Reviews for Box Canyon Cabins
Review 1:There was a mix-up about our reservation and it could have been handled more politely.
Review 2:The cabin was adorable and cozy. We were mostly left in peace and the area was beautiful. Clean towels were available every day and the cabin's accouterments were homey and perfect.
Review 3:I didn't see anybody there, we got the message with all information about our staying there. The same was when we checked out.
Review 4:Great location, very comfortable house, well- equipped kitchen
Review 5:Did not meet any owner or staff member. Road into the property is in poor condition
Review 6:Location was isolated but very pretty. The cabin was very clean and comfortable
Review 7:Very quirky, romantic setting (we stayed in the Peterson cabin) Very clean and use of keycode for the doorway meant no need for a key. Breakfast is self-served/cooked, which was fine (but get yourself some butter/oil for the frying pan)
Review 8:Check in should be required when coming to this facility arrived early and had code so no one around so felt we could occupy cabin without checking in. Owner was very accommodating. Otherwise no complaints
Review 9:Great location to the Seward harbor. Very quiet, nice setting. Would visit this location again.
Review 10:The equipment in the kitchen was not sufficient to prepare breakfast. The cabin was not very spacious.
Review 11:Very good location, close to national park and harbor. The cabin was very quiet. Good WIFI and bathroom.
Review 12:All good! A short drive to Seward if you want to be closer then book somewhere else.
Review 13:Clean, comfortable cabin. Lovely location, outside fire pit and grill. Beautiful setting.
Review 14:When we arrived the code for our cabin didn't work. It was advertised as a bed and breakfast and it wasnt. We never saw the owners.
Review 15:It was very clean.
Review 16:Nothing serious to complain about. Minor thing is I may have caught the proprieter in a poor mood when I called to get access to our place. I was told I need to read my emails more closely. All info on your email so print it out unlike me. A minor point though really.
Review 17:The location was very peaceful. Being near the road to Exit Glacier and around the corner from the Seevey dog sledding group was convenient. Large grocery store a couple minutes away and town a couple more minutes away was nice. Very clean and kitchen well stocked.
Review 18:We have no problem cleaning the kitchen, but traveling from Texas made it difficult to carry cleaning products such as paper towels and 409. An extra garbage bag would have been helpful, especially for a 2-3 day stay. Made cleaning up a challenge.
Review 19:The cabins were comfortable, especially the beds. The key code locks were great because we didn't have to keep track of another key. The patio area was lush and had everything we could want to relax, barbeque, and enjoy the forest.
Review 20:The cabin was nicely appointed, nothing fancy but clean and well-kept with everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable memory foam or something like that. The grounds are well-maintained with a bbq grill and fire pit. 5-10 minutes from town at the end of a quiet side road. We liked Box Canyon Cabins!
Review 21:I didn't really feel dry pancake mix plus oatmeal sachets was enough to qualify as 'breakfast'. However the kitchen facilities enabled us to knock up our own.
Review 22:The cabin was extremely clean and well laid out. It was also in a lovely peaceful location, and sitting in beautiful grounds. Nowhere near the railroad tracks!
Review 23:We did not see an office or staff, however the cabin was stocked with everything we needed. It would have been nice to stay an hour longer and check out at 11am
Review 24:When we arrived the cabin was easily accessible with code provided by e-mail and was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved the location and closeness to exit glacier and was an easy drive into the town of Seward.
Review 25:Understood that breakfast was included in the price of the room. Upon arrival I found that meant there was pancake mix (already opened and past expiration date) unlabeled canister of oatmeal( could not tell if it was quick cooking or old fashioned) and a Tupperware container with Cheerios but no milk. There was an open bottle of syrup but no milk, butter, or juice. I was to use these provisions to make breakfast myself. Bottom line is breakfast is not a significant feature of the stay. Do not expect much.
Review 26:Lovely cabins well situated for visiting Seward and the Kenai National Park. The two bedroom cabins are especially nice.
Review 27:Had to check out by 10 am. One of the beds squeaked so badly we had to move on the middle of the night to the other bed.
Review 28:We stayed in Wolf Den which was the only renovated one. Clean and cheerful.
Review 29:Cabin was very cold upon our arrival. Had to keep coats on while it warmed up. After it warmed up it stayed warm. The outside light did not work, so we had to leave the car lights on in order to unlock the front door, then go back and shut off the car. Check out time was EARLY, 10 am. The weekend was Daylight savings time so it was really 9am. Did not really allow for much of a relaxing morning. Would have appreciated a later checkout time. It isn't like it is tourist season and others were waiting to get in. The ceiling over the bed was dripping slightly due to the rain and a leak in the roof. Dripping woke us during the first night of our stay.
Review 30:The bed was VERY comfortable.
Review 31:The property is gorgeous and very well maintained. We were in a one bedroom and it was small but tons of storage room, It isn't fancy but very homey. The bed had drawers on three sides. We had no contact with the owner but the staff we did have contact with were helpful and friendly, As long as you have a car the location is excellent-the dog mushers are within walking distance and Exit Glacier is right up the road. Safeway about a 5 or ten minute ride.
Review 32:When I booked the cabin, it says breakfast is included. But there is actually no breakfast except for there is a box of cereal and pancake mix (did not check whether they are opened) in one of the cabinets.
Review 33:We were very pleased with our stay at the Moose Cabin. It is very spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and utensils. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is well stocked and comfortable.
Review 34:Advertised as breakfast included. Breakfast was a bag of pancake mix, spray oil, and Safeway maple syrup. It would have better not to advertise breakfast since it isn't what anyone would expect. Also we booked the waterfall view again expecting a natural waterfall not a garden waterfall. We are very clean and was surprised regarding the warning, if it isn't left perfectly clean there would be a $50 cleaning charge including our coffee cups.
Review 35:Clean and comfortable.
Review 36:It sets in the middle of a gravel driveway. Stayed at Abode well next door the next night. Found it in a beautiful setting. Did not like not having staff onsite. Stairs to loft covered seating for eating.
Review 37:Beds comfortable
Review 38:It was a pretty location in the woods, but of course that meant it was too buggy to be outside. I also question the "waterfall view" description of our cabin- it was just a small water feature in the yard! Pretty funny... Also we were not sure what the other buildings were- is there a local main cabin available to everyone? Hard to tell.
Review 39:The cabin was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. We met no staff, but it was easy to contact them and access our cabin, and the instructions for finding it were good.
Review 40:We booked a cabin with a waterfall view which included breakfast. The waterfall was a small garden waterfall and breakfast was make your own they supplied the pancake mix, Pam and Safeway syrup, not what we had in mind. We were warned if we were not out by 10AM there would be a $50 charge. With a check in time of 4PM one should have until 11AM to check out. (one needs time to clean the kitchen after breakfast including dishes so as not to incur a kitchen cleaning fee.
Review 41:Very clean.
Review 42:book of rules left in the room we found rather insulting. $50 an hour if you want to stay past 10 AM checkout. 10 Am early for us. 11 is normal. NO BREAKFAST. never met the owners. a B & B should MAKE YOUR BREAKFAST, serve it, do the dishes! and be darn charming while doing it! a charge if you leave dishes. and they provided dry pancake mix, no butter, and called it breakfast! never saw the owners. it's for sale, maybe they just don't have the heart for it anymore. Booking.com claims to not charge til you arrive, but, they did.
Review 43:bed and room very nice. and coin laundry was great, but pricy! ($6.50 to wash & dry a load.) grounds very pretty.
Review 44:Electronic door locks email combinations. Check in when convenient. Landscaping, cabins everything about the facility was great other than being in a clearing in the forest. View was limited but close to Seward and very comfortable.
Review 45:cabin in the woods... waouh, gorgeous and confortable
Review 46:People from another cabin stayed up at fire pit way past midnight laughing and talking both night we were there.
Review 47:Beautiful setting in the woods. On the way to Exit Glacier park. Minutes from town and restaurants.
Review 48:Nice Setting
Review 49:Beautiful setting. Clean and comfortable.
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Everything!
Review 52:quaint and beautiful grounds. perfect for 2 couples.
Review 53:Excellent property, great location and very caring staff. Would love to return
Review 54:Location and love the cabins. So much better than staying in a hotel
Review 55:Great cabin for our family
Review 56:Beautiful property. Everything we needed was in the cabin. Pleasant stay.
Review 57:No breakfast
Review 58:Husband liked the fire ring.
Review 59:Scary isolated location. No staff on the property.
Review 60:Clean bathroom.
Review 61:Nothing!!!
Review 62:The location, the mooses, the beautiful cabin...a place we will surely miss!!!
Review 63:No comfortable seats to watch TV
Review 64:Excellent condition -fresh towels daily - great location to Seward.
Review 65:Everything but the weather. Fantastic facility and extremely convenient location.
Review 66:Beautiful quiet place. Nice cozy Cabins
Review 67:spacious, comfortable, cabins.
Review 68:The cabin is well appointed and in quiet location. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Seward.
Review 69:Comfortable and just enough room. Kitchen had basic supplies. Quiet and beautiful setting, close to Seward, but in the woods.
Review 70:wooded area, private but not too far away from Seward
Review 71:Landscape, property layout, on site laundry, peacefulness, location is close to Seward, and the staff was very helpful and discreet.
Review 72:Everything was great, the place was heavenly; peaceful, beautiful, quiet, very nice.
Review 73:As an Alaskan and have been to many cabins all over the state, this by far is the best location we have stayed at. I wish we had stayed there longer.
Review 74:Amazing stay ticks all the boxes
Review 75:Breakfast
Review 76:The cabins were very clean and comfortable. I loved the fire pit and surrounding areas
Review 77:Clean and cozy
Review 78:Breakfast was not really included. Some dry oatmeal and pancake mix, and that is it. Oh, and some coffee packets.
Review 79:The loft bed was not particularly comfortable, and the ladder was a bit treacherous. The overhead fan needed to be kept on all night to circulate the air. We never met any staff members at all, as the manager sends a code via email with room key combination.
Review 80:We had the Peterson Cabin; the setting was lovely, looking onto the grounds of the camp, with a pond and nice landscaping. The cabin was pristine and well equipped.
Review 81:Nothing all very good
Review 82:Perfect in every way the lady who owns the cabins was very welcoming and showed us all the thinks she had done to the cabins, we had a great fire in a fire pit with beer form down the road.
Review 83:Since we had read in reviews that fresh towel woul be brought each day we threw them in the laundry then did not have enough towels th second day. We never saw the owners. Each time we went to the office no one was there and there was no information on how to contact them. I admit we did not try the phone as we did not need to see them, but the literature I received said I was to present my id.
Review 84:The setting, the fire pits and the layout of the cabin were awesome
Review 85:Excellent facilities in a great location if you don't have to bedirectly in Seward. Other reviewers have complained about not meeting anowner onsite, but this was no problem at all. The one small question wehad was promptly answered by phone.
Review 86:The bathroom wasn't very clean. The laundry room should be accessible anytime with a code on the door for the cabins users and with business hours for external people.
Review 87:It is possible to cook which is not always the case in the cabins younrent in Alaska. Not many cabins on the site so it's calm and not crowded. The site is very clean.
Review 88:Reservation system, I did not have access to the email with the doorcodes and the person handling the reservation was annoyed I did not havethat info. I only looked at the invoice when the email came and did notscroll down to find out the door codes. Assumed a person would be onsite for check in.
Review 89:Cabins were clean, well taken care of, very nice setting in the woods
Review 90:The couch in the living room was not comfortable for sitting and visiting. It was a futon but much to wide to sit comfortably & there were no other soft chairs to sit on.
Review 91:We liked the outdoor feeling of the cabin sites and location to the river and mountains.
Review 92:The bed was very uncomfortable, and the whole place needed a gooddusting. We didn't really see anyone who worked there, so if therewas an issue (which there wasn't) I wouldn't have been sure whoto talk to.
Review 93:Having our own kitchen was great, (also, that it was stocked was anotherbonus) and feeling like we weren't just staying in another hotelroom was also really nice. The cabin atmosphere helped us get into themountain state of mine.
Review 94:Laundry facility needed longer hours or a key code to the door.
Review 95:Stayed in the Fisherman cabin. Great to have two bedrooms, family room and kitchen. Helped with the food budget when we could eat at the cabin. With WFI it made it great for us to do a little work.
Review 96:Cabins clean, well furnished, warm and very family friendly. Ground were wonderful for both kids and adults. firewood available and barbeques, everything manicured beautifully.
Review 97:Cabin was above expectations. Had directv, tempurpedic mattresses , gas stove , nice shower , lots of nice towels, 3 beds & 2 hideabeds. Beautiful water features everywhere
Review 98:The cabin was represented as a waterfall view cabin, I did not expect itto be man made. When it was mentioned that breakfast was included I didnot expect to have to buy the milk and eggs and cook it also. This beingsaid it was still very nice and we would stay there again.
Review 99:Clean modern cabins. Comfortable bed. Very nice grounds.
Review 100:I think including breakfast as part of the price is wrong when thatbreakfast is a packet of muesli and bag of pancake mix in the press, wewld hv preferred to pay a non breakfast rate and saved some money. Webought our own fresh cereal fruit and milk. Just so ppl know this is alovely place to stay but be aware it is 15min drive from seward and thatis the closest place to by any food etc so arrive prepared I think theowners should let guests know that
Review 101:Beautiful setting clean and comfortable great facilities
Review 102:Check in and Check out were confusing due to the owners not interacting with guests. Had to check in and out via phone call. Also it said breakfast was included however no information was given for time and place.
Review 103:The locations was nice, the cabin was prices just right. It was clean and I would visit again.
Review 104:Beautiful cottages nested in a clearing in the woods by a beautiful, well maintained spring. We had a 2 bedroom cottage that had a kitchen, living area, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. It was so quiet and beautiful!
Review 105:The place is really segregated and given we had to use taxis we in retrospect should have picked a more central spot. There is a horrid breakfast involving poor quality cereals in Tupperware therefore no guarantee of what guests before put in. Plus there is no milk (powder creamer for coffee only) so we could not have breakfast as had not been advised of it. We wanted to check in later than 10am and were asked to pay 50 dollars to stay an extra couple of hours so of course did not. Our hotel in Anchorage and other places in the US extended with no issue or cost, even up to 2pm. I would rate customer service as poor due to this and mattresses were really uncomfortable. There is no attended office - a family member stays on the premises but may be in their own premises. We arrived before the 4pm check in and the person was really surprised to see us and kept reiterating the 4pm check in time. While I understand there is a set time they could have tried to accommodate as I clearly said we had come from a cruise and I needed to ask for an earlier time which was then settled to 2pm. We had our luggage a so needed to leave them in the office for the day which was no issue. It was a huge hassle to have to walk around the one road in Seward until the 6pm train to Anchorage because of the inflexible check out.
Review 106:Quite nice cabins
Review 107:Beautiful grounds, sweet little pond with nice landscaping. Cabins are cute, comfortable and well stocked for cooking. Off the beaten track--in the woods, nice neighborhood for walking. There is a fabulous crepe restaurant around the corner even though it is in a neighborhood.
Review 108:there was rabbit droppings on the couch and a few other places and for 125 a night we should not have had to wash our own dishes the place was actually cleaner when we left than when we got there and the promised bbq was not available the owner obviously does not clean well maybe its just because it was the off season but I feel we should have gotten it a little cheaper
Review 109:the drive was nice
Review 110:Clean. Well stocked.
Review 111:Beautiful grounds, well kept, clean and a few groceries left. Loved the firepits and waterfall.
Review 112:Grounds and firepit
Review 113:great location & good for stargazig
