Reviews for Best Western Plus The Normandy Inn & Suites
Review 1:No negatives here other than the King size bed mattress had serious dips on both sides.
Review 2:Clean room and public areas. Downtown location with on site parking. Helpful staff. I personally like the bed pillows - my wife could care less. Will stay again on our next visit.
Review 3:My $10 Bloody Mary at breakfast which was nothing more than tomato juice with a splash of vodka.
Review 4:The beds were awesomely comfortable. Amenities were abundant and the restaurant and bar were a bonus.
Review 5:This property was very clean, quiet and comfortable with large up-dated rooms. Convenient and inexpensive parking was a great plus. Good restaurant.
Review 6:Our room needed updating (remodeling) but other rooms may be better.
Review 7:Great value for the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room service was quick and efficient.
Review 8:The night staff checked us in for 1 day even though we had a 2 day reservation. We had to re-validate our key the following day to get into our room. Our room as facing the swimming pool and hot tub and we could not open the blinds. Seeing people in the pool was not the view we were expecting. The room was noisy and we could hear people in the pool and in the hallway. No coffee in the room
Review 9:Location was within reach of most downtown places
Review 10:Parking/leaving the hotel was a bit tricky since it's downtown, but for where it's at its actually the best it could be and a STRETCH to call it something we didn't like.
Review 11:Everything was perfect at this hotel. Great staff, comfy beds, CLEAN hotel, amazing rates and even free cookies at night!
Review 12:Great location, friendly staff, the atmosphere was relaxed and we loved the freshly baked cookies and milk in the evenings. The restaurant and bar were great and the room was large and nicely equipped.
Review 13:Clean, Well lit, very helpful staff, plenty of outlets for electronics (the outlets and USB charging built in to the furniture was a really nice touch)
Review 14:Nothing to complain about really. The television reception on a few channels was wonky but didn't bother me enough to even ask about. I mentioned it at checkout and they logged it immediately for a repair call
Review 15:Great location downtown near light rail station and convention center. Clean facility with spacious room and comfortable beds. Older building had some character, a pleasant difference from most chains. Nice staff, on site restaurant with a decent menu but didn't have a chance to try it
Review 16:We were attending a concert at the Target Center, the hotel did provide a shuttle but if you don't mind walking its not to far. The staff were happy to draw maps on how to get us there and also honest with the fact due to the shuttle going to different events and traffic the shuttle was going to be about 45 minutes each trip. We opted for the 15-20 minute walk. The rooms were clean and comfortable! There was a nice bar/restaurant in the hotel that we were told everything in the restaurant is made from scratch (didn't get a chance to try it). Overall great place and would stay there again
Review 17:Elevator was small and warm. Hallways didn't seem to have a/c working. Location was further than expected from locations we visited. Construction traffic resulted in us walking rather than using van service.
Review 18:Reasonably priced and clean. Friendly staff. In room small refrigerator. Van service to venues.
Review 19:We are used to motels probividing free hot breakfast. A breakfast voucher for the restaurant would be nice.
Review 20:Super nice staff. Great restaurant. Beautiful rooms.
Review 21:The walk to the elevator was lengthy. We were in one of the wings and the parking lot was closest to the other.
Review 22:Felt old world and cozy, with the bustling city near enough. The atmosphere of the Normandy was quiet and restful. It was a lovely change from the usual urban chain hotel.
Review 23:Found out that there was an extra fee if I wanted to "park my car" during my stay. Well since I could nat take it in my room i guess i was stuck.
Review 24:Hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly. Onsite restaurant was excellent.
Review 25:I got yelled at for playing the piano, haa haa put up a sign saying we cannot play :)
Review 26:We went down to the restaurant for breakfast, the food was great, awesome service.
Review 27:The staff were not personable. Rarely was I greeted when I walked into the motel. there were even times when I could see that front desk staff were on thier computers watching Youtube. They rarely smiled, and I got the impression much of the staff did not want to be there.
Review 28:The location was great. The overal comfort of the facillities were great.
Review 29:When we returned from the Twins game, a loud group of young adults was in the lobby. 3 more got off the elevator, smelling of cigarettes. Shortly after we got to our room, we discovered they were all in a suite next to us. After we complained to the hotel desk staff, most of them were told to leave. How did so many get into that room with no one noticing? The parking area is in back, allowing guests to unload and enter the hotel. From there it a short walk to the elevator, never passing the front desk. Easy to sneak in.
Review 30:The king suite was wonderful. Sitting room had a sink, couch, chair, and small table with chairs, microwave, and coffee maker. King bed was very comfy, with a good assortment of pillows.
Review 31:Te elevator was out of service during our weekend stay. The reply we got was: "This is a weekend. We are trying to have it repaired but..." So we had to climb the stairs all the time. The front desk staff gave us a free drink coupon, which did not include cocktails. It was quite an inconvenience.
Review 32:The room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. They have a nice indoor pool. There is a cozy bar on the ground floor with very helpful staff.
Review 33:I called prior to arriving and asked for a room near family members. They agreed but when I arrived they would not do it since one had a king room the other a queen. They said they were fully booked but that seemed very suspicious since there were very few in public areas.
Review 34:The Normandy is a great play to stay, and we've done so for many years whenever we are in Minneapolis. It's accessible, the staff is helpful, and we love the location.
Review 35:Early calls by housekeeping staff to clean the room. For goodness sake.......we're on holiday. We don't need 8.00 am calls for housekeeping to do their job - which they did well we have to say.
Review 36:Very efficient and knowledgeable reception team The trappings of opulence everywhere in the hotel Beds were too soft for us but they would have been very comfortable for many folk, I'm certain. Wifi was excellent. Location was superb. The four star hotel at affordable prices The restaurant was good and the bar was very homely.
Review 37:I called to order room service on Sunday night-only to be told they were closing because they only had 3 diners come in the last hour. It wasn't even 9PM yet!!!! It was my husband's BD weekend so that bummed me out. Luckily he found someone to deliver food to us.
Review 38:The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Stately, and immaculate. The furnishings...perfection. And all of the staff seemed to really enjoy our being there. It was money very well spent for my husband's birthday gift!
Review 39:Water pressure in shower was very poor this stay. This was not a problem on any previous stay. Will consider it a one-time issue for now.
Review 40:I've stayed at this BW location many times in the past 7-8 years. It's not luxurious, but it is clean, spacious, comfortable, above average in many aspects and most importantly convenient and consistent for downtown Minneapolis.
Review 41:Next-door neighbors were quite loud. The main entry doors closed at 2AM and we needed to buzz in.
Review 42:The hotel was beautiful, the pool was fantastic, attached restaurant, free wifi, and free cookies & milk. How can you go wrong?
Review 43:The house keeping was very good. The people at the desk were very friendly. The hotel had one room for tv and eating and another room that had a bedaand a big bathroom.
Review 44:On weekends, if you have a room with window over the pool, except to hear screaming kids until the pool closes at 11:00.
Review 45:Was traveling alone for business and suffering from illness so I needed extra comfort and quiet, with food brought to room. Room was very comfortable and room service prompt. Good food, nice selection. Easy location. Reasonable rates.
Review 46:Beds were too soft to our liking but overall a good experience.
Review 47:Helpful staff, good location for concert at Target Center and nice, modern rooms. Appreciated refrigerator but could change location of safe and add microwave.
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:I called before we arrived to arrange a surprise for my husbands birthday and spoke with Cody. He went above and beyond and made sure things were perfect
Review 50:No room service after 10PM but I called at 930PM and staff was gone - I had to go downstairs, order my meal and bring it up myself in room. Plastic forks and knives and food in cartons, no dishes.
Review 51:Location, value for money.
Review 52:The reception was most welcoming and the cost of parking was most reasonable. The entry and exit from parking during the stay was easy. The shower had excellent pressure and the pool and hot tub were pleasing.
Review 53:Shouldn't need 2 request that families not share a connecting door with a business traveler. Baby noise???
Review 54:Location, price & cleanliness, plus old world charm and the water filter with never ending water.....
Review 55:We had an enjoyable stay at the Best Western Normandy Inn and Suites in Minneapolis. The staff and accommodations were great. I will definitely stay there when we come back to Minneapolis in a few months when we visit our grandaughter in college. Best Western really was the BEST.
Review 56:the breakfast is not so good, which should be ordered and don't have many choices
Review 57:good location, which is near the main street, shopping plaza as well as the convention center.Good staff !
Review 58:When checking in our luggage sat in the hallway awaiting securing until after the game unattended by staff for an extended period, although the front desk was very busy.
Review 59:The hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis in that it is only three blocks from a light rail station and within walking distance of many fine restaurants and sports bars. The parking cost is cheap and close to the facility.
Review 60:nothing
Review 61:Our room was massive. It had a seperate lounge and kitchenette.....lovely. A shower to die for that could fit 6 (not that we tried!) A short walk from nicolette mall via path or skyway. 10pm cookie and milk....yum! Great bar.
Review 62:Your heating/cooling systems are pretty loud, so if you are not sleeping, you do really notice when they come on.
Review 63:The staff is always great, very friendly, rooms are clean, location is perfect and the price is right.
Review 64:Restaurant & drinks are very, very expensive. Not sure why the next night (Thur) was priced at $125/night, on their website as my rate was $158 the Wed night before. With tax it was $180. Free internet was nice although it signal strength was low-med in my room and was not stable connection. Had a $25 chicken dinner, that was the size of a small quail. Tasty, but super tiny size, so I ordered a large Mac n' cheese that was good, but it added another $14 to the dinner. Its a few blocks away from the Main core of downtown, bring your sneakers!
Review 65:Staff very helpful, friendly, well groomed, professional, & knowledgeable. I wanted to tour downtown & Mississippi River so they had maps, and showed me where to go (my 1st time to Minnesota). Loved the 10pm cookies & milk! The pitcher in my suite was a nice feature so you could fill up with free filtered water in the hallway next to ice machine. Chicken Dinner was tasty, but super $$$$. Free internet!
Review 66:Problems with temperature and after hours dining when asked directed us to a supplier who didn't even deliver to that organization
Review 67:Free shuttle to the event
Review 68:Bed and pillows were very awful hardly slept the one night we stayed there. No continental breakfast of any kind. And looks like you had to buy for coffee in the morning. I would not recommend this hotel for comfort and breakfast. That was just awful and I probably would never stay there again. Staff and all employees we interacted with were excellent just the price for you pay the guest should get a free breakfast and free coffee and other commendations
Review 69:Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. Very clean
Review 70:the location is good, easy to walk around or to take public transportation. the room was clear and quiet. staff were friendly and, when unexpected thing happened, their response was quick and satisfying. the swimming pool and spa were nice, too! :)
Review 71:Unfortunately, we were awoken early from kids at the pool (our room was pool side). I would recommend asking for a room on the other side if you want a bit of a quieter stay.
Review 72:The Best Western Normandy Inn and Suites was a great, comfortable place to stay. We stayed in hopes of going to a baseball game–the hotel had a free drop off and pick up shuttle, so it worked out great, though the stadium was only 6 or so blocks. The fresh chocolate chip cookies and milk was a great addition to the night.
Review 73:The wifi connection was absolutely terrible! It should be better, especially with all of the traveling business people that the convention center brings around!
Review 74:The beds were super comfortable
Review 75:Adjoining rooms are far from sound-proof. That was painfully evident when the noisy guests next door came in very late and it seemed they were in the room with us as they boisterously when they got up early in the morning. We could hear every word of their conversation and then some.
Review 76:The hotel was conveniently located within easy walking distance of dozens of great restaurants, the Foshay Bldg., the LRT and the Nicollet Mall. Parking was relatively inexpensive for downtown and had unlimited in and out privileges. Lobby access from the parking lot was handy and there were plenty of luggage carts available. The fridge was a bonus, But the best feature of all was the genuinly friendly and helpful staff.
Review 77:It was so nice to park the car and just walk and what a beautiful one it was! The girl at the front desk was very helpful It was a very nice facility!
Review 78:The bathroom was quite small...but it was very clean. While the restaurant off the lobby was convenient...the cost of breakfast ($34) on our 1st full day kept us from going there again.
Review 79:The staff at the Normandy were incredibly helpful & friendly! It was so quiet & the beds were so comfortable that we all slept like a log during our stay.
Review 80:Very poor shuttle service for Twins games. No shuttle offered to the Mall of America. Was charged 8$ a day for parking on their lot. Thought the price of the room should have included the parking since the facilities were dark and dingy, especially the front lobby and hallways. It was super warm in the hallways too! Not at all impressed!
Review 81:The location.
Review 82:One small issue was that our room smelled just a bit like garam masala. After a couple of minutes, I didn't notice it anymore until the next time I walked in from being out. Not an unpleasant smell, really, but a bit odd.
Review 83:The staff was very helpful. When a local friend arrived on his bike and didn't want to leave it locked on the street, the desk clerk offered to put it in the luggage room. That meant we could all go off to the game with no worries. Great shuttle service too.
Review 84:Bar closed to early. Went to the Twins game and was up for a beer after the game and by the time we got back, the bar had closed already.
Review 85:Staff was amazing and helpful.
Review 86:The hotel is an updated, rambling structure, with at least three separate buildings. This is probably the reason why some (at least) rooms have poor wi-fi reception. I had to visit reception twice, the second time with my laptop, before the receptionist was able to establish a connection using the password provided. And this was achieved only by repeated attempts to log in, something I could have done if the receptionist had admitted there were occasional internet problems rather than implying that nobody else had ever had problems and that it was somehow my fault or that of my computer. During our stay the internet connection dropped out several times. On checking in there was only one receptionist to handle a growing number of guests, while a second receptionist continued a long telephone conversation. Ultimately, there were three receptionists at work, but I noticed that each one, on some occasion, left a guest midway through checking in while he or she dealt with some unrelated problem.I was given no useful information at check-in, but did not ask questions because other guests were waiting. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no information in the room other than the evacuation procedure, the TV channels and a room service menu. (This was how we learned that the hotel had a restaurant.) I could not locate an ice machine so was forced to wait in line at reception in order to ask for directions. I also asked why there was no information in the room (the first occasion on our trip) and was told this was because the receptionists were concierges and could answer any questions. The street map provided on request was such a poor copy that most of the street names were illegible.Subsequently, I had pleasant and informative conversations with other reception staff, which enabled me to grade staff as fair rather than poor.I may have been unlucky at check-in because the lobby was busy.
Review 87:This was the 24th hotel on our present road trip, and would have been our best stay if the reception staff had been better trained. We booked a studio suite that turned out to be a fine, comfortable one bedroom apartment (without cooking equipment or facilities). The king bed was great, the bathroom the best of our trip - and could be improved only by the addition of a cupboard. The adjoining car park is another plus. The hotel has a quality restaurant that is a bit pricey and apparently has no dress code.
Review 88:All was terrific!

Review 114:Easy to get to parking lot. Rooms were very clean.
Review 115:The pool was FREEZING, and I do wish they had a continental breakfast.
Review 116:I loved the room was clean and fancy, plus the pool area was very nice as well.
