Review 1：Tub looks like it was separating from the wall, I went down to the main office to ask for towels, they said they would call house keeping. No one ever came. I went to another floor and found house keeping if I can take from there cart.

The shower was extremely loud when it was running and the fan on the heating unit was very loud also. It kept waking my husband up during the night.

Review 14：There were a lot of small maintenance issues that needed to be taken care of. (loose towel racks, loose faucet knobs, etc.) Our room should have had a king size bed but it was obvious that a queen size bed was in place of the king as the headboard that was attached to the wall was quite a bit too short for the width of the bed. The place really needs an update. Even a few coats of paint on the walls and furniture would spruce it up. The posted rate on the door was $275 per night for a single, which must be during the season. I can certainly say I wouldn't have been happy with the decor or condition of the room if that was the rate I paid.
Review 15：The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were there in the off season so the attentiveness could have just been from lack of other things to do.The hotel is right on the boardwalk/ocean so the view and balcony were very nice. There was a Jacuzzi (tub, not full size) in our room (so you can watch TV while in the Jacuzzi) and it was wonderful. Both my wife and I fit in it together with plenty of room to spare. We also really liked the room's walk in shower. There is more than enough room for two people and there are two shower heads so no one has to be left out in the cold. Other amenities in the room included a mini-fridge, flat HD TV, coffee maker, and safe. It was a great room for our over night anniversary get away.

Review 32：The room was in needed repair. The bath did not have a skirt, so you could see the dirt that gathered there and the floor tile were broken. The paint and wall paper are peeling. The carpet had water stains, and the tile grout in the floor was dirty and needed repaired.

The night staff was rude and i had to come to the front desk who was rude and handed me one light bulb when i said our lights didnt work...light bulb was burnt out. I am disgusted that we spent so much money to stay here!

Review 51：The hotel was old and the balconies leaked down onto each other. The bed wasn't comfy and the comforter was old, we had to ask for extra pillows. All the hotels at VA beach are near the Norfolk naval base, so prepare for horrendously loud jets to fly by every so often.

I called to see if we could move our room as they told my fiancee that they were sold out. They moved us to a king room much better size. The comfort of the bed was very poor three little pillows did not work. The pool is not an indoor pool nor a outside pool. I wouldn't stay here again.

The exterior is very dirty and this place needs some major overhaul. I sure hope the owner reads this review and takes action instead of ignoring some of the same comments. Avoid this place at all cost.

Review 81：Well, it's an older hotel that needs to be upgraded. We weren't in the room a lot so that was a good thing. There is only one word for the indoor pool while we were there....terrible. You could not see the bottom and there was a noticeable skim on top of the water. Would not allow the kids in there which was a disappointment . Wish you could get breakfast before 8:00 am.

Review 83：We book a deluxe room. we also indicated-- prefer away from entrance /elevator because we rest early at night,want the room in the quiet section. Instead we got our room right in front of the swimming pool on the first level. The room was smelly and the AC unit was super loud. ( sound like 2 engines ) Could not sleep at all. there was not screen door so we could not open the patio door. Terrible terrible. We paid higher rates with booking.com and the room was not near deluxe. So we made a complain to booking.com. We got to change to another room w higher floor. No other compensation was give out. To change to other is a way to solve the customer complain nothing so special about it in my opinion.

They put us on the 6th floor in the very last room and for 3 days we were dodging mattresses, carpet, foam & bed frames where they were replacing them in other rooms. They also put us on a floor w/no vending or ice. Why not put us on a floor without construction and maintenance? or at the other end of the hall? Not to mention to noise of it all...

Review 115：The indoor pool was very dirty, try explaining to a 4 year old they can not swim due too the pool being so dirty, was not fun. The Hotel over all can use a lot of updating. There was a huge hole next to our bathroom between the tub and the door, the jets in the tub did not work at all. The parking spots are very close which being this time of year was not a problem but if it were summer I could see a lot of complaints with there being not enough room between the cars to be able to unpack your belongings. Also you could hear the other people around you rather they were in the hallway or in there rooms and you were in your room.

Review 124：I only had an issue with the photographs on this website and others, they are EXTREMELY outdated, the condition of the hotel has slowly deteriorated and no real remodeling has been done since (I am guessing because of the decor) the mid 70's-early 80's. I feel even though the price is pretty reasonable giving the condition versus the location, that it is sort of false advertising. I think they should be made to update their photographs to be able to stay on booking sites because of the feeling that people are being duped.
Review 125：I loved the location, close to all the attractions that interested me, walking distance to many of the great restaurants and activities. I absolutely was ecstatic with the front desk attendants, always welcoming and helpful. The rooms were quite nice despite the age of the decor. I also thought that the price was excellent...not too bad for a ocean front hotel. Overall I would choose to stay here again, and I had an excellent time in VA Beach! Also want to add that they went above and beyond when there was an issue with charges on my bank account! I would not use DEBT...some banks will mess reservations up!

Review 128：We almost didn't come to Virginia Beach this year, because last year we stayed @ Travelodge on 19th St. and had homeless people approach us asking for money and making remarks. Didn't feel safe or happy about being on vacation and having to deal with them. After a lot of thought, we decided to come back to Newcastle - 4th time we've stayed here - so glad we did! Even though the hotel needs some updating, we choose this hotel for the price, location, cleanliness (especially of the grounds - if a piece of trash ended up on the grass, next time I looked it was gone), friendly and helpful staff, and for sentimental reasons - we stayed here when we got married three years ago! We didn't encounter as many homeless people at this end of the boardwalk - we realize it's nothing the hotel has control over. Happy to not have been approached by them this year.
