Reviews for Royal Sonesta Boston

Review 1:The pool was closed, which we didn't realize till we'd booked. There was a shuttle being offered to another hotel's pool but who wants that? The location was also a bit far from the center of Boston, but good for Cambridge.

Review 2:The Charles River views were spectacular. The bed was suuuuuper-comfy and it was all spotlessly clean. Cool lobby area and very useful cafe on ground floor.

Review 3:NA

Review 4:The staff was really helpful and friendly; always greeted me with a smile. Was given a free upgrade upon arrival. Being near TD Gardens and the Cambridge shopping centre was an added bonus.

Review 5:Quiet, close to many Boston Sites, Fleet Center , Faneuil Hall, North End, Museum of Science - All within walking distance or a short ride. nice view of Boston Skyline and the Charles River !

Review 6:I loved this hotel. Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Loved the water view with Boston skyline. Also very convenient. My only complaint would be the parking fee

Review 7:Very small rooms. Of you are close to the elevator it is like a train is running through the building every 2 seconds. Staff is arrogant

Review 8:Wonderful view

Review 9:We expect for such a level/price hotel to have complimentary water. In our room, on right side of window, the tapestry was detached from the wall. Not very nice. No slippers. We were in 2 excellent hotels just before that in Canada, sorry to say, they were another class.

Review 10:The view is stunning. The location is nice, not too far from subway stations. Relatively easy to access by car.

Review 11:Room booked was not available so they gave us a smaller room but charged the same price. Room we were given was like a box room and wasn't worth the price charged. The room was right next to the lifts and this was noisy and could be heard in the room and kept us awake at night. The bathroom was tiny and had only one towel rail to hang up towels. Overall for the price paid very disappointed in the facilities. I have stayed in hotels all over the world which charged less and provided far superior facilities

Review 12:Location was good

Review 13:There were 4 of us in our room but the items provided such as towels, cups, glasses and water ranged from 2, 3 and 4 in number so we had to request additional items. Difficulty with wifi in that there is a restriction of 6 items per room that can have free access, most people tend to have a phone and an iPad so this isn't enough for 4 travellers.

Review 14:Our 6th floor room had a lovely view over the harbour and Boston and our stay coincided with the lunar eclipse. We were able to exit the hotel straight onto the harbour front and walk along towards the bridge and over to Boston so didn't need to rely on transport. The staff were all pleasant and helpful responding to our questions and requests to ensure we got the most out of our short stay.

Review 15:when we ordered anything like an empty tea kettle it took half an hour. and when they accidentally delivered an empty tea cup, they asked us to pay for the delivery charge of the empty tea cup

Review 16:location and view

Review 17:The food had dis improved hugely compared to my visit last year a really big let down and the two bar men in the art bar were both rude and had attitude.

Review 18:Location was excellent for my trip. The hotel is v comfortable and the art work is good

Review 19:That I did not have any in room slippers, that the toilet seat touches the shower glass door thus uncomfortable when seated and that the fridge was empty.

Review 20:The staff, the location, the view. I know where to go when in Boston.

Review 21:The air conditioner wouldn't go cold enough. Maintenance came straight away and 'fixed' it but still wasn't consistent even after overriding it.

Review 22:Staff were very friendly and efficient

Review 23:Restaurants were not exactly for children, but plenty of kid friendly spots across the street at a Cambridgeside Galleria.

Review 24:Great pool area. Clean, looks brand new.

Review 25:Not a thing

Review 26:It was our Anniversary and we requested a room with a good view and we surely did. Our room looks out to the beautiful Charles River. Thank you !!!! ;))))

Review 27:Professionalism of employees, very polite ,smiling and efficient. Room comfort , the hotel is very well maintained .it is royal . we will return in the fall.

Review 28:US$300 per night room was over priced, breakfast not included nor biscuits for tea and coffee in room and bottled water in room was also charged for!

Review 29:Close to bus tours

Review 30:The restaurants had great food, just a little slow on the service and couldn't eat an early breakfast outside.

Review 31:The location was great, next to the Charles and the mall, can walk to everything.

Review 32:I did not enjoy staff being unable to locate my reservations when telephoned or when my family came for breakfast. Although ultimately, all worked, it was stressful and vonsumed oart of our travel time.

Review 33:the bed and pillows and linen were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 34:There were 5 weddings during the week end of our stay. Check-in took too long, the hotel was noisy and I was informed that both restaurants were open on Sunday, upon arrival at the Italian restaurants I was informed that it was closed for a weddings.

Review 35:Be prepared you will be charged $75 insurance which is refundable and a parking fee.

Review 36:Very nice and comfortable room with a great view of the Charles River.

Review 37:The staff could not help me with a high comfortable chair in the bedroom to sit in privacy and work at the desk on my computer . They could not help me with a soft small bed pillow .

Review 38:Swimming pool

Review 39:Despite having paid USD 500 per night, I was allocated a room right next to a double elevator shaft, which was noisy - not something that makes you happy after an intercontinental flight. The room was also very small and weirdly shaped, with a shower-only bathroom that was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel of this level. Wifi dropped away frequently. Although I asked for another room, this request could not be satisfied until the next day because the hotel was overbooked. Advice: avoid X08 rooms in the East wing, in particular on the lower levels

Review 40:The reception staff, which were all friendly to a fault. Rosalie and others: my compliments! The room I was changed to the next day was what I would expect for the money.

Review 41:The customer service was fantastic. This was my first stay at the hotel and they upgraded me to a suite with a river view. The room was beautiful, the view of the city was spectacular and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

Review 42:I have been travelling since more than 15 years. And I exacly most of the hotel chanes arround the world . If You ask me what did I like about Royal Sonesta , i would say absolutly everything !! YES! EVERYTHING The location inthat part of the city. MIT + Central Square - Harvard square the train station . The Mall , the View!! The facilities !! Just awesome ! Clean , everything is just ideal and quite !! Such a wonderful Staff !! Very kind and helpful . I have to thank the person who entroduced Sonesta to me really !! Thank you dear... Simply Thank you Royal Sonesta or making my trip fun !! If you look to have a quality time . Sonesta is the place.

Review 43:Great river-side view of the city. Huge mall right across the road with Macy's and Cheesecake Factory & more. Staff polite, very helpful and accomodating.

Review 44:Gave detailed description in my first review. Extremely dissatisfied.

Review 45:Very clean small room, nice view from our room, comfortable bed, great location

Review 46:In hotel restaurants were over priced, for what they were. For the price of the hotel you would expect something truly outstanding. This wasn't.

Review 47:great location, modern room, view from the window was fantastic

Review 48:For us the price point was a little high I know were right next to the city but that's just us and how we travel but my daughter and I wanted to get away for the weekend other than that really nothing

Review 49:Traveled with my young daughter (five years old) and all of the staff were so attentive to her engaging her really was comfortable to go to the pool even though we had to cut through the lobby room was clean comfortable and I have to give special attention to the room cleaning service as they went above and beyond with taking care of our room we only stayed two nights when we came back to the roomon Saturday I was mesmerized by what they had done we just left our suitcase on the floor they picked it up and put it on the suitcase packed up our dirty clothes in a bag they really went above and beyond

Review 50:I was traveling with children and the couple next door were up all night having VERY loud sex. Try explaining that to a young child.

Review 51:The pool was very nice. My kids loved it.

Review 52:No TV guide listing in the room (?); TV channel listing on the TV did NOT match actually tuned channels (hunh?); restaurant posted as open until 10, but kitchen closes/closed at 9:30, so we had (my first time ever at a hotel) to actually order delivery.

Review 53:comfy bed; interesting automatic (motion sensor) floor lighting; first pocket bathroom door I've ever seen in a hotel (not certain I'm a fan);

Review 54:Poor internet connection, i needed to use my phone internet all the time.

Review 55:Comfortable beds, super clean bathrooms, coffee machine, big tv, river view, In front of Galleria shopping mall and city sight seeing tour station

Review 56:Food in the bar was rather expensive but food in general is expensive in the USA restaurants.

Review 57:Room was large and well appointed. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Hotel was in a great location opposite the hop on hop off tour bus. Also a large mall across the road.

Review 58:My first room was next to the elevator and very noisy but I could chnage it

Review 59:Well located, close to Boston downtown and next to Cambridge shopping mall. Nice swimming pool Confortable room and nice river view Different options for breakfast : restaurant or on the go are very convenient

Review 60:I thought the scam of the mini bar charge was outrageous. This would have me consider if a would stay again.

Review 61:The river view of Boston skyline was was outstanding

Review 62:It was like pulling teeth to get a taxi into Boston, which was only a 5 minute drive. The door staff was only marginally helpful with this. There is no breakfast room service per se, which I'd expect for nearly $500 per night. They brought our breakfast to us in a paper bag. Trendy is one thing, but please, let quality "evolve" with the culture.

Review 63:The hotel was well decorated. The atmosphere was relaxing.

Review 64:Overpriced for quality: hotel has seen better days (no soundproofing against noisy neighbors, shower poorly designed), ridiculous surcharges for room service. Difficult access to public transportation.

Review 65:Gorgeous view over Boston skyline, pleasant & courteous staff.

Review 66:1) the bed is a little bit too soft 2) the room key is a little bit strange, which I have to renew it everyday

Review 67:1) great view of river....and yacht :) 2) value for money 3) easy for shopping (cambridge gallery is just opposite the road with TJ.Maxx, Macy's, Sears,.....) 4) quiet enviroment 5) the room is big enough so that it still not so busy after putting an extra bed in 6) close to Lechmere(green line end) and when you go there you will also have chance to enjoy the canal park scene

Review 68:After paying $439 for the room, they have the nerve to charge for parking and the water left in your room. Room was small and dark and the bed and pillows were not comfortable.

Review 69:Housekeeping though out our food. But they gave us meal on them.

Review 70:We like the bed and the pool and room service. Asuka and Jade was so helpful. And was so much fun. And Justine was totally helpful also. My son had stepped out on the balcony of the room and gotten paint on the bottom of his sneakers. So they changed our room and also got the paint off his sneakers. My kids and I had fun and relaxing.

Review 71:Our room was so close to elavators so elavator noise disturbed us.

Review 72:River view was great and location of the hotel is very good. Hotel is very close to Gallery shopping mall and some nice restaurants. Hotel is also close to lechmere and Kendell subway stations. Batr of the hotell is also cheap and nice.

Review 73:Our arrival was met by optional valet parking, the open and clean lobby had a courteous greeter who guided us to the front desk. The front desk personnel were friendly (even though we were wearing Yankees apparel

Review 74:the windows on the rooms are really small and you cant barely see any thing. the staff are snob and and I had to chance rooms twice since they keep give us lower floor with no view at all even after we pay for the river view no bath tub also the bathroom( that I also pay extra for it).

Review 75:location

Review 76:Our room was near the elevator and folks were nosiy all night

Review 77:Loved the location. Right on the river. Right across from a laege mall and several blocks from the T

Review 78:The room is a kind of small but acceptable. There is no coffee/tea available inside the room. I have to get a room service instead .

Review 79:The bed is quite comfortable. Although the window is a kind of small but it does have a nice river view. And, nice bathroom too.

Review 80:Some building work being carried out which at times was very noisy and we had to go out for the day to avoid it....would have been nice to have been informed before we arrived. As mentioned the room could be a little noisy. No tea or coffee machine provided (although advertised) but were given one when we asked, however teas and coffees were not replaced daily so assume its not something they usually supply.

Review 81:Valet parking very convenient but not cheap. Excellent "Art Bar" good food and very good service and attention from Issac our waiter and all reasonably priced. Very nice room. Dantes restaurant with an Italian theme, a little too specialist for us and also quite expensive, however we did find the food good quality. Room very nice with a great view but a little noisy in corridor and also upstairs. Good base to explore Boston but being on the Cambridge side of the river it is a 10 minute ride by metro into Boston centre...or a half hour walk. The Cambridge Galleria shopping Mall and food Court just 2 minutes away so perfect for cheap Breakfast or meal and also the Cheesecake Factory.

Review 82:Booked five months in advance. Check in time is 3pm . Room wasn't ready till close to 4pm. Jack hammering construction in the lobby . Way overpriced.

Review 83:Nice pool good location

Review 84:It is still a fair distance to Harvard where I spent most of my time. I spent a lot on taxi fares.

Review 85:The breakfast buffet was delicious and provided plenty of choices. I had a lovely view of the river and city and a comfy seat to sit in to enjoy it. It was very pleasant being able to walk into Boston along the river.

Review 86:Bad shower design. Noise from the heater.

Review 87:View.

Review 88:The pool was closed for repairs which may have changed our booking had we known ahead of time.

Review 89:The view from my room was great and the location was convenient.

Review 93:neither the bed nor the heating system were comfortable.

Review 94:the location and hotel ambiance

Review 95:Great bed and nice crisp, white, sheets.

Review 96:Darnella at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was as comfortable as could be.

Review 97:East wing rooms. ( 270 sqft) are too tiny for comfort

Review 98:West wing rooms are better

Review 99:nothing

Review 100:everything

Review 101:didn't give us the room that I requested. The room is in the end of the hallway, cant see anything through the window.

Review 102:The location is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful

Review 103:TV system it is really bad,

Review 104:Had to make additional requests, wait and change rooms to get a good room with a view

Review 105:Fantastic facilities and staff

Review 106:We were only staying for one night (sadly) but it was a lovely hotel and we would use it again

Review 107:The view from window is partly blocked by the wall
