Reviews for Montauk Yacht Club

Review 1:Not a bad experience ... but something that took a little planning. Having the closet in the bathroom made it difficult for four of us to get showered and dressed efficiently. We couldn't get to our clothes because someone was using the bathroom.

Review 2:Thanks to reading reviews, we spent a little extra to book a marina-view room. It was worth it, especially since the weather was unseasonably warm and we were able to enjoy the outdoor deck both nights - very helpful when two adults & two teenagers are sharing a two-double bed hotel room. Actually, the room was quite large for a two double bedroom, when you add in the large bathroom and walk-in closet space.

Review 3:The walls are thin. You can hear people walking down hallways and the second floor guests who walk around room loud.

Review 4:Warm and friendly staff, Christmas activities, indoor pool

Review 5:No maid service (which is inexcusable) even after requesting that someone clean the room for us, front desk person stated: "I'll see if I can find someone" but never did/ never called us back; we had to clean the room ourselves and search for a dumpster to empty garbage; food in on site restaurant was not impressive top say the least/ especially for the price; they ran out of a number of choices on the menu as well and the waitress seemed to be in a hurry and we could not always understand her accent; when I complained again at checkout about the lack of maid services the response was a lame.. "I'm sorry" and he began a robotic explanation of credit card charges; there were multiple fingerprints on sliding glass doors upon check in

Review 6:nice layout of room; water view; deck/patio w/ chaise lounge very relaxing; peaceful surroundings

Review 7:The staff, esp the night time bartender from Greece, not interested in his customers, bad service, worst bartender I have ever encountered and I work in the industry. Went to go to the pool the first morning and if was locked, after speaking with front desk they told us they were closing at noon and that was why it was locked... Although this was only 9am, I asked why I had paid for this facility and was being refused entry because they were closing, I was then told to wait there and someone would be down to let us in. We waited 15mins and no one showed up, was so angry, I know it was offseason but I am still paying a lot of money to stay here, shouldn't I be entitled to all facilities?? It's amazing how management are letting the staff ruin people's experience here, for a high end club, I suggest getting some proper trained staff.

Review 8:Loved the room and the location of the property.

Review 9:Rooms weren't all that clean. Looked like a fresh coat of paint over some OLD walls and furnishings. First room we went to the door wouldn't close. 2nd room they gave us had the key card lock falling off and hadn't been painted around the edge showing where and old lock had been.

Review 10:Right on the marina.

Review 11:Housekeeping was extremely poor, we were amazed at how bad it was. Our room was not ready until 5 PM. The first thing we noticed was trays of food in the hallways, which remained there overnight and well into the next day from other guests, including some broken glasses. The next day our room had not been straightened by 2 PM when we came back to freshen up, we advised the main desk and they called housekeeping to do so right away, we left for dinner at 5:45, the room was finally done by the time we came back. Doubtful we'll go back although it is beautiful, the housekeeping staff leaves much to be desired.

Review 12:The bed was very comfortable, the room was large and very nice and the location and grounds are beautiful. The bartender and waiter were very attentive and very polite.

Review 13:I enjoyed my stay however, since I was on the first floor I heard every noise made by the room above me. It seems that the hotel should invest in better floor covering for noise reduction. Also the decor while charming looks like it could be updated - things appear worn and old. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on an evening when they had a wedding and the restaurant after placing our order we were told they were out of items on the menu; they also did not offer any compensation or complimentary drink or dessert given their shortsightedness. Lastly, there is no business center on the site so obtaining a document that needed to be signed and faxed back to an extremely long time.

Review 14:I loved the cleanliness of the rooms and that I had my own little deck and access to a small beachfront. The staff was always pleasant and professional.

Review 15:room was right near facilities closet could have been cleaner no view from room no hd tv could use a few updates- bathroom and such

Review 16:fire pit pool nice bartender (was a female)

Review 17:Staff was uninterested and even rute Airco was very old made incredible much noice Diving walls were made of cardboard you litterly hear the next room Poor bed with syntetic deckmatrass and strangly smelling bedlinnen Not enough waterpressure in the badroom so having troubles flyshing the toilet And so in and so on. Too much to mention. We paid over 900 $ for 2 nights. No value for money at all

Review 18:When we called the front desk for shampoo and towels they never came. The housekeeping started cleaning our room before we even checked out.

Review 19:The waterview room! Closeness to the beach and water

Review 20:That we were told the indoor pool was closed when we went to go in at 7:20, although the sign said, open from 9am-9pm. The front desk worker said that sign was only for in season and the pool closed at 7. So we went back to our room, disappointed. We showered and figured we weren't swimming, so we were donw for the night. About 20 minutes later, when my 9 year old son went to the front desk to get a towel(he was told there weren't any). He saw the lights on by the pool and a family swimming!!!!! Of course, it was too late for us to go in. That being said, we had considered returning later in the Fall, and definitely next Summer, but that experience really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Review 21:The easy check in and out. The outdoor scene.

Review 22:The bathroom had a pedalstal sink. There was no counter to put your your make up bags, hair dryer, etc.

Review 23:We rented a villa. Best location on property. Private, secluded, beautiful. Will stay every year if I can get the same Villa!! It was our wedding anniversary and they sent us complimentary Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. So thoughtful and beautiful with orchids.

Review 24:We arrived a bit early and were pleased the hotel was able to check us in. However, upon arriving to our suite, there was a rather awful smell in the room we were given. It smelled like a combination of throw-up and Fabreeze. We called the front desk to have them remove a chair we thought perhaps was the culprit. This was the day after July 4th so perhaps some party people had the room the night before and someone had an episode. We can only imagine that the hotel staff had done their best to clean up the room but it needed more than a thorough scrubbing, in this particular case. Following that, my GF found a blonde hair in the towel she went to use after taking a shower. Ultimately the room just didn't feel very clean and the front desk was kind to move us to a different suite, which was much better. They also comped us breakfast, which was nice (especially considering how expensive the restaurant is). The hotel staff did the best they could to accommodate us and were responsive. However, we did get charged $25 for checking out an hour late (check out is 11am and they are strict with it). After the the whole throwup room episode we were hoping they would waive that too. In general, the Yacht club is nice and the staff was accommodating, but at the rates they charge we were really expecting something superior. It is the Hamptons, after all. We wouldn't stay there again.

Review 25:We went to the Hamptons to get away from NYC! Mission accomplished.

Review 26:We were in room 740 and experienced an electrical problem in our bathroom. Lights and hairdryer would not work.

Review 27:The Villa we got to stay in was out of this world! The view and stillness of surroundings were perfect.

Review 28:Bees on balcony.

Review 29:Television in room did not subscribe to the channel to view the Ranger game. Front desk opened the bar and we got to see them win that night!

Review 30:Everything was great for what we paid!

Review 31:Free shuttle to town with great drivers. The one driver even have us a little tour along the way. We also were to ride bicycles around!

Review 32:A nice little extra would be some kind of outdoor heater for our little deck so we could sit outside in the cooler weather. Aren't you glad you asked??!!

Review 33:Restaurant was great Bar and bartender Jeffrey perfectly attentive

Review 34:It's a pet friendly hotel, which is awesome, and of course you have to pay a nonrefundable fee to keep your pup with you, but then they offer no pet amenities such as a food bowl, water bowl, bed, etc. They don't even have any of these items in housekeeping. I have all of that and it's no problem and may even sound a bit high matience, but it would be nice to have a few of these things to make them actually "pet friendly" and not just "pet tolerant". The bar drinks are really overpriced, but understandably due to the Yacht Club. I'd suggest going into town and eating and drinking there since everything is so close (gigshack was delicious!) Loved Jean at the bar and Stacey at reception :)

Review 35:The beach at the hotel is just a few feet long and during peak season can get overcrowded The spa needs a bit of work.

Review 36:excellent service by the staff, electric charging station at the hotel was very convenient , there was a wedding the same weekend of our stay and the staff were very considerate to make sure the other guests were not disturbed Swimming pool at the facility well kept

Review 37:Breathtaking sunrise (lake side room), beautiful setting. Liked the yacht club sensibility about the place. We stayed off season, and stuff was helpful and accommodating but no idea how it is in high season.

Review 38:No bad experiences

Review 39:The resort was well staffed and clean. The refinement and quality I appreciate was not lacking even though the season doesnt begin for another 2 weeks

Review 40:Food was excellent as always. Only negative there was a hair in the creamer at breakfast. I have stayed and ate at the yacth club several times and the majority or the staff is great. The wait staff in the restaurants does come off slightly unfriendly and I have had different servers so it isn't even the same server each time.

Review 41:Room always clean and in excellent condition. Beautiful location and clean. Friendly staff for check-in, bartenders, greeters (door openers), and host/hostess.

Review 42:We arrived on a wet and wild night and had to wait some time for reception staff to attend as there was a conference group in. More staff needed to cope with larger numbers.

Review 43:We arrived from New Orient after a long drive and two ferry trips on a wet and wild night. Any thoughts of dinner in town were forgotten so we ate at the bar where the service and food was excellent.

Review 44:Staff was OK, they were polite but they didnt seem to want to go out of their wasy to help

Review 45:Beds and pillows were very good, room and bathroom ( shower) were extremly clean and up tp date.

Review 46:I selected the property because of its positive reviews. There were several rooms available and yet we were given a room below another guest. The walls were so thin we could hear the guest walking back and forth in the room all evening and were even awakened by them in the morning. When I spoke to the manager she offered an apology, said it'd be noted but wasn't very apathetic towards our inconvenience. Big thumbs down and a place would not recommend.

Review 47:The view from the hotel was nice. The restaurant located on the property served up a good meal.

Review 48:Stayed in villa 4 close to the tennis courts and wi-fi was spotty anddifficult to stay connected or research anything. My only complaint asdid not function well even after staff was told of this issue.

Review 49:Facilities and staff were great. Really comfortable grounds with tennis, bikes and a private semi-beach for relaxation. Kayaks were alsoavailable. Prices for dining reasonable

Review 50:Room layout felt a bit awkward, as well there was a lack of mirrors in the room. Only mirror was in the bathroom therefore if bathroom busy, the other person could not properly get ready.

Review 51:Check-in was quick. Room in Villa was clean.

Review 52:Staff (reception) The small and "fake" beach The cocktails The wifi is terrible Location is far from the city and the beaches - the real ones.

Review 53:The bedroom is comfortable

Review 54:We had stayed there before and had not realized that The Villas was a slightly remote area of the hotel. Would prefer being in the main area though it was very nice. Just felt like we were the only ones down there.

Review 55:There is nothing we didn't like.

Review 56:Love the Montauk Yacht Club, always feels like you are coming home. The staff is amazing and the location is the best.

Review 57:didn't have roll away I ordered,. husband asked five times ended sleeping on floor first night. no WiFi even though they said there was, and bathroom was full of ants.

Review 58:Rooms badly soundproofed. I could hear fully conversations clearly thruwalls. Paper thin walLS. Very bad. Ruined my stay. Period. Very verydissspointing. For a 400 dollar a night villa room

Review 59:Pool staff conor ODwyer and bellman Vladimir fantastic. The pizza fromHurricane Alley and French fries amazing.

Review 60:Checking in took awhile. Then couldn't find our rooms with the directions given. But staff was helpful and willing .

Review 61:Our room was spectacular . But our reservation got screwed up. I had requested 2 beds in the room. We were upgraded because of the problem. Which was awesome thank you and our breakfast was fantastic!

Review 62:We much preferred the live band and the special drink menu. We found the bartenders almost annoyed by our presence. Last time we were visited there were specialty drinks both on menu and in decanters on bar and bar staff were great. It was not that way at all this time.

Review 63:The location and the privacy of the Villa room.

Review 64:Rooms just needed a bit of a freshen up.

Review 65:Location, friendliness of staff. Food excellent.

Review 66:I liked everything

Review 67:Loved the location. Staff very nice. Loved the naitical theme.

Review 68:I had no hot water to take a shower during my stay

Review 69:Cottage

Review 70:Breakfast was a little expensive & food was ok

Review 71:Staff was very nice

Review 72:the The Price of food and drinks over the top the beds are to small. and the toilet is to low.

Review 73:The Location and staff were good

Review 74:Great place. Staff is great. A special thanks to the bartenders, Geoff and O'Neill, who went out of their way to make the bar experience great.

Review 75:none

Review 76:Feel of the hotel. Excellent front desk, easy check-in Conify beds, nice sized rooms Well-kept grounds

Review 82:The staff and the new manager was very friendly and helpful.

Review 83:We liked how accommodating they all were.

Review 84:Location staff atmisphere

Review 85:the internet was a bit poor

Review 86:The views, the restaurant , the atmosphere teh location

Review 87:Nothing.

Review 88:The staff were so friendly and kind. The room with a view across the marina with the sun rising in the east across the bay! Food yummy.

Review 89:Unique site on waterfront. Large rooms.

Review 90:the view was great and the bed was comfortable. Like the room decoration.

Review 91:Great bed, good restaurant, great staff, especially Kara at the front desk.

Review 92:The food was less than appealing.

Review 93:Restaurant Rooms View Friendly Staff

Review 94:Small, clean and quaint

Review 95:Villa rooms noisy with upstairs guest Wifi horrible Room while clean needs update

Review 101:The view and location are excellent. The dining restuarant and foods are excellent.

Review 102:cost too for off season.

Review 103:Quiet room and very clean.

Review 104:It was a pleasant surprise !! Couldn't ask for a better place to relax and unwind. I'm coming back again soon.

Review 105:Cleanliness of rooms, views, best location ever, very friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again!

Review 106:Loud party from yachts at night.

Review 107:Great location and facilities.

Review 108:Friendly, attentive staff Awesome place to stay in Montauk

Review 109:Nothing!

Review 110:Location, Location!

Review 111:The food was not very good, our breakfast omelet and hash browns were undercooked and extremely under seasoned. The dinner menu didn't interest us at all so we ate outside of the resort that night. They didn't provide any complimentary water in our rooms and the $3.00 water at the vending machine was completely overpriced. The bar staff was rude and inattentive and seemed annoyed every time we interrupted their conversation and asked for another drink. The music by the pool was a bit much techno the entire time some variation would have been nice.

Review 112:We loved how quiet and private the location was. The beach right by our room was excellent, the option of an indoor and outdoor pool is great. The amenities in general were top notch. Our overall experience was great and they allowed our dog which was really important for us. The free bike rentals and paddle boats were so much fun. I would definitely recommend the resort and go again myself.

Review 113:the room seemed a bit awkward and like maybe a piece of furniture was missing.

Review 114:the view from the room was beautiful and felt really secluded and peaceful.

Review 115:Lovely large room with well appointed bath. Room had a lanai bordering the dock. Unfortunately, golf carts and walkers made it not private at all. a very pretty setting, next time we will take a room on the second floor where the lanais seem to be smaller but a lot more private.

Review 116:There were major problems in dining room at breakfast. The maître de was most of the problem, rude and of no help. Later in the day, I asked to speak with the general manager who was not available so I left a message for him to return my call. That was three days ago.

Review 117:The location of our room was beautiful overlooking the beach and montauk lake. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Review 118:Its a little far from town if you prefer to me more active Beds and pillows are not that comfortable Pool wasn't open even to use the pool chaise chairs Water in vending machine was $3.00

Review 119:The views and property were beautiful The staff was great The food was perfect Great location for a romantic getaway

Review 120:There was nothing that I took exception to!

Review 121:The facilities were more extensive than I thought and the presentationof the resort was excellent and interesting.

Review 122:The service quality across the staff members was inconsistent, but most of them provided excellent service. The restaurant is overpriced for the quality of the food. Overall, the room rates and service prices were overpriced, particularly being off-season. Also, some things were not as advertised in the website. Bicycles were not available during off-season.

Review 123:Rooms were very nice and clean, balconies were a nice plus. They offered specials during the offseason that made some of their spa services more affordable. Spa itself was amazing, the massage I got there was out of this world.

Review 124:None of the shops were open off-season and front desk didn't have any T-shirts for purchase. Weird, and a loss of money for them. Also, front desk not helpful in trying to arrange a spa appointment -- clearly didn't want to help arrange. Disappointment. Bar was overpriced.

Review 125:Nice location, room was spacious, beautiful scenery.
