Reviews for Inn at the Convention Center

Review 1:The room backed to the street where the train runs 24 hours a day. It was extremely loud. Very hard to sleep. The tile in the bathroom was dirty and the hand towels were stained.

Review 2:The room is spacious and the bed was really comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave, which is a plus. It was a very close each to the moda center. Only took 5 minutes to get there and back.

Review 3:The lighting in the room was pretty bad, another overhead light and brighter lamps would be much better.

Review 4:This place is great if you are attending something at the Convention center and still want an easy MAX trip to the city center.

Review 5:Our room was near the stairs and both days we could smell weed coming from that area. My younger kids were asking what it was, had to explain that to them. Parking was limited. Can't help that though. Other than those things it was a great room in a great area!

Review 6:Great rooms! Lots of space.

Review 7:Needs some updating, the smell from cleaner was overwhelming, gave me a sore throat but was better after I opened the window for a few hours.

Review 8:We were there for an event at the convention center, location was perfect. Staff was friendly and close to several food choices.

Review 9:Convenient location close to Convention Center and stops of Light train, tram and buses/ psbl to get to the hotel from the airport by public transport/ restaurants and mall close by(walking distance) Staff was friendly and helpfull giving tips about restaurants and things to do. Bed: comfortable matress and clean bedding AC/heating a bit difficult to adjust

Review 10:No breakfast. There was a weird smell in the lobby. The heater wasn't blowing hot air.

Review 11:The staff was really nice. Our room was upgraded for free, and from there we had a very nice view of Portand. The room was comfortable. The location was convenient, you can walk or take the public transportation very easily to go to downtown.

Review 12:So loud! Max trains running every 20 mins Til midnight. Lots of noisy traffic. Bring earplugs.

Review 13:Convenience. Great place to stay after a game or convention. Not a romantic getaway.

Review 14:Stayed here twice, and the second room showed it's age a bit more, particularly in the bathroom. Both were clean and great for the price, but some of the rooms may be better than others.

Review 15:Great location close to trains, streetcars, and a reasonable walk to downtown or around the eastside. Free Parking. Friendly staff. Nice view of Portland from the south side.

Review 16:The bathroom, was very small. It would have been nice to have a deeper tub to soak in.

Review 17:I liked that we had a whole wall of windows. The staff there were very friendly.

Review 18:Beds were uncomfortable and traffic noise was a problem for my husband. Hotel looks to be rather old with very little updating.

Review 19:Hotel was very close to venue for workshop

Review 20:The elevator had a bad smell, the hall had an odd smell but the room was fine. Although most of the furnishings are nice, the building could certainly use a remodel but then that would take it out of the price range that it is in.

Review 21:I like the location when doing business in Portland. The night and morning desk clerks were just great. Very pleasant and professional. Good beds with nice modern bedding.

Review 22:I come from a very quiet, small town, so the noise of the many forms of traffic was very disturbing, and made it difficult to sleep. I realize that this is not within the hotel's control however.

Review 23:There have been some much needed improvements to the property, but a few more needed. The staff was very courteous and pleasant, the room was comfortable, neat, tidy, and the attendant turned on the heat and had the room warmed for me. I was also allowed to check in early, which was a huge favor.

Review 24:The facilities are very dated and needs to be remodeled. Our room was very noisy.

Review 25:It is in a great location, close to convention center, Moda center and right on the Max line.

Review 26:Our room smelled of POT!! I hated that!!! Not the hotels fault, I dont think. The bathtub was dirty & I had to take a shower instead of a bath! Older property, low ceilings were a tad freaky, but I will stay there again as it didnt change the fact that the staff was incredible!!!! No breakfast

Review 27:We will stay here again!! We travel to Portland a lot & the location is phenomenal! (Right across from the Convention Center) The staff were the absolute BEST! Helped direct us, let us park a few hours before checkin, our event ran over and forced us to check out a bit late with no charge, just so kind, always asking my young girls about their competition & if they won afterwards, so polite, offered us an umbrella when it was pouring down rain and we didnt have one, etc. There were MANY kindnesses! We will be back!! For it being an older & outdated property, I would come back because of the staff members making it so nice for us!!!

Review 28:Our tub wasn't clean. There was debris, almost like loose dirt coming down the side. A couple hairs as well. When I go to a hotel, I want and expect it to be clean with the illusion that "no one has been there before" it's creepy and unsettling to have "remnants " of the last guests. I chose to ignore it since the rest seemed pretty good. We were there for such a short time that I didn't want my time taken up with filing a complaint. Also, there was only one carafe if coffee in the lobby. Not enough for a fully booked hote.

Review 29:Staff were efficient and nice. Free parking, location was close to the moda center. Beds were comfortable and felt fresh. Noise from MAX was not as bad as expected.

Review 30:There was some hair in the tub when I went to take my shower in the morning. That was gross. Otherwise a very clean room.

Review 31:The location and staff were the best. Facility overall was really good.

Review 32:Some doughnuts at the coffee station in the morning and cookies at evening is all I can think to add to the guests' comfort.

Review 33:All staff were very helpful in acquainting us to the city, particularly how to use the MAX.I was glad to be able to do my laundry. Looking out our 5th floor window, was a view through beautiful trees in fall color-lovely.

Review 34:Not the best furnished hotel rooms but can't complain given the price.

Review 35:Very near to Oregon Convention Center. Diners Red Robin and Denny's and Starbucks within 5-8mins walk. Lloyd Center Shopping mall within 15mins walk. Safeway supermarket within 20 mins walk. Tram stop right outside hotel. Spacious room Hot showers work well Coffee Maker provided in room. Heaters work well

Review 36:I had requested to be on the opposite side of the tram and we were put on the tram side and then our TV didn't work and couldn't be fixed. There was no discount or refund offered due to the problems.

Review 37:Close proximity to the convention center and free parking.

Review 38:Too loud. Because of tram station. Dark lightening during night time No breakfast

Review 39:Really good and easy connection with city center and airport Big windows Soda machine on each floor :)) Car parking on a basement

Review 40:no breakfast, very noisy heating system and very loud trams outside, the tap is so difficult to use, and the elevator smells very bad

Review 41:nice location with convenient public transportation; very friendly and helpful staff

Review 42:As others have mentioned it was a bit noisy with street noises (bursts of cheering on Saturday night), though I can't comment if other properties would be better. For the money I plan to stay here again and spend the savings at the many excellent vegan restaurants in Portland!

Review 43:All of the staff were pleasant and helpful. The location could not have been better as I was in Portland to attend an event at the Convention Center. I usually stay at Marriott properties, but the difference in price was so good plus free parking at ICC instead of $24/day I couldn't pass it up. The property is a bit dated but it was clean & comfortable and very well-priced for the location. I also appreciated the dorm sized fridge and microwave.

Review 44:forever and always, as near as it is to the Con center...the train LOL. I need ear plugs to sleep.

Review 45:new room updates are great. new bed is great, very nice improvements.

Review 46:Bathroom was a bit worn out but still clean and comfortable.

Review 47:Staff were super lovely, helpful and friendly. There is a rail stop right out the front, great if you're coming from the airport. Close to downtown. Free coffee 24/7. Room was comfortable and had a heater, refrigerator and microwave.

Review 48:A bit noisy ans if a truck passed it felt like an earthquake

Review 49:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Big room and when we wanted to extend for one more night it was very easy to do.

Review 50:Weird smell, wifi didn't work ever during stay, unhelpful staff, sketchy people loitering outside, endless noise from street and light rail

Review 51:Location

Review 52:So my suggestion to the Inn, when someone checks in, give them a package of ear plugs! It sounded like a train was going through our room non-stop all night long. We were exhausted the next morning. :(

Review 53:It was very close to the Convention Center. Also the staff was very helpful with directions.

Review 54:As a nursing mom, I appreciate your willingness to help me under these special circumstances by allowing me to check out late and use your freezer space! It really meant a lot. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help out!!!

Review 55:Facility is getting a bit old and worn out. Small details were in need of repair (eg, damaged-missing formica edging in bathrom, tub and shower controls were stiff and difficult to operate. The tv remote did not work; when I checked the batteries they were corroded. However, a replacement was provided on request.

Review 56:The location was convenient, the beds and linens were nice.

Review 57:The noise insulation was horrible. You can hear the people on the streets, train, and any other noise that was offered from the outside.

Review 58:The shower pressure and beds were really great.

Review 59:The hotel needed updating and the use of air freshener was prolific and quite overwhelming.

Review 60:Location location location! This hotel is right next to the train station, so getting around the city and to the airport is a breeze. The rooms were clean and adequate.

Review 61:Noise from the street

Review 62:First we got a room facing the road, it was noisy. Once we moved to a different room, it was very convenient. Close to the Confrence center

Review 63:The hotel is very dated and in need of remodel, especially the bathrooms. The elevator smelled. The balcony window didnt open. Our room was right next to the light rail which ran all night long

Review 64:Lowest price in the downtown area, good location. Free parking. Good beds

Review 65:We had reserved a king size bed but got 2 queen size instead. It was pretty dingy and worn down. We couldn't open the sliding glass door in our room because it was broken.

Review 66:It is so close to the Moda Center we walked there in about 5 minutes .

Review 67:Everything was good.

Review 68:Very good location: right near a metro station or 30 minutes on foot to downtown across the river. All basics, tea / coffee, a hairdryer. Large, spacious room with 2 double beds. Very friendly staff, special greetings to the Ukrainian housekeeper lady!

Review 69:Noisy at night on the side of the hotel we were on because the light rail, which is just in the road below, went most of the night. However we got used to it and didn't notice it the second and third nights.

Review 70:Large comfortable room. Very pleasant helpful staff. Close to city centre and the MAX stop is just by the hotel. Reasonably priced.

Review 71:The hotel is run down and can be noisy at night due to traffic.

Review 72:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is great if you are visiting the convention centre.

Review 73:The entrance is not conducive to bringing in luggage carts. Very small, heavy door. Also thought the rooms could use updating. The comforters and furniture were ok but it needs new trim, paint, etc. Looks kinda creepy in many areas. Also it is very close to the Max line (right next to the hotel) and I could hear that when trying to sleep.

Review 74:Friendly staff. Comfortable bed.

Review 75:Very old and shabby interior Extremely loud coming from street and street cars (the window was very poor) and the building itself (could hear every word and step of other guests) Room cleaned not before 5 p.m.

Review 76:Change from very noisy room to less (but also loud) room without extra costs Free parking space

Review 77:Especially, in the midnight outside is sometimes nosy, thus I cannot sleep well.

Review 78:This hotel is very close to the station, I can see this hotel from the window of the train. Gestroom is very large. Coffe and boiled water service is also nice.

Review 79:Views from 4th floor could have been spectacular, but windows were (badly) fixed shut and dirty.

Review 80:Excellent location, on the MAX lines and the trolleys to the Convention Centre - only 10 mins ride from Downtown. Includes parking (a rare commodity! I would certainly stay again, and Portland is a lovely city to explore.

Review 81:Curtains dusty.

Review 82:Lovely size rooms and the operating equipment not too noisy. Floor to ceiling wall to wall patio doors and windows a pleasant surprise and they even opened for outside air...tasteful decor with clean lines . Open views of trees and a court yard like space in the next block afforded a luxury feel at a very good price...close to sunny side of the river walk and pedestrian bridge to other side of town.

Review 83:I wish the hotel offered breakfast so I didn't have to spend my time going to Starbucks no matter how close it is.

Review 84:It was right across the street from the convention center which is what I needed for Comicon! Also the bed spread was a beautiful pattern.

Review 85:The place could most certainly use an update. If you are looking for high end, this isn't it. If you are looking for a great location, a good bed and an affordable choice, then this is it. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 86:Perfect location if you are attending an event at the Convention Center. Also it is right on the Max line so getting there from the airport is a snap. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 87:I was OK with everything but there were a couple of things that might be a problem for some. The hotel could use a little updating and remodeling. Folks who find this sort of thing to be an affront to their sensibilities should go to the Four Seasons or some other upscale place. Also, there's a MAX stop right at the corner, which is a plus for me, but some folks might find it, and that fact this hotel is right down town, to be a bit noisy. I had no problems at all but others might.

Review 88:Clean, comfortable room just across the street from the Convention Center (Rose City Comic Con). Staff was very, very helpful and friendly. There's a MAX stop right at the corner. Restaurants like Spirit of 77, Red Robin, Dennys, Burgerville and Subway were just a short walk away. We've already reserved our room for Wizard World in the same location in February.

Review 89:Quite noisy at nite because of street trains outside front of hotel.

Review 90:Bed very comfortable and rooms quite big Street train outside front of hotel $5 all day to get downtown and to various locations

Review 91:The reason this place is cheap for what it is is that it hasnt been redecorated seemingly since the early 80s. Personally I liked the retro vibe. but perhaps a lick of paint in places might help. But then the prices might be higher.

Review 92:I liked the fact that the room was massive, there was a bath, WIFI, a fridge. And the location is great.

Review 93:If you need everything to be new and shiny, don't come here.

Review 94:everything worked. the staff was wonderful. parking was free. nighttime in the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful and safe for dog walking after dark. near alberta neighborhood and light rail.

Review 95:The streetcar pass in front and you hear it all the time if your rooms faces the street. No acoustic insulation. There's no minibar in the room.

Review 96:Staff is friendly and efficient. Good location and easy access to public transport. Free parking. They really give late check-out to Genius costumers if available.

Review 97:Bathroom was run down looking and shower head was functional but not pleasant. Coffee brand was drinkable but not great.

Review 98:The staff were friendly. Parking was free. Bed and room were comfortable and clean. I liked opening the slider for fresh air. View was decent.

Review 99:Lack of amenities in the room, no microwave or refrigerator. As this was for a conference several other attending guests were at the same hotel and they did have better amenities for the same class of room.

Review 100:Great location next to the convention center and convenient to several local breweries. Overall a nice hotel and recommended for those who are looking for a base camp for their city activities.

Review 101:It is older and needs renovation, but is kept clean.

Review 102:the staff is fantastic. kayla and theresa went out of their way to help me try to ship something home that was too big to take on the plane. david was helpful, lent me an umbrella and watched my bag. The location could not be better for convention attendees.

Review 103:very bad noise from the MRT railway if your room is on the north side - noise starts from 4 am in the morning, so disturbs your sleep. I slept in the bathroom one night in the bath and got a better sleep in than I did in my bed....

Review 104:close to convention centre

Review 105:But the hotel is right in the light rail train line. Even on the top floor, street noise was pretty high. The overall cleanliness was also a little ragged and aged. Probably fine for me, but I felt a little overpriced.

Review 106:Proximity to downtown was great...

Review 107:Nothing.

Review 108:Coffee in the lobby. The Max Line is right outside the hotel and it's cheap ($2 for senior day pass, although they call it an Honored Citizen Pass *smile* ) and you can ride the Max, buses, and the streetcars. :

Review 109:Staff was pleasant and friendly, but my interactions with them were limited...which was fine with me. An older building and it shows its age, but clean and well maintained, and the price for what I got was extremely reasonable. The location was great-- I had a few different things to do in the city at different places and with the transit center just a couple of blocks away, it was a breeze getting where I needed to go!

Review 110:Towels too small. Not much TV selection except for boring channels.

Review 111:Very clean. Quiet on city view side. Bed very comfortable. Shower was awesome! Great location.

Review 112:The noise level of the light rail was very loud. I'm a light sleeper so this was a problem for me.

Review 113:The staff were very accommodating! Free parking. Location. Comfortable bed.

Review 114:The hotel is right on the trolley line which our room overlooked. The rumbling of the trolleys during the day and throughout the night was annoying and kept one of us awake.

Review 115:staff were very helpful and accomodating. When the TV did not function perfectly staff came to the room and persisted until the TV worked well. Front desk staff very helpful.

Review 116:Other than the manager the staff was cold and on the edge of rude. I was given poor parking instructions upon arrival into a very congested down town. The Inn is a bit difficult to find if you have never been there before. In the rooms you hear everything going on outside to include vehicle traffic, some ringing bell and the trolley, all night long. Ear plugs only slightly helped.

Review 117:It was clean.

Review 118:Carpet was old, not sure how clean it was ... New carpet would do wonders for the otherwise nice room

Review 119:Good location, parking on premises excellent, comfortable, clean bed, clean bathroom

Review 120:Very noisy hotel near the Train and road --> need to have very good ear plugs. The ones given by the hotel are not good

Review 121:Near the train and conference center and downtown Wide rooms

Review 122:Our room had older decor and really could have used an update and the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was broken (housekeepers couldn't have missed it when replacing the roll).

Review 123:We had a room with a nice view of downtown Portland and the convention center. The hotel is very close to public transportation and in a very convenient location. We appreciated the free parking.

Review 124:POOR customer service. We could have had a discount through our AAA membership but the staff wouldn't give it to us because we had booked the room in advance!?! The actual room was gross. The carpets were filthy, the sliding glass door had several cracks that looked like they'd been taped over, with scotch tape so you can still see all the cracks. That didn't make us feel safe. Also the bathroom was very old and run down, maybe original, so it didn't feel clean. The beds were so hard and springy, they creaked loudly every time you moved, neither of us slept well and we both woke up sore. We will not stay there again, for the same price we could have found a much better place to stay.

Review 125:The only things we liked were the convenient location, and the city view at night.

Review 126:The room we were given was situated next to the tram. It was very noisy and the whole room shook when the tram passed by and it will not stop! It was impossible to sleep! The room itself was dark and some lights didn't work. The bathroom was not very clean at all. The television didn't have many channels. Not very central, not a lot of restaurants nearby. This hotel needs to be refurbished. The cost of the room didn't at all match the standards expected!

Review 127:Free wi-fi

Review 128:The window had a huge crack in it, the carpet was stained, you had to keep the curtains open to feel the fan from the A/C, no breakfast

Review 129:The beds were very comfortable, free parking, hotel staff was nice

Review 130:The a/c was locked and wouldn't go down enough because at the time we were in Portland it was 100 degs. both days. The room was OK the bathroom could have been nicer but it worked.

Review 131:The staff were very helpful and the location was perfect.

Review 132:The free WiFi kind of worked, but clearly wasn't designed for a full hotel where every visitor has at least one networked device...

Review 133:Attended a 5-day convention at the OCC - location couldn't be better! It does show it's age here and there, but the room was clean and comfortable.

Review 134:Someone next door seemed to test the adjoining door between rooms on Mon. morn. Thank goodness it was locked 'cause poopy would have hit the fan!

Review 135:Vicinity to Moda Ctr and cleanliness. Appreciated the security;i.e. security cameras.

Review 136:Nice clean rooms- nothing fancy, but we were just looking for someplace decent to lay our heads at night. The hotel is right across the street from the Max line- made it easy get around, we barely used our car. The hotel also included free parking. The rooms were quiet.

Review 137:We could not sleep the first night because of too much noise from trains/trams outside. We moved to a new room the next day but both nights the beds were really uncomfortable and we kept turning and twisting. They were spring mattress beds and really hard to sleep on

Review 138:The location was good

Review 139:The hotel overall was very warm, especially in the elevators. We didn't have great luck with the maid service - never left us any additional coffee cups or creamer, after we asked. The toilet was ready to overflow several times, thank goodness it was our last day.

Review 140:Good location, nice size room, very clean. Great access to the TriMet

Review 141:Very old hotel, not many updates, very limited outlets to plug in phone etc, I had to move furniture, absolutely no outlets in the bathroom to even plug in the complementary dryer. Felt the need to check for bedbugs as well....

Review 142:The location is great! Right next to the max, limited parking

Review 143:Horrible Wi-Fi.

Review 144:Lovely stuff, very helpful and welcoming! Great location when visiting Convention Center, but even if that's not the case as light rail is right next to the Inn and downtown is within few minute drive.

Review 145:Room 418 faced the street with a street car going by every 15 minutes, except between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Because the sliding glass door was off it's tracts the noise was quite loud for the first night.

Review 146:location and staff !! We were relocated to a much quieter room for the second night.
