Reviews for Shilo Inn Suites Hotel - Portland/Beaverton
Review 1:Didn't like the fact that there aren't fitted sheets on the beds:(! ( king suites) morning waitress seemed to hate her job:( but most of the staff are really nice and accommodating!:)
Review 2:Staff is accommodating and friendly:)!! Our room was a decent price!
Review 3:Room was dusty/dirty, both lampshades were broken, there were stains on the bed, would have been nice to have utensils etc.
Review 4:Location was nice, staff friendly
Review 5:Had a lot of plumbing problems in the bathroom. There needs to be a desk and maybe a couch or chair in the room. There was plenty of room for it.
Review 6:Loved the bar and restaurant on site. Loved the grounds. Staff was very helpful and friendly
Review 7:Said I could pay cash upon check out and then charged my card. The breakfast in past stays was a great buffet and this time, McDonald's would have been much better.
Review 8:Fountain was pretty.
Review 9:The room was in fact a bit dated which I'm sure everyone says.
Review 10:I absolutely adored the staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. I'm very pregnant and was traveling with my toddler son, and the front desk and restaurant staff went above and beyond to make sure my little guy was happy and that I was taken care of. The room wasn't much to look at but the bed was comfy and the water pressure was great. I will definitely stay here again next trip.
Review 11:The only chairs to sit on were dining room type chairs.Curtain did not have an inner liner,so it was just opened or closed. No window to leave open for fresh air,you could lock the sliding glass door open a few inches. The tv was an old tube tv,not widescreen,no dvd player.
Review 12:location near the freeway was good. Looking out over the courtyard was nice.
Review 13:The bathroom floor wasn't really clean. Our room was on the first floor and the steps noises in the second floor were really annoying. There was little to no WiFi coverage in the room. However, they said that if we had said something, they could've fixed it.
Review 14:Great Location The breakfast was really good. It was fast. Also they have a lot of options in the menu but with an extra cost. The staff at the restaurant were really nice. Very beautiful gardens. The bar was pretty good and with good prices. Beautiful restaurant. Very good bang for your buck.
Review 15:We got there early and couldn't check in until 4 which we couldn't do because we had an event at 4 so changed clothes in our car in the parking lot. I understand having to wait awhile but thought the front desk could have been more accomodating.
Review 16:The room was very good and loved the grounds. Also thought the included breakfast at The Mark was outstanding.
Review 17:The free breakfast cost more than it was worth. While the food was okay, it took forever to get seated, then forever for coffee and other drinks to be offered, and then forever to take food orders, and forever to get the food. Rick kept telling us how busy they were, but, in fact, many empty tables and not more rush than you would anticipate. They certainly knew how many people were staying, so should have been able to anticipate their breakfast staffing needs. We decided it was better to go somewhere else to eat on day two. The "free breakfast" is only a few options or discount of full priced menu items. We were happy to pay for extras, but the facility missed out on revenue for second day because of our bad experience on the first day. (Six people in our party, two hotel rooms for two days)
Review 18:Comfortable bed, conveniently located.
Review 19:The second time we went to breakfast it was a Saturday morning, verybusy but not staffed appropriately. The 1 waiter was taking all theorders for every table and he was running around like a madd man. Hehandled himself very well :-) although highly over tasked. It would havebeen perfect if there we're at least two waiters/waitresses.
Review 20:First of all they gave us military discount, which took off a quite abit from the total price for the room. As well as the room was updatedvery nicely and the gazebo and pond area was beautiful. The restaurant,The Mark, attached to the hotel was very convenient and classy. It wasthe best free hotel breakfast I've ever had! Being served like I waspaying was amazing. Very accommodating staff and waiter, very pleasedwith everything!
Review 21:Room had an old/musty smell. Our room was up stairs with no elevator, difficult with large suitcases.
Review 22:Room as newly decorated. Had bar and restaurant on premises, along with pool.
Review 23:The loud party below us. The loud heavy footed woman above us that lefther tv on all night and very loud. The non-smoking room that justreeked of smoke.
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:Wasn't happy to see mold in shower area, and shower faucet extremely hard to pull out, really old. One of the two drinking glasses came with a crack in it. I was able to get wi-fi on the first day but not the 2nd day.
Review 26:Liked idea of free breakfast, but we had to wait to be seated in what looked like a very spacious and unpopulated dining room. Room was fine.
Review 27:Check in very slow! Badly stained carpet! Upgraded my room for 49.00 more and had a cleaner room with great view. I guess you get what you pay for!
Review 28:Very close to venue. Breakfast was great! Coffee was even better,
Review 29:Front desk staff was young, unprofessional and lacked leadership. Seems like hotel pays minimum wages to hire very young staff that need better training in the hospitality industry.
Review 30:Nice clean hotel in good location for what I came into town for.
Review 31:We never found the ice machine, the hotel map was a bit confusing.
Review 32:I couldn't hear my neighbors through the walls, the beds were comfortable, staff was helpful.
Review 33:We had an old room. Ask for something renovated or you will be disappointed.
Review 34:We were picking up a car, so the location was what made the decision to stay here.
Review 35:upon arrival they were sold out of room after booking a month in advance, and put 9 people 2 of whom are special needs in a two queen bed room. completely against fire code and then refused to put us up in another hotel. Very poor customer service
Review 36:The pool, it was hot out.
Review 37:No elevator. All vending machines sold out. Construction crew started working on room next door at 7am. Sketchy area. Drugs being sold in front of convenience store across street.
Review 38:Bed comfortable. Room clean and recently renovated.
Review 39:Everything was wonderful about our 5 night stay here! The room service was great; A.C. worked well, very clean overall; staff was great; good beds; breakfast was very good!
Review 40:The bed felt like a cot. And everything was very outdated, unfortunately our floor and room smelled like cigarette smoke.
Review 41:The pillows were wonderful, the courtyard is beautiful, it was in a great location right by a car rental company, and the breakfast was good!
Review 42:The housekeeping staff slow and overwhelmed. We couldn't check in till hours after check in. When we got back very late on first night they hadn't turned one of our rooms so we didn't get into it till midnight. Had to be up at 5 am. Unacceptable. Would have left if everywhere else hadn't been booked!
Review 43:Nothing it was a dump
Review 44:Drinks at breakfast not included. Light in bathroom came crashing down on me in the morning. Very dangerous had I been a child. Scary! Staff didn't compensate us and I felt they didn't care that it could have potentially been far worse!
Review 45:Staff welcoming. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. View from room excellent.
Review 46:The lobby was very outdated and smelled funky, apparently there's a cigar bar...most unpleasant. Also the pool was heated like a jacuzzi in the middle of summer.
Review 47:The room was very nice, really clean. We couldn't find an affordable room in POrtland but Beaverton wasn't half bad.
Review 48:Arriving at 9:30 pm for a check in (that is at 4:00) and being told the room wasn't ready and we would have to wait 20 minutes and we couldn't get in until 10:30. Didn't matter to them we'd driven 12 hours. Staff seemed uncaring and unapologetic about the whole ridiculous situation about taking 6 hours to have a room ready.
Review 49:Only used hotel for sleep
Review 50:The pancakes were hard on the edges.
Review 51:Nice room with balcony. Excellent view of fountain. Real glasses, no plastic. Two sinks. Excellent bed. Nice restaurant great service, great dinner. Breakfast buffet was OK
Review 52:The double bed room was somewhat expensive. The elderly lady at the front desk never smiled or greeted us.
Review 53:Clean rooms, nice garden and pool setting, and a complete breakfast Buffett. The two young men were very polite.
Review 54:Above the lobby desk is a cigar lounge--even though signs on front door & lobby counter Thanking us for not smoking. Found out it is one of the 4 allowed in the city. WARN US ON THE INTERNET OR ON THE FRONT DOOR PLEASE. Did not smell it in our room or restaurant. Also NO elevator.
Review 55:Restaurant was great. Service was superb.
Review 56:The bathroom had hair all over and was not cleaned for new arrivals. It would have been nice to have had a cleaner bathroom and a more comfortable bed.
Review 57:The pool was in a great spot and the surroundings were really pretty.
Review 58:The only complaint was the outlet plug. Our electronics would not stay plugged in very well. I did tell the front desk about this. I had a double queen bed room. One bed had a pillow top and was very comfortable but the other did not.
Review 59:Overall we enjoyed our stay. We weren't in our room much of the day, but did have all the amenities needed.Hairdryer, frig.,coffee maker and microwave.
Review 60:Breakfast buffet was unappetizing and cold. Restaurant, lounge and main entrance area - inside, were very dark and seemed musty even in the morning and at midday.
Review 61:Room was clean and well kept. Interior garden court and fountain were quite lovely. Unit was clean and very well kept. Regular breakfast menu servings were tasty and restaurant staff (servers, chef, etc) provided good, friendly, fast service.
Review 62:We were disappointed to find that the pool and spa were not available. This was one of the reasons we booked it. Wanted to let the kids unwind by swimming. Very disappointed, should have received a discount.
Review 63:Front desk required us to bring our credit card up to them after 1-2 hours of checking in because it "didn't take" the first time? House keeping failed to make up our room after the first night.
Review 64:The Wi-Fi worked.
Review 65:Went to the restaurant.asked for recommendations on apetizers. Ordered per waitress advice. Delivered us unacceptable food. Did not match her description.she went to the chef and he said that there would be an up charge to get what she described the dish to be. We told her that they just lost a customer.we were attending a professional function in Beaverton and we shared this horrible experience with many people. You can not afford this kind of treatment . the chef should be fired. The waitress felt horrible. But she only did what management told her to do. Will we stay again? Yes. Will we eat at your facility? No. End of story.
Review 66:The carpet in the room was bunched up, tripping hassardd, the rooms were old smelling. If it werre not for the frienly staff i would have left immediately and demanded my money back.
Review 67:The staff they were the only reason i did not leave immediately and go if a hotel 6 which would of had better rooms. I appreciated the staff's friendly and kind attitude.
Review 68:Found the odd carpenter ant crawling around. I realize that there was a forest around us. Could be an issue though.
Review 69:Clean, friendly and quiet over looking the pond. Perfect location for food, shopping, tourist spots that's not downtown. Great price.
Review 70:I booked at a shilo inn thinking that it was in portland like the namestates, wrong. It was in a small town called beaverton because the oneactually in portland was sold out. Turned into a booking nightmare as Ihad a hotel room that was over half an hour away from the event I wasattending for 10 days. This shilo inn is located between a paint storeand a strip club. Hope you like paint and tits because there'snothing, and I mean nothing else around this hotel. 0/10. Wouldnever recommend staying here to anyone.
Review 71:None of it
Review 72:The second sink was turned off because it leaked. The breakfast service took way too long because they were understaffed. Over an hour.
Review 73:Nice garden view and very roomy space.
Review 74:The Mark Restaurant should add oatmeal & toast to their free-for-guest breakfast. They only offer a small bowl of cold cereal for vegetarian patrons.
Review 75:Quiet, clean, comfortable, friendly.
Review 76:We had a no smoking room, or it was suppose to be. The room smelled of cigaretts, There were burn marks on the bathroom sink, burn holes in the bedspread. I hung my jacket over the chair in the room, and it smelled so much like smoke it had to be washed.
Review 77:It was close to the Moda Center
Review 78:Lumpy beds, bad odor, suspicious activity outside the hotel. Wouldn't want my kids staying there.
Review 79:Didn't stay after looking at the room. The manager handled my situation very well that's the only good thing about it.
Review 80:The hotel is pretty far out of Portland … and on a major thoroughfare, lined with strip bars and car dealerships. It is near a bus stop but the buses only go once per hour later in the evening (if you are returning from dinner in Portland) and thus you end up paying for taxis.
Review 81:I felt very welcomed by the staff throughout the hotel, including Reception, the Bar, and the Restaurant. My room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Overall, I'd say this is hotel is a good budget choice.
Review 82:Clean, comfortable, pleasant setting and friendly staff make this an excellent value for the money spent. We also enjoyed the warm and classy Lounge while we watched the College Basketball Tournament games on their multiple televisions. We will definitely stay here again when in the Portland area
Review 83:I booked my stay here because there was use of a hot tub. When I arrived it was "seasonal." Every other hotel says seasonal if the pool and hot tub are seasonal but you lacked to mention that in your ad. I'd give you a much higher score if you were honest.
Review 84:The view was amazing! You have a very beautiful courtyard and for $10 extra a night, it's worth it.
Review 85:We had to wait 4 hours with a 7 year and a 1 year old to check in so we went to drive around but if you go any where its a 20mim drive there in back not including bad traffic. I wouldn't recommend.
Review 86:The room was decent
Review 87:The cable was not properly.
Review 88:The staff was very kind and ready to help with no hesitation. Traveling with 2 young boys I'm glad they had the patience with these little guys talking and running around.
Review 89:Under the beds there was a lot of garbage that was disgusting. Apparently there was free breakfast for everyone and they just gave me one coupon of $3 off . If u don't want to give free breakfast don't tell costumer there is. And we waited 1 hour for breakfast to be serve and I saw the chef being mean to a client. It was my first time staying in that area I'm never going back again and will tell family and friends of everything do they are aware.
Review 90:We could over look the fact that the place needs updating because it was clean, close to where we needed to be and at check in they made us feel welcome. We were sound asleep and a car alarm went off and woke us up. When it did not silence we went to the desk and the response was what do you want me to do about it? We had suggestions there was no apology (we knew it wasn't his fault)just defiance. The alarm shut off but it happened again shortly and went off for another long period. We had a difficult time getting back to sleep and had a 7:00 lab test at the hospital. So now the lamp that didn't work and the fan that didn't work and the bad TV reception ticked me off and we won't overlook it or go back.
Review 91:Close to the veterans hospital and good rate especially when you are having ongoing treatment. Day staff was pleasant and the bar tender was sweet, attentive and food was good.
Review 92:Walking into lobby to check in & the stench of cigars hits you. Apparently they have a "special permit" for a cigar bar! Nasty!! The room is nice but the 1970 TV was quite a joke. Come on Shilo, a Flat screen TV would really make your price better to swallow!!
Review 93:Decent size room, bathroom very spacious.
Review 94:I liked that I was able to book the room and not have to pay for it until my departure. To me that was very user-friendly and the fact that I could cancel without any fees was excellent. It was a very positive experience :-)
Review 95:The hotel needs to have many upgrades. I'd start with the carpet. I felt I needed something on my feet at all times.
Review 96:Dennis made the difference for our stay. He was working the bar/ dining area on a very busy Christmas holiday.
Review 97:On a last minute enquiry, everything went so SMOOTH that it actually set the tone for our trip! For a short and last minute trip, you can reserve it while you're on the road. Take's less than 5 minutes while you begin to enjoy a busy and fun filled trip!
Review 98:Nothing!
Review 99:Easy on/off freeway..very quiet..most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming..room was beautiful! Very clean! I will stay here again!!
Review 100:My kids were disappointed that they took away the pancakes from the free breakfast options, but evidently the biscuits and gravy made up for it as they said that they tasted better than last time.
Review 101:I've stayed at this hotel many times before but the upgrades to the room were wonderful. The beds were so much more comfortable and the cleanliness was top-notch. Breakfast service was excellent and the maid service was great.
Review 102:This facility is in dire need of an update. Lampshades are torn, small hole in the chair seat. Metal keys...really?! TV was too small, not flat screen, reception poor.
Review 103:Staff at desk, bar and The Mark were extremely helpful and pleasant. Grounds were great although I did not like having to hike in the rain from our room to the Mark.
Review 104:Despite numerous calls to the front desk, I was unable to access the pay-movie channel to watch a movie (though the staff did try to fix the problem)
Review 105:Beautiful grounds, ample parking, in-room coffee pot, fridge, microwave. Very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom
Review 106:Poor location in the blocks preceding were several strip clubs. The hotel is run down, though it was no doubt lovely in her hay day.
Review 107:Good price, poor location. Breakfast would have been good if it hadn't been cold. Close proximity to zoo and garden.
Review 108:Rooms are severely outdated. Old style TV's. Pet friendly but no place to take your pet to relieve himself ($15.00 per night!)
Review 109:The landscaping was beautiful. Nice restaurant for breakfast, very convenient. It was clean.
Review 110:Place needs an over all update. Stained towels, floor tiles and shower. Drippy faucets and the hot tub needed cleaned big time (dead wasps and spiders came out of the jets)
Review 111:Really liked our balcony overlooking the pond.
Review 112:Needs updated. Facility shows its age. Old TV, & pretty slow internet, but was fine for our needs. Very thin quilt on the bed. We brought our own, so didn't ask for a thicker one. Lobby REEKS really bad of cigar smoke in the evenings. I mean, literally gagged me! The air conditioner/heater clunked all night, but we were told they were in the process of replacing them.
Review 113:Reasonably priced, clean & quiet room. Good location for Southwest Portland area. Fairly comfortable bed, and very comfy, thick feather pillows. Staff was very friendly at the front desk. Even though everything was really old, it was comfortable. Adequate parking lot, and felt safe & secure.
Review 114:At first, we were staying in the older section up near the road. We were put in the handicapped rooms. The carpets were filthy, I would not want to take my shoes off. When I went to complain and request another room, the response was these rooms are older. My response, older does not mean dirty. I have no problems with older rooms, but hen they are dirty, I refuse to stay. They gave me the room next to it, I went to that room, same thing, absolutely filthy carpet, just darker. I went back and complained again and, requested a room in the newer section. The lady at the desk readily moved us. This was very nice and acceptable. Then I went to get something to eat in the bar, as it was late. The lady at the bar took forever to come and take my order, then was doing housekeeping to close up the bar-it was not scheduled to close for over and hour. When I finally did get my food, and was ready to leave, I waited for 10 minutes at least for her, so I could pay. I finally wrote a check, just as I finished writing the check~she came, I told her I had written a check because I couldn't find her~ she argued that she had not been gone for more than a couple minutes and they didn't take checks. I was furious at her attitude, and because of these combined things, I will not be returning. We have stayed there many times before, as our son lives in the area, with not problems, but that will be our last visit to Shilo on Canyon Road.
Review 115:The new section was clean, comfortable and what I would expect in a motel. We had stayed there quite a few times before and had no problems.
Review 116:Slow restaurant service. no newspapers. Efficient staff but not cordial.. Very poor signage. slow draining sink and poorly flushing toilet. Rooms are dimly lighted. The amenities and small extras are not very good.
Review 117:Garden setting. Good price. Low price and good food in on-site restaurant. Comfy beds. Strong shower. Room service is inexpensive. The basics are all good.
Review 118:I was quoted $77 a night, and when I got my bill they charged me $109. Two days earlier there were other customers arguing with the front desk about the same thing.
Review 119:so many stairs, poor cable TV, food in restaurant is just okay...
Review 120:retro type facility... does need some sprucing up just to freshen up but interesting looking at all the old type of furnishings...the restaurant reminded us of an old ski lodge...
Review 121:Location is a bit far away for entertainment. But many restaurants are surrounded. So not very boring.
Review 122:The room is spacious, especially the bathroom. Nice environment surrounding and friendly staff.
Review 123:First two nights, someone in room above mine was awake making noise and pounding noise until 4:00 am! Not hotel's fault. Next time I will request a top floor. The hotel was short staffed at front desk and in restaurant..took awhile to get waited on..very friendly though!
Review 124:Staff very friendly, good breakfast, nice pool area.
Review 125:We loved everyone who worked there. They truly made us feel like a part of their family! Thank you all and we love you and we see you soon. From Alicia and Felicia Banks!
Review 126:The entire complex needs a facelift inside. I was in room 333. I loved the view but felt everything was a bit tired. Clean but tired. I would be happy to do your design remodeling.
Review 127:Loved the courtyard, the gazebo, and sound of the fountains. The landscape throughout the complex was beautiful. Loved loved love the price though. Loved the complimentary breakfast. Need flavored coffee creamer.
Review 128:Although close in miles the relentless traffic makes getting into downtown Portland a project, and "park and ride" for public transportation is hard to find. We had particularly loud plumbing which may have been limited to our room.
Review 129:Large, clean, well appointed room with a balcony overlooking the pool and gardens/fountain. Very helpful and friendly staff. Convenient to wine country as well as the Rose Garden, and Japanese Garden.
Review 130:When I booked the room, I got a price of 89.00. When we got to the room, we didn't like the room and asked for one with a view of the pool. The person at the desk said that room was 20.00 more. My wife and I were ok with that and checked in. At check out time we were charged 40.00 extra. I complained to the manager and she acted as though she didn't care. Instead she showed me a slip of paper for the car registration that I signed. On it it had the price I was agreeing to. I did not see the printed price. She then told me that the room we chose was in fact 40.00 dollars more. Again, she acted as though she didn't care. No apologies or any kind of empathy. All she really said was "well I don't know what to tell you, that's what you agreed to." Our family camps near Portland every year. At the end of the trip, we always like treat ourselves to a night or two in a hotel before heading home. We will not return to your hotel. I can't emphasize enough that it just wasn't the fact that the price was slipped in the car registration or that it was a simple misunderstanding. It's the "who care's" attitude from the staff that really bothered me.
Review 131:the restaurant was good.
Review 132:Rooms were dated and in need of an update. the hall and stairs were definitely a little worn and showing its age. It would have been nice to have had juice for the kids at the buffet
Review 133:Very nice setting, not like a hotel at all. The fountain and courtyard made the place seem more expensive than it was. Buffet was good Staff was friendly The pool was nice after a hot day in Portland Location was very good, quiet and close to almost anything you needed. King size room was nice, lots of room to spread out for the kids, Hotel was very busy but we were never bothered with any disturbances with the exception of no parking one night
Review 134:reception clerk not very accommodating. Three days trying to change rooms closer to pool gave up. WE STAYED there 9days could not be any further away if we tried.breakfast service hit &miss
Review 135:Clean and roomy. Very nice breakfast✳pool and jaquzzi above average.cleaning room service Judith was exceptional.Says my wife.
Review 136:Booked a room for 2 adults and 3 children, ages 4, 9 and 11. The room had one bed. Shilo would not trade room to give us 2 beds. They insisted we pay for a roll away.
Review 137:Our room that we were placed was right along the street. Also around 4:30 in the morning there was a couple in the room next to us who were arguing as they were rushing to get ready for their flight at the airport. The walls in the room that we stayed in were super thin. My 4 year old son was able to sleep through it. But, my husband and I heard every word of their argument. Between these people arguing at 4:30 and the noise of the street...I had the worst sleep that I had ever had in a hotel.
Review 138:The breakfast was great. A hot buffet with pancakes, sausage, potatoes, eggs as well as the typical cold foods such as cereal and fruit. I was exceptionally pleased with the breakfast.
Review 139:The shower drain drained quite slowly.
Review 140:The buffet breakfast was in the restaurant.Food was replenished timely. Liked having a waitress on hand. Near Kohls, and Trader Joe's.Loved the gazebo and overall landscape of the Shilo.
