Reviews for Royal Atlantic Beach Resort
Review 1:Saturday evening got rather loud with rowdy guests yelling across the hotel from one room to another until midnight. Then it settled down. After being rather quiet all week, this was a little unsettling. However, I didn't really care as I didn't have to wake up at any time the next morning.
Review 2:Beautiful view. VERY clean room. Quiet and comfortable.
Review 3:Stayed in Room 94. Second floor room/suite with two beds and an unobstructed view of the ocean. Well worth the $150 a night rate. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Lots of pillows provided. Everything worked properly. There was a nice sized flat screen TV on the wall, stove, microwave, coffee pot, silverware, dishes. Everything you would need to cook a meal in. The balcony was nice sized and private. Would stay again.
Review 4:Beware of rooms listed with Bookings.com and the hotel that state "ocean view". Some only have a "partial view" at best. You might not get what you expect!!
Review 5:The location on the beach.
Review 6:Hotel staff was not friendly, did not tell us how to get to our room so we got lost. Room felt very damp and musty. Not very clean at all.
Review 7:The location is perfect.
Review 8:The best part of staying at the Royal Atlantic was the location, right on the beach. The little kitchenette in the room was modern and clean. They provided pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses and silverware. There was a table to eat at and sliding glass doors with seats and a view of the water. The room was clean. The cost was great for what you got.
Review 9:The staff handed me a key, pointed the way, and took the key back at the end of the trip. Not friendly at all! I know its off season, but be greatful for our business!
Review 10:The location right on the beach for the price was great!!!
Review 11:Told the staff on the first day that our phone didn't work nor did the outlets in our bathroom - neither were looked at or fixed.
Review 12:The location was great - walking distance to everything.
Review 13:Hotel exterior definitely needs work. Very tacky. Rusted room size air conditioner. I would question the efficiency during July or August. No hair dryer, tissues or safe in room. No coffee provided. Only a pot is there; you have to bring your own coffee, sugar, cream.
Review 14:Hotel Location is excellent. Price in October was reasonable. I would not recommend any rooms except ocean front. Without ocean view there would be no reason to stay here.
Review 15:Quiet place management nice, cleaning lady very courteous...not bad value for money this time of year.. Beach view was nice and rooms were clean and conveniently located near center of town
Review 16:The only complaint is getting ice.royal
Review 17:Loved the rom right on the water. The waves breaking on the beach were Beautiful. Can,t wait until we can be there again.
Review 18:The person who checked me in on Friday did not even look me in the eye, did not tell me where breakfast was located, did not give me the WiFi password, or hours of the pool. I'm not looking for much, but a little info would have been nice. The phone in the room to call the front desk with questions didn't work so I had to go through the switchboard every time I called with my cell phone.
Review 19:The location was fabulous, the breakfast that came with the room was good as was the service in the restaurant. The room was very comfortable and probably bigger than my apartment.
Review 20:The room we booked wasn't actually oceanfront...it was pool-front and then ocean in the distance. The staff entered our room without notifying us and moved luggage, clothes, etc. Severe invasion of privacy! On-site Management was not helpful in resolving the situation.....if a pool front room is the same as an oceanfront room then why did we have to move???
Review 21:Actual oceanfront room is amazing. We booked an oceanfront room and got a room in front of the pool. Fortunately, our room that we were originally supposed to have was dirty and we were able to get an ocean front room for 3 of 4 days.
Review 22:The room was a little musty when we arrived, but other than that, everything was perfect.
Review 23:The location, room, and breakfast were advantages that I would share with all my friends and relatives
Review 24:The breakfast was overpriced for extras and the wifi was really slow.
Review 25:the location, the pool, the staff, the overall facility- the best location in montauk. We love it here!
Review 26:It was peak season, so our room was very, very expensive and it had several malfunctions - bathroom door handle was falling off and had to be fixed, air conditioner did not work at first (but they replaced immediately!), the toilet clogged twice and the water was shut off for a few hours while they fixed a pipe problem. No reduction was offered at all for the inconvenience. They did fix things very quickly, but again, for the money, I would have expected better or at least some compensation for having to come to the office 4 times to get help.
Review 27:You can't beat staying by the beach with a pool. And it's a two block walk to town, so you never have to drive anywhere during your stay if you don't want to. I have 3 grown children (15-20 years), so they could come and go as they wanted - it was a great location for them especially.
Review 28:Loud, partying, apparently intoxicated people around the facility for hours after midnight, with some folks even swimming in the (closed) pool beneath our room. So, where was the house security for those hours? Indeed, where were the police? A heavy hand of basic "law and order" seemed necessary. Not much value at $500 per night! But to be fair: maybe our experience was unusual; and the place was packed by families with children seemingly having a really good time. Also, Montauk has been a special place for our family events, and we will continue to go there, but ....
Review 29:Montauk! And, proximity to beach and shopping.
Review 30:Everything was run down. Light bulbs missing. Old appliances. Broken patio door lock. Hard bed. Uncomfortable sleeper sofa unless you like the feeling of springs. The list goes on....maybe all the places are like this but with a nightly weekday stay with taxes that exceeds $500 I'd just expect a lot more. I wouldn't recommend this place nor would I return here. I'd spend more with hopes to get cleaner and more updated room and amenities.
Review 31:Room was spacious with separate living room w/pull out sofa, full kitchen and queen bedroom
Review 32:Way too expensive for a family vaca. We've spent many happy summers here in the past with family. Now can barely afford 4 days. Cost more than a trip to Key West (with airfare)
Review 33:The location is the best of everything Montauk. The service staff were great! Waitress, Maids, Bartenders, Grounds Keepers. Nice, friendly, helpful.
Review 34:TERRIBLE Wifi could use a little update
Review 35:The location and the ease of town and the staff very nice Loved that my sons could come and enjoy the beach with us and no hassle after work every day -
Review 36:The "ocean view" was actually a parking lot view and when wecomplained, they said it was Booking.com's fault. The floor was sofilthy that after our 9 month-old crawled across it while we unpacked, her hands, legs, and feet were covered in dirt. There was feces at thebottom of the pool and we unknowingly swam in it. My husbandunfortunately stepped in it! The staff didn't completely clean it upuntil we complained several times over the next 24 hours. Theydidn't enforce the swim diaper rule so it happened again two moretimes while we were there. My family and I all had diarrhea while thereand since our return home, my 7 year-old has had a fever and vomiting. The a/cs leaked constantly and the rugs around were wet and smelledlike mildew. The manager was incredibly rude, unapologetic, andapathetic. She said the situation was already taken care of anddidn't know why I was complaining. When I asked why she neverreturned my messages, she first said she was on vacation. When I toldher I knew she was lying, she said was there, but she never got any ofmy messages. She was unaware and unconcerned that the problems persistedand that my family was sick as a result. When I told her she left me nochoice but to inform the public of how mismanaged and hazardous herhotel was, she said, "Thank you. Have a good day!' And walkedaway. I would never stay at that hotel again and I would not recommendit to anyone. There are plenty of quality places in Montauk, but this isnot one of them!
Review 37:Handicap parking but not handicap accessible.called ambulance could not walk.hurt rt knee.had to be carried up stairs from pool area and then down pool area.no one came to see what was going on.clueless as if this is a normal everyday occurence
Review 38:No dial tone on phone to front desk to report late night noise. Wi-fi connected but did not send or receive messages.
Review 39:The location was excellent. The room was very clean. The pool staff, especially the life guard, was very attentive.
Review 40:Front office staff not very friendly,I travel on business and this is very important. When on vacation even more crucial for your stay
Review 41:Everything, first time back in four years. Still a great place to stay
Review 42:TV went out and took more than a day to recover.
Review 43:Have stayed here many times and always enjoy the room off the beach. Breakfast was good and we liked that you could take it outside to eat.
Review 44:Could hear conversation of room next door.
Review 45:Usually stay in condos, but this time was all booked so stayed in ocean front room. Love waking to the View of the ocean. Still love the condo over the room. Much more privacy. Condos feel like home.
Review 46:I should've booked directly as rate in brochure was cheaper than Internet site I booked through.
Review 47:Nice clean room. Resort is quiet and right on the ocean. There are charcoal grills available if you want to BBQ.
Review 48:Had to wait for the front-desk girl to finish a cigarette before she helped us check in. Breakfast hostess barely greeted us while telling someone about a party she was going to. Paper-thin walls and a frat-boy party going next door til 6am on a Tuesday. The whole point of this trip with my sister (who has cancer) was to relax. We ended up leaving early. Just a bad experience all around.
Review 49:The beach-front room, proximity to downtown shops, clean room.
Review 50:We were given a poolside room. The beach bar and grill played a pounding cabana type of music from 10-5 every day. Could not hear ocean, tv, or yourself think. At night the corner bar woke us up at 1 am, very loud crowd. Big black ants in room, no fan in bathroom.
Review 51:Being so close to the ocean. Room service, good food.
Review 52:TV did not work ... Had to call front desk 2x and go to front desk in person before I was able to get it even addressed ...was over 3 hours... Asked that the manager on call named Cheryl call the room as well and I never even got a call from her. Also... Tried to call the main phone number prior to our arrival and I was on hold for over 20 minutes the 3 times I called and never even spoke to a human.
Review 53:We loved the location of being Oceanfront!
Review 54:No bathrooms near the pool. Have to walk all he way to your room. Too hard with kids. Small oceanview rooms-although updated by Montauk standards
Review 55:Pool was heated Great location Excellent breakfast Pool bar and grill
Review 56:Wish had offered a small pot of coffe on breakfast menu. We Had beach patrol grill me about fire on beach. I was unaware of the need for a 5 gallon bucket.made us put it out. (Even though we were doing everything right except having bucket ) Not hotels fault but maybe give out a flyer with rules especially new one. And offer the bucket.
Review 57:went to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. It was very enjoyable. Room clean and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved getting room service for breakfast.
Review 58:North side is not as nice and is very noisy at night. I thought my reservation was on south side. Pull out bed is like sleeping on a bed of nails. Manager was rude in restaurant at breakfast.
Review 59:Location near town. Free breakfast.
Review 60:Atlantic North was horrible. I will never ever stay in that section again. Air condition was broke, porch light broke a lamp was plugged in with no light bulb-dangerous. The kitchen sink made LOUD gurgling noises all night. Screen door was not on track. Shower door was loud n hard to open. No weather channel on TV.
Review 61:Location,breakfast, main pool
Review 62:Being on the second floor we had to carry all luggage up two flights of steps
Review 63:I loved the ocean view and proximity of hotel to ocean and village. I could walk to everything. There was a mix of guests ages which was good. The room was nicely decorated. Very relaxing
Review 64:Walls were very thin. Vent/window in bathroom. Not very much parking.
Review 65:Location was the best part. We had an oceanfront room on the second floor. Great view of the ocean and walking distance to shops.
Review 66:Noisy with party goers
Review 67:Hair left in the bathroom from guest before the sheets didn't smell lbleached or towels nosiy guest everywhere till all hours of the night
Review 68:The suites in the North complex were a bit old dingy. I have stayed in nicer rooms in the other complex of the Royal Atlantic. For this trip I traveled with my husband and 18 moth old. I would not recommend for couples with older children - too small.
Review 69:The location and walking distance to both the beach and the town is great.
Review 70:I did not have wifi service in the room. This was a big deal for me as I was studying for an exam and couldn't use the preparation software.
Review 71:Loved the oceanfront room - very clean and comfy and the location is great - right in town - walk to all shops and restaurants. It's a quick cab ride to the other side of town - docks, etc. The room was much cleaner than other places I've stayed in Montauk.
Review 72:They advertise two outdoor heated pools - but we went the weekend before Memorial Day and neither pool had been heated...so we were unable to use them. I think they should have been up front about the pools only being heated during high season.
Review 73:My husband and I traveled with our two young children (2 and 4) - and we absolutely loved this place! The location is great - right on the beach and right in town - so we didn't have to move the car if we didn't want to - the stroller was enough. Including a full breakfast in the cost was awesome - and helped us manage the cost of the trip.
Review 74:the room had a strange (stale?) smell that needed getting used to. The reception refused to put us in an oceanfront room, even though there were only 2 or 3 rooms occupied in the whole hotel.
Review 75:It was open :-) (we visited end April 2015, off season), staff was polite, location excellent, room big enough
Review 76:Need to change bed linens and pillows.and bedspread.makes everything look old and tired, like the shag rugs at gurney s.
Review 77:View and proximity to ocean.also, easy walking distance to town and bake shop.
Review 78:The free breakfast was not included during off season, the rooms need to be updated, starting to feel like a dirty 80's motel
Review 79:I like the kitchen and the location, staff friendly, beautiful views from the rooms
Review 80:Walls are thin, you hear the neighbors on all sides..hope for your sake they aren't the drunken, rowdy kind!
Review 81:Great location and close walk to town. Don't need to drive to get food or supplies.
Review 82:The bathroom is very small, but it wasn't a problem.
Review 83:We had a private balcony just feet from the ocean with an amazing view. The hotel is truly in the heart of Montauk, so, we were able to walk to restaurants, shops & bars.
Review 84:The wireless was very unstable. Most times I did not have any connection. The studio unit was small and the bathroom very cramped but the other units are roomier. I asked for an upstairs unit with ocean front, which they gave me but unfortunately since I was there in the winter the heater unit was too small for the room and it never was particularly warm. This wouldn't be a problem during the summer.
Review 85:The location was very good. Walking distance to everything in Montauk.
Review 86:Staff, did not even look up when walked in, did not even point out game room, which was a joke anyway. Did not point out maps which would have helped. Are they losing their jobs soon? Use a robot next time. Tried together info on coming back, still could not be bothered. Some small and easy improvements are needed, paint on wood work, windows, outside carpet area needs replacing
Review 87:The location was beautiful, porch and sun area right outside room. Ocean front, was just what we wanted! Room was nice, bed comfortable, wish they had king, kitchen and kitchen ware very good. Bathroom good water pressure, so that made it good.
Review 88:We couldn't squeeze in more time to stay.
Review 89:Everything about The Royal Atlantic Beach Resort. We had a TV in the bedroom and livingroom, plus a full kitchen and a nice bathroom. Dining and amusement is only a short drive or walk away. We'll be back!
Review 90:The room was falling apart. It had an Oder that we just couldn't fix. The door moved whenever the wind blew, waking us up everytime.
Review 91:Liked that it was cheap.
Review 92:No hair dryer in my room. Couldn't adjust the heat. It was toasty warm which was good for the season, but I had to open a window to cool it off. No view with the pool empty for the off-season. In-season, the pool would be easy access, so no biggie.
Review 93:I loved the location. I could walk where I wanted to go - including the beach. I stayed in a single room but also spent time in one of the townhouses that was right on the ocean with a fireplace and felt like a mountain lodge - cozy, warm and spacious. My single room was modest but fully set up with a kitchen and livingroom/dining room combo too. More than I expected.
Review 94:Didn't like that the restaurant and bar were not open. Plenty of people in the hotel throughout the weekend so it would have been nice for a place to gather but it didn't hold us back from enjoying the stay.
Review 95:Very clean room and friendly staff. The view on the second floor balcony can't be beat. Needed heat and that worked fine.had plenty of room for 3 adults and our grandson.
Review 96:We booked an ocean view room when we got there we were put into a room that had a view of the pool area and all the way to the left was the ocean thing we're not working properly in the room also. When we complained about the view and the room we were told that's what we booked. They then moved us further away from the ocean view to the view of the wall. We then offered to pay extra to get the room with the amazing view and were told NO. After making a huge sting and having a lot of agrivation we finally go the room we thought we booked originally. The woman at the fest was very unfriendly, not accommodating and nasty
Review 97:The view from our 3rd room was amazing and it was nice to be right in town
Review 98:The room was clean, well decorated and very comfortable. The ocean view from our balcony was amazing. A great value and a very nice staff of people. Will visit again.....
Review 99:My wife and I have been celebrating our anniversary in Montauk for the past 22 years. We have stayed at many resorts but never The Royal Atlantic. We had better value there. We shall return. Everything went smooth from booking to checkout.
Review 100:We went in november and we needed to call front desk and since it was off season there was no one that could help us....
Review 101:I love the location, oceanfront and 1 block from restaurants and shops.
Review 102:That they couldn't find our reservation from Booking.com at first. And this was after we had driven 2 hours from western LI! At last minute, we requested a room with a full view of the beach, but they were all booked up. But our partial-side view was lovely anyway. Would loved the price to have been a little more reasonab le so maybe we could have stayed another day. And it would have been nice if the restaurant was open, though they did provide our basket of muffins breakfast delivered at an extra charge.
Review 103:Though they couldn't find our booking.com reservation at first, they finally did and we were luckily able to get the room we had requested. It was a double queen with a terrace with a view of the beach. We watched the orange sunset on the waves from the terrace. We had requested breakfast in bed for our anniversary and since their restaurant is closed for the season, they offered an alternative for an extra $10.00--a hand-delivered basket of muffins with a pot of hot coffee-and a newspaper, which was delightful. Everyone who worked there was very warm and welcoming. Wished we could have stayed longer. Would love to return as long as it remains affordable. Don't know if I'd use Booking.com again because of my experience-didn't match the feeling I got from the TV commercials.
Review 104:staff obstructed view of ocean (room 22) slippery bathtub - be careful! couldn't adjust heat as remote for heater wasn't the correct one
Review 105:location no evidence bedbugs in our room plenty of pillows small kitchen plenty of drawers
Review 106:Like other reviewers, paid for ocean view and received "partial" view as it was "sold out." Clearly, the hotel was not sold out when we stayed. A little customer service could really have turned around a negative review.
Review 107:Proximity to ocean
Review 108:We have stayed here about 3 times a year for the last 3 years (in early June, August, and mid October) complementary breakfast is always given. Our last stay Mid October after calling the restraunt and not getting a answer I called the front desk to find out that it is closed for the season :( the price for the room was the same we were even charged a extra $55 when we arrived because we were not put in a oceanfront room and then I had to spend a addition $70.00 in breakfast for the next 2 day at a local pancake house although delishous it was a unforeseen expense.
Review 109:We always love the view at the Royal atlantic and the location is perfect! It's awesome that you can have a fire on the beach at night and just relax!
Review 110:Because we went in the off season, very few things are open, including the onsite restaurants. And the beds we VERY uncomfortable - my husband and I woke up each day with a backache.
Review 111:EXCELLENT location. We had an oceanfront first floor room and the sliding glass door opened up right onto the beach. HEAVEN!!!! Full kitchen set up, which is helpful if traveling with a family. And the location is a very short walk to the center of the village.
Review 112:Not very clean.. Our beds were kinda gross.. There was hair and such all over the sheets when we checked in.. We asked for a service of our beds and an hour later someone brought us two sheets.
Review 113:Close to beach and town. It's really nice to be walking distance to main street.
Review 114:The place was very "tired" and could do with a massive upgrade. It is not like they don't have the funds for it. I The prices are exorbitant and I doubt they pay their staff very much above the minimum wage. There cannot possibly be a mortgage on it as it has been family owned for close to 4 decades. I worked there in the mid 80s and there have been very few improvements or refurbishments since then. A great shame as it is a spectacular location in an amazing little town.
Review 115:View & location
Review 116:I would have given Quality of Sleep an excellent but the people in the next room were so loud. Otherwise finally falling asleep and waking in the morning to the sound of the ocean made overlook my rude neighbors.
Review 117:Loved the location, just steps from the beach. The bed was comfortable and we loved the private balcony. Breakfast was included and freshly made, no microwaved pancakes here.
Review 118:The pull-out sofa could have been more comfortable.
Review 119:The free breakfast coupons were an excellent touch, and it was particularly nice that breakfast lasted until noon.
Review 120:The price. I know it's Montauk in season, but come on...it's Montauk, not the Bahamas. Also, spotty internet. Don't count on it if you need it for work.
Review 121:Stayed at the Royal Atlantic North, across the street from the beach. I liked this better. Smaller pool, but much quieter. Room very clean, mattresses surprisingly comfortable. Staff quickly replaced a broken air conditioner, and found us a can opener (albeit bad one)
Review 122:location in north building was sub standard would not accept a room at that location again. Toilet tank leaked and filled every 10 minutes. Sloppy Tuna crowd woke me up every night.
Review 123:Was off season. Before holidays. Just to get away with Mrs. I could see this place at height of summer. Great location.
Review 124:Wish we could stay longer
Review 125:Montauk what more could you want! Ocean front town house clean and comfortable.
Review 126:The check in staff was obnoxious and seemed annoyed to have to work
Review 127:The view was wonderful
Review 128:The woman was very nasty during checkout
Review 129:Great room and location
Review 130:Great value! Perfect location.
Review 131:The room was very dirty and cold.
Review 132:The location was great.
Review 133:the closeness to the beach bright room facing the beach
Review 134:Hotel is right on the beach, that's a big plus for me. Quick walk into town too. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 135:Outdated rooms, poor wifi signal, noisy rooms
Review 136:Excellent location, big rooms, very close to restaurants and bars.
Review 137:The location -- on the ocean and close to the town, the comfort of the room, the little kitchen and the cleanliness.
