Reviews for Fairmont Newport Beach
Review 1:We loved how comfortable the bed was and was a great location to the coast. We had a vehicle and went on an adventure each day to a different beach. It was nice coming home after a long day to a very comfy room and good food when we were too lazy to go out.
Review 2:The staff was warm and welcoming. Property is maintained to the highest level. Location is excellent being across from John Wayne Airport - but noise is not an issue.
Review 3:No self parking, only valet service which is $30 a night. Some guests prefer to park their vehicles at their own convience.
Review 4:Excellent staff, attentive service. Definitely felt the warm hospitality!
Review 5:One of the beds smelled of urine, unfortunately, as if it had been in the mattress for awhile. (Room 221, closest to door.) We were too tired to say anything and wanted to get to bed. It was just my son and I. Truth be told, had my wife been with us, she would have complained.
Review 6:Nice accommodations; perfect location.
Review 7:No negatives whatsoever to report
Review 8:Staff enthusiasm/helpfulness to deliver optimum stay Spaciousness of room (and balcony!) BATHTUB! Front Desk help over phone Fab bed View Room Service Cheese selection!
Review 9:When they sent up breakfast they did not include the bill. It ended up being 96$ for bacon, ham, 2 sides of toast, a fruit plate, 2 apple juice and 2 orange juice and 2 eggs over easy. That was out of control. I should have asked for the bill to make sure we were not overcharged when I did not see. I trusted though that it was legit because the fairmont has always been above board. it but unfortunately they did not include one until the final bill for the room came up. Also the shampoo and conditioner were half used when we got into the room on check in day. My wife was not really happy about that.
Review 10:The night front desk guy was super nice.
Review 11:Finding the place. Here is the VERY large hotel with a "LITTLE TINY" sign. Drove by it 2 times......
Review 12:The staff was very nice. Room was clean and the right size.
Review 13:You must pay $30 for valet and there are no other options. I would have rather parked far away and walked than pay the fee. Also, room service took way longer than they told us it would.
Review 14:the giant bed was very comfy
Review 15:The only have valet parking which cost 15$ per day if your presdential club member which is too much.
Review 16:Great location and nice facility. The room is amazing
Review 17:Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Both of the coffee cups at our table had lipstick on them. When I pay over $50.00 for two breakfasts I would hope to have it served on clean dishes.
Review 18:The rooms were really nice as well as the pool area.
Review 19:There was no water in the room, refrigerator was empty, no ice available on at least 3 floors. Breakfast was not the best, I asked for toast and did not get it, overall very disappointing
Review 20:Mandatory over night valet parking fee of $30! Outrageous! Airconditioner extremely noisy. Went on and off all night... Kept us awake. We each woke up with sinus pain and dry sore throats. Musty smellthroughout hallways. Place looks dull and worn.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:Tuesday July 7th at the pool a young woman was serving people . Iasked for water and she pointed to the Arrowhead bottle and said"Its over there" and walked away. No drinking cups ! But theworst was none of the prices on the menu matched our bill. I broughtthis to her attention and she said I was the first person to bringthis up. Always between 2-3$ higher on our bill. I told the front deskand he said he would pass it on the kitchen chef. I was told it wasthe computer and she had no control really? It cost us $15.00 more forthe 2 days at the pool with all the 2 and 3 $ added up. Make sure thecomputer matches menu prices please. We spent at least $150.00 indrinks and food each day.
Review 23:We spent a lot of time at the pool. The Monday we were there a young manserved us. He was awesome. He brought us water on ice with straw washappy and helpful. Food our drinks were always served with a smile.
Review 24:The Gym was very good with modern machine equipment and a touch above other hotels I have stayed at. The breakfast also had an innovative menu for the health conscious.
Review 25:Wifi is a necessity these days. Shouldn't have to pay for it.
Review 26:Comfortable beds, nice pool area with jfire pit, fast car valet service, nice bathroom, great robes, coffee in room, very nicely decorated.
Review 27:Beds were old and so hard. Everytime my husband moved the springs creaked so loud it woke us both up. Not what you would expect from a Fairmont property
Review 28:The refrigerator made a loud clicking sound all night and the room smelled like Chinese five spice powder or curry and never went away.
Review 29:The hotel has a nice workout facility and spa.
Review 30:I arrived late and left early the next morning so I did not have much time To judge. I will say that everyone was very friendly and helpful - It was convenient- I will stay again
Review 31:We were a little disappointed in the $30 overnight parking fee.
Review 32:We loved the design, amenities, cleanliness, comfort and the extremely professional and friendly staff. We also had a great meal at the hotel restaurant Bambu.
Review 33:The valet got expensive when tipping every time I needed my vehicle, no acces to your car is very inconvenient at a beach city. There was a wedding the Friday night we stayed and the bass pounded until midnight heard in our beds on fourth floor. I ordered 2 drinks at pool I asked to pay cash but the rude pool girl said no I will just put it in your room as she turned and walked away. I found out the reason was so they could charge a $4.00 gratuity to my $16 tab. What a racquet.... Finally the website offered us free bike rental but that was not the case, you have to join a club when you are there.
Review 34:the price compared to surrounding hotels
Review 35:We got a "Junior Suite". It was a large room with on Arm Chair? Not quite my idea of a Suite. Bathroom is spacious; but had no Exhaust fans. Air conditioning was noisy. One of the few Hotels that still charge for WiFi, and a ridiculous amount for Parking - with no Self Parking Options!!
Review 36:Nice Balcony. Good view of the pool.
Review 37:I was forced to take my service dog out onto the patio after ordering food. As I understand the law, this is illegal. I had a horrible experience with a fat, drunk, depressed ex-marine.
Review 38:Room 124 was very dirty and was not a non-smoking room. I had myself transferred to another floor and got a much better and very clean room.
Review 39:Response time to my complaint was instant.
Review 40:I liked the the highly professional courteous staff. I had some odd requests that were accommodated. The valet was unlimited trips and $30 for overnight parking (it's normal and fairly priced) the valet driver himself was very nice and helpful. I believe his name is Johnny...he has red hair but the point is he is one amazing guy! He let us know of all the ins and out around the area (in our case the bar scenes.) There is a Walmart right now the street like 6 min away driving. My girlfriend is in love with Jamba Juice and the best part is there is a Jamba Juice right across the street from the hotel! What a small world. This is definitely one hotel I would come stay in again if I'm in the area.
Review 41:Did not appreciate the surprise $30 overnight valet fees which were not included in the fee when booking. Also, at least half of gym equipment not working, and no help available to explain.
Review 42:Very nice room and bath. Friendly staff.
Review 43:we were so happy with the hotel. It was my birthday. We got late checkout and loved the pool, Spa,. Fitness Center and best of all the staff was excellent
Review 44:A friend of mine chose to pay for one nights stay at the hotel..after the front desk authorized the charged through the proper protocol methods...the charge was disputed by his ex spouse a few days later...rather than the staff coming to me or the author of the charge..they contacted local law enforcement.
Review 45:Eventhough the Fairmont can appear to be rather intimidating ...the service is prompt and people friendly. THe 24 hour room service is a bonus and the Spa and pool on the 3rd floor is a big plus too!
Review 46:The second day we did not recieve any house cleaning services including new towels or sheets. This hotel precharged my card an extra $300 dollars and failed to tell me which was also not on the receipt. They charged me 3 days of valet overnight usage at $30 a day when we were only there 2 nights. After all this I was a little irratated and the staff took care of the valet charges and comp us an $80.00 breakfast even wrote an apologitic email in reference to the overcharge.
Review 47:I did appreciate the fact that the staff went out of there way to take care of us. The hotel is very nice and my wife and I enjoyed the unique cocktails from the bar.
Review 48:Went to the bar area for a drink & some food...not a waiter/waitress or bartender to be found.Even when someone from the front went to help us none was found.Really at these prices..charging for wifi?
Review 49:The beds are comfortable. Most of the staff are great.
Review 50:I didn't realize it was a valet only property. We got a good deal on the room but ended up having no choice but to pay $30 to have someone else park our car. If I had known this ahead of time I would have chosen another hotel. Also, for that price we should get free wifi in our room.
Review 51:Our bed was super comfortable, like sleeping on a big plush marshmallow. Towels were soft, robes were fun, fridge in the room was convenient.
Review 52:absolutely no parking near hotel, must pay $30 Valet Per night...even visitors or anyone coming for 1 minute or 1 hour! no way around it & takes over 20 minutes to get your car even when its not busy. The pull has a cold water dispenser which was left empty half the day Sunday, and it was busy at the pole! We requested twice, housekeeping was rude after the second request, they said they were too busy and it would be done tomorrow. Really you call this a four star with this type of service? No tells a poolside had to request as well, housekeeping took forever to bring those too! Sunday afternoon. I was a mess dirty towels, dirty plates left at cabanas that weren't being used. Also the walls are very thin, we were woken up at 3 in the morning by an alarm clock and after an hour called security to advise them. Instead they came knocking at our door telling us to keep it down when we were the one complaining! The mail security guard was very rude and threaten to 'evict' us if we didn't keep it down..yes, he actually use the word event! When trying to explain we called about the alarm clock, he didn't care to listen and said he would handle that as well, just ignorant person!I'm sunday we attempted to order poolside service, the room in use on the table however when we called they said the menu would not be honored, only room service prices were available with traffic on 3 different menu. Order pizza delivery and notified unlocking to carson to do not allow them directly to the room yes printer for not calling and pick you guys up and mommy 20 minutes before we finally went down myself to see with the rain. Very poor customer service! Never will be staying here again!
Review 53:Hardly anything....issues with everything....kids meals at poolside were good on Saturday however Sunday's menu have no kids choices!
Review 54:Pool area was closed for service and valet price is a bit steep at $30.00 per night.
Review 55:Close to Newport Beach, comfortable bed, large bathroom, overall nice room!
Review 56:The wifi was super slow on my phone and it didn't work on my boyfriends phone so we just used our phones data. I didn't like how they come like at 4am to give you the reciept and they slide it under your door. It woke me up I actually got really freaked out because it sounded like someone was trying to get inside the room. But other than that I loved it.
Review 57:I really liked our room. Service was good and they were nice. We got in the pool around 9pm because it's a heated pool which was a plus! The bed felt like a cloud I really loved it. Everything was nice and clean.
Review 58:temperature of shower -- water didn't get hot enough. water pressure was too low. they didn't give me more shampoo and conditioner or soap after cleaning.
Review 59:bed was good. room was large.
Review 60:Valet parking was a major inconvenience. Took 10 minutes to get my car when we checked out. Plus we were charged $30 per day to be inconvenienced. What a joke. Unit was noisy as we could hear our neighbours when they spoke. Paid internet was a pain. We didn't have to pay for internet when we stayed at the Westin! Plus we were charged twice on our bill because we had multiple devices.
Review 61:Good location.
Review 62:In room phones don't work Wifi isn't free Staff aren't service oriented Overnight parking is a rip off Rooms need a make over Pool is out of action for 6 weeks
Review 63:Location..
Review 64:Not really near a lot of restaurants and attractions, nothing really within walking distance. But pretty close to John Wayne airport. Must drive to get to the beach and major shopping malls. Wish they refilled their water dispenser more often, it's always empty. Or wish valet would offer water as you check in or return from a long day like most hotels.
Review 65:Nice and clean hotel. Hotel room had nice entrance with tile floor and fancy bathroom. Nice to have a coffee maker in the room with a good selection of their signature teas.
Review 66:Location, airplane noise, price -vs- quality, small bedrooms, $$$ for wifi in todays world see over the top and like a cheap hotel trying to make a buck wherever they can.
Review 67:Nice people, clean hotel.
Review 68:Staff weren't interested in customer experience. Concierge especially was totally unhelpful when we acquired about hiring a boat. If its a one night stay for work.. It'll do ok. But don't expect the usual four seasons quality at this property.
Review 69:Checkout was efficient
Review 70:Not any fault of the hotel but not as close to certain places. Did not like the forced Valet at $30.00 per night. Beds were very uncomfortable. Jacuzzi tiles were coming apart leaving grout on bottom and around the entrance.
Review 71:Loved the food in the restaurants. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Maid service was excellent, rooms and bathrooms very clean.
Review 72:Only 2 K-cups were provided. I would have like a second cup and $7.00 for a bottle of water????? Should have been free.
Review 73:Room was spacious, beds were comfortable and the bathroom had all the amenities.
Review 74:The only parking at the hotel is valet and it costs $30 a night. The room seemed like a good deal but I don't like that it didn't mention anything about the parking fee.
Review 75:The rooms are really clean and the beds are super comfortable.
Review 76:Parking is $30/day no choice, occupancy tax everyday you stay and the price changes based on day of the week. Rooms are small for the price. Would choose another hotel, but stuck with basketball team that secured the rooms. If we return to SoCal for a basketball tournament, I will be staying else where.
Review 77:Didn't have a large garbage can on each floor to dispose of diapers--had to go outside. Garbage can in bathroom too small for diapers. No coin laundry. Yes, laundry service is offered but sometimes the stains need to be taken care of immediately. Front desk staff was a bit young and short on suggestions, esp for GF restaurants. The rest of the staff was great.
Review 78:A very nice, clean, quiet hotel, beautifully decorated and maintained. About an hour from LA, it's still a manageable drive even in traffic. Excellent breakfast. There's a mall in Irvine with an In-and-Out Burger and Trader Joe's that has great healthy offerings like a juice bar and a vegetarian restaurant. The hotel is about 10 mins from Newport Beach and Balboa Island. It's very close to the airport. Staff was very nice about coming after midnight to vacuum our cereal crumbs.
Review 79:The prices of the food in the restaurant were rediculously high! We ate there anyway, since it was Christmas night and not many options nearby. The food was delicious ! Our compliments to the chefs and serving staff! 2 small bottles of water free. Another larger, maybe half liter for $7.00, again rediculously expensive! We found Albertsons 3 miles down PCH and bought a 6 pack of water for $3.00 plus snacks, which are only offered limited hours at the gift shop.
Review 80:The hotel and our Junior Sweet on the 10th floor corner room was excellent! Staff was Premier in every way! My husband was able to buy a high end tie for less than $30.00 In the gift shop. I was at Bloomingdales with the same tie in my hand for him,$155.00 plus tax.
Review 81:Mandatory Valet... I would have liked to have come and gone as I pleased without having to contact valet each time I needed my car.
Review 82:Everything was great.
Review 83:Minor point, but the A/C was tricky to control. We jsut turned it off eventually and all good.
Review 84:The staff was uniformly terrific. We left behind a piece of jewelry, which they found and arranged to send to our home. How often do you hear that?
Review 85:No free wifi in rooms and parking a little expensive
Review 86:Big room, extremely comfy bed. Nice pool and jacuzzi area open long hours. Good gym facilities and helpful staff on concierge, check in and valet.
Review 87:One of the nights at the hotel there was not hot water. I was unable to take a bath or shower until the next day and had plans to go out that evening.......After travelling all day, I decided I didn't feel fresh enough to go out.
Review 88:I always enjoy staying at the Fairmont in NB. It is clean and comfortable and the staff is always very nice.
Review 89:Wished we could've had an ocean view but that was impossible.
Review 90:Everything. The balcony, the bar, the staff, the room (corner). We stay at so many nice places like the Ritz Carlton, Four seasons, etc. and we took a chance and decided this hotel might be good and it was GREAT!!!!
Review 91:I did not like the fact I booked a room and with the hidden fees for parking and resort fees felt like I was getting charged Vegas prices for amenities I did not want or need to enjoy.
Review 92:Bed and staff were comfortable and nice.
Review 93:Need more staff at the restaurant, took quite awhile to get some basic necessities. The staff that were around looked extremely stressed. Just my opinion.
Review 94:Excellent and clean
Review 95:$30 for valet overnight parking is too much... and then there's the additional charge for wifi in the room... Really.. for that price it should be included.
Review 96:The rooms were fantastic. The facility is very good for the money. And the staff were outstanding.
Review 97:Mandatory valet parking for $20-$30.
Review 98:The location was good for my purposes. The Booking.com deal was great. The room was nicely appointed and the bed and linens were fabulous.
Review 99:Waiters and lounge staff non-attentive and slow. Food and drink prices very high
Review 100:Luxury hotel, so when it comes up on Booking.com at a good price ($225-250/night), I jump on it
Review 101:ROOM 608:Our king size bed sagged in the middle resulting in a non-restful sleep. The room smelled like mothballs upon entering.
Review 102:Great location and service. Room was nice. Like having the refrigerator in room. Nice smelling toiletry products.
Review 103:Being charged $20 a day for parking without notice before hand and never received extra towels as requested 2 months ago.
Review 104:The facility was beautiful... And the people were nice.
Review 105:Airplane noise everywhere! So bad couldn't sit at pool. No self parking... Besides expensive , very long wait to get car...daily! Rooms are not sound proof... Heard everything in hallway and from other rooms
Review 106:Breakfast room service, tho expensive it was very good
Review 107:We have experienced this at another Fairmont Hotels and this is the only but yet the biggest con and almost feels like a scam that will most likely prevent me from staying at the Fairmont again. You are forced to valet park at a premium price of $20 a day and they called at a "special" that weekend. There is no self parking yet many places available but clearly posted "not for hotel guests" or "valet parking only" sitting empty and forcing you to valet park, unless you park across the street like we did. I inquired at the front desk and they confirmed there is only valet parking for hotel guests. You will wait for your car coming and going and it is a big inconvenience. My wife and I parked across the street for free and still came and went while others were still waiting for their car paying the daily premium and feel feeling obligated to tip. You will be hit again with another obligation of tipping the bell host because they do not allow you to use their dollies without assistance even if you request for no help they insist and will tell you that it is required. Be expecting to be chased down and and escorted if you dare help yourself. Not a great experience when just arriving and leaving, it's disappointing because it ruined, what otherwise was a very pleasant stay.
Review 108:The furnishings decor layout of the room was stylish and comfortable. the rooms had mini fridges an excellent coffee makers with delicious coffee. The front desk housekeeping and room service were all friendly, courteous, and prompt in responding to your needs.
Review 109:Dirty towels. Bed sheets were not clean. Valet service was horrible. Parked next to a sprinkler that made spots all over my car and under a tree that left tree sap all over my car. I had to pay for my car to be detailed.
Review 110:The night valet parking is not for free, the wi-fi is not for free, the breakfast is not included, SPA is not for free. Too many plus for a very expensive place.
Review 111:very clean and extremely comfortable king size bed. Room very large.
Review 112:The housekeeping service was very disappointing.
Review 113:We were grateful for the hotel car service. This was most helpful!
Review 114:Many things in the facility were very worn. Carpets were dirty in places. Within our room two of the lighting fixtures were not working.
Review 115:The front desk employee who checked me in
Review 116:Everything except the checkin
Review 117:Too cold in hall ways ice machine Brocken had to go down to the ninth floor for it
Review 118:Clean room
Review 119:Customer service was awful. Security banging on my door for no reason making accusations.
Review 120:Clean and classy
Review 121:Walls too thin. Heard doors slamming all night
Review 122:Liked the comfortable Bed. Staff was great
Review 123:Great hotel. Great food food. Great room service. Hospitality fantastic. Will stay again. Beds were very comfortable.
Review 124:Hall ways had a funky smell
Review 125:The robes
Review 126:Other employees gave gf a hard time multiple times. No self parking.
Review 127:Location, valet staff.
Review 128:Best restaurant staff...ever!!!!
Review 129:Very accommodating!
Review 130:Clean room. Good bed. Loved the trees in the lobby.
Review 131:No complimentary WiFi
Review 132:Decent hotel
Review 133:Forced valet parking with $23 per day.
Review 134:Comfy clean room & bed. Accommodating staff.
