were on the 6th floor and there was no elevator but you cannot expect that when you pay such price.

Review 29：We arrived very early in the morning and the owner let us check in so we could get some rest. The room is quite good for the price we paid, and there is a nice view. We took a Ha Long bay tour through the hotel for 20 USD w, except wnice which was good, except when the boat captain tried to make us pay to reach Monkey island with a small boat because we didn't want to swim. Fortunately, we got luck the owner was around this day, he discussed with the guy and finally we didn't pay additional fees. We were around 20 people for the excursion but it was a big boat and we didn't see any other boats.

Review 30：We booked for 1 night, but stayed for 3 nights. The owner,mr Ba, made our stay worthwhile. Always happy to see you, always offering help. He owns his own boat on which we did a daytour on ha long bay. We can highly recommend this. He also has his own scooter which you can rent. At checkout he offered have lunch with his family. Haven't met a nicer person in Vietnam. Would definitely go back to Alibaba's if we have a chance. For the price you pay, don't expect your room to be cleaned everyday etc.

Review 31：It was our second time staying at Alibaba's and we enjoyed it a lot. The owners even remembered us from last year. The place is clean, relaxing and it has great food and location.

Review 33：Very good location, 15mn walk from pub street and 5km to Angkor wat. The hotel is renting bikes for 1$ /day. The staff is very helpful and speak english, the owner is French and very welcoming.

Review 34：If I really have to say something here ill say that the WiFi was bit come and go, but it was really no problem.

Review 35：The owner and the staff were willing to go the extra mile with regards to everything. Eg. accommodation, day trip to Ha Long Bay, motorbike rental, bus trip back to Hanoi, breakfast. Our motorbike got a flat tire, and he was there within 5 min to fix it and give us a new bike for the day. We had to cut our day tip in Ha Long Bay short and he organized a small boat to pick us up halfway through the trip to take us back to the bus to get to Hanoi. Service was more than excellent, will recommend this place to everyone. The room was clean and very neat with an amazing view.

Review 43：This was such a great place. Mr Ba the owner was the nicest most helpful person we had the pleasure of meeting during 5 weeks in Vietnam. The hotel is right on the water and is clean and cheap. We also did his day your of Lan Ha Bay which was awesome, I liked it more than out 2 night tour of Halong Bay. Mr Ba is a seriously cool dude. Keep in mind the hotel is pretty cheap, you'll have to request new towels and don't expect your room to be cleaned everyday but Mr Ba is always more than happy to supply anything you need.
