Reviews for Snelling Motor Inn

Review 1:location

Review 2:The place is falling apart. Lag bolt holding the table together, mold in the shower. No night in the shower. cigarette burns on all the furniture. Will never stay there again.

Review 3:There was evidence of a poor remodel job (the sink countertops was ill-fitted and sticking out beyond the base by 4 inches or more); the towel holder was rusted

Review 4:WIFI was spotty and was not as clean as I expected (spiders, cobwebs, mirror spots, microwave had fingerprints) no coffee pot, but overall was OK.

Review 5:Close to VA hospital, good price. Staff was nice, helpful. Did have fridge & microwave, hairdryer.

Review 6:The bed was too soft for my liking but it was spacious. The room was humid and smelt a bit , air conditioning was essential. Also they didn't offer any breakfast.

Review 7:Proximity to the Minnesota St. Paul airport and access to the nearby connecting light rail makes it an ideal stopover location. The ataff were helpful and check in was easy.

Review 8:light rail train every few minutes loud if room next to track but loud ac unit will drown out noise

Review 9:clean room, recently upgraded, nice king bed, very convenient if you have to go to the VA hospital

Review 10:This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. There were mattresses and box springs just sitting outside of the building. No fitted sheets on the bed...just a flat sheet that easily moved and exposed the disgusting mattress underneath.

Review 11:This hotel has a good location. Close to the metro and convenient to the airport. The surrounding neighborhoods are charming.

Review 12:Room: The bathroom was gross and the door does not latch. There wasn't any shampoo/conditioner supplied (not that I would have used the shower anyway). Junky old tube television with no volume control. Paint was peeling off of the walls. AC only worked on high and had to be unplugged underneath to turn it off (impossible to regulate temperature). Facility: There were old mattresses left outside leaning against the building. There were piles of junk/garbage piled up behind the bulletproof glass front counter at check-in. I do not recommend staying here.

Review 13:Can't think of anything..

Review 14:My room was dark on one side i.e. lamp with bulb that didn't work. Informed manager, but it was not repaired. Room was small and looked cheap.

Review 15:I stayed an extra day and was moved to a much nicer room.

Review 16:No shops or restaurants nearby. I went for shopping by tram.

Review 17:Budget hotel compared with expensive downtown hotels. 24Hr Tram station within a few minutes walk.

Review 18:The towels smelled like cigarettes. When I told people where we were staying, they said that it was a shady location, but I never directly witnessed anything shady.

Review 19:I was looking for an inexpensive option for a friend and I traveling to MN & this was a good choice. It was near the airport and close to the light rail. The room was fine. Nothing fancy, but it had a microwave, fridge, TV, & our rate included wifi that mostly worked.

Review 20:WiFi inconsistent. I don't need to watch video but I do need to check email and use other business apps. Bed too soft for my taste.

Review 21:Great location: quick walk to Blue line train

Review 22:It was dirty, not well kept up, loud we were put on side where trainruns all night although there were other rooms available, This was nota good night for us. We expect way more. The bathrooms need workplaster or dry wall missing. This motel needs a redo We will not bestaying again.

Review 23:Location to va hospital

Review 24:The room smelled liked cigarette so make sure you get no-smoking if that bothers you.

Review 25:The staff was friendly and the location was great for purposes of my trip. The room was comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help me out when I needed something.

Review 26:* The Blue Line light rail runs alongside, so there was a little train noise. But didn't prevent me from falling asleep. *The heater was functional but loud. * A police cruiser came by as I was checking in, and the officer related that they always come around because there have been "incidents."

Review 27:* A decent rate without having to journey well into the burbs. Was also close to where my daughter lives! *Building seemed chintzy on the outside, but the room was clean and comfortable, with no nasty surprises. *Bed was comfortable, and sheets were as clean as anyplace I've ever stayed at.

Review 28:I have never been in such a disgusting, creepy, crack house in my life.It took us about 5 minutes of examining the room before we left and wentto find a real hotel (which, btw, this dung-heap charged us $90 for 1night, ended up staying at the Airport Hilton for $109).The clerk behind the inch-thick bullet proof glass put us on the second floor despite the fact that we were the only ones there. We then discovered there was no elevator. One narrow stairway. Like one person at a time narrow. Sheets were stained, featuring a number of shades of brownish. Metro rail tracks DIRECTLY outside the window (ever seen the Blues Brothers movie where Jake & Elwood's apartment has an L-train running directly by their window? Yeah, it was like that.). The shower walls were WOOD PANELING! Anyway, we beat it out of there toot-sweet. Had an excellent night at the Hilton. Avoid this place unless you're looking for a private place to go on a meth bender. Gross.

Review 29:Nothing!

Review 30:The proximity to the light rail train made sleeping a little hard. Use the heat/ac unit to help drown out the noise!

Review 31:Good value for the money! Front desk staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 32:Wall outlets too loose to hold plugs for phone and tablet chargers. Lightbulbs burnt out in one of the lamps.

Review 33:Excellent location, close to airport and services.

Review 34:The wi-fi does not work so well in the room The bed was not so good for sleeping , its too floppy

Review 35:It's pretty near the rail It's clean The staff is helpful

Review 36:2nd worst bed I ever slept [tried to] on. Furniture was below third rate, the table used as a desk was wobbly and the foldable suitcase caddy was unusable, as one leg was bent. The bedspread had a hole in it and the pillows were rock-hard. Toilet was the lowest I've ever seen, made for people under four feet, and amenities included just one small bar of soap.

Review 37:location was where I needed to be

Review 38:When I arrived I was charged more than what I booked the room for, but was in no position to argue. The hotel in general and the room itself required maintenance, for example the shower tap not being attached to the actual shower - requiring me to manually hold it in place while trying to simultaneously turn it. But the worst part was the nearby metro station. Once the train starts running (very early in the morning) the noise from the rail crossing was extreme and frequent, ruining any chance of a good nights sleep. I saw a previous review note this but thought it wouldn't bother me as I am typically a heavy sleeper, but that turned out to not be the case.

Review 39:I was bumped for a flight out of Minneapolis and had to find a place to stay as the airline had no rooms available to them. This was the only place that fit my budget that had rooms near the airport. I booked the room online and took a taxi there. The location was pretty good as it was right by a metro station (which was convenient for going back to the airport the next morning). The room had air conditioning, a large bed (which was comfortable) and seemed fairly clean.

Review 40:The beds did not have fitted sheets. By the end of the night we were both sleeping on a bare mattress. I assume all guests before us were also sleeping on the same bare mattress.

Review 41:The price was reasonable.

Review 42:the first room's bathroom faucet was very loose in the sink. was given another room. stains in the carpet, moldy aroma pervades building

Review 43:relatively quiet, even with the surface tram periodically passing by.

Review 44:The shower/tub really needed to be recaulked. Moldy. Smelly. The room was right next to the train.

Review 45:The bed was great. The staff friendly and helpful. We liked the fridge and microwave. Room was good size.

Review 46:No coffeepot, few towels, motel was rundown (carpets stained, sink needed chalking, table was wobbly, blankets had cigarette burns), nothing to eat. Price was too high for the place. If it had been closer to $50......would have expected less.

Review 47:Location to the Blue Line.

Review 48:It's a bit musty. Some strong smells at times.

Review 49:Down the road from state park. Down the road from tram station. Down the road from bike rental (nice ride!)

Review 50:They did not speak English, no staff around at all. Was the worst part of trip, and I paid for a night I did not stay there. What a waste of money.

Review 51:Absolutely nothing

Review 52:I believe it was over priced.

Review 53:Close to blue line stop. It does give you the capabilities to stay in town without using a rental. Fly in take the blue line from the airport straight to your motel.

Review 54:Not enough towels in room fridge didn't work told desk never fixed

Review 55:Price

Review 56:The shower water is too hot.

Review 57:It is close to the train station and very convenient to go to downtown.

Review 58:Location was good for where I was visiting. The room was spacious.

Review 59:Dirty room, building, and grounds. Found cigarette butts in the nightstand.

Review 60:Quiet location, friendly staff.

Review 61:Comfy bed

Review 62:The wifi didn't work and the room had a smell to it

Review 63:The bed was comfortable

Review 64:Very expensive place, considering what they offer. There was no free drinking water nor coffee. The staff attitude was poor.

Review 65:Close to train for downtown Minneapolis

Review 66:We wanted walking distance to TCF Google said it was ! Not true!!

Review 67:It was just we wanted ! A shower and a bed !!

Review 68:Right by the 24-hour rail line. Quiet as hell area.

Review 69:Bed smelled like peed

Review 70:Close to airport

Review 71:Though my friend and I arrived late, we were all accommodated for and the tenant was really nice.

Review 72:Bed was too hard, noisy neighborhood. No shuttle to the airport.

Review 73:Didn't really like anything

Review 74:close to airport, 3 min walk from Blue Line VA station

Review 75:Room condition (paster, moulding, etc.), train tracks right outside window

Review 76:Friendly staff, able to check in late

Review 77:Dirty, Smelly, The noisiest place I have ever stayed in

Review 78:Managed to get a nights refund after checking out a day early.

Review 79:Dirty towel in shower bed was Very uncomfortable

Review 80:Train a little noisy Old facilities

Review 81:Proximity to train and Minnehaha Park Price

Review 82:Look at the room first. The first one was dirty. The second was better.

Review 83:location for me and price

Review 84:Staff gave me special help in storing my motorcycle over night in hallway. Very much appreciated!

Review 85:Everything

Review 86:nothing

Review 87:It had a microwave and fridge but no coffee maker? No

Review 88:Liked the access to the Metro station. The bed was comfortable.

Review 89:noise

Review 90:The tram boom gates could be a little noisy at first but you get used to it.

Review 91:Value Close to light rail Helpful staff Quality of room

Review 92:Somewhat outdated

Review 93:Most of all it was a good value, Fair location, clean room, room was a good size

Review 94:Everything was fine.

Review 95:Location

Review 96:The smell was bad at first but once you turn AC on it cleared up. No food services around. Both menus she gave me from front desk for local eateries closed early and major pizza chains told me the propietor did not let them deliver to his hotel. Vending items were stale tasting.

Review 97:We rode the lightrail and the location was perfect from that aspect but as far as food, grocery store, c-store you are out of luck. The bed was the only inviting thing. It was fairly new with nice clean linens.

Review 98:Towels weren't clean, pillows were hard, front desk was tough to communicate with, and the hotel was just cheap overall. Still for $80 a night, would probably stay again.

Review 99:Good location, nice to have a microwave and fridge. Room actually larger than expected, especially for the money.

Review 100:Bad wi-fi signal. I had to go out into the corridor to send an important email. The shower is awkward.

Review 101:As everyone else has said, the location is excellent. Neighborhood is quiet. The motel is very close to VA Medical Center rail station. Room is large enough and bed is comfortable.

Review 102:Too much for the room ! You walk in and the smell just chokes you table and chairs need to be replaced micro and fridge need replacement... rusty fridge looked like room wasnt vacuumed and carpet falling apart ..shower was disgusting everytime you walkin the bathroom it smell like mold !lamps falling apart ! Tv volume didnt work ! And she had the nerve to ask if my kids would make a mess with popcorn !! Really ??? Wish I could have left but didnt have a choice since I was stuck in the city ... and too late to drag my children around !!!

Review 103:The airconditioner

Review 104:The Motel was filthy. I've never seen a carpet more dirty than this one... The train was running every 15 minutes in front of the window. The room smell and we need to sleep with the window open so, with the train running, was really difficult to had some rest.

Review 105:Kindly staff and good location. Good price.

Review 106:The Rooms could have been much cleaner - TV, microwave, little refrigerator could have been dusted and cleaner. The place could be a great place to stay but it needs a major overhaul.

Review 107:I liked that it was to close to the light rail and had access to airport and other close things

Review 108:price differential upon arrival from on-line quote. DEFINATELY NEED COFFEE!! ;-)

Review 109:desk agent is beautiful and so is her attitude. safe environment, clean comfortable rooms.

Review 110:It was comfortable, some friends of mine went to stay there and we liked it, when you want something not too expensive and simple in the good way you should choose it.

Review 111:A microwaveable cup would have been nice. (no coffee pot, etc.) WiFi was sometimes good, sometimes could not get signal.

Review 112:Location! 3 minute walk from Light Rail station. My room was clean. Fridge and microwave. Less than 10 minutes from the airport via Light Rail.

Review 113:door to the bathroom did not shut properly, bed linen and sheets really old and worn (even when clean), heater quite loud (and had to be on all night as it was 17 below!)

Review 114:location right by the light rail was a huge plus, overall the furniture in the room was old but all was clean and in working order (except for the fridge which they replaced for me the same night I called them)

Review 115:The carpet looked dirty especially around the edge and the doors desperately needed to be repainted and adjusted, there was a big gap between the frame and the door. I could see the light in the hallway. It did not make me feel secure. Also the hallways looked dingy and unkept. Overall it was ok for 1 night, but for $80 I expected a better room. The hotels around the airport are much better and cheaper. I picked this hotel because it is very close to my family's home and the Lightrail. But the stop is further than stated and I did not feel safe to walk it in the dark and cold, so I ended up renting a car anyway.

Review 116:The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The room appeared clean until you looked on the floor

Review 117:Very good experience; helpful, kind staff went out of their way to help me get to where I was going the next morning! The room was warm and comfortable, which was a relief after coming in from unusually cold weather outside!

Review 118:I could have used a cup of coffee right after getting up.

Review 119:Bright lights beside the bed; the speed with which the heater worked; the willingness of the desk clerk to drive me to the airport if the cab didn't show up (however, the 2nd one called did).

Review 120:Room smelled like a dirty diaper.old toothbrush on floor near bed.still there after they made bed.we stayed 2 days.York for floor in bathroom was dirty our strained real bad.

Review 121:Location WAs good for or purpose

Review 122:I was in two different rooms, both had funny smells like they had been smoked in and it was being covered up. The walls are thin and there was some kind of party going on in the room next to mine in the first room I was in. The guy was nice enough to move me to another room, but for the price, this hotel is pretty run-down and feels a bit seedy.

Review 123:This hotel is very convenient if you want to be near the airport. It's easy walking distance from a stop on the Blue Line that is very close to the airport.

Review 124:Broken furniture, mold in shower, no fitted sheets on mattress, ended up with bare mattress at head end first night.

Review 125:Price, friendly staff, AC worked great.

Review 126:The many comforts include a friendly and helpful staff, comfy bed, cold room ac, cable tv, internet, fridge, microwave, great water pressure and an abundance of hot water. Located 2 short blocks from Minnehaha Falls Park (acres of hiking, biking, walking trails, & waterfall). Great value and experience. Thanks so much.

Review 127:the bathroom was poor the towels were stained the hallway carpet was worn out the reception desk was very poor and access to it was too small to wheel in a suitcase. no elevator for the second floor

Review 128:the location right next to the metro the price was fair

Review 129:The bed was so old springs where sticking out. Light rail ran just outside the door making sleeping tough

Review 130:Location. Near parks and close in to the city.

Review 131:Manager behind bulletproof glass always a bad sign. Place is worn out. Fellow guests a motley crew

Review 132:Close to blue line from airport to downtown. Mattress was firm. Smelled of disinfectant, which is better than alternative .

Review 133:cheap and so close to VA hopsital which was very important to me, the management was very friendly, grated its not the Hilton, or airport area motels, BUT neither was the price, so would I stay again, most certainly

Review 134:There aren't any restaurants around, but seriously the light rail station is very close. You can take the light rail to Mall of America, it's like 10 minutes and you can eat pretty well there:)

Review 135:people working there are very nice!!! It's very comfort and quiet, only sometimes when the light rail comes there will be little sound. But you can talk to front desk and probably they will switch a room for you.
