Reviews for Hotel Veritas
Review 1:Great place in Cambridge near Harvard square, pleasant desk staff, complementary juice, water, coffee, snack at reception. modern/indie décor. clean. would definitely stay again.
Review 2:Room a bit small but not a problem
Review 3:Friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds, comp Nespresso coffee, Italian cookies, juice soft drinks, relaxing color schemes, photo art
Review 4:Please add: non-decaffeinated tea choices among beverages; shower caps in bathrooms. We had a "queen" bed, but it seemed smaller than a normal queen.
Review 5:Location was great, room well appointed.
Review 6:The toilet did not work. I had the impression staff was well aware but did not take measures before I was given the room. I think that a hotel of this price and standing should not make such mistakes or offer a compensation.
Review 7:I would have liked better lighting in the bathroom or a magnifying mirror.
Review 8:Our room was well appointed. It was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for us!
Review 9:The staff was fantastic, location excellent. Rooms were small, but clean and comfortable. There were beverages and snacks at the front desk which was great. No room service but menus for restaurants that delivered nearby
Review 10:Very nice little hotel. The room was small but comfortable and nicely decorated. Free soft drinks and coffee at the reception. The location close to Harvard square was perfect for my trip.
Review 11:Clean, comfortable and most of all in a very convienient location. For the price, you get what you pay for. Not cheap but won't break the bank. Staff was wonderful, called to make sure we were happy with our room. Very accommodating. Upgraded us to a king room since it was available.
Review 12:In lots of hotels you are given the option of having your sheets and washed everyday or reusing them. They didn't ask about this so I was a little confused. They replaced the towels each day even though I had them hung but they didn't change the sheets (I don't think). I was there for a week so I would have liked to have them changed once. There was a organizer in my shower that was broken and should be fixed for the next guest.
Review 13:Very nice and helpful people at the reception desk. Whenever I asked for help or advice on things, they were very warm and helpful. The hotel is a perfect location with lots of great restaurants close by. The room was really sweet- not huge but just perfect for me. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. There were free drinks (sodas, coffee, water, juices). They do have a nice patio area and balcony that would be fun to hang out with friends.
Review 14:Bed was too soft and my back hurt each morning. We had a small room which needed a small chair so that I could put on my shoes without having to sit on the bed. Perhaps get rid of the dresser?
Review 15:Espresso in the lobby. Staff was always helpful.
Review 16:The only tiny detraction were curtains that did not completely block light -- their design meant that gaps in the top of the curtain and to the side meant I was awake by 5:45 on a Sunday when far East coast springtime light streamed in.
Review 17:Comfort of bed, quietness of room tops
Review 18:Rooms are super small. Have to go to lobby to make individual cup of coffee, which is good quality, but takes too long to brew when you're just sitting there waiting. Lots of chipped and cracked glass on the furniture.
Review 19:Excellent location, super comfy beds, best I've slept in a hotel in a long time.
Review 20:Some street noise and sound of subway trains can be annoying.
Review 21:Convenient loactaion, very comfortable room and friendly service. Nice to have a luxury hotel that provides off street parking, unlimited coffee, juice and bottled water at no additional charge.
Review 22:Tiny, first floor, traffic facing room. One chair/two guests. Have booked an elegant suite with breakfast in Paris for 2/3 rate for this knee-crusher. This room should be half this price at most.
Review 23:Walking distance to family. Pleasing colors.
Review 24:Wish it had a kitchen. Would really have liked to have had breakfast with out having to leave the hotel.
Review 25:Friendly staff, great location, attractively decorated.
Review 26:Room was too hot. I kept my window open all night, all three nights, in Boston's frozen winter. Espresso machine needs work. Terribly slow, when there's only one coffee machine for the entire hotel.
Review 27:The room was quiet and pristinely clean, and the bed comfortable. Cold water and soft drinks as well as coffee/tea/espresso are always available in the library
Review 28:Having to leave early on New Years as the bed is soooo comfortable.
Review 29:We had really enjoyed our stay in mid december so when our plans changed we immediately looked up to see if Hotel Veritas has an opening and sure enough - we got to spend New Year's Eve there and at a very decent rate. We celebrated New Year' in the lobby in front of the fireplace. I Have to say Laurie and Jason are two of the most hospitable, friendly hotel staff people I have ever engaged with. They could not have been more acomodating!
Review 30:No complaints. Hotel Veritas is our lodging venue of choice.
Review 31:We enjoyed the generous coffee and juice bar every morning. We also loved the spacious, walk-in shower in our large bathroom.
Review 32:Must rate as one of noisiest places I have stayed in - traffic and hotel guests made for a very disturbed night!
Review 33:Nicely located and staff friendly enough!
Review 34:Didnt like that they couldn't match or beat on line prices. The women at front desk much more polite & try hard to be helpful.
Review 35:Linens divine Unbelievably clean & comfortable Staff pleasant and accommodating
Review 36:Noises: 1. subway under the hotel 2, the garbage truck making a lot of noises every morning from 6 to 8 am. Poor internet connection.
Review 37:Staff friendliness
Review 38:The petitie rooms are kind of tough to get travel luggage around and stored.
Review 39:The lobby was so cozy with the , comfortable quiet setting and soft lightiing The bed was luxurious Wonderfully positive demeanor of the front desk staff Location location location
Review 40:Actually, nothing comes to mind, except, perhaps that shower doesn't have a shower handle, but this is typical for most American hotels.
Review 41:Location Comfort (especially bed!) Helpful staff Wifi Complementary bottled water, coffee, tea, etc...
Review 42:It was great that coffee and pastries, sodas and bottled water were complementary. It would be great to add some healthier options such as fruit, yoghurt, granola etc if possible.
Review 43:The room was beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable the bathroom well designed. The staff were friendly and efficient and provided helpful suggestions when I asked about local restaurants and public transport. I'd recommend this hotel highly for both the business traveller and for a leisure trip.
Review 44:Dumpster disposal early Monday morning was long, loud and totally disruptive to sleep. Front desk clerk ignored request to get chair for room. No working hotel computer during stay, only after. HUGE hairball in drawer adjacent bed that should have been cleaned
Review 45:really good location, pretty décor, cool vibe. Comfortable if small room. Good price and if sleep had not been interrupted overall a good value
Review 46:What's there not to like!! Location is good and only a 5 min walk to Harvard central station, some really good restaurants / bars around. The staff are attentive without being in your face. The hotel itself is very welcoming with a lovely reception area and the room is large and relaxing. If you're looking for a small hotel with personal service then you could do a lot worse than stay here and it's very well priced
Review 47:Our room was a bit crowded; no good work area. Other rooms looked as though they had a better seating and work area.
Review 48:Excellent free coffee in lobby as well as juice. Helpful staff. Intimate atmosphere. Comfortable bed. Attractive design.
Review 49:Not having a restaurant or at least breakfast provided.
Review 50:The room, while small, was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice sized. Loved that the property was so close to Harvard Square and public transportation!
Review 51:Some rooms are very small-particularly if, like us, A few days in Boston is just part of a longer trip, so you have lots of luggage.
Review 52:Good beds, excellent linens and toiletries as well as tasteful decorations make this a great choice for staying in Cambridge. Ideally located for visiting Harvard. The original room we booked was pretty small, so we changed to a king room at the front which was excellent. Coffee, juice and soft drinks in the lobby were a pleasant treat after braving the storm that hit Boston during our stay.
Review 53:No wine or beer available at this time - think it is temporary?
Review 54:Wonderful location - close to the head of the Charles site, public transportation and many dining establishments. Complimentary soft drinks. Helpful and friendly staff. Beautifully appointed rooms.
Review 55:You could hear training passing beneath the building if you are a light sleeper. Ask for a room in a quieter part of the building. We were too tired each day and slept well without any problem.
Review 56:We stayed in the beginning of October, and were happy with everything we experienced related to the hotel. It is clean with friendly staff. It is convenient to everything Cambridge has to offer.
Review 57:Awkwardly situated shower door made it hard to get in and out without either dousing yourself in potentially freezing or scalding water or soaking the floor. Small room overall, though it was well appointed and extremely clean.
Review 58:Beautiful room with ambient heat in the bathroom floor. Lots of clothes hangers. Small patio off the room. Friendly staff willing to accommodate our needs (we checked in very late). Complementary water, juice, coffee, etc. available at all hours in the lobby. Fantastic location.
Review 59:No chest of drawers for clothes.
Review 60:Very clean, comfortable room; right near Harvard Square. Great, helpful staff, quiet, walking distance to public transportation, everywhere really. Very good shower.
Review 61:I would have preferred to pay less for parking.
Review 62:My boyfriend and I were meeting up with a friend who works at Harvard so the location was perfect. It's also really close to the Harvard T station (5 min walk). Very easy to get to, and didn't have to worry about parking because they have a valet garage under the building. That being said, valet parking for $34 is their only option on site. The room was very clean and I loved the decor. They have a nespresso machine in the lobby for guests. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 63:The paper thin walls and windows made it impossible to sleep. Whether it was the garbage pickup in the morning, the people out on the street (who's conversations we could hear clear as a bell) or the constant hearing of other patrons go in and out of their rooms. Also, the rooms are quite teeny tiny. My husband and I commented that we would feel bad for anyone tall or of larger stature who had to stay in these rooms.
Review 64:The staff was truly amazing and generous with suggestions and the location was perfect. The decor in the building was beautiful and serene.
Review 65:Microwave and/or fridge in rooms would have been convenient
Review 66:Parking until 10 pm after checkout with no extra charge was excellent and much appreciated!!
Review 67:Very limited food offerings - only some cheese and other snacks for the bar. However, there are so many places to eat nearby this isn't a huge problem to overcome.
Review 68:Nice decor, comfortable beds and clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. For a short stay in Cambridge, and very handy for visitors to Harvard, this little hotel is a very pleasant place to stay. Complimentary tea, coffee, juice and water are available round the clock to offset no fridge/kettle in the rooms.
Review 69:not a lot of space in the room - used to much more room, too small for 2 plus a lot of luggage - but that isn't necessarily fair as you have to pay a lot of money to get space in the USA!!!
Review 70:Location (we were visiting friends in Harvard); friendly staff; cleanliness; attention to detail; decor
Review 71:The price was a little over the top... I chose it because I waited so long to reserve there was nothing available in Cambridge, which I didn't envision in July, but chose it over The Charles which was even more expensive. With exorbitant taxes, it made the very small (but luxurious) accommodations a tad expensive, but it worked well for me; location and comfort wise, so really not a complaint.
Review 72:The hotel was beautifully appointed with all modern amenities and still in keeping with it's historical origins. Quiet, but convenient location to Harvard Square. The staff was engaged which was refreshing. Upgraded my room before I arrived because they had something just a tiny bit larger they thought I'd appreciate. Who knows why or what happened, but it was a win-win.
Review 73:My room had very little natural light
Review 74:All staff were warm and helpful. The room was tastefully designed and very comfortable. Very much enjoyed my stay. The location could not have been better. Given all the above, the price seemed well worth it.
Review 75:While we were there the one elevator was out of service -- twice in four days. Not a problem for us but not a good situation for those with mibility challenfes.
Review 76:The location, the ambiance, the decor, the comfort -- all excellent. We also appreciated that all of the little things -- juice, bottled water, espresso coffee, long distance calls -- were complimentary.
Review 77:Rooms were clean and neat. Great location.
Review 78:Room a little small
Review 79:Great neighborhood
Review 80:Rooms are a little bit on the small side
Review 81:Excellent hotel, great location with great staff
Review 82:Awesome!
Review 83:All was terrific
Review 84:Small, well appointed, soothing colors. Great morning bisquits
Review 85:Room was a little bit small
Review 86:Rooms were very nice and very clean. The vibe was very boutique and personal which was nice.
Review 87:Great small hotel in a convenient location.
Review 88:Great boutique hotel.
Review 89:The hotel decoration is so nice, we love all of it.
Review 90:Great location, short walk to Red line T. Smallish but very comfortable, well kept room. Free hot and cold drinks in lobby. Staff very welcoming.
Review 91:The location.
Review 92:Rooms a little small, but bed was very comfortable. Highly recommended though.
Review 93:Staff was fantastic
Review 94:A bath and a coffee machine in the bedroom would have made it perfect!
Review 95:Location comfort and the view were impeccable. Excellent value for money.
Review 96:Decor, people, overall feel
Review 97:The coffee
Review 98:Small room
Review 99:Location
Review 100:Room was a bit cool, even when I raised the temp on the thermostat. Could have used another blanket on bed.
Review 101:Location is great.
Review 102:Room was very small but ok
Review 103:Very helpful staff.
Review 104:In Harvard, the academic atmosphere is good for me. it can be seen in most place. meanwhile, the staff is good and impress me deeply.
Review 105:One of the tiniest rooms for the price I have ever stayed in.
Review 106:Parking is an issue, on a small residential street
Review 107:I loved the setting, the décor, the comfort of the beds and the friendly staff
Review 108:Room
Review 109:Cleanliness, quiet and the staff professional and courteous.
Review 110:Wish they had muffins or contintental breakfast
Review 111:Loved the convenience, rooms were well appointed
Review 112:Very accommodating staff. Perfect blend of charming and upscale. Waffles, hot chocolate, and yoga across the street.
Review 113:Very narrow streets to get to the hotel in a car, and a small area to leave your car to go into hotel to check in.
Review 114:Close to restaurants and the T
Review 115:Excellent location, beautifully decorated, amazingly quiet. Staff helpful and profrssional.
Review 116:Thin walls, you can hear the adjacent rooms.
Review 117:No dining no bar but nice humberger bar next door.
Review 118:Need drawers Need a desk
Review 119:Great location, excellent staff, clean, comfortable place, free, reliable WiFi. Rooms are well appointed. Cannot fault anything
Review 120:Very small room, parking overpriced
Review 121:Staff helpfulness, room comfort, wifi, location
Review 122:Room layout feels cramped. Room is small but better arrangement would help
Review 123:Staff, service
Review 124:Must rank as one of the noisiest stays ever! Bring your earplugs!!!
Review 125:Great location and nice and clean
