Reviews for Hotel Eastlund

Review 1:Traffic and train noise on the second floor was the only negative. But given the price, could be overlooked

Review 2:It's a beautifully designed Boutique Hotel, centrally located and easy to get in and out of

Review 3:The air conditioning unit was really loud. Valet parking at $25/day was a little bit steep.

Review 4:Good location with great access to public transit. Newly renovated hotel with fresh rooms and comfortable beds. No breakfast included, but a nice coffee shop on site. Really friendly staff.

Review 5:right next to the MAX lines and street car. Just a few blocks from the Moda Center, so perfect for a concert. Loved the bakery off the lobby! Great staff and beautiful room!

Review 6:There was nothing I did not like, I was satisfied with it all!

Review 7:Location near the Moda Center, friendliness of staff, spaciousness of room, exceptional amenities, size and set up of the bathroom and bedroom, and ease of requesting our car. Close to downtown with easy access to shopping, eating, chocolate, Powell's books and exploring.

Review 8:An odd noise in our room sounding like a rushing noise. The manager was not friendly to the person he was training when I checked in.

Review 9:The location and amenities.

Review 10:In the restaurant some food was running out and they didn't tell us before.

Review 11:We really liked the new and comfortable hotel. The rooms were super clean and new. The roof top bar/restaurant is a highlight. The connection to train stations are pretty close so it's really good located also if you want to go by feet.

Review 12:The shower stall was maybe a little too modern for my taste. It was a glass half-wall rather than a glass door so it was a bit drafty when I showered. I like my showers steamy! Other than that minor personal preference, everything was very nice. $25 valet parking (plus tips) wasn't bad but only because I stayed 1 night. I don't think I would have chosen this hotel if I had to stay 2 or more nights, solely based on the cost of parking.

Review 13:Conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of the Moda Center and right by public transportation. A few other reviews mentioned the loudness of the train going by, but I personally did not find it bothersome, even with my window open the entire time. It was actually kinda relaxing. I was on the 5th floor so maybe that's why it did not bother me. Clean and modern decor.

Review 14:Need to tell travelers that their room is going to be over trams and railroad tracks and give them an option of moving to a quieter room. Noise not noticeable with TV on, by the time sleep came, it was late into the night. This could be considered a bait and switch - less expensive rates for the room and then if customer want to switch, more money. I suppose some don't mind the noise and are OK with the less expensive rate, but transparency needs to be there for credibility.

Review 15:I did not like the attitude of the hostess in the restaurant upstairs. I had called earlier to find out if I needed to make a reservation. I was told no, however when myself and guests went to the restaurant they asked if I made a reservation and that they were booked. I was told that I could have 20 minutes to order, eat and leave before there next customer showed up. Her attitude, tone and body language was very rude. We did not eat the restaurant.

Review 16:I liked the location of the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable. The front desk and parking attendants were very nice and knowledgeable.

Review 17:The newness was well appreciated. Clean and crisp. The room, though somewhat small, was very comfy and quiet. The bedding was great. The restaurant had excellent service and food. The view was very nice

Review 18:The location is central, easy to get to tranportation. The hotel is beautiful and the roof top tavern has amazing views.I look forward to staying in the summer.

Review 19:I required a room as quite as possible. I guess the hotel staff did the best to arrange it but there was a contraction site close by. It was a bit noisy at night but was bearable. The valet price was high but compare with other hotels was cheaper. They did not provide slippers for the customers.

Review 20:Most of the staff were extremely friendly except one female staff. The room was clean and the beds and bathroom were big. The location was not in downtown area but close. Also it had Starbucks and Denny's close by, which was convenience for us to get breakfast and coffee to start the day.

Review 21:I am obsessed with this hotel! It was gorgeous, the staff did absolutely everything they could to accommodate us and it was a perfect location for a bachelorette party

Review 22:Everything in the room including the water, coffee etc you have to pay it:(

Review 23:First of all, the hotel looks so so so nice. I LOVE it so much. It feels like your own room. Small little cozy room! Of course it's very clean and tidy, got everything you need. Love the bed so much haha, extremely comfortable!

Review 24:hotel and rooms were modern & well-designed. great abstract art hung throughout. the walls in the hallway alternate every 12 or so feet between dimly lit/dark paint and brightly lit/light paint, which actually made them fun to walk down.

Review 25:Really loved everything. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Bar up stairs was FANTASTIC!! Great service and great people! Both bartenders were amazing!! Really fun stay!

Review 26:Stupid WiFi access, paid water bottles, VERY LOUD AC, only stairs access from street to lobby, my shower-tray was not 100% clean

Review 27:Great fresh room feeling, good location, great view from room, big and comfortable bed, nice design, nice roof restaurant, good quality of bedroom cosmetics, hairdrayer

Review 28:Beds were really comfortable, nice shower. Both restaurants were delish. Easy on and off I5. Location is great, close to convention center as well as Lloyd Center mall.

Review 29:What's there not to like?

Review 30:This place is doing everything right. Beautiful hotel, modern and incredible use of apace. Every amenity that you could want. We have traveled to over 20 countries, everything from Bora Bora to Japan and this is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at.Great value for the price.

Review 31:Nothing. Just thought they need it to have sugar condiments in the room next to the coffe and I think there should be a complimentary water instead of charging 3.00 for the bottle water In your room.

Review 32:People are very nice and I love the roof top restaurant and the rooms are very comfortable.

Review 33:Nothing!

Review 34:Staff was courteous! Room was very comfort - beds etc. we had a problem with the heating and they came right up and had it fixed immediately. Great Bakery and excellent Happy Hour

Review 35:The room wasn't cleaned until the evening - it would have been nice to come back to a clean room to get ready for dinner

Review 36:Great room, nice and helpful staff. Great atmosphere, love this hotel!

Review 37:The rooms are seriously small. No space to move about. The chair in the room is so low it feels like sitting on the floor.

Review 38:Stylish environment. Friendly staff.

Review 39:Nothing

Review 40:We came to town for a concert, the hotel was within walking distance. That was really great because I hate driving in the traffic. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the overall design of the hotel itself, very modern.

Review 41:Location is convenient if you need to be near Lloyd Center or convention center . However this is a pretty lame part of town.

Review 42:They took a tired old red lion hotel and turned it into a hip little boutique. The new bakery cafe is great.

Review 43:Loved how close this hotel was to the MAX line. I arrived before my room was ready, so the valet parked my car and hotel staff stored my luggage and I just took the MAX into town. Also loved the cafe off the main lobby and loved how clean and modern everything was. Would definitely stay here again!

Review 44:The entire experience was excellent. From the Valet parking to the top floor restaurant, the experience was great. Very convenient to the transportation system too.

Review 45:Very noisy all night with the city trains..made it hard to sleep. Also twice the cost per night compared to other hotels near by.

Review 46:The staff was outstanding and the location was perfect for us.

Review 47:My only lower rating was price. But all of Portland seemed expensive. This was relatively good value by going to east side.

Review 48:Staff was great. Convenient parking. Great renovation with modern bathroom. Rooftop bar had great views of the downtown. Close to light rail transit.

Review 49:Overall price is a little steep for Portland, but worth it in the end. The only true negative is having only one option to park your car on site for $25 valet. Not a huge deal, but the price is again steep for the market.

Review 50:Excellent design and art features throughout the property and rooms. The overall aesthetic is reminiscent of many European boutique hotels. The new restaurants provide much needed food options for the area with high quality food and good drink selections at reasonable prices.

Review 51:The onion rings, but muscles were great.

Review 52:New and modern very chic boutique hotel. All the staff were super friendly. Outdoor patio is great with yummy cocktails and appetizers. We saved money during happy hour.

Review 53:The only thing was that there was no menu in the room.

Review 54:From the outside it looked pretty plain but it is newly remodeled and was beautiful. The restaurant on the top floor served excellent food and room service was professional. All the staff were helpful.

Review 55:Location was a bit noisy on the rail line, but convenient for commuters.

Review 56:Beautiful room and wonderful amenities. Bedding was luxe and the bathroom was gorgeous!

Review 57:two things. One is that it's very close to the train tracks, so it can be noisy at night (didn't bother us that much as we knew about it going there and expected it being in a city). Second, the bathroom door is a slider and doesn't close fully or lock (1/4 of inch at top and up to 1/2 inch at the side). It wouldn't stop us from staying again, it just could be a major privacy issue for some.

Review 58:excellent location, and lovely décor. Staff were superb.

Review 59:Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful - mapped out loads of attractions for us. Provided a bottle opener since we forgot ours. Rooms were new and clean, with modern decor. Other reviewers mentioned noise, but we were facing the train on the 4th floor with the windows closed and had no issues at all with noise. Food at Altabira (rooftop) was delicious and accommodated dietary restrictions. Price for food was fair. Hotel price was more than reasonable for such a great location (next to train, so easy to get everywhere) and was cheaper than other comparable hotels in this district. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Portland!

Review 60:Room was looking at the parking entrance. Little noisy from second floor

Review 61:Modern style, great food selection inside, location was great for Conventional Center visitors

Review 62:When I booked the hotel, it said free parking online. When I got there, I had to pay $25 if I didn't want to park on the street. Too much money. I would never stay more than 1 night.

Review 63:The location close to the Moda center.

Review 64:As a shorter person, the bed was a little high but that is a minor thing.

Review 65:As a new hotel, everything was was in great condition. And the staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 66:The staff safely stored our two bikes for free! Super friendly staff, they showed us where to go and really seemed to take pride in the beautiful property. The bakery was nice as well. Plus that faux-fur snow leopard throw, very cozy! Not too far from Portland proper either.

Review 67:Hard pillow, could hear the train all night long, didn't sleep. The restaurants were just ok, good for business travelers but nothing interesting. Very corporate seeming.

Review 68:Very clean, design is great

Review 69:The external soundproofing was very poor and I was woken early everyday. Location was a bit isolated.

Review 70:The friendly helpful staff. The room facilities. The bar terrace.

Review 71:Can't recall anything

Review 72:Great atmosphere.Warm enthusiastic helpful staff.Beautifully furnished spacious rooms and hotel is very conveniently located to downtown as the tram is located just outside the hotel and downtown is just across the bridge.

Review 73:The elevator buttons didn't work most of the time. Quite old I think. The food and coffee at the cafe below was horrible and the staff there matched. (Sad face). The food at the rooftop, Altabira, was decent for the price but the cocktails were way overpriced for what you got. However the place overall was beautiful.

Review 74:We loved our room and the comfort of the bed. The staff were quick, alert, prompt and courteous. The hotel was very clean and we loved the hallways and decor!

Review 75:No room service menu; they told me my choices over the phone. My finished tray was still outside my door the next morning.

Review 76:Nice looking rooms and common areas and clean.

Review 77:Breakfast restaurant used instant eggs (or so it seemed). A bit pricey, too.

Review 78:Rooms were great and loved the rooftop restaurant. Having Rapid Transit train right there was also really convenient. And we walked from Union Station!!

Review 79:I used some of the bottle water in the room and it did not get replaced.

Review 80:That everything was so close and local. Also, the restaurants in the hotel were both great.

Review 81:The price could be a little lower.

Review 82:The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was upscale. Location was perfect for eating and attending a concert.

Review 83:When I was booking this hotel it said there was only one room left. WhenI arrived the hotel seemed big and empty.Seemed too new and unorganized. Charges for every little thing - made us charge parking and local calls. The staff for the most part was pretty good and hope they improve ladder more time.

Review 84:I liked the location.Staff was ok.

Review 85:The location is kind of dead so you'll be traveling almost a mile to do anything, and the upside of being so close to the MAX and streetcar is that if you're on the wrong side you hear it alllll night. You get used to it, it fades out, but still.

Review 86:Really lovely rooms, convenient to the MAX and streetcar.

Review 87:it took two calls to get regular coffee delivered? They kept bringing decaf. Also the buttons for privacy and service needs can be accidentally pushed (and your room not cleaned).

Review 88:Cool and clean. Great towels. Roof bar was incredible.

Review 89:Hotel dining was expensive; tasted great but small portions and my husband was disappointed. A sauna or hot tub on site would have been nice.

Review 90:Room itself was comfortable, bed and bathroom were lovely. Staff were excellent. My husband enjoyed the gym facilities. Location is superb; the MAX line is across the street, and many restaurants nearby.

Review 91:Was in a hurry to catch a train and ordered a breakfast sandwich from cafe when there was no line. It took 15 minutes which is much longer than it should for an egg on roll.

Review 92:The location was great, it's right by a transit stop and is a 10 minute ride downtown. The rooms are very modern in design and are well thought-out. There's a bundle of charger cables already at the bedside table (Lightning, 30-pin, USB) so you don't need to dig for a wall plug.

Review 93:The room was really small and you have to pay $25 a night for valet parking.

Review 94:Really pretty hotel, everything seemed super clean and most of the staff was super friendly.

Review 95:Nothing not to like restaurant upstairs was a little pricey

Review 96:Love the modern style of the hotel in the valet parking – the shower in the room was amazing – no issues with Wi-Fi – great flat screen TV with adequate channels – reasonably priced coffee shop downstairs – staff will be on kind and helpful - nice walk to the Saturday market or an easy train ride downtown. Great rooftop bar even though the smoke from the forest fires made it less appealing

Review 97:Valet parking for 25 bucks! We arrived at night on a weekend so not much choice. Every single thing costs money (e.g. complimentary internet is actually 30 minutes' worth). And we were in the middle of summer and found the 249 USD rate already pretty outrageous.

Review 98:New hotel, clean, a short walk/light rail ride from things to do in Portland.

Review 99:The internet connectivity was slow and unreliable. I even called the hotel's tech support number which did not resolve my issue. I finally gave up trying to connect to the internet.

Review 100:The hotel is immaculately clean. The room was small but very comfortable. The location was, for us, excellent. The staff was very friendly and reacted quickly to our requests.

Review 101:With the drought, we understand the value of reusing laundry, but with the modern design of your bathrooms, there are no places to dry towels. There was only one bath towel rack, and with the sliding bathroom door, not even a hook on the back of the door. If guest are to reuse towels, there needs to be more places to dry towels.

Review 102:Convenient location, close to rail lines. New. Roof view would have been better without the smoke from the fires.

Review 103:We liked everything.

Review 104:Deco was awsome, location was central enough to make easy to find all the districts we were looking for. Easy access to transit system.staff extremely helpful with recommendations and directions

Review 105:Staff were very friendly, room was very clean and everything is very new! I'm sure once everyone catches on to this great new hotel, it won't have many vacancies, or be as inexpensive! Both restaurants have great food - the vanilla latte is to die for!

Review 106:Lots of environmental noises outside and some inside. Outside city noise is to be expected and we didn't mind. Maybe some construction? Inside a weird noise maybe from AC unit. I would return to Eastlund with a set of great earplugs.

Review 107:Staff, decor, technology were all excellent. This is a newer hotel. The rooms were very clean, although smaller than most, the space was used well.Efficient, stylish setting. Beds were very comfortable, excellent lighting and plenty of storage space. Most professional staff. Valets were really friendly.

Review 108:The rooms were really small, and we could hear the MAX all night, even with our windows closed. Also, the lack of included breakfast for the price of hotel made this a location we probably won't stay at again. We only stayed here because of the deal we found on Booking.com

Review 109:The decor was nice, and it was easy to get to from the MAX.

Review 110:Being next to the rail line, you can't help but hear the trains.

Review 111:Location of the hotel is outstanding. Adjacent to the Tri-Met station, convention center and block from the Moda center.

Review 112:We paid too much. The price was $75 less/night when I checked after we arrived. The AC did not cool low enough. It was not as convenient as I would have liked.

Review 113:Comfort and cleanliness and the bakery cafe attached to the property.

Review 114:I guess service at the two restaurants in the hotel could have been a bit better, but no serious complaints.

Review 115:Great location - close enough to downtown to walk to some locations, and for further locations, hotel is right beside a MAX station. Room was very comfy. Staff were nice.

Review 116:The building was so new that there was a strong "new furniture" chemical smell in the room that took a couple of days to get rid of by keeping the window open. The lifts were pathetic - for a new building to have such slow lifts and no stair option is very poor. The breakfast was at a bakery which is a separately owned business in the lobby of the hotel. Limited choices, but at least better than the overly sugary fare on offer at many US hotels. I put my hand on a railing at one point and got paint all over my hand which took minutes to scrub off - not sure if it was freshly painted or they just used paint which didn't stay fast in the summer heat.

Review 117:Location was fantastic and the rooms and beds were good. Staff were friendly, though serving staff in the restaurant were a bit hit-and-miss, some awesome, some pretty average.

Review 118:Location next to light rail causes rumbling noise audible from our 5th floor room. Tri-Met train runs night and day. Hotel foundation seems to pickup sound waves from passing trains. This is very unfortunate, since everything else about this hotel is superb. No complimentary continental breakfast seems odd. $25 parking fee; no self-parking-- is annoying. However, the fee was waived, as a customer service accomodatoon.

Review 119:Bed was too high off ground. Carpet a bit soiled. Fan was loud.

Review 120:Easy to check in, out .. valet worked quickly. Loved modern look of hotel lobby and rooms.

Review 121:Only thing we didn't like was the noise of the trams. Not the hotel's fault.

Review 122:Very new, and luxurious... Not a far walk across bridge into the heart of downtown.

Review 123:There was an horrible smell of paint in our room, because the hotel has been recently renovated. It was so bad that it caused an headache and a sore throat in just 1-2 hours. I fell physically sick and decided to sleep elsewhere, leaving the (tiny) window open as well as the bathroom fan on to vent out the smell a bit. When I came back the day after, the staff had closed the window and turned the fan off (even though I had notified them of the smell and that I was going to sleep elsewhere!) and they did that again the following night. I talked to a few other guests; they all told me that they had similar problems but they couldn't stay elsewhere because all hotels in the city were full due to the combination of a big tech conference and a concert. This hotel MUST do something about the smell; it is probably toxic (if it got me an headache in less than 2 hours). It is a shame that the windows are so small, too, since it is very hard to get some fresh air into the room.

Review 124:The hotel is otherwise beautiful, but if it's impossible to sleep in it without putting one's health at risk, it's not very useful.

Review 125:The cafe had amazing pastries and a long line; the hotel had just opened and I hope they get the staffing needs figured out as they experience their rush times. The tavern was excellent.

Review 126:I understand that our guests had to ask for a hair dryer at the desk. They also commented that there was no iron or ironing board provided. They also found a dirty towel behind the clean ones in the bathroom. The total cost was much more than the confirmation total. I'm NOT happy about that!!!

Review 127:I personally didn't stay there. This was a room we booked for friends. We were lucky to find it as the air show was in town at the same time as the Concours d Elegance in Forest Grove. We had a car in that show, and booked this room for the people who trailered our show car.

Review 128:$25/day parking, but then expensive hotel parking is usually a given. We are okay with it and would rather have the car parked safely in the parkade.

Review 129:Wonderful staff greet you as you enter and leave. Hotel is new and love the room. Standard room size and very modern hotel. Comfortable bed and nice amenity. Close to MAX line but a walk to downtown is rather easy as well. Convention Centre is right across the street. The bakery on the first floor had great breakfast options - love the food. Price was reasonable especially when all the downtown hotels were extremely expensive when we booked. Would definitely choose to stay there again in the future if we visit again.

Review 130:No iron in the room.

Review 131:Staff was accommodating, rooms were simple, clean, elegant. Lots of modern touches that were appealing. Easy to get in and out of.

Review 132:Extremely noisy. We were on the second floor and could hear all outside traffic all night. Very difficult to stay asleep with the traffic.

Review 133:Clean, free wifi, great aminities, extremely comfortable bed and a very nice shower.

Review 134:The bed is insanely tall, making it almost impossible to get into. The art is weird and not relaxing. Definitely a "younger" vibe, but not so successfully done. Price is way too high and insult to injury, you have to pay $25 a night for valet parking, which you have no choice but to use. They also wanted to charge our friends $13 for two hours of parking (in their empty top lot) just to visit with us - which I objected to and they did remove from our bill. Bakery on site makes great stuff and good coffee, but is on the pricey side - eggs, toast, bacon, potato, and a cup of coffee will set you back about $17.00 - Denny's across the street? - they have the same at about $6 - different atmosphere, obviously!

Review 135:Staff members were friendly, kind, helpful, quick to offer assistance, responsive, and fun. Overall, the room was nice, and the location was fabulous. Restaurant on site is very good and has a nice view.
