Reviews for The Paramount Hotel Portland

Review 1:Restaurant did not apply automatic 15% discount when staying at the hotel. Room smelled musty. Very loud garbage trucks starting at 3:30 to 6:00 A.M. Unable to sleep and the check out staff "brushed us off " like they'd never heard of it. Very very rude. Desk staff had no info regarding handicap parking available.

Review 2:Restaurants off the lobby were trendy and well appointed. Service was great and menue selection was sophisticated.

Review 3:The bed was not your common cheap hotel bed, it was soft and comfortable. My wife really enjoyed having a jetted tub in the bathroom. The location can't be beat, right in the heart of downtown.

Review 4:Valet parking was expensive.

Review 5:Convenience of location and price. The City of Portland owns several parking garage in town and rates are VERY reasonable. This hotel is 1 block from one of those garages.

Review 6:Attentive staff. I noted in making my reservation that we'd be staying during my wife's birthday. At our room we were greeted with a chilled bottle of Proseco and some nice chocolates. Great touch, thanks!

Review 7:Location, quiet, cleanliness, décor, sufficient blankets, pillows, towels, good directory of local sights, good coffee and tea, helpful & polite staff.

Review 8:I did not like that the shower curtain had large spots of yellow and the shower itself looked unclean and outdated. Also felt that for the price of the hotel that the bathroom would match the beautiful rooms.

Review 9:Loved the grand lobby with both restaurants conviently in the hotel. Great shower products (lotion, body wash, shampoo, conditioner). Great location and very comfortable beds.

Review 10:The staff, especially the valet attendants, could have been a little more friendly and professional. They didn't open doors or get an umbrella for us (it was pouring rain!). The front desk person said, oh yeah, if you need help with your bags, ask the concierge. Not very 'upscale' for a hotel that touts itself as upscale. He also gave my husband a hard time checking into the room.

Review 11:The rooms were big and we had a balcony. It was super close to our holiday party at the Fox Tower. The whiskey bar is one of our favorites.

Review 12:Concierge was not tremendously friendly or helpful. The lobby was a bit small and didn't have a spectacular feel but all in all the hotel was very nice and clean.

Review 13:The trip was for my good friends birthday. I made a note of the occasion during my booking and the front receptionist made sure to say happy birthday and we received a bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate. Great touch!

Review 14:The valet is $35 per day when you can park walking distance for $12 per day.

Review 15:The staff was very friendly and they did not have a microwave in the room but one by the reception desk. Huge room for the price.

Review 16:We stayed one night here as we were going to a family wedding at Mt Hood. Our flight from Victoria to Seattle was late because of weather. We made the connecting flight to Portland but our luggage didn't. It was on the next flight. We finally took the Trimet to the Hotel and our room was ready with an upgrade! Thank you!

Review 17:Noise from construction and general street noise starts around 4am.

Review 18:Helpful professional staff Good size room and bathroom Comfortable bed Great location to walk to downtown stores and eateries. Fun bar on first floor

Review 19:The t.v. in my room was poor. Had to stand right up to it with the remote to change channels. No info available as to what show was playing on the channel so you had to flip through each channel to see what was on.

Review 20:I love the location and the friendliness of the staff. Clean rooms.

Review 21:Our first night there, construction was ongoing outside our room throughout the evening until ~ 2am. I would have appreciated the staff letting us know when I made the reservation, or at least when I checked in, that this was the case. My daughter accidentally left her dress in the closet - we returned to get it after only housecleaning had reportedly been in the room and it was gone. The woman at the front desk was less than helpful and somewhat rude. The restaurant was also very busy and understaffed making service slow and again the staff was just not pleasant.

Review 22:- James and the concierge. Very warm, welcoming and helpful. - the hotel was decorated beautifully, very festive for the holidays.

Review 23:The only problems I had with my stay were minor. When we checked in the staff gave us a quote on the price but didn't inform us of all the extra taxes we would be paying(I live in Oregon and we don't have sales tax). The bill ended up being almost $40 more than the quote. The second was on the morning of departure, the cleaning staff lightly knocked on the door and walked in without much warning. If we would have heard them a little better we could have informed them we were still in bed.

Review 24:The hotel staff was super friendly and always available. The room was decorated very nicely and we had ample supply of hotel toiletries which you usually don't get. Room service was delicious and arrived promptly.

Review 25:the mature doorman was rude and did not help me with my luggage. As I struggled to get my bags out of the car, a young doorman arrived and jumped in to help me.

Review 26:wonderful location and beautiful facility; steps away from the shopping district and very close to the Portland Art Museum

Review 27:Loved this hotel! Location was perfect. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Concierge service was fabulous. Beds were comfy. Good showers, full length mirror and magnifying mirrors are always a plus to have. Loved our corner room and would request it again. Bartenders really know their stuff and we enjoyed talking with them. This is now our "go to" hotel in Portland!

Review 28:I would have liked the room service dishes that sat a few doors down from me on my floor removed the same day. It stayed for almost 48 hours. Also, the late night front desk male could have been a little more friendly since I arrived around midnight after a long flight.

Review 29:Convenience. Doormen were informative and courteous. I liked the water station in the lobby, but it would have been nice to have complimentary coffee available early in the morning and evening.

Review 30:Poor ligh in room, a bit dark if you are not near the bed or armchair lights Refurnishing would be nice The lady doing our checkin-in was not very sympathetic when a very small problem emerged, she did nothing to find a solution.

Review 31:Central location in down town, next to main shops and MAX station. Bed linen are the best ones I've ever had in a hotel. Big and comfortable rooms Both tub and shower in the bathroom

Review 32:I have a little kid and I need to warm water for her to make a milk and I have to go to lobby from 11th floor No microwaves in rooms comparing to service it is so expensive

Review 33:The staff was friendly, clean hotel , close to many things because it was in city center

Review 34:Parking was an extra $35/ night. It's not unreasonable considering it's a 24/hr on call valet. Just something to consider beforehand.

Review 35:The location is the main reason for booking this hotel. The rooms are nice, but that's not what makes this hotel worth the money. You're right in the middle of downtown Portland, and within walking distance to countless attractions and places to eat. Swine, the Moonshine and Whisky bar located downstairs, is also a lot of fun.

Review 36:We only stayed for two nights. The first morning the WC clogged and overflowed. The bathroom ventilator/extractor never worked in spite of telling several members of the Staff who insisted it was automatic (as if we did not know how a bathroom extractor works). The toilet was fixed during the day but it was not registered in the engineer's log book. These nuisances result in a very bad value for money. Pity.

Review 37:The location is excellent.

Review 38:The staff went out of their way to make sure everything about out stay exceeded our expectations, from the hotel itself to any attractions we might be interested in visiting in the area.

Review 39:There is nothing that we could fault with this hotel

Review 40:The location is excellent, staff extremely helpful and the facilities are of a very high standard.

Review 41:Bed was a bit soft (it had one of those annoying pillow tops). Breakfast was not included (I'd prefer this vs increasing the rate but at the cost of this hotel a little breakfast would have been nice)

Review 42:Great location. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and nice.

Review 43:Parking is a little expensive, but that's Portland!

Review 44:Luxury and Location at a reasonable price! Right in the heart of downtown Portland. I liked being on an upper floor (the hotel has 14 floors), so I could have a view.

Review 45:housekeeping didn't come till late in the day...and we had functions to go to. We ended up not having housekeeping!!!!

Review 46:location, staff, food, amenities

Review 47:Bed was not comfortable and don't think what we paid for our stay was that great. just as many good hotels at a more affordable price

Review 48:Location and the SWINE bar in the lobby

Review 49:Had trouble with the TV in our room. We had to have someone come repair it two on different occasions. It was eventually fixed, but bothersome.

Review 50:Great location!!! Comfortable beds. Helpful concierge.

Review 51:One of the guys on the front door was a little less than helpful but the younger guy was more than helpful, there was a noticeable difference in their attitude and energy levels! We all have off days maybe we just caught him on a bad day but never the less it made an impression!!

Review 52:Perfect location beautiful Hotel

Review 53:The rooms were bland, which was fine for our purposes, they did have kind of a motel 6 feel. Water pressure in the showers weren't that hot either. It could be me but I didn't find the mattresses especially comfortable. The sheets smelled of mildew.

Review 54:It was a great location close to food and sites. The staff was very nice.

Review 55:The first room I had was an upgrade apparently but it was right over a very loud mechanical unit of some sort that ran constantly. Consequently it affected my sleep. The bed was not as comfortable as I thought it should be. I asked for a room change and they accommodated that for the second night. That room was not as fancy but was quiet and clean. The bed was better too.

Review 56:I liked that it was a smaller hotel with pleasant rooms and friendly staff.

Review 57:The bed wasn't as comfy as we would have hoped - found we woke up stiff in the morning.

Review 58:location can't be beat. Close to the MAX and streetcar stations and able to walk to all areas of the city. Liked being right next to Director Park.

Review 59:Too expensive. You also have to pay for parking $35per day,

Review 60:Location is great for exploring the city. You can walk everywhere or use public transit.Shopping, restaurants and bars in the neighborhood.

Review 61:Portland traffic and street configuration made initial arrival difficult Checkout person did not thank thank me A bit too smug

Review 62:Great location for walking One very good staff member who was very helpful for making suggestions and reservations Good breakfast choices

Review 63:The valet parking was outrageously expensive. It felt like gouging.

Review 64:We loved the location; we could walk almost everywhere in Downtown, the Pearl District, Old Town and Chinatown. The room was large and we'll appointed and the staff was terrificm

Review 65:The staff was so friendly and helpful. Ed made us feel like we were guests in his home, rather than customers staying at a hotel. I have nothing but great things to say about the entire staff, and the employees in the lounge.

Review 66:Staff were cold and indifferent. They 'forgot' my wake-up call, when I complained they didn't apologize but said they would get back to me - which they never did. The remote in the room didn't work.

Review 67:Bed was extremely comfortable, and the downtown location was excellent. The lobby had a fresh feel to it.

Review 68:Parking was too expensive. The room was clean and had updated decor but was small. The bed was a little too firm.

Review 69:We enjoyed the restaurant and bar in the hotel.

Review 70:Average room amenities for the high price. Old noisy A/C. Bad lighting and no air circulation in bathroom

Review 71:The location in the center of Portland. Corner room with downtown views from higher floor. Friendly staff.

Review 72:While the hotel was just over a mile from the Pearl district, where I requested listings, it was NOT within the Pearl District as I requested. This however, is not the fault of the hotel, but of the booking service. I also felt that for the price, some sort of complimentary breakfast should have been provided. Having said that, I would gladly return to the Paramount if I stay in Portland again.

Review 73:I liked the location and the ease with which I could either get a cab, find a place to eat, catch the cable car, and return to the freeway from my hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the doormen were very courteous and helpful in finding a wine shop locally, among other things.

Review 74:The room and en suite were very comfortable and clean. Both were a good size and had good facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly. The location was very convenient - we could walk pretty much anywhere, and if not, there were buses and trams nearby. Finally, the free wifi worked well. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 75:The overall price may have been slightly overpriced, but I would definitely still stay there again. There was a little mildew in the shower, but that is something that could. e easily fixed.

Review 76:Loved the location!! Walking distance to many downtown places that I wanted to visit. Staff was friendly and courteous. The prices inside of The Swine was very reasonable and the food was great!

Review 77:Took a shower at an off time and it took literally 10 minutes for the water to heat up, probably because we were on a higher floor and because the showers don't put out much water.

Review 78:In the middle of downtown. Not the nicest area, but it's Portland. Good size room, quiet, clean.

Review 79:On the 12th floor we felt we were all alone, very quiet and cozy. The location served us well for the areas we needed to travel to. We were very comfortable with the room, the area and the staff.

Review 80:The hotel seemed pretty empty...I'm wishing that if there is the possibility to have a room with a better view, theyd give us that room. I should have asked

Review 81:Love the staff, the bed, the location, and Swine.

Review 82:Staff and zero customer service. Seems bothered we were visit their location. From the front dest to the restaurants.

Review 83:Only good thing about this place is the location of the hotel. Right in the middle of downtown Portland. Love Portland!

Review 84:The heater/AC unit was very loud.

Review 85:Staff was excellent and service wonderful. We requested and got an early check in. Bed we were comfortable, the location excellent. Had a view from the 15th floor room. Close to the Max Red Line.

Review 86:The ice machine was broken so we bought cold water bottles at the front desk to bring to our room.

Review 87:Excellent friendly staff. Very comfortable room and beds. Great view of the city!

Review 88:The beds need updated. Our bed was way to soft. I guess I could have asked for a different room, but I had one of the executive suites and expected a better bed. Bed in room 1404 needs to be replaced.

Review 89:Beautiful Hotel inside. Very friendly staff members, especially Ed. The atmosphere was calming and room was very quite. Staff were on top of everything. All were helpful and courteous.

Review 90:The bed was a lot softer and the room was smaller (still very nice) than expected. Not thrilled about a conjoining door. I was also not happy that the tub was not jetted as shown in the pictures - the main reason I booked this hotel over others.

Review 91:Location. Excellent location downtown! The room had a very hand book that gave great directions & driving/walking time to local attractions. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Review 92:My friend and I arrived at 12 noon so we could leave our bags. We told the front desk we would return at 4 pm. We arrived shortly after 4 pm and we were informed the room wasn't ready yet! We were ready to relax and we both had to use the bathroom so we were not happy. Finally I asked if we could get another room. We were given one on a lower floor and the view was poor. I called and was told our original room was almost ready. We did get our original room, finally!

Review 93:I can't think of a thing that I do not like. They could have a Member Reward Program to give frequent guests a free night after so many stays.

Review 94:The people who work there are great. Very happy and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable. And I mentioned location.

Review 95:Desk staff attitude and level of helpfulness poor. Very cold in the room with very noisy and ineffective heating system. Old balling blankets packed away in the closet instead of being used to make the beds (it was -2 or thereabouts). Garbage collection loud and long starting before 6 am - glass smashing, refuse compacting for over an hour outside. This hotel needs double glazing and a more pleasant and welcoming front desk.

Review 96:Housekeeping were pleasant and kept the rooms in good order. Hotel looks pleasing from the outside.

Review 97:Shower head lacked comfortable coverage, also on the wrong wall (water straight on you and floor), bed was noisy, lacked snaller toiletries :toothbrush, nail file.

Review 98:Great staff, porter called Ed was the most amazing ever. Great views, great design.

Review 99:Great location and wonderful people. Comfort as always with active views of Director's Park and just a hop from the Portland Art Museum. Easy walking distance from exquisite restaurants with award winning chefs. My favorite place to come for a city weekend!

Review 100:The wall paper was a little worn and should be replaced.

Review 101:In general it is a very nice Hotel and an excellent value. Very walk-able and accessible to transportation with a pleasant staff. There are two restaurants in the building which have drinks good food and and are very convenient.

Review 102:We had a great time and not a thing was bad!!

Review 103:Right down town with lots of room for everything, parking ,room size, ect. The food was not over priced and everything looked and felt new!

Review 104:The shower head was whimpy and the water pressure could've been better.

Review 105:The location was excellent and we really liked Ed at the front desk/concierge.

Review 106:The hotel was wonderful and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed for a night out on the town to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they made the night extra special with a room with lovely views on the 14th floor. The jacuzzi tub was a nice plus and we both had a great nights sleep on the comfy bed.

Review 107:$31 parking (going rate for the area)

Review 108:Location Room Staff appearance, attitude, knowledge Wi-Fi Restaurant/Bar Lobby ambiance Valet parking Staff knowledge of area

Review 109:Arrived 6 PM and took valet parking for a day. Next day were told if we leave car after 3 PM they charge another $ 31 for 2nd day. Very inflexible, considering what parking costs right next door for entire evening ($6).

Review 110:Top location, good service and ground staff, very comfortable and quiet.

Review 111:Restaurant menu was trying to hard to be clever. My partner could not eat most of the dishes and he has quite a broad liking of different cuisines so we never ate at the restaurant. Even breakfast could have had simpler options. Building works across the square were sometimes noisy in the mornings.

Review 112:Location. Lovely Staff. Nice decor. Cool vibe. We'd stay here again.

Review 113:No microwave for late night snacking, but there is one in the lobby, available, and hidden.

Review 114:King suite is an excellent choice. We were well rested. Definitely a place to stay downtown Portland.

Review 115:the heater/AC vent whistled continually. My wife had sensitive skin and the sheets made her uncomfortable,

Review 116:Double queen room was great size, large bathroom

Review 117:The only thing I didn't like was that housekeeping would only service your room before 3p. If you have the Do Not Disturb sign hanging past 3p, they won't come straighten/clean your room.

Review 118:I really liked the location of this hotel; it is not so SW of the city as not to be convenient to a lot of other places. The area is relatively quiet and very close to the MAX and bus lines. The staff always had good recommendations and answers to my questions. And the Swine Bar attached to the hotel serves up some great cocktails, including moonshine (try the apple pie). I would recommend and stay there again.

Review 119:We were upgraded to a corner room with jacuzzi. Peaceful sleep that night, after a wonderful dinner at South Park (recommended by a very knowledgable concierge) just around the corner. Enjoyed the Hotel Bar "Swine" - great bar keeper. The staff of this Hotel is very helpful but never overbearing. We will come back.

Review 120:Noise outside in the morning (often a problem with city centre hotels), slow service in the restaurant for breakfast and a bit pricey.

Review 121:Location, room and an excellent knowledgeable concierge. Nice bar and restaurant.

Review 122:My cell phone wouldn't work in the room, and the Wi-Fi signal was weak. Cost of valet parking was high - there is a nearby garage where you can park for $15 overnight, rather than $31 for the valt parking.

Review 123:We loved our room, which had a private balcony off it. The king-sized bed was very comfortable. There was a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. The breakfast was excellent (but not included in the price of the hotel).

Review 124:Not a lot. However there was some construction work in front of the hotel that might bother you if staying on that side. Our room was on the 14th floor at the side of hotel overlooking washington park....great spot.

Review 125:Location-easy access to transport and attractions in city. Staff - friendly and helpful.

Review 126:We couldn't fault our stay in, we were within walking distance to everything. Loved having a drink in the bar and enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant.

Review 127:Convenient location at downtown Easy connection with PDX via MAX Many shops and restaurants within a walking distance Very professional and helpful staff

Review 128:housekeeping woke me up even thought the "do not disturb" sign was on the door, VERY expensive parking for Portland,

Review 129:boutique feel, comfy/spacious room, big bathroom, friendly staff, good location (everything was a 10min walk away, also close to public transit)

Review 130:Parking 31 dollars even with a handicap sticker

Review 131:our Porter Ed went way out if his way to be helpful valet staff too wasnt that impressed with the front desk staff though especially when I called for info the hotel itself is very nice

Review 132:Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. They worked to make our stay comfortable and relaxing and fun. The rooms were clean and well appointed. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 133:Maybe a pool

Review 134:Upon arriving we were greeted warmly. Went right to our room to settle in. We asked the Conciser for information on where and when to go and he was very helpful.Great experience for my young granddaughter.Location was perfect for what we wanted to do.
