Reviews for Red Roof PLUS+ Secaucus - Meadowlands

Review 1:There are no smoking rooms available on the entire premises. Nor was there a closet. There was a very tiny hanging rack, but it didn't provide anywhere near enough space and it was right next to the sink.

Review 2:The staff at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming, but more importantly they went out of their way to be accommodating. They made sure to cover all of my requests just to make me comfortable and never once let on to the fact that they were going completely out of their way.

Review 3:Good place to stay if you aren't expecting the Ritz for economy prices. Can't say anything bad about place :)

Review 4:For the price I was afraid I had been too cheap and gotten myself into mess. Wrong! This motel is economical, ample parking, green space to walk dog, clean and centrally located. The wifi worked, the cable was limited, but we were there for pet friendliness and location. Easy access to NYC- just walk two blocks and catch a motor coach (nicer than a city bus) to the CITY. Fast food across street and coffee in the reception area- saw that as I left!

Review 5:The wifi was coming in and out. We stayed 5 nights and room was made up twice and 2nd time the bed was hardly made a child could do a better job.

Review 6:The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 7:no near by public transport. the hotel did not provide any basic complimentary items in the room, primarily, water!!

Review 8:this is close to NYC. we went there in our personal vehicle and found it quick and easy to commute between NYC and the hotel. however, if we went there in public transport, it would have been difficult for us to get a cab. we chose this location, as our trip was majorly in the NYC and needed a place for night stay. So did not get much chance to explore and comment if it is a plus or a minus. It has access to restaurants right opposite to the hotel, which is a great thing. reasonably close to the statue of liberty from NJ side.

Review 9:The location, the room smelled like smoking, other guests were complaining about rats or mice in the room. We felt really uncomfortable, the area was desolated, the door didnt close well and we felt we had to block the door... Stayed 1 night, and didnt now how fas to go away again!!

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:I know it is not a high end Motel/Hotel but it could be clean at least. It was dirty and some furniture was broken. Also some of the electrical outlets didn't work.

Review 12:The staff was extremely helpful. We were visiting from Canada, and they helped us find local transportation, and restaurants. They were very friendly and made our experience a very easy and enjoyable one.

Review 13:Cleaning staff just walks in room at checkout time, unknowing if you rebooked room or not.

Review 14:Staff is very friendly at front desk, rooms are clean and great location.

Review 15:The room not clean everyday, apart from they change the towel everyday and bed made. The location is very isolated.

Review 16:A part from friendly staff, nothing special.

Review 17:The hotel is right on the water and is easy to spot because of the red roof. check in was quick and staff were friendly. the room was quiet, new and clean with great fixtures and comfy bed. the toilet didnt flush well in our room so we had to change to another but there was no hassle at the front desk. we got a new room right away. also, new york city is a quick half hour bus ride away and the stop is easy to get to. dunkin' donuts across the street from the hotel was great for a quick bite before heading out. Awesome stay! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting NYC.

Review 18:Room next door had a dog. The dog barked non stop from 8:30pm until 1:15am and I needed to be up at 5am. Next night it barked from 8:30pm to about 10:00pm. Couldn't change rooms as they were sold out. And no money was refunded. I felt like more could have been done. Monica at front desk did try to get customers to shut the dog up. But they were not in room.

Review 19:Convenient to expo center and lots of restaurants, a movie theater, Wal-Mart. Walking distance to a few fast food restaurants.

Review 20:The room size mentioned in Booking.com was 300 sq ft, actually its about 200 sq ft. The room has a musty smell. No laundry machine for self wash.

Review 21:Various eating places across the street

Review 22:Outside of the room the facility needed some work. The concrete walls and walkways were in need of a good steam cleaning and the elevators were a mess. The grounds were nice but needed some work, which was taking place while we were there.

Review 23:The room was very nice with all the things that we required. The woman who cleaned our room was exceptional, going out of her way to accomodate our request. The view was very nice. Staff was very pleasant.

Review 24:Nothing special. If you need good internet connection, ask the staff while check in. Some rooms may not have proper internet connection.

Review 25:Nice and helpful staff, clean and comfort rooms, close to all food places and to the bus station.

Review 26:Noisy air conditioner and bathroom vent.

Review 27:Reasonable price, good location, pretty close to the bus station for Manhattan. Several fast food restaurants across the street.

Review 28:Cleanliness could be better. Sheets and towels are clean and fresh, but the carpets and floors could do with a good clean. Just lazy cleaners. Always take anti bac wipes, and give surfaces a going over.

Review 29:Good place to stay if you have a car and are visiting NYC. Parking at hotel, and only 20 mins into 42nd street on the bus. 15 minute drive to Newark airport. Rooms are ok, with comfy beds. Wifi was ok. Up and down.

Review 30:Location was a little off for me, it was very loud as we were right next to a freeway!

Review 31:I thought this hotel was great! Really served its purpose for my family! I love Red Roof Inn!!!!! The staff was very helpful and always nice! They helped us understand the public bus system!!!!!!

Review 32:Didn't care for the steps much, but it was a small thing.

Review 33:The bed was very comfortable and the room was small but not too small to move around. Also the full boat of cable stations were a bonus.

Review 34:Had trouble getting a $100 cash refund for a one night early departure. The manager gave us a hard time inferring we were at fault because they only carried $100 cash in the drawer.

Review 35:Location, Location, Location. The 15 minute bus to Times Sq the best. The river was a nice outlook and very quiet.

Review 36:Transport links - it would be better for bus driver to drop guest at bus stop near the hotel rather than dropping us off at the liquor store, especially at night (the last two services from port authority)

Review 37:Price & cleanliness

Review 38:The bathtub was not that clean, there was hair on the toilet, when we walked in. the internet service was the worst i have ever seen, and the whole reason we came there was because there was internet service. Also, they lied on the site, and made it look like they had fridge and microwaves, and they did not. That was one of the main reasons we got the hotel because we assumed it had fridge and microwave.

Review 39:We got free snacks from the lady at counter, bed was comfy.

Review 40:the location it was to far from the train station & there wasn't a very good bus service into new york

Review 41:The hotel was fine I would recommend this hotel to my friends

Review 42:Lobby closes from 11pm-6am so hot drinks are only available the next morning. Ralph at the reception is very nasty, hope you don't get to meet him

Review 43:It is very convenient, close to the bus stop that takes you directly to Manhattan in just a few minutes. Hotel always clean and staff helpful. Italian security lady is very sweet

Review 44:No breakfast possibilities indoor. Cold light in the room, could be more cosy.

Review 45:Friendly staff, good location for trips to Manhatten, excellent bus transfer in the near surrounding. Several diners nearby Wendy's, Donkin Donuts, Sindbad, Subway.

Review 46:the carpet in our room felt odd under our feet, but that is truly our only complaint.

Review 47:the bathroom was fabulous and the staff was always cheerful and helpful. were able to give us directions to almost anywhere. Wonderful fitness room available 24/7

Review 48:If you don't have a car to move around, you might not like the sometimes long wait for the buses.

Review 49:The location was calm and quite away from the noise of Jersey City

Review 50:That they did not mention the additional tax on the website

Review 51:Good hotel very good location, only problem was.. when we arrived they charged us a lot more money because of the tax, so please make sure you take the addition of tax into concideration :(

Review 52:Public transportation to get to/from NYC was relatively far and the night/weekend route appeared to be at the whim of each driver. (NJT bus line129 to Port Authority)

Review 53:The staff was cheerful and very helpful. Clean premises and close to river.

Review 54:No towels left some days. Took time to get them. Room not always cleaned well. Floor not swept etc. shower either freezing or scalding. Staff brusque at times.

Review 55:Location was great. Handy to get to NY and just off the 3. Great value for money. Bed very comfortable.Pros outweighed the cons.

Review 56:We had no problems. Any needs we had (microwave & frig, towels, toilet paper) were taken care of promptly.

Review 57:The staff was very responsive & friendly. The location was close to everywhere we wanted to go: Statue of Liberty, Yankee game, Atlantic City. Very convenient.

Review 58:This hotel was convenient to busing into NYC, however limited times were available right outside of the hotel otherwise have to walk about 7 minutes which wasn't too bad.

Review 59:by far the worst Inn I have been to ! front desk lady was rude and useless. the room smelled like it was never opened and cleaned for the past month! ppl next door were smoking pot on the shared balcony and when we complained to the mangament their response "we can't really do anything to them" !! we were scared to leave our luggages in the room and had to take it with us everywhere ! horrible experience : (

Review 60:It was a very bad that is all i can say about this particular hotel, you can get more value for your money in other near-by hotels. I was also charge for a night i did not stay because i did not cancel properly and i was not refunded back Please do not stay.

Review 61:The staff was exceptionally polite and helpful, answering questions about the area and traveling routes. Assisted to our every need and helped make our stay more relaxing. The location was perfect, offering food from chain and local establishments. Fast food, alcohol, and convenience stores were all within walking distance. Location was a $6 Uber ride to MetLife Stadium, and a $35 dollar ride to Manhattan. Trains and Buses are also available for those two routes as a cheaper alternative. It's not the Ritz, but for the money and location it cannot be beat. If you're going to or around the NYC area, you shouldn't be spending much time in the hotel room anyway. Perfect for a cheaper stay!

Review 62:Someone was doing a burnout on their harley in the hotel courtyard at 2am...not very much fun trying to sleep thru it

Review 63:Location to met life stadium is awesome

Review 64:We were in town for a concert for my daughters birthday and was looking for am inexpensive place to stay for the night. We arrived earlier than expected and when we went in just to get directions to go to the mall until check in time the young woman at the front desk asked us to wait a min and when she came back she had a room ready for us.the staff was wonderful and the scenery was fantastic. The only thing that they could of added was some type of breakfast and this would of been the perfect place.

Review 65:on arrival my booking was not confirmed, hotel staff where not friendly at all, didnt help that much and asked me to ring the Booking.com number to get this sorted, i had to explain i just landed and i do not have a cell phone that works in america so they eventually sorted it out and i ended up waiting 1 hour before i got to my room. not very good after travelling all day.

Review 66:A.C filter not clean and top bed spread had stains on it took it off the bed for the entire stay

Review 67:Location was quite and short drive into the city and staff was friendly and helpful

Review 68:The daily room cleaning was not done properly during my stay.

Review 69:The location (concerning commuting to new york) is the most attractive thing in this hotel, as it is close the bus stop where bus 129 could be rided.

Review 70:My room was about as far away from the elevators and parking lot as possible, and with the exterior entry doors, I would've been happier to be closer to the elevators. You may want to request that if you can.

Review 71:Staff was beyond nice and personable. You can tell Red Roof Inn goes out of its way to hire and train well. Every employee I encountered was friendly and asked if they could help before I had to ask for help. Very close to Met Life stadium. I'd suggest getting parking through parking panda at Redd's restaurant. It took just a couple of minutes to get to Redd's, then Redd's had a shuttle to Met Life. In and out like nothing at all.

Review 72:Air conditioner was a little noisy.

Review 73:Friendly staff. Needed some more towels and they were there in minutes. Very helpful with tips for us into NY, with bus routes and tours. Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, and subway across the street. Easy rive into NJ.

Review 74:Very small room. Cigarettes smell even though it's a non-smoking hotel. We only stayed two nights then checked out early. I hope I have not been charged for the entire stay!

Review 75:The whole facility was excellent ,the staff where very helpfull especially the front desk staff who change in shifts but they are all nice pple .iamlooking forward to going back to this place

Review 76:None

Review 77:This is out of their control but public transportation is not easy nor cheap. Park at Port Imperial plus ferry or park at Secaucus Junction plus train will be north of $30 for one person. Bus does not run late. A few restaurants across the street but nothing close if you want snacks, etc. Plan ahead.

Review 78:Clean, new rooms. Don't let the dated exterior fool you. Great value, helpful staff.

Review 79:We were late getting checked in, although it was after 4pm, because housekeeping had not cleaned the room. The first day housekeeping was spectacular but that was the only day. There were 3 of is in the room and we never got 3 sets of towels. We had to go down each night to get another set. We came in around 3 or 4 one day and our room was an utter mess. The beds had been stripped and bedding was everywhere. It would have been better had housekeeping just not gotten to our room yet. We called downstairs and a housekeeper came to make the bed, take the trash, and wipe down everything, sink, mirror, bathroom, all with the same rag. The housekeeper and some other lady had words right in front of us about the state of the room. It was awkward.

Review 80:Everything was great except housekeeping. But, that was enough to not make me want to return to this hotel.

Review 81:Rooms were very clean but areas outside the actual rooms could be cleaner: i.e., hallways, doors, elevators...

Review 82:Staff - friendly, welcoming, helpful, very accommodating!

Review 83:I didnt like how i booked the room almost two months in advance and i still had to wait for a room when i got their.

Review 84:I enjoyed the view . I loved how they cleaned our rooms everyday. I traveled with children so that was a vacation in itself. The staff was always helpful.

Review 85:Poor room placement. In front of laundry facility. Heard very loud washers and dryers far past midnight each night. Staff very loud before 8 a.m. Right outside of room. Workers gathered outside room and talked very loudly in foreign languages. Appeared to be having disagreements. Not every guest has to be up and out by 8 a.m. When complained at time of checkout, no resolution other than 15% discount for next stay. Would not stay there again.

Review 86:The location of Inn was convenient to the highway.

Review 87:room was not very clean No charging facilities for smart phones No bed and breakfast No good food outlets nearby

Review 88:proximity to NY and riverside location

Review 89:it says, it is 100% smoking free hotel but, still using blankets with cigarette burned holes on it.

Review 90:Front desk personal are very friendly and doing their job perfectly.

Review 91:This hotel can not be 3 star at all, it should be 1start, where it says 3 star on booking.com.

Review 92:I just liked the manager attitude where he was unhappy when I told him what happened to me at the check in time, as well as the security lady where she was very kind and willing to help.

Review 93:My experience was not bad at all.

Review 94:Check in was easy, clean comfortable room, bed. Conveniently located across the street from restaurants such as Wendy's, Subway, and Dunkin if you want to grab a bite to eat.

Review 95:It was not so clean, weird smell, sockets were almost all out of order. Trucks and buses were parking outside and were very noisy in the night and morning, could hardly sleep((

Review 96:The location was nice, the room was quite big, with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee facilities. Staff was okay.

Review 97:A lot of small things were buggy, like a drawer wouldn't close once you opened it, the towel rack was loose etc. The WiFi stopped working the next day. The room had a weird smell of bad cleaning supplies and it was musty.

Review 98:The room was well furnished and clean. Security was seen walking at night. The location to NYC was really close by and also food and liquor stores were right across the street.

Review 99:The front desk staff are rude, dishonest and lack integrity. On arrival, I was poorly received as if I was been done a favour and at departure, they refused to refund my balance.

Review 100:I like the location and ability to get easy and quick transportation to NYC.

Review 101:The staff were great - very helpful with providing info on local facilities, stores, etc. They also did everything to make my stay comfortable. Located on the banks of the Hackensack River, this setting is a peaceful spot in the rather hectic town of Secaucus.

Review 102:Everything was so tight. Clearly there were renovations made byt they didnt have the room for it. The latch lock on my door was broken. I just didn't feel as comfortable as Id like to feel but in that area for that price i just sucked it up.

Review 103:The staff were very friendly and kind. The location was great if you planned on visiting NYC. There was a bus doen the street that took you through the Lincoln tunnel and to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It sits on the water and there is a gazebo to relax in and enjoy the view however smokers had taken it over during my stay.

Review 104:The room we were given was a handicapped room. I had booked the room at least 3 weeks in advanced. Didn't understand why they couldn't reserve a regular room.

Review 105:The bath room door doesn't have locker and the door is made of untransparent glass!.

Review 106:The area is safe. The reception team are very friendly and helpful. The view from the room was awesome. The transportation to Manhattan is easy.

Review 107:The bed stands were too close to the bed -- my husband hit his knee on the corner and got a scrape from the bed stand.

Review 108:I'm happy to find a non-carpeted floor and a nice bathroom/sink.

Review 109:However, you could not even walk around the bed, the room was that small. I paid for a King Supreme with a view. I got a tiny room with no fridge, no microwave and a view of the highway off-ramp.

Review 110:When I told the staff I asked for a king bed they moved us.

Review 111:Read above

Review 112:Nothing!! Front person Monica couldn't even give us toiletries??? Really? She instructed us to pick it up from lobby if we need it. My wife was pregnant and we needed extra pillow and your staff said "we don't carry" extra pillows?? YOU GUYS ARE IN HOSPITALITY BUSINESS!!!!!! Our stay was a joke

Review 113:Bathroom door did not close properly. But otherwise satisfied with the room

Review 114:Location is good. Close to MetLife Stadium and bus that takes you to NYC (approx 30 min bus ride). Would recommend the hotel based on location and price.

Review 115:However, we do believe the hotel would benefit from investing in some sort of shuttle service that brings travelers from the hotel to the bus stop and vice versa, especially late at night instead of having to walk.

Review 116:We enjoyed the convenience of being a 20 minute bus ride from Manhattan

Review 117:I had no bad experiences.

Review 118:Im still in shock how clean and updated these rooms are. This red roof had a better room/bathroom than some of the Holiday Inns I've stayed in.

Review 119:Facilities came right away to unfreeze my door with a propane torch. The room wasn't your typical Red Roof Inn, it had more than a sheet on the bed and it was fairly modern.

Review 120:Wifi was the only issue but didn't care. Price was fare but I would have said 65 not 95.

Review 121:It was very close to the bus or train station! Clean everyone was nice!

Review 122:Staff was grumpy and annoyed. The room was full of dust, sheets were spotted. Were non-existent cleaning! Every morning a lady changed towels and maked the bed, just this!

Review 123:Location, very close to NYC. Free WiFi.

Review 124:The sink in the bathroom had hair and trash in the drain, the comforter had a something (food or something else) dried onto it, the door had a gap under it which aloud cold air flow in ( we had to put a towel infront of the door to keep cold air out, also the noise level from outside could be heard in the room very clearly!

Review 125:The evening staff at front desk were extra friendly, they answered all our questions with a smile!

Review 126:Poor wifi connection at hotel...free wifi but hardly would ever stay connected

Review 127:Loved the location and price. Great for giants/jets games. Liquor/Beverage store and Dunkin donuts across the street. Housekeeping very friendly. Perfect for young couples trying to have a good time and save money on their stay. Would absolutely stay here again.

Review 128:This hotel was not listed as a motel which is what it is. It did not feel comfortable. The room did not have any heat. It did not feel clean nor did it look it. The toilet and the shower were dirty as if they had never been cleaned before. The baseboards and walls look like they have been chewed by animals and the room was extremely small. The price that we would have paid was too expensive for what you get. Luckily, the associate at the desk was accommodating and did refund our money so we could leave and go to another hotel.

Review 129:While checking in the staff was to busy playing around then to help me. As I am waiting I hear them talking about a room with a broken lock. I specifically asked not to be placed in that room. After checking in the maintenance men had to let me in the room since I was given the room with the broken lock. Then when I came back from dinner that evening I had to go to the lobby 3 times to get a key that worked just to get in my room.

Review 130:I liked the location, the bed was very comfortable

Review 131:In our 3 night stay our room wasn't cleaned once. The shampoo was never replaced. One tiny bottle for 2 people for 3 days? Only on our checkout day were we asked if we wanted new towels. Incredible how bad the cleanliness and cleaning staff were

Review 132:Price and proximity to NYC. Front desk staff were very nice

Review 133:it's quite obvious the hotel has been recently renovated new floors nice flat screen TVfancy bathroom sinksmoked glass door on bathroom, room .freshly painted in beautiful color scheme.nice comfortable beds with nice linen.just a great room for the price

Review 134:Safe didnt work and wasnt fixed on request. TV poorly fixed to wall due to a loose bolt.

Review 135:Good location with car parking, price, quiet room. Beds were comfortable but pillows ccould be better. Easy to get bus into NYC.
