Reviews for Montauk Manor

Review 1:The loft was even more beautiful in person. Very clean. Lots of sleeping space. They have board games and movie rentals available at the front desk. I forgot my boots in the room and they mailed them back to me in less than 2 days. Excellent service.

Review 2:It was absolutely nothing that we didn't like

Review 3:The staff was just wonderful. We had a beautiful scene of the water from our room that we enjoyed. And we enjoyed the pool. And we had wished we were there when the restaurant was Open.

Review 4:there was a pungent smell of someone cooking throughout the hall, but obviously the Hotel has no control over such a thing.

Review 5:beautiful location. quiet, off-season desolation. easy check in and out. the price was right. really can't complain!

Review 6:Some of the people at the front desk were less than helpful, although none were rude or incompetent. A maid walked into the room without knocking when we had the "do not disturb" sign on our door. The door also opened in the middle of the night, so I think the latch was not functioning properly. The room had a couple broken items, including the tea kettle and the step-on trash can.

Review 7:Beautiful location and great deal. The room was spectacularly clean and the hotel amenities were great. The staff was very courteous and cheerful. The grounds were also beautiful, festive and decorated for the holidays. Because we came during the winter, the hotel was nearly empty, which was nice. Our room had a view of the neighboring cemetery and a little sliver of a pond and the ocean. The free internet and free dvd rentals were a plus!

Review 8:The bathroom was not that impressive, outdated. Shower head was poor and the shower seemed to take longer to rinse. I was told no pets but when we arrived people had pets. The staff when we were leaving weren't all that friendly. The sofa cover could have been cleaned had a few stains.

Review 9:Very pretty when you walked up inside was very nice, especially since it was decorated for the holidays. Property is clean and neat. I would recommend this place, not sure what the prices are during peak time. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. I would like to see in during the summer time.

Review 10:My girlfriend and I stayed in the loft suite for a two night getaway in December. Overall everything was great from the room, hiking, and the restaurants. The Manor also has a great view overlooking Fort Pond. We will definitely be back again.

Review 11:The Noisy family across the hall who thought they had the place to themselves, and let their children run up and down the hallways. The pool attendees sitting there watching you the entire time are unnecessary.

Review 12:It felt like home. Everything you needed was there.

Review 13:My husband & I stayed at the Manor for two nights. We requested a balcony room and had no problem obtaining the request. Rm 323 was very nice with a wonderful water view. (see photo). The accomodations were roomy, clean, and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. No problem checking in or out at the reception desk. Staff were very friendly. Lobby was beautiful. We did not eat at the restaurant so cannot say how food, etc. were. We had no difficulty with parking in lot provided for guests. Since these are individually owned condos you are provided with all the remote devices you will need to operate TV/DVD/Radio for your particular accommodation at check-in, and then you will need to bring all those devices back to the desk at check-out. Great stay!

Review 14:It would have been great to be able to get a hot meal (restaurant) on the premises, but we realize it is so completely off-season, yet, that's what made it so peaceful at the same time

Review 15:Beautiful view, nice grounds, nice, comfortable apartment, a pool was available which is great, but we had little time to explore the facility, so peaceful, renewing, we want to comeback, again, in the off-season.

Review 16:Starting to get a little more crowded that we're used to this time of the year. And they no longer have the off season rates or special packages that they have had around Christmas for so long, which means it's not as much of a value for the money that it once was. Oh, well. That's what happens when more and more people find something this good. We'll still be back!

Review 17:This was our 10th year spending Christmas at the Montauk Manor. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They always seem to be looking for ways to improve the experience and facilities.

Review 18:There wasn't anything that jumps to mind, it was all really nice.

Review 19:The whole place was very nice, staff was fantastic, shuttle service to and from town was excellent!!! Rooms were very clean and comfortable, it was not your typical hotel room, a little to homey for my liking. I'm sure a longer stay would have made the homey aspects much more enjoyable.

Review 20:Clean but for the price, could have been much cleaner. One single duraflame log per day is absolutely not enough for a fire - you will need to buy your own to supplement but really the hotel should provide two a day.

Review 21:Large working fireplace and great bay view. Large Room.

Review 22:Restraunts were closed this time of year but managed to find a nice place that was open in Montauk that had excellent seafood.

Review 23:Location and very clean and orderly room. For a historic hotell, I was pleasantly surprised.

Review 24:Price obviously, but that's why we use booking.com!!

Review 25:The room was just absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed!! Great views and amazing service!!

Review 26:Great place to get away from the chaotic day to day. Montauk is beautiful and quiet in the winter! Friendly staff and accommodations were very comfortable.

Review 27:Yes, one of my boys > age 21 was trying to use computer in lobby. It kept timing our? He asked the man at the desk for help,he was not helpful at all and a bit rude.

Review 28:We stayed in a unit that was new to us. It was great. The smaller room with 2 twin beds was pretty bland. the beds very small and uncomfortable.

Review 29:Fell in room over loose thread in rug, hurt back. Room was very disappointing. thought I would get room like photo. Bathroom was like apartment I had in fifties. No curtains on windows. Room was like that of summer help at Montauk Yahct Club 20 years ago.... Never again would I go there and would not recommend to anyone. The rooms are individually owned I was told and decorated by owner(after the fact). I am surprized management does not check rooms to approve and have input to decorate. More like a $40 a night deal,

Review 30:the frieplace at entrance.

Review 31:Liked the lobby better before they moved the furniture around to the present configuration

Review 32:We have been coming for years for mini vacations. So serene and majestic in the off seasons.

Review 33:I didn't like that it was like an apartment building. The bedding in our room was as if I was staying at my grandparents house....nothing special or super comfortable.

Review 34:Super clean and the location was full of history with a great view.

Review 35:Parking too far from building

Review 36:Charm of the old building with the suite being very modern. The view of the water surrounding the back of building spectacular. Comfortable seating outside to relax and enjoy the view

Review 37:We didn't run into anything not to our liking

Review 38:The accommodations were very comfortable and furnished very nicely. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub very much.

Review 39:WHEN I MADE MY RESERVATION A PICK A ROOM THAT WAS ON ONE FLOOR, A STUDIO. INSTEAD I GOT A SMALL DOWNSTAIRS AND A BED AND BATH UPSTAIRS NOT WHAT WAS IN THE PICTURE

Review 40:The indoor pool was small, but in the summer they have a large outdoor pool also.

Review 41:This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. It 's a castle on a hill overlooking the harbor in Montauk, Long Island. The discount and the upgrade to an apartment room was a fantastic deal!

Review 42:The facilties did not have a meeting area/bar. The restaurant bar was very small and could't have more than 6 pple. When we gathered by the fire places (which WERE lovely) to chat we were told we couldn't talk past 10pm because of quiet hour.

Review 43:It was a neat style building. It was an unusual type hotel experience.

Review 44:Check in and check out procedures were odd and outdated. You received a bag of remotes when you check in that had to be returned to the desk upon check out. (I haven't had to physically check out of a hotel in decades). You were charged half the room rate upon check in and half upon check out which wasn't well explained. The staff ranged from rude to disinterested.

Review 45:The room was nice and very clean. However, here was a lot of hallway noise. In addition, the rooms had none of the charm that the common areas and grounds had.

Review 46:not many choice of food in the restaurant. Food quality is average.

Review 47:Courtesy shuttle was the best amenities. We were chauffered to the lighthouse and the town and back. Whirlpool and sauna was awesome too.

Review 48:Not haunted as the reviews on google says :( Kidding.

Review 49:A great and beautiful hotel with excellent service and fare price. Our room was amazing and give us a touch of the Montauk landscape. The Montauk Manor was quite far from the Montauk downtown, but has a free shuttle service, keep in mind the way to return to the hotel because in lower season there was a very few cabs.

Review 50:Beautiful building, great location, complete with fireplace, restaurant and bar (with highly competent and entertaining bartender Matthew), pool and sauna, and lovely apartments. Will definitely come back!

Review 51:The bed was hard but like everything in life, nothing is perfect!

Review 52:The quiet, yet historical building had a certain charm. Beautiful, scenic views overlooking the long island sound. The 2 bedroom loft was very comfy. The weather was PERFECT. WOuld definitely recommend this resort.

Review 53:The hallways absolutely stink . They reek of smoke and something gross trying to cover up the stale smell. My daughters leaned back in the fold out bed and it started folding up on them. It is dangerous and very uncomfortable. It needs a new mattress and mechanism.

Review 54:The view and the comfort of the master bed.

Review 55:Not to much to do in the town of Montauk. Had to drive to the Hampton's for shopping and a variety of restaurants.

Review 56:Depending on the experience you're looking for, I enjoyed the remoteness.

Review 57:Rooms were a little dated, but still great.

Review 58:Staff were exceptional, especially Janice and her team at reception. Hotel oozed old-world charm. Restaurant was lovely.

Review 59:We really liked the free transportation offered around town. It was a peace of mind that we could enjoy drinking cocktails with our dinner. We don't drink and drive, and the courtesy van pickup back to Manor was prompt and a pleasure to have. We also liked the location. Overall a nice place.

Review 60:MY husband likes that he feels secure there. You can go swimming indoors during the winter months. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful, We have no complaints,

Review 61:Staff at the reception was not very friendly at the reception desk. Price too high for the the type of hotel.

Review 62:Room was spacious and clean. Good views of the Montauk north bay from the property.

Review 63:The cleanliness of the room was a bit questionable, just small details overlooked.

Review 64:Very peaceful and quiet property. The room was spacious and nice. Enjoyed dinner at La Fine too, overall everything was pleasant.

Review 65:Pool area was completely closed on a breezy but warm October day. Would have been nice to be able to relax and read in that area.

Review 66:The grounds and property are really lovely. This would be a great spot to spend a few days in Montauk.

Review 67:Lack of restaurant facilities as the restaurant was only open occasionally and very small. It would have been nice to grab a coffee and a nice breakfast and not just at the weekend.

Review 68:Golf at the nearby Golf course was fantastic.

Review 69:Nothing really.

Review 70:Our room was very nice with a lot of nice touches. Great view from the room. Enjoyed the terrace. Friendly staff. Bottle of wine for our birthdays.

Review 71:The weather but that is not Montauk Manor's fault-hahaha.

Review 72:The staff were all very nice and accommodating. The indoor pool was an added plus for the kids due to the poor weather. The apartment (109) was very nice and perfect for a family with young children,

Review 73:Staff at reception unhelpful and at times rude. They do not coincide with the price tag!

Review 74:Pleasant, clean rooms. Stayed in a luxury suite which was just perfect. I would return and stay in the same room again.

Review 75:they were very adamant that there was no smoking anywhere on the property they should've said something like that in the ad. also The room and the propertie was very dated and needs to be updated. they were very strict about handing me the remotes wgike checking in and requiring I bring them when checking out and very strict about amenities.

Review 76:Beautiful property up on the hill

Review 77:Paper-thin walls. A "rooftop window" or whatever it is called woke me up very early everyday.

Review 78:Hotel is old, but rooms have probably been recently redecorated. Large rooms, important for my family.

Review 79:We were there end September during the week and the restaurant was closed. So no possibility to get breakfast or dinner without going out with the shuttle. The room was not perfectly clean, it was okay.

Review 80:We loved the indoor and outdoor pools and the tennis court. Our room had a beautiful view and was very nice.

Review 81:Not being able to utilize indoor pool and hot tub. The indoor pool was only open when the outdoor pool was closed therefore it wasn't available when we would've liked to use it. I felt the maids could've swept the bathroom floor.

Review 82:Free Shuttle Service. The men who drove the shuttle were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. It was wonderful to park my car and not have to drive it for the duration of my time in Montauk. The cost of the 2 bedroom condo was great! Having the comfort of home along with AMAZING views of the bay and ocean . Being treated to an AMAZING sunset every night. The Sunset Yoga class was fantastic! The on-site spa was wonderful!

Review 83:I always had to ask for extra towel there was three of us and the person making up the room kept leaving two towels and there was no tea available only coffee I was told.

Review 84:The scenery, peaceful and quiet, the spa, jacuzzi, pool, steam room, my room, the lobby, and the yoga......everything the sunset the sunset.

Review 85:The TV and Wifi didnt work until they came up to fix it. Very complex TV remote...Bathroom was old and needed updating. Got in late...Tired from travelling. Ordered food from restaurant. They brought up a plate of food. Fifty dollars with tax and tip...No silverware...No tray...No bread...No parmesan for the pasta...Tacky...I bought a glass of wine and they sent it with me...Half a glass and they put it in a plastic cup!...No breakfast included in fee...

Review 86:The grounds and scenery was gorgeous! The credit card machine wasnt working but they did a paper receipt to get me on my way!

Review 87:Janice the general manager was excellent and helped us work through some booking confusion. She went above and beyond in making our stay extra special

Review 88:The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The pool area was wonderful. My friend and I enjoyed a A great swim and met friendly people. Also the dine around info was wonderful and helpful. The van was an added bonus.

Review 89:We did have four friends and we would have preferred four beds. Two people slept on the couch.

Review 90:Lovely one-bedroom deluxe apartment with ample kitchen, two queen size beds and two bathrooms!.

Review 91:1/ The way We were NOT welcome by the staff at check-in counter. She talked to us as if we were entering a jail facility. Very, very surprising and odd ! 2/ very noisy during the night (very thin walls)

Review 92:The entire staff was wonderful,we couldn't have been more comfortable.Everything was meticulously maintained and beautiful.I would recommend the Manor to all.

Review 93:I didn't like the bathroom area. It was way too small and could hardly close the door while I was inside. Front desk staff was never there. I never saw anyone standing there from the time I checked in to every time that I walked by.

Review 94:Loved the location. Nice kitchen/ living area. The patios on the downstairs level were also nice.

Review 95:Reception people tended to be somewhere between indifferent and grumpy (maybe just a bad day) but the rest of the staff were smily and helpful.

Review 96:Beautiful location with amazing sunsets. Excellent and clean pool in a fantastic setting. Staff were nice and friendly around the pool and restaurant areas Lovely old building

Review 97:It's too far from home so I can't come here more often :(

Review 98:Great town, great food, and great hotel. It truly was an unforgettable trip, and I am sure I will return to this hotel again.

Review 99:The staff was a little rude. When I asked the receptionist what time the restaurant opened for breakfast, she abruptly told me in raspy voice that, "she had no clue because they are not the same company."

Review 100:The location and view of the sunset was unbeatable! The best sunset view in Montauk! Very romantic!

Review 101:I didn't get the room I wanted. House keeping was very slow. We left our room for 4 hours in the am and we put our sign out to clean as soon as possible. We didn't get our Room done until after 2pm very disappointed

Review 102:We have been here before and they were always very accomadating. Not this time.

Review 103:That we couldn't stay longer and had to leave so soon :(

Review 104:Absolutely beautiful hotel ! The grounds are stunning and definitely the best place to view the gorgeous sunset! Had a very spacious 2 bdrm/2 bath loft suite which was nicely decorated and very clean. Had meals at the new restaurant and everything was delicious. Staff was welcoming and accommodating! Can't wait to book another trip in the near future.

Review 105:Room was terribly poor ,bed ,pillow was ugly.Excutive Studio? Was smaller than regular rooms.

Review 106:Was very dissopinting place should name Motel not even Hotel

Review 107:Our room was a bit outdated, but other than that our stay was great. However, grumbling from people around us was noticeable. For example, the pool attendant was rude to the people sun bathing next to us, who he repeatedly accused of having alcohol in their cups (they didn't). Also, we got lucky because we got a room with a view of the water, but in the future I'd definitely request that specifically as the guests in front of us in line weren't happy about their location and view.

Review 108:The view from our room was stunning and the grounds are very well maintained. You can really feel the grand history of Montauk in the lobby and common areas. Also, the hotel is very close to the train station, although you'd have to walk up a pretty steep hill to get there if you're without wheels so don't drag a rollerbag along. We got an executive suite, which was basically an older-style hotel room with a kitchenette. It was serviceable, however I wouldn't want to spend too much time in the room so I was glad we were only a mile from town and the beach so we were out and about most of the time.

Review 109:They do not provide beach towels which seems ridiculous when we travelled from abroad to visit. The rooms are also a little dated and the sofa bed is quite uncomfortable.

Review 110:Lovely views and a lovely location. Restaurant was very good and facilities were very good too.

Review 111:the beds/bedding were horrible. There was bad smell in our room 125.

Review 112:The space in our room was great. The facility, grounds and amenities at the hotel were perfect for families with kids. Loved the outdoor shower.

Review 113:Hard bed, not a good value for the money, kind of rude front desk at Check in.

Review 114:It's too expensive for what u get. Basically you get a room. The pool and the view are all you get for free. Oh there is shuttle service around town but we didn't use it, I guess if you drink a lot at dinner it could be useful. But $450 and up is way too much for the small room with an overly hard bed and a tiny bathroom. The door of the room next to us was at least 50 yards away from our door, we wish the condo unit we were in could have had a little more of that room. We would not return, there are many places closer to town and the beach, they might be as expensive but at least you are near beach.

Review 115:The staff not so helpful, when booked my room I asked for early check in , from 10-11am , told no early check in , No food or beverages served near the poolside . Could not charge food or beverages to the room . Kitchen outdated , needs improvement .

Review 116:The view was beautiful at night. liked the access to the shuttle .

Review 117:Staff very concerned with rules... Signs posted in bath. We count our towels so you will be charged if any missing . Copies of licenses for each room key,

Review 118:Beautiful manicured grounds

Review 119:Restaurant was awful and very displeased with their staff and food. Will never return to eat there and also not sure if I would recommend people to this manor because of it. Was taking a picture at the beauty of it, when employee shoved his hand to knock it down, stating that Men and Women may not be with their partners and no pictures for that reason, disgusting, didn't know than the Manor conducted such filth.

Review 120:Grounds and Manor

Review 121:We liked nothing and certainly will not return. We arrived late on Friday night coming from Manhattan and were given by a very grumpy person the last room available, that is the one with the view on the delivery entrance on a low floor whereas we asked for a high floor in our reservation. We were waken up in the morning by the noise of the delivery trucks. The living room is big but the bedroom is very small and the bed too. The bathroom is small and old with ventilation making a terrible noise. Very far away from an almost 700 hundred dollars room per night, even in Montauk!!

Review 122:It should be listed as an old age community home and not a hotel. We were asked to keep quiet on our own outside patio during the day.

Review 123:Very nice place, location is beautiful but your not by the ocean

Review 124:Room was very antiquated. Looked nothing like the pictures online. We knew we were giving up proximity to the beach but thought we were getting a high end historic hotel. Complained when we arrived and staff seemed pretty indifferent which was annoying. Our first experience with booking.com was pretty disappointing overall. Probably won't use again.

Review 125:Grounds were beautiful.

Review 126:Very expensive room for the qualtity of room you get. We had room 138.There was no furniture to put away clothes or anything else. No where toput your toiletry bag in the bathroom, no cabinet there either. Only oneother mirror than the bathroom, but it was in a corner up in the loft. There are deposits held on your credit card for everything. Tv remotes, room keys (?!), beach pass. Paint was chipping. For $650/night, weexpected way more amenities and better decorated. And have furniture. But nope. Would not staying there again. Unless they lower the price tounder $300.

Review 127:The view was great! And we liked having a fridge and a shuttle. Thehotel itself was nice as was the staff. The grounds were well kept.

Review 128:Very clean, quiet, beautiful views & location, all with a friendly staff. The lobby restaurant "La Fine" the servers were delightful, food was delicious!

Review 129:Hotel staff was unfriendly and not very helpful, poor value for the money. The lightbulbs were burn out in the room, no one offered to help or take our luggage, would not accommodate special requests etc...

Review 130:Shuttle service, friendly and efficient restaurant staff.

Review 131:The only drawback was that we went at the height of the season, so it was extremely expensive and we stayed in an Executive Studio on the fourth floor which is akin to the maid's quarters.

Review 132:The grounds and the views are spectacular. The staff is friendly. The free shuttle is key.

Review 133:I didn't have a bad experience but would've liked a bigger pool. Or a kids pool. Lots of kids in a small area of low end so it gets a little noisy. I have kids so I do understand they should have fun too. More umbrellas would be nice as well.

Review 134:Location on the water was great. Having the jitney to take us around was so convenient. Layout of our 1 bedroom with kitchen was great for our family.

Review 135:The vents in the bathroom were very dirty, the vents had not been cleaned and there was months worth of dust blocking the vent. Breakfast was NOT included and I feel that it should have been at $450 per night.

Review 136:The staff was very friendly, and did what they could to make us feel welcome. The pool was clear and welcoming, and provided towels for guests use. Food was delicious.
