Review 1：I couldn't even sleep there for one night, the room was so disgusting. Also the pool is open to the public and there is no parking near the hotel.

Review 2：I did not appreciate the management of the cruise boat. We were booked on a 11:30am cruise only to be told when we got there that they over booked and we cannot go on the cruise. Then we booked for 9am the next day only to be told the next day that the cruise was cancelled due to not enough people making a booking.

Review 4：The Sunday night buffet was an outright disappointment. At the price that was charged the dishes were minimal and the roast chicken that was served was not cooked through. The bathroom could do with a make over although it was very clean.

Review 7：The allocation of guests are good and the handling of guests in an equal manner is appreciated.

Review 8：When I asked at Reception if breakfast was included in our deal (which it was), a member of the staff told me it cost R105 - we therefore missed out on four 'free' breakfasts out of six we'd paid for (we had one, and one was offered by Nadia after our stay as compensation). Also the units have signs of shabbiness - cracks in the painting on panels and broken tiles on the steps. Our toilet was leaking when we arrived (after a 3-hour wait for our rooms to be prepared) and it took 3 days for it to be properly repaired.

Review 9：The sheer Monte Carlo- like sense of luxurious comfort one gained from overlooking the Marina and the river, either from our rooms, the bar lounge or the pool deck. Also the proximity to the beach and the magnificent Kowie River .

Review 10：The rooms were in very ,very poor condition, ragged and threadbare carpets,and furnishings that were torn and threadbare. The first room we were shown had an out of service air conditioner- the staff were prepared to allow a guest to stay in a room where they KNEW the facilities in the room were not working. 3. Chipped paint on skirtings, peeling Chipped paint on the walls and cupboards , one cupboard door was actually off its hinge. The coating on the side tables was also peeling off. Rusted stove tops. Microwave oven crusted with dirt inside. Cracked and chipped tiles in the bathroom. Mildew in the shower. The hand shower in the one bathroom had a leak and could not be used without flooding the bathroom. I'm shocked that the hotel would allow rooms like this to be occupied by guests. The staff were polite but very ,very slow. We were visiting family over the Christmas period and unfortunately had no alternative place to stay, or we would have walked out immediately.

Review 18：We arrived at the Halyards on Christmas night. Despite having proof of our booking via booking.com and having called the hotel (after receiving an email from them) to confirm our credit card details, they had no record of our booking. They had some lame excuse that they are having problems with booking.com reservations. Simply unacceptable. They managed to find us a room at the MyPond hotel in their conference centre as Port Alfred is fully booked over the festive season. Our room at MyPond was also not wonderful as I assume it is 'emergency' accommodation for instances like this (it was away from the hotel and the bathroom smelled). I guess the Halyards score points for making sure we had a room for the night but it was still a very stressful experience after an exhausting day - and it was Christmas.

Review 19：The hotel is old and so is run down. But in this day and age, there often isn't money to do things up -it was maintained and clean. Carpets need replacing, white towels need replacing. Very loud neighbours when we stayed there.

We were in26 and it sounded as though the party was going on in room 27 Right upto 3 am. Breakfast was a didaster as we had to que behind people takingenough food to feed an entire family each. At no time were told aboutthe hotel being booked out for this noisy function. The guests returnedfrom a booze cruise and were incredibly loud even at 5pm.The parking lotwas like a party venue all night.NEVER Again!!!

Review 44：The hotel in itself needs an uplift in decor etc but was very pleasant

Review 45：Paid extra for room as I was told I would have a lounge area. All the rooms had a lounge area so this was untrue. My room had a sleeper couch. Apparently this is what I paid extra for even though I neither wanted nor needed it. In fact the other rooms had bar fridges which mine did not, so I actually paid more for less.

FIRST EVENING DINNER: Excellent cuts of meat were completely ruined by the chef: Totally over cooked, bone dry and on top of it all, sliced "with", instead of "against" the grain, the way meat should be sliced.. SECOND EVENING: We left our dinner table due to ± 20 uncontrolled toddlers creeping and shouting. Staff reacted as if they enjoyed the noise and disturbances. We noticed 4 other couples also leaving the dining room.

The hotel looks like it hasn't been maintained since the 90s. We had to ask for towels, a duvet and wifi as there was nothing provided. The wifi still didn't work
