Reviews for Nassau Inn

Review 1:The town was a little noisy to wake up to. And it was a bit expensive for the size of the room.

Review 2:Everything was very nice. The staff were personable and the location is wonderful.

Review 3:It is rare these days to find a hotel in this type of location and at this price point that would charge nearly $12 for wifi. The parking fee was not really less than I would have been charged had I not been staying at the hotel, even though the available lot was merely a public parking facility. There was quite a bit of black mold in the shower and their was a very large, human-shaped grease stain on the chair in our room. When we arrived, most of the rooms we passed on the way to ours had dirty dishes and empty wine glasses outside the doors as if they'd been collecting for hours. I understand it is an historic hotel, but it could do with better cleaning and should comp the wifi like most other hotels do now.

Review 4:The location was perfect for visiting my nephew, who is a Princeton student, and having my son tour the campus. Shopping and restaurants were all close by and excellent. The beds were comfortable.

Review 5:Hated being at the very end of a super long hallway without an elevator in sight.

Review 6:The suite was outstanding and the king bed luxurious! The Tap Rooms pretty great! And the location provides a plethora of options.

Review 7:The exercise room needs a facelift and a bigger room with more equipment.

Review 8:The location cannot be matched if you want to be close to the Princeton campus!

Review 9:The robes were ripped and the blind handle was broken. Minor details that can be fixed. It does not change my opinion of the Inn and its' offerings.

Review 10:My wife and I love the beds, they are so comfortable. The history of the Inn also delights us. And, the food at the Taproom is amazing!

Review 11:We ordered an electric scooter for my father and the hotel accepted the delivery and return so he could use it through the entirety of his stay! That made me feel so much more comfortable. The staff even helped us figure out how to use it!! Room service was on time and delicious! Yummy!

Review 12:The lamps and lights were few and inadequate. The bathroom worked fine for me - I need grab bars, but it was primitive compared to chain hotels. No comfortable chair to sit. Mobile phones don't work in rooms or restaurant. No comfortable chair.

Review 13:The location was critical for me and perfect. The staff the food in the pub was excellent in some cases - breakfast yogurt an d calamari, for example.

Review 14:Location of this hotel in central Princeton cannot be beat. The rooms are a little small for the two large beds but everything you need for a very pleasant stay is provided and the beds are extremely comfortable

Review 15:The hotel should not charge for Wi-Fi.

Review 16:The Nassau Inn is the real deal. It's not a corporate hotel or part of a worldwide chain. It's a one-off, local establishment that is very nicely appointed and is perfectly located in the heart of town, near everything.

Review 17:Wifi should not be charged in the rooms, or not at this price. This is a major drawback for the place.

Review 18:Nice and friendly staff, well located if you are to work on Princeton campus or have a car, slightly isolated otherwise. Some historic charm.

Review 19:The bed is too soft, you could hear everything outside the window (fortunately not much goes on in this small town), I couldn't figure out how to turn the air conditioning down (up?) to a reasonably warm temperature – I have a PhD from MIT, I can usually work these things out, but not here. Why do hotels think you want the room at 70 when it's 95 outside and you are dressed for that? I was totally freezing at breakfast.

Review 20:This is the only hotel easy walking distance from Princeton. The people are friendly, the building is kind of cool, the bathrooms are nice. You can actually ask for substitutions on the breakfast even though they say you can't as long as you keep it reasonable.

Review 21:I had problems connecting to your wifi -- I travel on business constantly and am adept at this, but I had delays and problems getting connection at Nassau Inn. This is a real issue for business travelers.

Review 22:Great location. Nice staff. Good Hotel.

Review 23:Bad service- charged us extra $30 by mistake for room service that was ordered by other guest. They refused to reimburse us until next week. We argued with them for over 30 an hour- and left the hotel without a promise that we will get our money back. Charged $10 for internet service which is expected to be for an hotel that cost over $230 per night. Breakfast for the family was $60 so we decided not to take it. Better to choose air B&B in Princeton since Nassau Inn is a very bad option. .

Review 24:Great Location

Review 25:No bad experiences other than our room wasn't available when we got there (two weddings the previous day had gotten the best of the staff, but it was no big deal.

Review 26:The ambiance was very good once you are settled in. Check in area is small and a little chaotic, front entry is crowded, but well handled by the bell staff. The room was outstanding and the bath room very functional.

Review 27:Aircon too high in halls. Paid WIFI really poor. Bar staff very unhelpful. Reception helpfully advised taxi rate of $18-20 to Princeton junction but taxi charged $35!

Review 28:Lovely beds and room nice. Location terrific, reception staff friendly and helpful.

Review 29:Everything...the bed was great, the room was equipped with everything I needed to work on my computer and soak in the tub, the staff was very accommodating, and the location was superb!

Review 30:Hotel sent me an email in advance, offering a 20% discount on food and beverages during my stay. But the staff had never heard of it, and the bar manager refused to honor it.

Review 31:Convenient location.

Review 32:No view but we dont need it with lovely Princeton at our feet. Small gym, but you can do lots of walking.

Review 33:Location, staff, close to all shops, restaurants, university, all a short walk away. Rooms are clean, have a safe, lots of electrical sockets, strong shower.

Review 34:Didn't like paying for Wifi as all other hotels provide it free. Also the Wifi stopped working when you left your room so even though I paid for it, it wasn't easy to use.

Review 35:Very comfortable and friendly hotel situated in the heart of Princeton

Review 36:View from and location of room attractive. Good-sized, comfortable room. FAR down the hall, but good exercise walking there. Could do without ONLY Roaring 20's music in the lobby, but that's better than loud rock bands, etc. Surprised in the Yandee Doodle Tavern to find such delicious, healthy-seeming salads in the middle of the usual boring burgers and fries, etc. Great! YDT service, as with reception all excellent, although the place was not cleared of dishes and detritus on the tables, and we had trouble (with the place practically empty) finding a clean table at which to sit. Jessica at the front desk was very helpful and kind about hooking us up to the internet. All in all, a very pleasant experience in a great location (wouldn't have minded not having aloud fan/blower/furnace going all night even with the temp turned down to about 62). Thank you for the experience.

Review 37:The room itself was clean but during the course of my stay (4 nights total and two different areas of the hotel)-we found that room service trays sat outside doors for more than 24 hours. We would walk by the same tray of food during a 24 hour period and it was pretty gross. Especially since we would leave in the morning and come back in the evening and our room was cleaned. Hard to imagine housekeeping walking by the trays and ignoring them. That's our only complaint.

Review 38:This is a good hotel with decent rooms in a fantastic/convenient location for the price. Rooms were more updated than I expexted. Staff was friendly and bed comfortable. I'm an experienced traveler and this hotel was a pleasant surprise for what I initially expected.

Review 39:It was extremely warm in the room and the corridors (we stayed in early December). Bedlinnen was threadbare. A handle of the shutters fell off when we touched it. Internet must be bought separately. Breakfast was mediocre. The place has a monopoly within Princeton itself.

Review 40:Location: very easy walk to the university. Cosy entry area and lounge.

Review 41:a.c. was very noisy, kept coming on and off all night even though we changed the temp. room was hot. very noisy, people ouside the window at night were very loud. we were in room #256

Review 42:liked location, pub and room svc.

Review 43:temperature of room could not be adjusted - at times it became too warm. Bed too high for short people - and only one chair. Could not get Hallmark channel on TV. My daughter and I looked forward to watching Christmas movies in the evening.

Review 44:Staff was extrememly friendly and helpful. Loved the location. Impressed with the cleanliness of everything - elevators, corridors, rooms, etc. Food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 45:No bellboy when we arrived Asked for larger room when I booked over phone we got smallest room Very disappointing called for luggage rack they were out of them No one really carped dirty carpets all over

Review 46:Location

Review 47:A leftover food tray was left in front of my room when I checked in. It wasn't picked up until I said something 4 hours later.

Review 48:Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The room and bed were very comfortable.

Review 49:The fact that they charge for internet service. Add a few bucks to the room and make internet service available to all.

Review 50:The hotel is very nice and the bar in the lobby is a fun place to hang out. The location is perfect if you are visiting a Princeton student!

Review 51:Paying for Wi-Fi, the hotel is not cheap! Air-con was very loud, did wake me up a lot. My room was very dark, on the shaded side but with all the lights on still dark don't know what wattage bulbs were in the lamps. The room was a little bit tired looking.

Review 52:The location is very central and ideal for exploring. Once you are there you can walk around Princeton no need for a car. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 53:I have been trying to like the Nassau Inn for 35 years, and periodically give it another chance. Alas, it is always: dark, a little dingy, mildewy. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, and the decor dated. For a higher-priced hotel in a university town, to not have free internet is annoying. I really wish the management would renovate--or at least clean--this place. Barring that, I really wish there were another option in Princeton proper.

Review 54:It is ideally situated if you don't have a car in Princeton.

Review 55:The walls are paper thin. You can hear EVERYTHING. Otherwise, if there is no one next door to your room, it is a very quiet place. The room service was spotty. Sometimes we only got two towels, and the towels are thin and worn.

Review 56:Excellent location. Restaurants, shops and parking are within easy walking distance. The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The bed is firm, though the pillows are not.

Review 57:This is a sprawling place, with only a small portion in its historic original building. Despite a high daily rate, wi-fi is extra; there's also no breakfast included. The facilities are acceptable but in need of an update; we were surprised at only incandescent bulbs in our room and bathroom.

Review 58:It couldn't be more convenient to the center of Princeton. Desk staff were very pleasant and made a point of giving us a quiet location. There was coffee in the lobby on arrival.

Review 59:The bed was soft.

Review 60:Room was small and needed updating

Review 61:The bar and 2nd floor lobby although no drinks were allowed or served

Review 62:Needs valet parking, was cold and far to park and walk

Review 63:Quick check-in, comfortable and clean rooms, restaurant good

Review 64:Suttle musty smell in room but was very clean. Older hotel.

Review 65:Cozy, quaint, good location. Comfortable bed. Needed a comfortable chair in room.

Review 66:For such an expensive hotel, there were too many little charges - room service, Internet service.

Review 67:Beautiful hotel - location perfect

Review 68:Everything was perfect!! Loved our little getaway.

Review 69:Surly staff, tired room, hugely overpriced.

Review 70:Well located.

Review 74:Great location right in the center of town....beds were super comfortable!

Review 75:The internet/ wifi connection was horrible

Review 76:Staff was not helpful and unfriendly. Little Customer service skills.

Review 88:surprised we have to pay for parking

Review 89:i wanted to be close to princeton university and location of this hotel was amazing

Review 90:The Tap room needs a thorough cleaning - perhaps rehab and good food.

Review 91:The location and the beds!!

Review 92:Staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 93:It's crazy that you have no food avail anywhere, even granola bars, after 11 pm. This is a college town!

Review 94:I love the Nassau Inn

Review 95:our room seemed a little out dated. There was dust on tables and no tissues in bathroom.

Review 96:location!

Review 97:Small room, furniture a bit beaten up, limited fitness facility.

Review 98:Very helpful staff at front desk. They really seemed to care.

Review 99:I found the fact that I was charged for using my own computer in my room excessive in light of the charge for the room.

Review 100:You can use the free Wifi in the lobby. But you have to pay for the Wifi in the room.

Review 101:Location is really very good.

Review 102:Staff, Location, Cleanliness and comfort.

Review 108:the location was perfect.

Review 109:convenience meals- content and cost room comfort

Review 110:Hotel is 20th century; wifi is ludicrous; food is mediocre.

Review 111:Paying for parking and having to Walk back and forth to the garage. Paying for WiFi---only hotel I ever Had to do that.

Review 112:Front desk staff

Review 113:Wifi is terrible, in the room and especially in lobby, cell phone service is non-existent.

Review 114:Location, room is comfortable

Review 115:Maids cleaned nicely, but did not replenish used hotel supplied amenities I.e. Shower cap, cotton balls/Q-Tip pkg, etc.

Review 120:none

Review 121:Parking is not clear if it is valet parking upon arrival .

Review 122:Unhygenic lumpy bed pillow lacking pillow protector. No bar fridge.

Review 123:Great location.
