Reviews for Grand Canyon Hotel

Review 1:I wish the owners would invest in good mattresses...the current ones are awful. There have been some good changes in décor, but the mattresses were just terrible.

Review 2:We love the history of the hotel, and the staff are always very friendly

Review 3:Other guests leaving their towels in the bathroom.

Review 4:There are two bathrooms with showers for those that stay in the shared Bathrooms. For our stay it was very easy to get into the bathroom.

Review 5:The location of the hotel and the facilities were excellent. We stayed for one night on our way to Williams. The Hoover Dam was a short drive away and we had stunning views of Lake Mead from our room.

Review 6:Parking is restricted on the main street in front of the hotel so you must park on a side street or in the dark behind the Hotel. Our mattress had a thick plastic cover on it which both made noise and was uncomfortable to lay on.

Review 7:At age 66 I had never stayed in an old time Hotel so this was an adventure. It's located in the heart of town with dozens of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Rooms are all themed.

Review 8:- Ventilation is not very good, one room does not have window - It took our 1.5 hours to Grand Canyon by driving

Review 9:- The motel's decoration is simple but very characteristic

Review 10:The shared bathroom was an inconvinience but certainly not a problem.

Review 11:The atmosphere of the hotel, our room and Williams itself! Very helpfull staff was great too.

Review 12:We stayed in asian room, the bed was too soft and squeaking.Walls to neigbours bathroom were very thin

Review 13:Room design is amazing, the owner has taste and imagination. Very friendly staff.coffee and tea ready in the morning. Lovely historic building in a great town. All this make it worth visiting, a change to boring motels

Review 14:Overall, our stay was great except there was someone's else hair all over one of the pillows.

Review 15:We enjoyed the feel of staying in an authentic 19th century hotel. We also like the friendliness of the hotel staff and location on Route 66/ Historic Downtown Williams, AZ.

Review 16:It was $100 and it was worth maybe $45. The hotel was so old and out of date. Extremely over priced for its value.

Review 17:I liked how it was on the strip of Route 66. It was surrounded by cool shops and restaurants.

Review 18:Keys did not work several days. Had to rekey the cards twice.

Review 19:Great hotel, friendly staff. Good room. Comfortable beds. Great pillows. Great location. Next to shuttle bus to Grand Canyon.

Review 20:My twin bed was very hard. Others in our group had rooms with comfy beds in larger sizes. I rated breakfast low because there was not a breakfast. Coffee was good and free.

Review 21:This hotel is great for location and wonderful staff. Very unique place and clean!

Review 22:Single beds were not comfortable, but that could be because I am accustomed to doubles.

Review 23:Felt very welcome here. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist us. The location is excellent: right in the centre of town and only a 5 minute walk to the Grand Canyon railway station. Loved the retro-western fittings.

Review 24:Bed creaked, fan in bathroom made horrendous noise, bare floor boards bit grubby, could hear the people next door. In a modern place I'd reflect this in the score, but as the place is so old you need to forgive these things, see beyond and love it for what it is. Fab night so glad we chose it.

Review 25:Loved that all vacant rooms had the door open so we could see in and take photos, each has a different theme. Fab location, Williams is a wonderful old town. So much to look at in the hotel and around town, much nicer to stay here than the purpose built all new village at the grand canyon. No breakfast at the hotel, so we ate at Smokey Joe's a few doors up.

Review 26:The beds were quite small

Review 27:Very homely hotel, feels like your visiting your grandparents home! Owners are very friendly and accommodating. Very nice little town to visit on the old Route 66

Review 28:The noise from adjacent rooms and hallway. No blackout curtains.

Review 29:Loved the style and charm of the old building and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Location was right beside some nice cafes and gift shops in Williams too.

Review 30:The room was very small and there was no natural light, which was off putting. There was a lot of ornaments and 'bits and pieces' in the room which given the size of the room would have been better removed to give more space.

Review 31:Staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. The hotel was on the main street and very convenient for everything. Parking available at the back of the hotel was very convenient.

Review 32:It's close to the main street and the street noise can be heard, depending on the room.

Review 33:Nice location, everything is within walking distance. Friendly staff, cool rooms.

Review 34:The noise of the air conditioning inside the room was so disturbing we could not sleep during the night. The personnel kindly tried to solve but when they saw they could do nothing, they left us in the noisy room saying "sorry but i cant do more". The room they gave us was unconfortable and old. It was a bad choice for us.

Review 35:The location was excelent. It was clean too.

Review 36:Our room didn't have a window and I noticed quite a few didn't. Did mean our room was a bit clostrophobic.

Review 37:Hotel decoration is very out of the ordinary. You either like it or you don't. I did but my other half didn't. Staff very friendly.

Review 38:I got no sleep!!! The b&b is on a busy road with really thin windowsand there's a busy bar accross the road that was open until 2am withpeople trying to sing. You can hear everything in the rooms next to youas there are extra doors into the other rooms. I heard a couple havingsex for 2 hours on one side and a woman snoring on the other side.Earlier in the evening someone opened a can and I could hear it!!Motorbikes zoom along the road all night. Bed tiny. Floorboards creak.Old. Dusty. No ac. No sleep. Very tired day in Tbe Grand Canyon the nextday. Owners clearly not customer service trained !

Review 39:Williams is quite a fun little cowboy town and it's only an hour tothe grand canyon but I didn't like anything about the actual grandcanyon hotel ......................

Review 40:Too many stairs, but that's life

Review 41:We have a young friend visiting from Germany and we wanted him to experience something other than cookie cutter motel. This was the place

Review 42:Amy and her staff were wonderfully pleasant and very helpful with suggestions of where to eat and things to do. The hotel is very old with a lot of charm. You can feel the energy of the people who have stayed there - the Vanderbilts, The King of Siam, John Muir, people from all over the world. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a little feel of the old west right on Route 66 and it's only 45 minutes from the canyon.

Review 43:Charming building and I loved the old style accomodations. Note that the front desk is not open all day! but they did stay up until we arrived -- which was an amazing personal touch. Was in easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. About 1 hour from Grand Canyon.

Review 44:The history of the place, the cleanliness and the comfort. I highly recommend this place. As a matter of fact I will be back next year. The staff was wonderful and knowledge able too.

Review 45:We had a pretty serious misunderstanding with the front desk staff. I had booked the room for 2 nights but decided to stay only one after spending the first night there. I asked the front desk if I could check out a day early. She said yes. I told her I would let her know when we were leaving the room. I booked a room in another town for the next night. After we had moved out of the room, I went back to the front desk to tell her we were checking out. I asked for a receipt acknowledging a refund of our second night. At that point, she went and got the manager who informed me that we could check out but we would not get a refund for the second night. Apparently we had a misunderstanding about the meaning of "checking out".

Review 46:"old - style" interiors of this renovated hotel from XVIII centrury have a unique charm (every one is different). Williams is the town located on the old Route 66 and all the surrounding of the hotel is now stylised to the old cowboys and saloons city. We had great time there!

Review 47:Absolutely nothing.

Review 48:Fantastic location in Williams and perfect for visiting the Grand Canyon. Allowed us our pick of the available rooms and they all looked fantastic - decorated in their own individual style. All in: comfortable, friendly and excellent value.

Review 49:TV didn't work. No sofa or comfy chairs in our queen suite. Checkouttime of 10am too early, even 11 would be better but necessary to make ready for next guests.

Review 50:so reminiscent of days gone by. Each room totally different. The lobby really transports you back in time, as do the rooms. Owner May was wonderful!

Review 51:I didn't check the whole rules or restrictions for to rent a room, I always book my self on room with two beds thinking about my kids going with me, and this time I took my two kids, and I never thought about this place has restrictions about how many people can stay on the room, I was rejected the day when I supposed stay, and coming from 10 hour driving distance, with two teenagers, it was very disappointed, so I was very worry where to spend the nigh and to provided safety place for my kid.

Review 52:The rug in the room was dirty, the bathroom was to small, the wash basin is in the main bedroom, the shower was way to small, The back door was not very secure and the lock to the room was not very secure.

Review 53:very close to the down town and near restaurants and activities.

Review 54:123 year old Hotel in the exact center of Williams. About 2 blocks from Grand Canyon Railway depot. Gives you the feeling of traveling Route 66 or the rail lines 50-100 years ago

Review 55:Little mold in shower.

Review 56:Everything was wonderful!! Except in the bathroom there was a littlemold I noticed. But it was minimum. Other than that.... Accommodationswere great. Staff excellent☺

Review 57:The only thing that made the visit challenging was lugging our luggage up a lot of stairs! If we ever stay again we will be sure to pack lighter!

Review 58:The owners went out of their way to make our visit a good one and to assist us in any way needed. The hotel is truly charming!

Review 59:Everything was lovely! The room was nicely decorated. The hotel is historic and Amy was absolutely so kind and acclimating. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Review 60:Nothing!

Review 61:The greeting we received was so warm, that I felt like I was visiting family. The rooms were fairly priced, clean and full of history. What a unique experience!

Review 62:shower was out of the room and had no conditioner for the hair

Review 63:The manners of the entire staff. The look of the motif. The ease of getting checked in. the refrigerator to keep our food in. Thee location to the parade and entire small town

Review 64:From the great location right on Route 66 to the accommodating staff (who stayed an hour later than normal to check us in because we were a late arrival) and the charming rooms, this hotel is like a living antique full of culture and a family like atmosphere.

Review 65:Is pretty unique little hotel in a small town but very cosy and friendly place and staff, good to meet people... Totally loved it!!!

Review 66:Bathroom was little small.

Review 67:Location is great. Hotel manager was excellent. She was very helpful.Historic hotel and town.

Review 77:The floor was dirty and stickey no carpets or rugs. No tv and the hall was so noisy. You could hear everything

Review 78:It was quaint and the help was great !

Review 91:Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. This is a beautiful older hotel. The restaurant next door was excellent!

Review 92:Great location, cosy and very nice staff
