Reviews for Arena Hotel
Review 1:Perfect location for the sap stadium as well as the cal train station. The rooms were awesome and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to people.
Review 2:Huge, noisy earthmoving equipment began working at 8:00 AM outside my window. I could have been warned or a discount given. Even earplugs were useless. Is that legal there?
Review 3:Location. Parking.
Review 4:I really enjoy the jacuzzi. I also like the cleanliness of the room as well as thebeautiful, outside. And the staff was very nice.I have stay here before several years ago and the experience both times was wonderful.
Review 5:This facility is a little tired. It needs updating. It has some charm and could be a real gem with some cosmetic fixes.
Review 6:Good location to the SAP Center. The room was clean and fhe breakfast was good.
Review 7:The room was pretty dated.
Review 8:We were there for a hockey game at SAP Arena. The location couldn't have been better. The staff was really nice and helpful.
Review 9:Hotel is a short walk from Diridon station, we got the Caltrain from SFO. plenty of places to eat nearby. Nice big room, a bit odd and dated but perfectly clean and acceptable. Short taxi ride to SJO from where we had an early flight
Review 10:Too much noise :( TV was full-blast at 1:30 a.m., and again at 6:00 a.m., which interrupted my sleep :(
Review 11:location is near SJSU campus, which was the purpose of our visit.
Review 12:Bed could use a comforter. Would be nice to update to keurig so you can do your own coffee. It would be nice to control ceiling fan speed.
Review 13:Love the in room hottub. It is pretty central to most things so you can survive without a car. Staff is friendly.
Review 14:We loved our stay.I dont have anything bad to say.
Review 15:Great price, great location, and great service. We loved our stay and will be staying there again. We would recommend to family and friends.
Review 16:certain staff members weren't very helpful in times of need
Review 17:the location and comfort were amazing. we were going to thr SAP Centre for a concert. the only downside was the lack of close restaurants. mostly fastfood was nearby.
Review 18:The location of the hotel worked perfectly with our plans for this trip. We could easily walk to a number of things we had planned. Parking was free for our stay. Breakfast was ample and good.
Review 19:Check in time is 3pm and they were not very accommodating to check you in any earlier. We wasted half the afternoon sitting in the lobby waiting to get into a room.
Review 20:Hotel was quaint and comfortable. Hotel was walking distance to SAP center.
Review 21:I was on the 3rd floor. The hallway carpet was worn and there were holes in spots. Occasional noise from other guests and planes. Heater control panel was broken and main light was wonky and wouldn't turn on once.
Review 22:The location was close to my conference and a great value. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The decorations and common areas were lovely! Room was a nice size for friends to come over for a glass of wine. Having a mini refrigerator, plates and microwave were pleasant surprises. Having breakfast included was nice but breakfast was mediocre.
Review 23:We would have liked a workout room. The smoking area was too far from hotel secuity.
Review 24:The staff was excellent and went out their way to assist guests. I would like to give special kudos to front desk agent 'Lino'. He always greeted us with a smile and was helpfult and well informed with all of our questions. The jaccuzzi tub wonderful.
Review 25:Hotel was 5 minute walk from the SAP Center where we saw a hockey game. Very convenient. Staff very nice. Hotel is older but clean. Needs new carpeting in halls but we really liked the cozy feel to it.
Review 26:Large dust balls in elevator. Poor picture on tv. One thin blanket only in room, got cold.?
Review 27:Location, convenient parking, helpful guy at front desk, quiet. Jacuzzi tub in room.
Review 28:Room is a little old, but not dirty. Breakfast was fair, I wouldn't miss it.
Review 29:Great location, just 5 minutes walk from the Caltrain station. Pharmacy next door made urgent purchases very easy. Rooms are large and comfy. Jacuzzi tub!
Review 30:The jacuzzi tub did not work, and the air conditioner had many problems. However, the tub was large and comfortable, and the weather was cool which helped with the air conditioning.
Review 31:The room was nicely decorated, roomy and very clean. Excellent location!
Review 32:The Arena was a perfect place to stay if you are going to SAP Center. It's a short walk to the arena. It's next to Whole Foods and CVS. Rooms were large, neat and clean. It's not fancy, but you can't beat it for the price and location. We will definitely stay here the next time we come to San Jose for concerts at SAP.
Review 33:The hotel is in need of a makeover. Our room smelt like a bottle of fabrize
Review 34:I loved that the hotel was a very short walk to the sap center. Hot breakfast was nice.
Review 35:Plugs in room were all lose. Our hair curlers, phone chargers and other items did not want to stay on.
Review 36:Love the location and overall feel of the place, very quaint and upkeep is nice.
Review 37:The breakfast was delicious, with several hot dishes to choose from. The staff was accommodating when we thought we lost a key and brought us a new plug for the spa tub (wonderful) when the one in the room appeared to be broken.
Review 38:No nearby restaurants except for Whole Foods Need to drive to any shopping, theater, etc.
Review 39:Large rooms with modern furnishings Convenient location with free parking Good breakfast Free wifi
Review 40:Old and tired hotel. Clean enough but I wasn't going to dig into anything. Walked out in morning, someone had puked on brick walkway. Made two stops on my walk, gone maybe thirty minutes. Puke still there on my return. I asked clerk if he knew about it and he said yes, they were on it. When we checked out it had been partially rinsed off. Chunks still visible.
Review 41:Looks like it was once a nicer higher end hotel. Now it's old and tired. Location was fine. Slept well. Jetted tub in bathroom (didn't use). Staff was friendly. Breakfast was fine.
Review 42:Bed and pillow were a little stiff. The tub wasn't cleaned very well. Dirty feet stains or something on the bottom of the tub. Otherwise we would have used it. Hotel really needs a little updating. I would recommend getting rid of the old looking wallpaper and just repaint the walls.
Review 43:Breakfast was included and it was near the SAP Center.
Review 44:Normally quiet, but this time construction work was being done right outside our window starting at 7:30 AM every day. Also, no clock in the room. And limited sports channels on TV - no Fox football game.
Review 45:Large rooms, great location, clean and comfortable.
Review 46:I didn't like that they have raised the prices for nights from what they used to be.
Review 47:I really liked the spa tub and how friendly the front desk was.
Review 48:The lobby area, stairs and hallways as well as the breakfast room were very dated. The hallways were super dirty and worn.
Review 49:The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was great if you wanted to be centrally located in San Jose.
Review 50:The location was great. Very walkable to amenities, transportation & town. Staff was friendly & breakfast was good. Room was clean, comfortable, & quiet. Great value for the price.
Review 51:stuff is nice and helpful. I arrived in the morning with luggage and it is awkward to walk around with the luggage, The stuff found the room is available and let me check in early.
Review 52:It was hard to find, and there was no restaurants near by it. I had to walk to Whole Foods a long block away to find a make-shift dinner and bring it back to eat in my room.
Review 53:Walking distance to the SAP Center the Area Hotel is very clean throughout I had a large room with a comfortable king bed. By the elevator, there's a sitting area to gather or relax. They served a nice hot breakfast.
Review 54:They had a plugged drain pipe that backed up into my bathtub. They must have fixed it because after the first night it never happened again. Unfortunately it happened in the middle of the night and woke me.
Review 55:Quiet and clean. Overall I was very pleased with everything. The breakfast was decent every morning, not great but adequate. I would stay there again.
Review 56:Nothing.
Review 57:This is a very cozy hotel. There are only two floors and it was very homey and welcoming. The staff was really nice. We arrived early so I called to see if at least one of our two rooms were ready so we can go and drop off our belongings, and they both were. The staff was more than happy to check us in early when we got there. The room was amazing! It had everything including a refrigerator/freezer combo, a microwave, a coffee pot AND PAPER PLATES, BOWLS AND UTENSILS! That had me. They really did think of everything. Beds were comfy. The bath is a jacuzzi tub! I loved everything about this hotel. Stay here if you visit San Jose. It was an amazing place. I'll definitely be back.
Review 58:The facilities are a bit run down. The carpet in the halls definitely needs replacing and the whole place could use a bit of a revamp. But, that being said, it was comfortable and clean.
Review 59:This hotel is the perfect location for guests visiting the SAP Centre. There is a decent amount of food near by and it is also close to the airport. We enjoyed our two night stay here and would probably book again for a short trip, but not for a long stay. Breakfast is included, it is okay.
Review 60:Hard to say, everything was pretty satisfactory or exceeding expectations
Review 61:Great location, close to arena, downtown, hockey arena and both municipal and inter city transit. Very good breakfast
Review 62:The hotel was definitely outdated and dirty. And when I commented about it to the front desk they said the the owners were "slowly" renovating....real slowly... Also, it seemed like most of the electrical items were on the noisy side or had issues....air conditioner, bathroom exhaust fan, room fan, bathroom light..we had two rooms and there were electrical problems in both.
Review 63:My family and I liked that the hotel was located next to a Whole Foods, a CVS, several coffee shops and some dining choices. We were there when the Sharks were playing so it can get a little busy. The breakfast in the morning was OK, but when you have big hungry guys its great. Beds were fairly comfortable...and with 7 of us I couldn't afford to spend double the amount, so it was a decent value.
Review 64:Terrible internet service Dirty carpeting throughout all hallways. Cleaning carts were always in the hallways. Room not usually cleaned until late afternoon.Good location; terrible wifi;
Review 65:Only the location was good
Review 66:Room and decorations were a bit outdated. I loved the old building and high ceilings, but that doesn't mean the furniture should be old.
Review 67:The building was pretty, very old, but pretty. Clean rooms, comfy bed, nice jacuzzi tub, hot breakfast
Review 68:Not downtown where all the bars/nightlife are despite being advertised as 'downtown' - would not stay there again for that reason (it's not that far away but it's certainly not walkable). Horrible high & hard pillows gave me neck-ache. Expensive considering location and room condition.
Review 69:Breakfast included, quality OK. Parking free and on-site. Wi-fi good. Large and spacious room although decor in need of a refresh.
Review 70:Our room was very clean..its the hallways that are very dirty and were in a great need of a vacuum. During our few day stay, the hallway never got vacuumed and even cigarette butts were present.
Review 71:Beds are comfortable and clean. Breakfast a strong plus, free parking is wonderful, hotel prices very reasonable.
Review 72:The sound insulation between the floors is not great. I was lucky to have quite neighbours upstairs who didn't bother me much of the stay. However, I could hear them walking in their room as good as if they were in my own.
Review 73:Good location, not far from downtown, very close to the train station to go to San Francisco and whole foods shop and restaurant is few steps away Very friendly and helpful staff Nice breakfast, although not varied from day to day
Review 74:When I booked this hotel, no where on the website did it mention you had to be 21 or older to check in.. booking.com should definitely mention this, so people don't book and then are unable to check in.
Review 75:Close to the SAP Center. 2 blocks to the light rail that takes you to Levi Stadium. Next door to excellent store and deli. Walk to 3-4 good eateries. Free parking
Review 76:The room and hotel were not very clean. The room needed a thorough cleaning and he furniture in the room needed updating, also there were no suitcase stands.
Review 77:The location and price.
Review 78:Liked the layout of the lobby, entrance and the room. Comfortable bedding, relaxing room. Liked that parking was not visible from the street, fenced and well-lighted, so we felt safe. Desk was staffed 24-hours. Didn't try the breakfast unfortunately.
Review 79:Business traveller computer is not hooked up directly to a printer. Water conservation issue: Noticed that a faucet in ladies restroom off the lobby was dripping. Reported it on Wed 10/13. It was still dripping on Mon 10/19.
Review 80:Front desk staff person Lino was very helpful. He went out of his way to help us. Cleaning staff were cheerful and did a great job.
Review 81:Very noisy 4am delivery in alley outside window. Breakfast did not include any healthy choices like yogurt or fresh fruit.
Review 82:Location near downtown and Whole Foods. Comfortable bed in a spacious room.
Review 83:Where shall I start. First of all I dont understand how over 800 review could have given this hotel more than 8 points. Once you arrive you can already smell that everything is old. Its like a mixture of choroid, dead cat and old furniture. The rooms are totally outdated, everything is from the 60s, including the amenities. Carpet is filthy throughout hotel. I was worried about bed bugs. Then there is the noise level. You can hear everything, the walls are super thin. We were in room 230 and had someone staying above us. Not sure what their deal was, but every 30secs they would stump around and it was impossible to sleep. Later they decided to make out and the bed was rattling... We called the front desk several time to complain about their noise level, no action. I know its only 3 stars, but for over $120 a night, and that was their cheapest rate, sometimes its $150 its just unacceptable. This is rather a motel and not a hotel. Horrible stay, dont recommend it at all.
Review 84:The only thing that was positive was free parking on premises.
Review 85:There was a gap in the front door and we could hear everybody passing by and arriving to their rooms. It was fine during the day but it was annoying at night I actually had to put s towel on the floor to help with the noise. Desk chair in room was broken. And the tv was a bit small for the price of the room.
Review 86:Large room, vinyl flooring, large king size bed with comfy pillows and sheets, jacuzzi tub (although we did not use it, and are unsure if it works well or not) nice sink area with a great mirror for makeup and getting ready. We only encountered staff once during check in, and she was very nice and clear. It was a nice hotel in an up and coming area perfect distance for concert or arena.
Review 87:The room is in need of remodeling. The carpets are filthy and you don't dare walk across them barefoot.
Review 88:In the heart of the city, easy parking and convenient to restaurants and Whole Foods.
Review 89:I sent the hotel an email to asked if they could find my glasses after check-out but they didn't reply me at all. The staff at the reception was not very helpful during check-in.
Review 90:Jacuzzi was nice. Breakfast was included in the room rate. The room is clean. Close to Whole Foods Market and some coffee/fast food shops.
Review 91:The only thing I'd change about this hotel would be the carpets, they are very old and grubby looking.
Review 92:Great location, close to restaurants shops, and train station with regular service to San Francisco. Breakfast was great, hot and cold food options, jacuzzi bath was a fabulous extra.
Review 93:There wasn't anything I didn't like. It was a nice room
Review 94:The room was very nice, as the hotel was also. It was nice to have a good breakfast like the one you have.
Review 95:I hope the carpet will be replaced in the hallways and the room. Both areas the carpet had stretched. It was not attractive and could certainly be a falling hazard.
Review 96:The Lobby is very attractive and the rooms are nice and large. The Breakfast Room was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious- lots of food choices.
Review 97:We checked in around 11:00 pm after a long flight...exhausted and needing a bed...opened the sofa bed...the sheets were twisted and there were Kleenex in it. The staff immediately gave us another room.
Review 98:The staff acted quickly to move our family- exhausted from cross country flight- to another room that was clean and well prepared.
Review 99:It smelled like bleach. The bathtub was not all white as it should have been. There was a discolored/black area on the bottom. Otherwise it seemed to be very clean. I could not get the window to stay open to get fresh air. No blanket.
Review 100:It satisfied my needs for a reasonable priced hotel with parking included and breakfast included.
Review 101:Wish we could have stayed at a place like this every night. Could only afford their prices on a Sunday night tho. The included breakfast was very good.
Review 102:Hotel just need to replace hall carpets a little upgrade there other then that no complaints
Review 103:Staff was awesome room was clean location was great thanks and the price was very reasonable
Review 104:The hotel price is excellent in this area with free WiFi, parking and breakfast. Free breakfast is usually not good but it is acceptable in this hotel. The location is good, quiet and near a pharmacy and a supermarket. The room is clean and has good size.
Review 105:The bed sheets felt like sand paper, the mattress could use an update they were old and hard, the furniture was old and worn, the light fixtures were dim and broken and the carpet was dirty and stained.
Review 106:Great location, parking, and hot breakfast. Hotel has great potential. With some investment if could be a first rate hotel. The carpets, mattresses, light fixtures and Quality of the linen needs to be seriously upgraded.
Review 107:It seems a little Run down. The shower and the water pressure aren't very good.
Review 108:I like the convenience as to how close it is to The Shark Tank. The beds and pillows are really comfortable.
Review 109:Public areas need redoing. Wifi sucks. In-room fridges have a temperature control problem; freeze food once in a while.. No fresh fruit for breakfast (only carbohydrates..)
Review 110:Convenient location. Large room. Clean interior. Evening receptionist Italian gentleman, very attentive and courteous.
Review 111:Great value. Clean comfortable room with spa in bathroom. Okay breakfast included. Good location near SAP center. If you want a bar & restaurant in the hotel, this one isn't for you. But good restaurants are near. I would stay here whenever possible.
Review 112:While the property seemed clean it did also appear somewhat worn, in need of some updating.
Review 113:The only staff we encountered were at the front desk and they were pleasant.
Review 114:The room was larger and allowed more a/c/heat control. TV channel lineups were provided and staff were all pleasant and helpful. Reasonably quiet and nice breakfast
Review 115:We stayed here for one night before heading to the airport, and it suited our needs perfectly! Although it is older, it is in reasonable shape, not luxurious by any means, but great for the price. Free off street parking, and in a nice area added to the value. I would stay here again, but not for more than a night or two.
Review 116:Nice breakfast options, great location--within walking distance of the San Jose convention center. Room had ample room with a couch, CVS and whole foods right next door to the hotel.
Review 117:That we had to leave. Hahaha. I would have liked to be further in the downtown area.
Review 118:The breakfast was over the top. Staff was very nice. Friendly n prompt.room was spacious.
Review 119:Breakfast was only ok. The paper plates and plastic utensils didn't help
Review 120:Close to the SAP and train station. Reception we excellent and the room was clean.
Review 121:Our room had a bug spray kind of smell in it. Not sure if it really was or not though. On the plus side I saw no bugs.
Review 122:We had to come in early and they accommodated us happily and without raising the price. They were helpful and gracious. This quaint hotel location is close to a Whole Foods and to the train station. The bed was very comfy and getting a jacuzzi tub in the room was a welcome surprise. Also, the parking lot was nice. We would stay here again.
Review 123:Breakfast is not good for us. We both are vegetarian. We can't found anything vegetarian can eat. So even they have free breakfast. But almost are animal corpse.
Review 124:Staff are good. Room is good. Location is fine.
Review 125:The foam pillows were so stiff I had to get a chiropractic adjustment to get motion back into my neck.
Review 126:The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 127:My car was broken in to the hotel didn't tell us they knew we found out when we checked out the hotel was no help no accommodations what so everui
Review 128:Nothing
Review 129:They have free breakfast, but almost vegetarian can not eat. Including yougrt have gelatin( from animal body) , too much meat. So breakfast is not good for us.
Review 130:Staff is good, location is fine. Room is clean.
Review 131:The checkout time could've been noon not 11. With tight schedule and late nights I really didn't get enough sleep or time in the hotel room. Wish the check-in hour would a bit earlier than 3 pm too.
Review 132:Loved the bed and the interior of the hotel. Location is not very central but not too far from the city center and close to VTA train
