Review 1：Room had light mildew smell but room was newly furnished and clean. I brought a plug in freshener because it's common for rooms to have a smell.

The buildinf is an older motel, so you can't compare it to modern chain hotels. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff and management were friendly and nice. Review 11：1 The hotel is a little run down, 2 The room was not made up when we got back Sat. night after being out all day, had to call for clean towels. 3 4th fl room with small piece of ocean view over & between 2 buildings if you opened the room door. don't think other rooms had that much.

Review 15：This "charming" little motel features a staff of one, who is insistent on preventing people from having fun. I requested a non-smoking room, but it smelled like the inside of my grandpa's Buick. The floors haven't seen a mop in years, and be sure to bring your own sheets. But with all of that said, the place grows on you!
Review 16：Tile floors were sticky. Cleaners never serviced the kitchen. Cleaners never sweeped floors or moped. My wife and I woke up with a feeling sticky as if the sheets weren't cleaned properly. Cleaners never cleaned the showers just brought new towels and wash clothes. Very disappointed since we stayed 9 nights. Also the shower curtin was filthy.

Review 24：There were no carpets on the floor. The linens were not changed for the 2 nights we spent. No continental breakfast. Apart from the beds there were no other places to sit; there was no extra chair. There was also no suitable reading or study area in my room. Kitchenette should have been equipped with a few cutleries and pots.

Review 26：FIRST OFF: We are from Ohio. It's a 10 hour drive for us and we get there around 4ish and he tries to take my card before I could say we are paying in cash. Then gets mad before we told him we have cash. 2: Rooms were okay, we didn't haven't pots, pans, silverware even though we were in a room with a kitchen. 3: we were room 110, so it was the first kitchen suite on the first floor near the office, we got HARRASSED by homeless and drunks and I was scared and called the front desk and he didn't do Anything!! We almost left 2 days early! 4: I locked myself out and the manager was cranky and mad and got an attitude about how irresponsible we were 5: THEY HAVE BED BUGS !!!! IM COVERED IN BITES and since I asked for a return of money and they said no ! So I'm covered even though we slept in our car for the first 2 nights then he "magically"got a avaliable room (110) and I'm still covered in bites.

Review 50：I arrived at 2:00pm and the hotel office was locked. There were 6 otherpeople waiting for the office to open. The manager showed up at 4:00pm,was somewhat rude and very impatient. The managers office smelledterrible. The baseboards in the room were turning black, there were whatlooked like food stains on the floor and end tables. The floor wasdirty. There were blinds on the windows, but no curtains. The bed lookedas if it were as old as the hotel and sagged in the middle. The bedcover was worn and had holes in it. The bed sheet had what appeared tobe burn marks on them. The room was bad enough I lifted the bed mattressto inspect for bed bugs. I am retired military and I've stayed inold barracks that were in better shape.

Review 52：When booking through Booking.com, I was given the option of providing a time of arrival. I assumed this was for the purpose of checking in. When we arrived at 12pm as I stated when making the booking, we were informed that the room wouldn't be ready until 2:30. A mild inconvenience as I had just driven 5 hours, but I was content to get lunch and visit some shops while waiting. At 2:30 we returned to find the office locked and no staff other than the maintenance man who was unable to use the computer system. An hour and a half later, the owner rolls up. When I told him we had been waiting since 12, he replied that check-in was not until 4pm and ignored me when I inquired as to why we were asked when we wanted to check in and then given an apparently bogus time by his employee.
Review 53：The proximity to all of the shops and the boardwalk was nice. There's also a Walgreens on the opposite corner of the block so anything you forget you can just pickup there.

Review 67：The motel is very exposed to the Pacific Avenue street scene. My wife and I felt uncomfortable in the surroundings as we unloaded our belongings from the car. There is a bar adjacent to the motel which can cause you to lose some sleep if your room is closer to the street.

Review 70：I loved the location of this hotel. It was in the center of the beach. It was across the street for the area of the beach that has entertainment stage area set up. There is a Walgreen's directly in front of this hotel to pick up any necessities you need. The room was very clean; I smelled the Clorox when I walked in. But it wasn't overpowering. I really liked the up to date décor. There was a flat screen tv, microwave and mini fridge in the room. When heading to your room, you have the option of steps or an elevator. I also liked that this hotel had tile flooring instead of the usual carpet. The Wi-Fi was very fast too. I will definetly being staying here again.
Review 71：I upgraded to a kitchen room and was not told when I did this, in person, that the kitchen had no supplies. No pots/pans, plates, silverware, cups. Nothing. No toaster or coffee maker either. Since I had no idea that a room with a full kitchen was going to be bare, I had to go buy all the things necessary to cook! This was very frustrating! I've never stayed in a room with a kitchen that was not fully stocked with cooking supplies in my 25 years of vacationing. This is something that should be clearly stated on their website so that people know they need to bring kitchen supplies. When I brought this up to the owner, he said sorry and kept walking. The second day we were there they tossed some clean sheets on the bed and called it good. No sweeping up all the sand, which if they would just put a broom in the room I would happily do this myself, no cleaning or even making the beds. There was also no place to sit, no table or anything and it was a kitchen room. There was a large bar area that clearly was made for barstools but there were none. They also tried to over charge me when I checked in by 40$, luckily I was paying attention. And, the website advertises a free breakfast, this is a lie. They have coffee. The wifi barely works and they offer free netflix but it kept freezing. It's unlikely I will stay here again, which is a shame because it's a good value for the money and in a great location.
Review 72：This was my second stay at the Blue Marlin. My first time was ok. I love the closeness to the beach and the pool was warm. The rooms are updated and clean and I like the tile floors. We just had a basic room that had a small fridge that didn't work. Other than that the first stay was fine.
Review 73：Only two towels in the room. We asked for more (and used them with 2 adults two children in the room) and when housekeeping came through, they replaced with two towels. Repeat cycle.. Also, floors were very sandy from the get-go. Not much effort is placed in cleaning.

Review 79：They are not accommodating at all. Especially the woman who works the front. She simply doesn't care about her customers as long as she gets her money. She herself says she doesn't care what we think or if we will return. Also, bugs in the shower and the bed is very small and like plywood. Review 91：The air conditioner in our first room did not work and was not much better in the room that we were moved to. Neither room had any chairs. One room had a ceramic tile floor that was very slipper when wet. The TV's controls did not work but indeterminately. The staff spoke very poor english. The lock on the door would not open and the manager told me that one of my family members was in the room and walked off when all of us was standing right there with him. I had to argue with him to convince him the lock was broken. The pool was dirty. The sign by the pool that states the PH and etc. had a date of five days earlier.

Review 98：After driving 14 hours arrived to find the room filthy. The sheets, pillow cases and comforter were dirty with hair and what appeared to be vomit and other stains. The side of bed had what appeared to be vomit on it. One side of the toilet paper holder was broken off the wall leaving a hole. The toilet paper was shoved over the side still attached to the wall. Pubic hair was on the tub. The front of the toilet was dirty. The floor and walls were dirty. The door trim and and wall trim was dirty. Every time the air conditioning unit came on there was a strong smell of urine. When I complained to the manager they brought a cleaning person and changed the bedding and made minimal effort to clean the room. When they left the tub had not been cleaned and hair, dirt, etc was still present throughout the room. Hair was present on the 'clean' bedding. Did not stay the last night due to feeling unsafe.

When I got there there wasn't any parking it literally took my fiancé 15 minutes to find parking at 4am. The rooms looked nice but the floor and bathrooms were really dirty. Also the AC was only cooling one side of the room.

Review 104：From the time I checked in throughout the entire stay this experience was horrible. I booked my reservation ahead of time for a double room with double beds and received my comfirmation that my reservation was accepted. However when I hit to the Blue Marlin the owner tried to put me in a single room and said that is why I reserved even though I showed him my confirmation. He then said he did not have a dbl room avasble but after seeing my displeasure all of a sudden he had a room available but for an addl cost of $104. I also had an addl guest which I paid $30 addl for which I understood but it struck me that only cash would be accepted for the addl guest fee. The room was not clean, we had to ask for towels every day and toilet paper which they did not restock. There were burn holes in the comforters which I can see how that happened because I saw a maid making a bed in another room with a cigarette hanging from their mouth with a long ash hanging from it. These are non smoking rooms and the fact that their own maids were smoking in the room while changing the linens is disgusting, especially for the guests in that room..nothing like coming back to ashes in your bed. Lastly the owner did some really strange things like sitting in the corner of the office in the dark like he was spying on the guests. This is the last time I will stay at The Blue Marlin and also was highly dissatisfied with Booking.com customer service when I tried to get their assistance when I had problems upon my arrival at this motel. Review 105：I was very dissatisfied with my stay at The Blue Marlin. The only thing that I thought would have been a plus was the close proximity to the beach but the horrible experience at The Blue Marlin negates this plus.
Review 106：The only thing that we didn't like was the shower curtain in the bathroom. It had some mold on the bottom of it.
Review 107：The best thing about the hotel was the location. We were about a block away from the beach and the boardwalk. Even though we weren't able to park directly on the premises. The overflow parking was very close. The manager of the hotel was really friendly and he always greeted us with a smile. Also, the room was pretty clean and it had updated bathroom fixtures.
Review 108：To start our sheets where stained, baseboards were covered in dirt,holes in the wall, bath leaked, and over all just dirty. Also there wasno parking and I was confronted about parking in a space that had aroad cone in it for no apparent reason, but it was the last parkingspace available. Then when we woke up one morning there were cigaretteashes all over my car hood and as I started to clean them off the ownerof the hotel began to try and tell me not touch the ashes on my hoodbecause they were fine. I was not happy about my stay at all. It was awaist of money.

The cupboards in the kitchen still had food in it from the previous guests. After we cleaned the kitchen ourselves we felt better, but even after room service cleaned the next day the floor was still filthy. We ended up buying cleaning supplies and a broom and cleaned the room ourselves.

Review 129：The location is only one block from the beach and is at a public access. The size of our room was a nice surprise. The manager was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 130：It seemed that the room hasn´t been cleaned up for days, dirt stains on the towels and blankets, mould on the shower courtains, dusty floor, plug sockets partially broken. Don´t come here if you want a hotel that fits to the payment. Es sah so aus als wäre das Zimmer tagelang nicht sauber gemacht worden, Dreckflecken auf Handtüchern und Bettlaken,Schimmelpilz am Duschvorhang, dreckiger Fußboden und Steckdosen teilweise kaputt. Kommt nicht hier her wenn Ihr ein Hotel wollt das zur Bezahlung passt.

Review 132：The room was NOT clean , the balcony had 4 outdoor chairs to be shared by 10 rooms, the elevator smelled horrible so we used the stairs but I recommend not touching the railings! Bring your own bedding, sanatizing wipes, room freshner, if you plan on useing the micro wave ,plates, cups ,silverware ,paper towels and of course flip flops ,which you will want to keep on your feet at all times and you should be good to go! Oh yes and be prepared to understand absolutely nothing the staff says. ..

Review 137：We had 3 people staying in one room and we were told there was an additional fee for an extra person of $20 which we did not mind paying. When we tried to pay with card the man told us that was had to pay with cash only. So we brought back cash and he immediately put the money directly into his personal wallet. Also, there is no insulation for keeping noise out of your room and the hotel is in the middle of the night life.
