Reviews for Hotel Sagarnaga

Review 1:Our first room did not have a good shower head, but we were moved and it was fixed right away. The workers in the restaurant weren't always around and make sure your Spanish is good to order from them! We did get very, very sick while in La Paz but this wasn't until our 3rd or 4th night there so this might not have been from anything at the hotel.

Review 2:The workers at the front desk were all extremely helpful and efficient. The hotel is walking distance to everything and despite the appearance of the surrounding areas, we felt quite safe here. We had hot water in the room and were even brought a heater. The discounted rate from Booking.com was also a plus :-)

Review 3:Breakfast included could have some healthier options. Other guests were noisy and inconsiderate (yelling in the corridors etc) - but that's not a negative to the hotel at all.

Review 4:Nice room, great value for money. Shower was hot and worked well. Bed was comfortable.

Review 5:It was cold like really cold I was covered by two blankets and wearing a hoodie and still shivering .

Review 6:Location near everything ATM ,money exchange, market and center .

Review 7:I stayed on level 4. Light bulb in room was spoilt and I have to wait for 10 minutes to have someone repaired after checking in at 8pm. There is no water (not even hot water) as the current was not strong enough to go up to level 4. The staff came and took about 10 minutes to resolve the water issue. Water is mild and still not hot. Bathing cubicle is dirty with still mud in it and I had to wear slippers to bath in it.

Review 8:Comfortable bed.

Review 9:Cold rooms (apparently heated rooms are rare in la Paz though) Didn't get a double bed despite booking in advance and stating we were on honeymoon. Initially given a room on wrong side of hotel without city room despite requesting room with good city view.

Review 10:Central location

Review 11:- nothing - this was a great place to stay in the tourist area of La Paz

Review 12:- friendly staff, great location, well set up, simple breakfast - moved here from noisy nearby Hotel Fuentes - this was such a delight - I understand why tour operators such as Dragoman etc use it

Review 13:No internet in rooms and very slow in hallways and lobby. Towels aren't so clean. Breakfast is very poor.

Review 14:Hot water pressure in shower. Staff is English speaking.

Review 15:wifi not working very well in the rooms breakfast room too small to welcome all the guests but good breakfast

Review 16:perfect location in Sagarnaga street simple room but still quite cheap so OK very helpful personnel

Review 17:Only little amount of water from the shower if you want it to stay hot and small bathroom. Bad Wi-Fi connection in the room.

Review 18:Perfect location. Breakfast buffet with fruit was good. Bed was fine. Laundry service ready the same day. More professional place to stay comparedmto other placesnwe stayed.

Review 19:Pretty dirty sheets and bathrooms. Tired place, needs refurbishment.

Review 20:The views are awesome if you're on the right side of the building. Loved the computer area and the cafe next door!

Review 21:Room was slightly outdated, but clean. Only one hanger in the closet. No extra towels to dry your hands or put on the bathroom floor. Bathroom was missing tiles.

Review 22:Excellent location in the middle of the restaurants and tour operator offices. Plenty of hot water in the shower.

Review 23:In the evening they didn't let us pay for our stay and when we were paying in the morning they couldn't give us the change.

Review 24:It is located right in the city center. We felt safe in the hotel.

Review 25:Breakfast was a bit basic (no eggs, which is always my standard), especially as we had to have it sitting next to others who had paid for nicer food!

Review 26:The location is really really good, and we were amazed by the quality we got for the price. Comfortable rooms, helpful staff, a room to store stuff in and place to change afterwards, help getting safe taxis... they were great.

Review 27:The room is so cold at night as there's no heating. It's pretty cold in La Paz in winter, like -1C at night. The breakfast is too basic, just bread and banana and coffee.

Review 28:The location is super!! 3 minutes walk to almost all the main attractions.

Review 29:Petrol smell throughout the bedroom whilst having a shower. At least we had hot water but is the water really heated through petrol!? Room was cold. Sometimes tour groups stayed in the hotel and created mayhem at breakfast time. Impossible to get near the food for an hour even if you are in a rush for onward journey.

Review 30:Plenty of blankets to keep you warm. Breakfast was good. Travel agent attached to help organise onward journeys. Cafe next door is wonderful and even bring room service if you like! Location couldn't be any better!

Review 31:Wifi only works in reception Breakfast was average

Review 32:Good location on main shopping street. Great views from higher floors. Helpful staff - managed to accommodate our request to stay an extra night at the last minute, despite being very busy.

Review 33:Had to ask several times over a couple of days for a heater to be supplied as advertised when it finally came it barely worked. Bathroom was dirty just some hairs a dust but a little gross.

Review 34:Location is great, elevator, English Speaking staff, price,

Review 35:Check your bill before you pay! They charged me for 1 additional night for the early check in which I requested during my booking and they agreed. They also added taxi fare to hotel in the hotel bill which I paid by myself when going there from bus terminal. No heater and not enough blanket, could not sleep well at night during cold winter Poor wifi connection

Review 36:Location

Review 37:We found it very cold in the hotel .. We even had to sleep with emergency foil blankets. You could tell the hotel was old so you could see all the rust in the bathroom, and all of the dirt that has been accumulating for years and stains in the bathrooms which were a little bit disturbing.

Review 38:The staff was very friendly and accomodating and always willing to help.. And were able to speak in english! Even when we arrived in la Paz at 6 in the morning they were able to get us a room right away.

Review 39:The Wifi is relatively weal in the room.

Review 40:We arrive La paz very early in the morning, the staff let us to check in earliear that we can takeva hot shower after long distance. Very close to cafe, reastaurant and shopping area.

Review 41:wifi only in the reception area , if can be in the room , it is better and convenience. but hot shower need to take a little bit longer , then water change to warm only , not very hot.

Review 42:staff helpful and nice. Louis answer me many questions even some staff can speak a little English.

Review 43:shower overflows on bathroom floor no wifi in the room only lobby area room not cleaned properly

Review 44:good location helpful staff nice restaurant within the hotel (café del mundo)

Review 45:breakfast was basic.

Review 46:a group of us stayed in seperate rooms. all clean. greatly appreciated the early check in after a 12 hour bus journey!also the hot shower!the location is unbeatable.historical sites, restaurants and atms along the street. felt safe. booking fine print allowed a booking of 2 twin rooms for 2 not 4 people!a lower Price was honoured by the hotel. overall good value for money.

Review 47:Very poor breakfast, poor wifi

Review 48:Good location, it' s located in tourist street near to making square with many restaurants, cafe, markets. There is a tourist agency in the hotel.

Review 49:Very cold! No heating Even in communal areas. Also, WiFi was very slow.

Review 50:-let us check in early and have breakfast that day with no extra cost -great location for markets and tour agencies -hot showers -cable tv

Review 51:Bathroom could be cleaned better, wifi only available in lobby.

Review 52:Very central location in the heart of the city. Friendly staff and easygoing. Breakfast was average but better than nothing. Lots of international guests and staff speak English and also happy to help. Many great restaurants outside and lots of street markets. Staff also pointed out the dangerous areas to us which was a great help. We had a great city view and the hotel is quiet at night. Newish beds were very comfortable. We would return.

Review 53:We got a room with very poor view on the city. For the same price the view across the corridor was gorgious. We only realized on the last day of our stay (4 nights) In such a case of people staying long, they should attribute a room with a good view !

Review 54:Nearly everything was perfect, breakfast could be improved though.

Review 55:Bathrooms, sadly, were a bit rubbish: some mould, difficulty getting hot water at times; not as clean as the rooms.

Review 56:Staff were brilliant, especially during one incident where a very rubbish tour company wanted to leave without me (despite it being earlier than they had told me to expect them) and they pretty much prevented them from departing. Can't get a better location either.

Review 57:The young man (with a cap around his head) who tried to rob me at Plaza Murillo a day earlier was having breakfast as well He did not salute me!

Review 58:This is a good hotel, with a good breakfast. Security is good in a crowded neighbourhood.

Review 59:WiFi only in the lobby, if you really need.

Review 60:If you are tired of sleeping in a bunker and need a private room, private bathroom with good hot water, this is your place. Good location in La Paz. I walked most of the time. Cable TV. They allowed to check in at 8:00 am. Thank you to the staff. Good value for money. I got a room facing east, nice view of the city.

Review 61:The only place you can recieve wifi is in the lobby.

Review 62:Great location central to markets, restaurants, bars and tour agencies. Friendly staff that are very helpful.

Review 63:No restaurant was raised by other guests. Personally I didn't mind.

Review 64:Your staff. The price The rooms Location It is is a very friendly hotel, with knowlegable, friendly, helpful staff. It is very well located in central La Paz. It is an excellent budget hotel. Keith Allen

Review 65:No wi-fi and the bathroom had spots on the walls. The baskets where paper is thrown was really dirty and nasty.

Review 66:Great staff and amazing location. It's a good area where you as a tourist can walk alone during night time.

Review 67:Wifi not operational in room . Staff compensated by letting us use a room (on level 1 )so we could talk to our bank in private.

Review 68:We liked the friendly and helpfulness of staff, location and cafe mundo.

Review 69:The rooms, bathrooms and towels all needed a make over

Review 70:The hotel is right in the heart of handicraft and tourist travel/ restaurant area. The staff were very kind and helpful

Review 71:1. poor breakfast 2. construction working and very noisy early in the morning everyday, including Saturday and Sunday. 3. terrible ascpet of the bathroom 4. terrible shower

Review 72:1. Price (though I would pay more for better facilities) 2. Location 3. responsiveness of clerk

Review 73:For those who are allergic to dust, might find some problem once every room has carpet on the floor.

Review 74:The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The location is pretty good with lots of restaurants and bars along the street. The cleanness is very basic, but enough. If I had to be back at La Paz I would definitely consider this hotel again.

Review 75:Building work during the day on the roof which was very loud but if you are out all day, not a problem anyway.

Review 76:Had a very comfortable stay at this hotel, we were both ill and had to keep extending our stay and this was no problem at all with the staff. Rooms a good standard for a cheaper hotel in Bolivia.

Review 77:Wifi was but working at room. But working at reception areas. Noisy from other rooms.

Review 78:Easy to visit many touristic areas. Friendly staff. Hot water for shower. Good for the budget.

Review 79:The location is good...close to city center, souvenir street and a restaurant which has a Pena show. The staff is kind. They are interested in Japanese and speak to me in japanese.

Review 80:The wifi didn't work on my floor for 2 days and only worked in the foyer lounge. The staff seemed to want me to finish what I was doing after 1130pm to lock up.

Review 81:The hotel was in the centre of the tourist area with agencies, markets and restaurants of many types within walking distance. Bilingual staff helped when my spanish faltered.

Review 82:it took a few minutes for hot water to come.

Review 83:Everything was organised. There were a number of computers to use in the dining area. They also have English language news channels on TV which I appreciated. The breakfast was good enough. The staff ordered a taxi for me which came on time. No complaints.

Review 84:Our room was terrible! The shower was cold, the window of bathroom was broken (so the room was cold). We have to use our sleeping bag because the linen bed was disgusting! Staff not polite. I definitively not recommend this hotel.

Review 85:The location!

Review 86:Location!

Review 87:The service in the restaurant was slow for anything other than the complimentary breakfast and they put the room keys on this block of wood about the size of a small cup of coffee. You can't put it in your pocket and I almost didn't get into a soccer game because it was in my backpack . They did not allow things you could throw at the players and officials.

Review 88:We were looking for a budget hostel when I read reviews about Hotel Sarganaga. At this price why stay in a hostel? The location was the best, Sarganaga is a place to purchase artisan souvenirs, the witches market is right around the corner, there are tour guides, money exchanges, ATMs and many restaurants all within walking distance. The hotel staff was very helpful, the rooms while small we're comfortable and clean. Some of the small idiosyncracies were the solar hot water system, had to let it run for a while, the wifi was spotty at times but it was just about everywhere we went in S. America.

Review 89:The wi fi didn't work in the rooms. It did work most of the time in the lounge area down stairs, but if more than 2 people were trying to use it at the same time, it became painfully slow and often just wouldn't work at all. The breakfast was the standard basic hotel fare. Bread, jam, a banana and truly terrible coffee and orange juice.

Review 90:As in all things in life, you get what you pay for. This is a fairly priced basic hotel in a great location near the witches market. The room was clean, and the shower was hot (with a bit of fiddling around with the switches that is. Weird electric showers....) They provided an oil heater for the room, which worked well to tell the chill off in the evenings.

Review 91:Trying to stay on top of business whilst away I needed the wifi - there were times when we could not get it at all.

Review 92:Having 24 hour check-in was great - our flight arrived at 5.30am. The hotel is right in the middle of the tourist area, close to markets and all the Independence Day Events at San Francisco Plaza. At all times the staff were friendly and helpful. Having the elevator as great particularly being on the 5th floor and at altitude. The area felt particularly safe - We extended our stay.

Review 93:It wasn't very clean. We requested a non smoking room but peoplewould sit in the hallway and smoke right outside our door. They wayovercharged us, but I didn't catch it until we were on our way tothe airport. They literally charged us double what the booking.comreservation said.

Review 94:Right on sagarnaga st, it was very convenient to food, drinks, andsights. The staff was very helpful when we first arrived. They offerroom service from the great little restaurant next door.

Review 95:Breakfast quite basic unless you pay for extras, but same as most other places

Review 96:Friendly and helpful staff, quiet rooms, comfortable bed, good location for sights and nightlife, cable TV. Pretty decent for a budget hotel

Review 97:Breakfast in the morning with few options. The bed has an iron that can hurt people distracted.

Review 98:Great location. Helpful staff.

Review 99:Breakfast was meager and the shower had zero water pressure and was only warm, not hot as promised.
