Reviews for The Row Hotel

Review 1:The hotel changed its name and never notified us so it was difficult to find. There were no washcloths or hand towels in the room and the night desk attendant couldn't find any. I had to go down to the parking lot to find the ice machine.

Review 2:Fine breakfast included

Review 3:Beautifully remodelled. Modern, clean design. Excellent downtown location. Close to Santana Row and Valley Fair Mall. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

Review 4:under new management hard to get to hotel via freeway-280 (unless you take the San Carlos exit) no noticeable address number on awning room still had the new paint smell in-room ac/heater

Review 5:centrally located, near Westfield Mall comfortable bed nice looking trees if your room is in the back adequate breakfast; no waffles/no pancakes

Review 6:I had the worst experience here. When we checked into the room, the TV wouldn't turn on so I called the front desk. The gentleman there said he would send over the TV Repairman. 10 minutes later, he shows up, looks at the TV for about 5 minutes and can't figure out what was wrong. He said to us he would speak with the person at the front desk to see if he could get us a different room. After he left, 10 minutes passed and we heard nothing. I called the front desk again and asked if they were going to get us another room. He told me that many rooms were experiencing this problem and it had something to do with their tv service. He said he would notify me as soon as it was fixed. At this point about 45 minutes had passed and I was pretty much done. So I told him I wanted a refund and to check out. He said he would have to check with his general manager. A couple minutes later I get a call from the general manager saying she would take a look at the TV. She said it might be a loose cable. That was odd to me since the other gentleman said something completely different. So I told her that I was told this was happening in a bunch of different rooms and she said she didn't think so. She came to our room, plugged in a loose cable, and fixed it in less than a minute. She was really sweet and the only person that gave me any type of good service in this awful place. Also, I opened a drawer and found a cup of water with cigarette butts in it. Disgusting. In the morning, there is construction going on starting at 8. I couldn't sleep that well so I called asking if I would be able to check out at 12 instead of their normal check out time at 11. They said I can but it would be an extra $10. It was kind of the final straw for me. I will never come back to this place.

Review 7:The General Manager here is sweet and a very nice person. She's one of the only people here that seemed to care.

Review 8:No robes. Had to switch rooms twice due to things not working in the room. Had to ask for wifi password. All the rooms on the 3rd floor face Stephens Creek, so don't stay on that floor if you are a light sleeper.

Review 9:Jacuzzi tub was great. Room overall was pretty nice. Parking right under the building was pretty cool.

Review 10:Slightly noisy, as it is by the roadsize. It could be a concern if you are light sleeper. It changed name, and we could not locate it when we first followed GPS.

Review 11:It is comfortable hotel, though it is not big and it is under construction. We enjoyed our stay and breakfast. Stayed in 2 different rooms throughout the trip, 1 of it is having jagucci, so great, but too bad, do not try it ;)

Review 12:The hotel is under serious renovation. Our friends had to switch roomssince the first one was not ready for occupancy. There were items thatdidn't function properly, the inside of the windows were filthy. Thebreakfast was very slight and horrible. There was construction going onbetween 6 A.M. and 6 P.M. throughout the hotel, with plastic sheetscovering hallways. At one point we did not have television service sinceall of it has been turned off, and new cable boxes laying in thehallway. There was a drunken person yelling in the hallways. Thelocation is a little scary since there are massage parlors next to, andacross the street from this hotel. The floors in the elevator, werefilthy and the date on the elevator safety check was due last month. This hotel was not ready for proper occupancy, especially consideringthe situation and how much they charge. Now that I've gotten home, Ifound this hotel trying to charge my credit card for a room that waspaid for. I've had to tell my bank to research it. I've had tocall them and ask her what's going on, since they were paid and sixpeople watched it take place. I can not use a site, in this case,booking.com that does not represent properties in an honest manner. Iwould have been better off and a motel 6. Needless to say, I was thereto lay my daughter to rest. None of this was disclosed to us whenbooking. It even had a different name on the hotel.

Review 13:Room size

Review 14:The only thing I didn't like was the smell, it smelled funky, not sure how to describe it. Kinda like bleach? But i hope you guys start using fabric softener!

Review 15:It was nothing like what the reviews said. I was hesitant at first but this place was amazing! And staff there were wonderful!

Review 16:You should be able to get HBO PPV fights and other sports as an option. That would be cool!

Review 17:I like the area of this hotel. The hotel looks very nice. The remodeling is going to be a success.

Review 18:While the hotel has good facilities. It is bit far away from the downtown area Having a car is a good idea.

Review 19:Hotel was under renovation but the work looks to be almost finished. There weren't any noise or construction issues. The location was good and we would stay there again.

Review 20:Was not advised hotel was in the process of changing the name...kind of important! Nothing was on the website about renos. The cost of rooms should have been lowered during this time due to water being shut off from 12-3 pm.

Review 21:The beds were comfy, breakfast was ok, large jacuzzi tubs, located a bit out of the way from downtown.

Review 22:Seemed like it wasn't quite ready for guests.... No Kleenex, no towel racks in shower area, no place for soap or shampoo in shower (except on floor), shower doors were put in backwards so they didn't move well, shower wasn't even properly attached- and it wasn't sealed on the wall - you will end up with water damage down your walls if you don't finish it properly, pillows were very hard, lamps by bed didn't have light bulbs...

Review 23:Liked free parking and it was close to our Friday night dinner

Review 24:My room was at the front of the hotel and the noise from the street was very loud. If I book there again, I will ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Review 25:The room was clean and well appointed.

Review 26:The hotel web site advertised refrigerators in each room. We didn't have one and this was a problem. There is no place for the soap and shampoo bottles in the shower which is awkward.

Review 27:The breakfast was very good. The room was pleasant and clean. The room faced the street, but except for two inconsiderate drivers the traffic noise wasn't too noticeable. There are 4 PBS TV channels available! Super! Some hotels don't even offer one.

Review 28:The WiFi was horrible, and our fridge was broken in the room and the only solution the front desk gal had was for us to change rooms which we had already been there for one night and leaving the next day so we didn't see the point so we had to toss the food we did bring

Review 29:The location was perfect! And the room was very nice for the price! And the free breakfast was amazing!!

Review 30:Probably windows need to be a little more sound proof.

Review 31:Breakfast was good, not a fancy one, but with multiple options to choose. Clean room and early check-in was provided, which was cool. Property going through renovation process but it didn't bother at all. I hope that after renovations it will be even better.

Review 32:*Building work on hotel not advertised *Arrived, and there was no running water for a few hours. *No waffle mix despite having waffle-maker available - staff didn't seem to know why *Musty smelling room *Our TV did not work *They moved us to a room, and the only one available did not have any hot water.

Review 33:*Free parking *Free breakfast *Good location near Santana Row and Mall

Review 34:To choose this hotel, we encountered utterly terrible customer serviceand hotel management!I reserved 2 standard rooms for Sep.26~30. But when we reached there on 9/26, one of the rooms was in such a mess that we were not able to live in. Obviously they didn't clean the room after the last guests left. Since there was no more available rooms and the hotel cleaning staff was off duty, I had no other choice but to find another hotel nearby to spend the night. On 9/27~28, to our surprise, the situation was NOT getting better. I personally asked the staff to do the cleaning before left the room. But shockingly, she just ignored my requirement and during the 2 days one of the rooms NEVER get cleaned. And Till now, my credit card still didn't received the chargeback although they promised to refund the room rate for 9/26. In one word, it was really the most disappointed and even horrific experiences ever. If you are putting this hotel under consideration, I highly suggest : JUST RECONSIDER PLS!

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:no hot water breakfast wasnt all that remotes to tv didnt wrk ice maker in garage. they were fixing it up. more concerned with that then there customers they had

Review 37:it was clean

Review 38:Hotel was doing major remodeling while I was there. Surrounding businesses were not desirable, massage parlors, tattoo, etc. No restaurants nearby or short safe walking distance.

Review 39:Room was clean and newly remodeled

Review 40:THE ROOM NEEDS DOUBLE WINDOWS. TOO MUCH NOISE FROM THE ROAD THE WHOLE NIGHT LONG. NOT WORTH THE MONEY PAID CONSIDERING THAT THE HOTEL WAS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS.

Review 41:The furnishings were old. TV wasn't working properly. When we checked in to our room, there were 2 thin towels for 3 people.

Review 42:Good location. Staff was nice.

Review 43:Harmless street people in the parking area. Not great for walking to good dining or shopping.

Review 44:Location, cleanliness, staff, breakfast, parking close to room, room ventilation, cooling and heating very good.

Review 45:I don't know if all the rooms were on the road but it was pretty noisy.

Review 46:It was central to everything we did. The staff was great they even printed out maps for us.

Review 47:The front: Stevens Creek rms. were plagued with street NOISE!! Replace old dual pane with new sound deadening vinyl. Not able to deadbolt door, bolt hole too shallow/hit plate. Large drawer with 1 handle very hard to open. Half of the latches on screens not holding the screen. Queen near window too close to the wall & A.C. unit. Replace unsanitary jetted tubs with 6' L 3' W not quite as deep soak tubs. Install comfort height toilet in center of space-too close to wall now. Ceiling fan wonderful initially, but could not leave it on at nite with lite off to take a pass on the A.C. Move bath lite, heat lamp & exhaust fan switches into the bathroom so one can get up early without waking the rest of the party. Replace the HOT incandescent bulbs with fluorescent around bathroom mirror. Move the cabinet away from the nice full length mirror to allow it to be useful. The cook should not be given the dirty plates at her serving counter. there should be a place near the trash containers for them to be placed so a bus person could remove them as they accumulate. Table cloths are nice if they are changed after people have eaten at the table. It would be sanitary and more efficient to have a bus person just remove any remaining items and sanitize the table after each guest departs.

Review 48:The rear/back rooms, should have a few king beds. Being away from Stevens Creek Blvd it was so peacefully quiet we were able to sleep through the nite!! The breakfast and parking accommodations.

Review 49:There a couple of things I was a littl disappointed about. The room did not have a blow dryer, iron or board and no additional roll of toilet paper.

Review 50:When we said they were undergoing renovations to the whole Hotel. With that being said, the areas that were complete looked very modern and stylish. The breakfast area and sitting areas on each floor were very roomy and comfortable. The room that we stayed looked brand new and was very comfortable. Air conditioner and fan worked very well. I loved the lighting in the ceiling, definitely brought a great ambiance.

Review 51:THE free breakfast is the worse thing and the management should not give free breakfast if there is nothing to eat. Front desk told us breakfast from 700am till 10am saturday so we went there at 915am was told no more potatoes and no more wafle mix and no more coffee and toaster no even working and only 6 slices of bread and she can make eggs and wait for coffee . terrible service

Review 52:room was clean and big

Review 53:Breakfast selection could be improved. Hotel was undergoing renovation and sometimes was loud.

Review 54:Large rooms, decent size bathroom and bathtub, iron and board in room. Breakfast included in room rate. Close to famous Santana Row street.

Review 55:My favorite was the huge bathtub. It was a nice hotel for the price. It will be very nice once the remodeling is done.Enjoyed the hot breakfast. Plenty of parking. Will stay again if I am ever in the area again.

Review 56:The place was in renovation and the after Work cleaning could have been more efficient (lot of dust on the carpet and pieces of wall on the floor.

Review 57:The people were very nice and helped us a lot.

Review 58:Its very noisy, you can here the traffiic all nigth long, booking never said they where under construction, they drilling the wall next to us at 8:30 am it was very loud and annoying. I will not stay here again

Review 59:The whole hotel is under construction. It will be beautiful when done but in the mean time ughhh! They were plastering right outside my door in the morning and sounded like they were knocking on the door.

Review 60:It was close to the airport (not walking distance)

Review 61:This property is a mess. Worst hotel I ever stayed at in the US. They advertise recently remodeled rooms but I doubt there are any. Construction goes on daily from 8-6. Looks like a year from completion.

Review 62:Close to Santana Row.

Review 63:I would like to have known they were undergoing renovations. The room had repairs to be made and the wifi was not working.

Review 64:The room included a spa-tub, we knew about; and a small kitchen we were not aware of. I loved the kitchen even though the breakfast was enough to hold us over for hours.

Review 65:Not advised of the construction. Or that the great breakfast set up with kitchen was now hot plates. My stomach was in knots after trying the eggs and soggy sausage on Sunday. 3 light bulbs burned out in 'vanity' mirror light. Towel and T.P. racks were barely attached to the wall. T.V. remote was not in synch. with TV Strong water pressure in shower, until you add hot water. Dingy, thin towels.

Review 66:Location. Doing business at the Winchester house. Free parking. Comfortable bed.

Review 67:Our room did not get made up after our first nie I don't know why maybe the chaos with the remodeling

Review 68:Location for our needs was great parking an asset

Review 69:their wifi sucked, in the room it was very spotty, had to take an IPOD into the hall to connect. Often in the room it would connect but you could not do any thing, so slow it was not worth it. The remodel has been going on for at last a year and may be done in one more..maybe. They had a card in the room saying if you wanted the sheets changed to put it on the bed, but the maids never came in to see or if they did they never did anything else like take out the trash. And why do rent rooms to 4 people with only two towels ? Had that happen in two places that week.

Review 70:the staff was as good as could be expected. the breakfast and staff was great.

Review 71:The place is being renovated ... and some parts show it is overdue! When I suggested that our first room should be condemned (!) they promptly moved us to a very satisfactory alternative. Obvious embarrassment and quick response to my concerns made up for much of the original inconvenience. In fact, I WOULD go back there ... as long as that original room has the promised makeover before being offered to ANY future guest.

Review 72:Front desk staff plus management reaction when I brought my concerns to their attention. Breakfast offerings were very satisfactory. Local bus service useful to non-drivers.

Review 73:- We reserved the hotel 9 months ago including breakfast and dinner. But the new management removed the dinner and they didn't send any information about that. And the answer was ridiculous "We removed a service which was free". But this service was one of the reasons why I choosed this hotel. After insisting they did a bit discount in our staying. - Hotel is in renovation so there was a lot of noise during the day. - No manuel heating in the room. - No hairdryer in the rooms.

Review 74:- Value for money if you choose this location to stay for any particular reason - Free secure parking - Close to a shopping mall

Review 75:hotel was under renovation and it said nothing about it online when we booked; there was no real lobby and no facilities to sit in and do work or anything outside the room (besides for a breakfast room.

Review 76:beds were comfortable, jacuzi worked, staff for the most was helpful, room was clean

Review 77:Facility is old and undergoing renovation, parts are closed and there was construction noise.

Review 78:Staff was cool, decent value for money. Parking is good.

Review 79:The hotel rooms are old and worn, towels have probably been washed 100s and 100s of times, carpet doesn't feel fresh and the windows didn't close properly so traffic noise was more than expected.

Review 80:Great location. Room interior has some charm but the wear and tear doesn't make up for it.

Review 81:On busy street and my room had traffic noise.

Review 82:Convenient location. Comfortable bed and clean rooms. Staff was very helpful with printing my airline tickets.

Review 83:Very convenient to freeways and shopping, some within walking distance. Good home base for accessing area attractions assuming you do not spend much time in the room. Free parking, internet and breakfast made the price very reasonable.

Review 84:Housekeeping could up their game. We were left without wash cloths and coffee and towels more than once. Road noise was rough the first night but we got used to it.

Review 85:We liked the location and the complimentary breakfast. Front desk staff was really nice and very accommodating when we needed something.

Review 86:Room is neat and tidy.Beds are comfortable, bathroom is big. High speed wireless internet. Nice armchair, spacious closet. very good breakfast. Adorable and friendly staff.

Review 87:This hotel was fabulous. Free undergound parking, the room was spacious, and had a massive jacuzzi in the bathroom which was a nice surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was very clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Review 88:- Old bathroom (no jacuzzi, just an old bathtub) - No diner (even if already paid!!!) - Cleaning not done one day :( - Wifi code expire without caution from the staff: outlawed from the WiFi one evening...) - Noisy (road and working whasing machines in front of my room around 11:00PM)

Review 89:- Bed comfort

Review 90:Breakfast choices got bit boring/repeative. Only difference each day was how your egg can be done

Review 91:Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is great, easily walk to Westgate Mall, Winchester Mystery house

Review 92:Location was a bit far out from everything if you don't drive, but this was really minor as the transport system is very good.

Review 93:The great customer service provided by hotel staff and the cleanliness of the hotel.

Review 94:Hot breakfast is not good. Neither is the woman serving. A smile goes a long way. Its ok to just grab a cereal and toast.

Review 95:Staff very friendly. Very secure. Bus 23 1min walk to hotel get u to city in 15/20mins.

Review 96:This hotel was perfect for our Wrestlemania stay. We were located near the highway so we were able to get to all events easily. The Free Wifi is awesome! We'll be back for sure

Review 97:Booked hotel as on booking.com advertised as dinner bed and breakfast but was very disappointed on arrival that dinner service was no longer available so meant travelling out daily to eat making the trip expensive

Review 98:Lovely staff spacious room

Review 99:The sheets and runner were stained, the towel racks & such were all loose, the ceiling fan did not work, the painting of the whole inside was terrible. It was not worth the $$!!!!

Review 100:It was right off the freeway. The distance to Levi Stadium was very close. HUGE bath&shower!!

Review 101:Inability to print boarding passes at front desk (no business center), run down place, including room), free dinner unappetizing and better off without, Would not recommend to anyone.

Review 102:Onsite parking

Review 103:The hotel commodities are so good, that I would only prefer to know of them in advance. More room info on the net would be great.

Review 104:The room feels like luxury. 6! pillows on the bed. Personal coffee machine. The breakfast was the best food I've tried in the USA. If there were no scratches here and there on the bathroom walls, and bathroom equipment would be more responsive, the hotel would deserve more stars.

Review 105:Everything is old, the street is noisy, the shower is too low, and dinner is only if you are starving.

Review 106:Location (next to Santana Row and a mall), wifi, staff, breakfast

Review 107:The building is very old so there is a bad smell in the room and sheets. The room gets so cold at night that I had to turn on nosey heater.

Review 108:Breakfast, location

Review 109:Canteen style restaurant. I think this hotel has the potential for so much more but it was exactly what we needed.

Review 110:Upon entering the hotel, we weren't expecting very much but really pleased to find lovely huge rooms.

Review 111:No bad experiences but the breakfast area can get a little crowded in the mornings.

Review 112:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Short bus ride to downtown to the Tech Museum saved on having to bother with parking. Walking distance to great shopping, including the designer shops of Santana Row. Two excellent nearby places to eat across the street included The Falafel Drive-In and The Korean Palace. A hot breakfast was served in the hotel every morning. Adequate covered/garage parking facility on-site. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Review 113:The hotel is has some cosmetic bumps and bruises but still a very comfortable, and very clean place to stay.

Review 114:I have been to a lot of hotels but never to one that served their guest a full breakfast and dinner. The staff are an exceptional bunch, very accommodating and willing to help. I was most impressed by the staff.

Review 115:Bathroom was outdated. Maybe some mold not sure. Guest upstairs very loud. Not the hotel's fault.

Review 116:The free breakfast, good parking, wonderful and helpful staff. Clean room good water pressure.

Review 117:We had to get our keys recoded, but that was only a minor annoyance

Review 118:It was so nice to finish a 12 hour work day and not have to worry about getting dinner, just go back to the hotel and it was waiting for us.

Review 119:-Mini kitchen needs updating. Cupboards were falling apart. -No signal to watch any TV. -Spotty wifi

Review 120:-Jacuzzi hot tub in room -Free breakfast and dinner (no dinner on holidays) -Good convenient location -$180 for 2 nights through booking.com

Review 121:That they weren't flexible with check in check out times. I had to pay for a whole extra night because I wanted to check out at 4pm.

Review 122:Clean room, Loved the large spa bath tub, quiet place couldn't hear the neighbors through the walls

Review 123:This place is well worth the money! We had a huge king bed that was extremely comfortable and had no comforters Which is a huge plus for me because I think they are gross. This place was so clean and there was a huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I loved this place. I'll stay here every time I come to San Jose

Review 124:The tenant told me that their bathroom wash basin leaked and despite repairing it, it leaked, and then they had to change the room. They called it an Okay Hotel.

Review 125:Decor was a little old fashioned. Could do with a decor facelift

Review 126:The bed was comfortable, the half board was good value for money. Walking distance to the malls.

Review 127:nothing at all.

Review 128:it is very affordable and clean. i love the free wifi.they were accommodating. they made my first califonia visit a lot more memorable. than you

Review 129:our room faced the street so you woke up to all the morning traffic single pane windows but other than that very decent place

Review 130:the place was comfortable and nice. Staff was excellent and helpful. The kitchen facility was really clean with good food.

Review 131:Bed was hard. Rooms are very noisy can hear the air conditioner from the room next door. Happy I brought ear plugs!!

Review 132:Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast not a big selection, but tasty.

Review 133:The mattresses need replacement, I realized remodeling is taken place but more maintenance is required and maybe to be reported by the cleaning staff. Food variety can be expanded/introduced.

Review 134:The people/staff are friendly. Although it is not a family business, but the environment is relaxing which makes you feel at home.

Review 135:The building is a bit dated and the street noise was very loud. It had windows that could be opened but I didn't open them because the street noise was terrible even with the windows shut. My room had a Jacuzzi tub, but I couldn't use it because there was no stopper for the drain.

Review 136:The size of the room was very nice, big bathroom, King bed was very comfortable, there were many choices to choose from for breakfast and it was very good.

Review 137:no shuttle bus to airport, cab is $20+ AC wasn't working properly

Review 138:Proximity to airport Moved to upgraded room when AC was in dis-repair at 11:00 at night when we checked in. Staff was helpful and attentive 1 BR was really large with Breakfast had 5 choices of cook to order eggs, omlettes and make your own waffles.

Review 139:When we first checked in, we were given a roadside room. The street is one of the busiest in the area and the traffic noise was well heard inside the room. Good news, after asking for a room change, the friendly receptionist placed us in a non-roadside room and the noise level was barely audible. Overall, a pleasant stay!

Review 140:Conveniently located, with good parking and great wi-fi reception. Made-to-order breakfast + buffet was good and the dinner meal was plentiful.
