Reviews for 5th Street Inn

Review 1:Very clean, we had trouble with our television in the evening and the owner came over and fixed it. He was very friendly as was his son who checked us in.

Review 2:The fireplace didn't work. Never saw a single person who worked there.

Review 3:Bed super comfy. Lots of room for our toddler to walk around. Proximity to Yosemite.

Review 4:Recliner fell apart Minor thing, but shower is hooked up with hot and cold reversed.. Waited for a long time under cold water before I realised :-)

Review 5:Spacious rooms, can accommodate 6 if needed. Not too far from Yosemite unless 140 is closed. Very close to restaurants and cafes.. Right off the highway but quiet place. Yosemite park pass is valid for 7 days so you came pay once and travel back over the weekend

Review 6:The heater was a bit annoying-too loud and it made a squeaking noise when it shut off.

Review 7:Conveniently located and quiet (except for the heater). The room was laid out nicely and was very clean. Nothing fancy!

Review 8:Cutest little hotel in Mariposa! We got a free upgrade when the heating was broken in our room. The staff were very accommodating and the upgrade was amazing!!

Review 9:Cute place in the cutest town. Great Rooms, Great Price and very friendly and helpful (I asked lots of questions) front desk (Isaac). Would highly recommend.

Review 10:Absence of staff & management, noise from guest upstairs room walking above us, lights shining through our front windows & door from the nursery spotlights

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Nothing !

Review 13:Stayed in the King Suite/Bridal Veil Suite. Exceeded our expectation on every level, room was awesome and not expensive.Plenty of places to eat near by.

Review 14:Nothing - I loved it!

Review 15:Absolutely adorable place! Would come back again and again every time I go to Yosemite! Spacious room, comfortable bed, fresh new linens, coffee and refrigerator. Great location in town with cute shops and great restaurants!

Review 16:It would be good if there was a microwave.

Review 17:The location is great! Clean room and plenty of parking. It is really easy to find and right of the main street in mariposa. We loved the place and wish we could stay there longer.

Review 18:No one on site to ask questions or make requests. Toilet leaked & noisy. Shower heater didn't work. Several light bulbs burned out. All were fixed, except heater, when we reported them. Wi-fi service weak.

Review 19:In town, within walking distance of restaurants, shops and a museum.

Review 20:We were EXTREMELY disappointed to hear the toddler tantrums that took place almost our entire first day and woke us up the next morning at 8am continuing for the rest of the morning. We understand the walls are thin but it was a terrible idea to put us in a room right next door to a family with babies when there were plenty of open rooms downstairs. It would have been nice if there were someone on staff that we could talk to at the inn.

Review 21:The inn is very quaint and perfectly located. The woman I spoke to on the phone at check in was very sweet.

Review 22:Nothing!

Review 23:Excellent stay at a wonderful B&B-like hotel. The location was perfect -- we walked up and down the main street from the hotel. The staff was absolutely superb! Some of the best customer service I've ever had at a hotel. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend 5th Street Inn to anyone wanting to visit Yosemite or Mariposa.

Review 24:Very pretty house! Fine big room in lovely Mariposa. Great Mexican restaurant over opposite. Good for a visit to Yosemite Park. YART bus goes from Mariposa to Yosemite valley.

Review 25:Room walls are very thin. You can easily hear the neighbor taking a shower. Could do a little better job cleaning.

Review 26:Quaint hotel created from two homes. 50's furniture. Bed was very comfortable. WiFi worked well.

Review 27:Thin, white curtains leave too much light to shine into the room in the morning. The price of the room was too high

Review 28:close to the town center with a few of interesting restraunts

Review 29:Door of the room (we were just left of the lobby, downstairs) could not be properly locked from the inside. Thin, white curtains leave too much light to shine into the room in the morning. The price of the room was too high (we payed 154 $ for a double with queen beds).

Review 30:One hour drive from Yosemite National Park.

Review 31:Stayed in the "honeymoon suite". Beautifully appointed, full living room with fireplace, kitchen facilities. Balcony with a few chairs. Very good for the money.

Review 32:Everything in room was very good but some noises and some smells from garbage bins behind nearby businesses. Had the window open at night for mountain air but had to close it.

Review 33:Well appointed and had a big jet tub so after a day of climbing and hiking it was very welcome. Staff were very pleasant. Town was historic and worth exploring the next day. Lots of fun.

Review 34:Quiet location, restaurants and shops in walking distance. Very friendly, clean, free wify. Definitely a good place to start a trip to Yosemite Nationalpark

Review 35:Specifically asked for 1st floor for health reasons. Was placed on 2ndfloor with 2 flights of stairs, no other room left. No assistanceavailable. Paint was peeling in bathroom and stairs. Soft spot/holein floor of walkway.

Review 36:Staff were very pleasant. Confident of cleanliness

Review 37:Very thin walls (noisy). Feels like the bathroom of the room next door is part of ours. Small room with no table to sit at. We had to eat breakfast on the bed. And use our coolbox as table. Place rly aint worth the amount they charge. I have had similar stays at other places for a third of the money charged. (Farther from Yosemite though)

Review 38:Clean rooms. No ice, but they do have a little fridge.

Review 39:We liked the fact that the room was spacious and that the Inn is within the walking distance to everything in Mariposa. The drive to Yosemite was beautiful and interesting and felt shorter than it was.

Review 40:The WiFi kept going in and out but other then that nothing!

Review 41:My husband and I loved this place! We were so surprised how big the room and bed was and just loved the friendliness of the staff! It also is a great location with all of the towns amenities on its doorstep. Only an hour drive to yosmite too. If we ever make it back to california we will be staying at this hotel again!

Review 42:We had the kitchenette/living room, which was great except for the ambient light coming in all windows at night. Darker curtains would be helpful. Wifi kept cutting out in the morning but if you could find the staff, they would help try to get it working again.

Review 43:A nice place with a good location near restaurants and a grocery store. Pretty easy in and out of Tosemite (a bit of a drive but beautiful scenery). Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 44:It takes around 1 hour, or little more to reach the hotel from the park.

Review 45:This is a cute building conveniently located on the way to Yosemite taking the 140, and close to the life center of Mariposa; the room was really cozy and clean, feeling like being at home, bets confortable and the guy in the front desk really helpful. Ideal if you don't like to stay inside the park, having more leisure options

Review 46:I stayed at the 5th St. Inn with my husband for a weekend trip to Yosemite. We got in pretty late and the guy on duty was very friendly and helpful in suggesting bars/restaurants that were still open. Upon walking in to the room (207) we were instantly impressed. The room was clean and comfortable. Next time we visit Yosemite, we're going to make sure to book early enough to get the same room!

Review 47:Our only complaint was the light shining in from the exterior light. Everything else, including the great little town of Mariposa, was fantastic!

Review 48:We were going to be arriving late so I called to let the lodge know and they were so accommodating! They provided us with our room number and code and then had our beds all made up when we arrived! My kids loved all the space and the cozy feel of our room!

Review 49:Great location in an attractive town about an hour's easy drive from the park. Friendy staff, very clean and comfortable. Good choice of dinner options within short walk

Review 50:Trash dumpster outside bedroom window with noisy pickup during early morning hours. Late night arrival of other guests and noise could be heard through bedroom wall.

Review 51:Privacy, clean, charming.

Review 52:The air conditioner didn't cool at all. It was set at the lowest temperature possible & was still hot. The room needs to be updated. The beds were comfortable.

Review 53:Easy access from the inn to Yosemite & other locations in town.

Review 54:We met the manage at check-in ,friendly but reserved, but no one around when we left and never received a copy of the account which was charged to our credit card the day before. The inn looks to be an old house modified to provide 5 or 6 rooms each of which would vary I suspect.

Review 55:The room was spacious with all expected facilities, if a little quaint. Mariposa is a smallish town very handy for Yosemite, with some character and the Inn is just off the main Street in the centre of town so very convenient to restaurants and shops. Room was quiet at the back of the house.

Review 56:We were to pay USD at the booked rate at the motel. But they charged our visa 24 hrs before. No black tea available and no kettle to boil water. This is a common complaint in the US.

Review 57:Good location, easy check in, clean and tidy room, value for money

Review 58:The AC blasted very cold air and was very noisy. Seemed cheap of them to charge for water when there was no ice, at least that I could find. Parking was difficult (on the street), but then I inadvertently arrived late and thus had to negotiate a steep incline.

Review 59:Just lovely accommodations in terms of cleanliness, ambience, bedding, Jacuzzi (that I didn't use). Very upscale

Review 60:Wifi was a little inconsistent in our room but strong near reception.

Review 61:Everything! We had a very warm greeting. We stayed in the suite- it was spacious, very clean, comfy bed and cosy. We really loved it!

Review 62:We had a BIG room with a private, hidden entrance, a very large jacuzzi tub, with restaurants, shops, and a fun museum all in very short walking distance.

Review 63:A bit cold in the room, we didn´t manage to stop or turn down the air-conditioning (seemed to be broken). Street was quiet, but we heared everything from outside (many windows, bad sound-isolation).

Review 64:The room was OK, clean, spacious, fully equipped kitchen.

Review 65:There is no pool or grounds. There is no ice machine onsite, no ice trays in the room refrigerator to make ice. The evening staff suggested I go to the restaurant across the street and pay for ice. The room was overpriced at $155.00 dollars and there was no pool, no breakfast, no ice available and no morning staff. The staff (2 young girls) showed up at 4:30. The room that we were given the entry code to by phone at 2:00 pm, had a faulty AC and wouldn't cool the room down. There were 2 small old chairs but no table in the room. There were 2 queen beds. The walls and bedding were all white with 2 black & white photos on the wall. The room was so stark it was like a hospital room. The room was clean except for someone's dish of old ice cream in the freezer. Once we found the staff at 4:30pm, they agreed to move us to another room.

Review 66:We had problems with the AC in our first room and they agreed to move us to a room with an AC that worked. There are simple things to improve the experience that could be done. The small microwave is sitting on top of a small refrigerator and slides back and forth when opening it and there's no counter or space to set anything down. The top of microwave was covered in a small coffee machine and basket. If they simply put a longer board under the microwave, on top of the refrigerator, it would secure the microwave from moving around and you would have room to put your cup down on it. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. But with no amenities onsite, the cost of 155.00 was overpriced. There is a penalty of 25.00 to cancel your reservation from the moment you make it. So beware.

Review 67:This was a perfectly ok room, a little run down, at the top of stairs (not for those with bad knees. The room was a little small, and there were some signs of wear, but it was perfectly serviceable. I can't compare it to any other place in the area (very convenient to the most popular entrance to Yosemite National Park, about a 45 minute drive).

Review 68:The murphy bed has a bit of a slope down towards the head of the bed but it was passable. Would be better if they level it out though.

Review 69:Liked it overall. Good value.

Review 70:Parking limited

Review 71:We had the room with the hot tub, perfect to relax after a long day trekking round Yosemite!! Room large and comfortable, staff friendly and accommodating

Review 72:Room darkening shades would be a good addition. We were in 203, which faces the street, and there was a lot of light coming in all night long, from the sign, the porch lights, and the restaurant lights across the street.

Review 73:The location and price is great, room was very clean and updated.

Review 74:Wi-Fi was so slow I a young teen how need to do his home work on line that he had waited to at the last minute of course it was his fault for that and made my trip so short because I felt guilty but Internet with a few MPS would've been better than nothinand was getting lesson one MPS and no download

Review 75:A nice little motel

Review 76:Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss and couldn't get hold of an iron / ironing board for 3 nights I was there. Minor inconvenience.

Review 77:Excellent value for money. Nice town to stay at within fairly easy access to Yosemite. Town has enough to offer for 2 - 3 nights and good base for Yosemite. Ended up spending a day in Mariposa which was enjoyable with a great Museum. Easy to get the YART bus to Yosemite which was good value ($24 for 4 of us). Plenty of food options in town from basic to better quality.

Review 78:Room adjoined kitchen belonging to other room. Lack of ventilation meant that on our second night we were sleeping in what smelt like the middle of a fish restaurant. Could not connect to Wifi for most of stay. This has nothing to do with being in a small town as it worked in a nearby bar. Mom and pop operation but with owners never there to troubleshoot. Instead they stick an employee there for a few hours a day whose job is to say she can't assist us.

Review 79:Appearance is very nice - lovely building just off main street. Opposite very good Mexican restaurant and near nice bars, stores.

Review 80:If going to the area is for Yosemite, it's quite a drive. Shops around the area is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Review 81:I love that it has a kitchen, though not used a lot. Bathroom is of decent size and clean. Temp works good, and not noisy which is really good. Restaurants are within walking distance.

Review 82:Basement room so could hear the upstairs neighbours. Card was charged for room rate before we arrived... Would have liked to pay cash instead but too late!

Review 83:Huge room with all the amenities anyone could ever need!!!! Very close to Mariposa Center... Short walk to most restaurants - try the Happy Burger Diner: great experience!!!!

Review 84:Very convenient, clean, nice looking suit for 6 persons. Less than hour and half from Yosemite park. The road to the park from Mariposa is lovely. Mariposa people are very nice and welcoming for tourists.

Review 85:We stayed in the bridalveil suite and it exceeded our expectations.. We loved it, the room was clean, comfortable and the location was great to explore Mariposa

Review 86:Of the 11 different motel/hotels that we stayed in on our 27 day road trip this is the only really negative experience that we had. Our room was on the bottom floor adjacent to the small registration office (left side facing the bldg.). We could hear full conversation as people checked in until 9:30 pm. Then the visitors talked in front of the room even longer. We think that booking.com clients got this worst room!

Review 87:Bed, clean facilities, charming building

Review 88:Strange experience, checking in and out without ever meeting anyone (all done through a phone). Not necessarily bad, just strange.

Review 89:Nice and quiet, and close to the "city centre".

Review 90:I didn't see one staff member the whole time. I would have loved to have had someone there to help guide us around town. Also, I wasn't able to change my credit card that was charged.

Review 91:Mariposa is a very quaint community with very little options. I loved the way this place was easy to access and within walking distance from "down town"

Review 92:Quaint building with clean and modern interior, and a very comfortable bed. Great location within walking distance to excellent restaurants and pubs/breweries (Mariposa is a great little town). Incredible value for the price.

Review 93:we booked a deluxe suite at a very reasonable rate and were very impressed by the room. It was spectacular, with scenic views of the forest, fully equipped kitchen and a fireplace. Very clean and cozy.

Review 94:Abruptness and unwelcoming attitude of the housekeeping staff member who visited our room.

Review 95:Check in process was very easy, even with no reception on site. Owners of the Inn are very kind and welcoming. The housekeeping staff less so. Overall the room was clean and well kept with the exception of the large amount of dust in and around the whirlpool tub.

Review 96:It was not a problem for us, but check in is by phone - no personnel on the premises.

Review 97:Many different room configurations for a variety of needs; quiet place to sleep right in the heart of town, walkable to shops and restaurants. Extremely low price for proximity to Yosemite, and nice to anchor our stay in town rather than limited National Park shopping/eating options.

Review 98:would have been good to know ahead of time that the office is not staffed --we had to stand outside and call on a phone to get room codes (pad locks on doors instead of keys)

Review 99:All rooms were different so our large family had lots of choices; kitchens and fireplaces in some rooms add comfort and value--we had fun places to convene as a group; location is very central to downtown--everything within short walking distance; great internet connection

Review 100:Like previous reviews, walls are very thin and you can hear people having conversations at a normal tone. Layout of room was awkward with spa tub in middle of room in front of front door.

Review 101:We stayed there while visiting family. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable.

Review 102:I convinced myself it was haunted because the building looks old. It isn't, well at least I don't think it is

Review 103:I loved the building and the check in process was very convenient too. Close enough to lots of restaurants and easy to get to Yosemite. Rooms was clean and comfortable and quiet too.

Review 104:Mariposa is quite far from Yosemite National Park (around 70 km - just 1 go). Payment was done via credit card before our arrival. Not being possible to pay in cash.

Review 105:Excellent hotel. Rooms with plenty of space, very confortable and clean. Mariposa is a lovely city with lots of nice restaurants, shops, bakery, gas station and supermarket.

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:Good location. Close to the National Park. Mariposa is a friendly small town with lots of restaurants and pubs. The B&B was comfortable and clean and the owner most helpful.

Review 108:+ in Mariposa + big room with equipped kitchen + very clean + Wi-Fi works well + we could reach the staff only at the phone, but got all the information and help needed

Review 109:Cramped room Housekeeping poor not vacuumed daily Curtains let in light and fan light over door No proper reception

Review 110:Good location On arrival lucky enough of see staff member and tell her about broken kettle. She promptly replaced with a new one. This was high lite of our stay

Review 111:We had no complaints. Would return again.

Review 112:The location is great. Close to the park. Mariposa is a great little city. Everything was within walking distance. The room was very spacious and loved coming home to the jacuzzi after a long day of hiking. The pizza place down the street had great pizzas and pitchers of beer.

Review 113:We had issues with check in, the toilet clogged and there wasn't enough hot water, but I think these were isolated incidents. And I'm sure they were taken care of.

Review 114:The bed is super comfy, the staff is nice, jacuzzi big.

Review 115:Little bit of early am street noise from delivery trucks etc. No cork screw in the kitchen, had to push wine cork in!!

Review 116:After a few hotel room on our trip we liked having some outside space and air and to be able to go to the super market and cook our own tea in our own time. The hotel was a bit pricey but as we could eat in for two nights it all averaged out ok.

Review 117:Nothing really. It's about an hours drive to Yosemite, but it's much cheaper than the accomodations closer to yosemite and it's a beautiful drive.

Review 118:The Inn is clean, wifi is fast and there is a great restaurant around the corner and a diner with amazing blueberry scones and the best service.

Review 119:Room 205 at the back of the building was a bit dark and also the AC units were right outside the window making it a bit noisy during the night to sleep.

Review 120:Close proximity to local restaurants and cafés in Mariposa. Clean and tidy with a great spa bath. Check in and out very easy and hassle free. Parking right out front and free wifi welcome additions. 45 min to 1 hr drive to Yosemite Arch entrance.

Review 121:If your destination is Yosemite, it's a great place to stay; otherwise, there isn't much to do in Mariposa. In fact, the drive there might take you through a spooky area.

Review 122:Everything about the inn was good. It was clean, comfortable and safe. I particularly like the check in code, which made it possible to check in late easily. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. Everything you might need is available.

Review 123:The room needed a good dust with spiders in cobwebs in the high ceilings. My daughter hates spiders so it was an issue for our stay. Also rooms have keypad entry so we didn't see a staff member during our overnight stay which detracts from the experience a little.

Review 124:Property was in an ideal location after a day in Yosemite, before heading onto San Francisco. Room was spacious and well equipped and the property was very pretty and picturesque.

Review 125:Connecting room, could hear other occupants.

Review 126:Close to everything, standard of room. Everyone we met was freindly, especially Bob on the Gloden Coin and his excellent staff. Loved theoutdoor concert and the quaint town.

Review 127:Thin walls, we could hear the neighbors hot-tub in the early morning quite loud.

Review 128:Nice large room with hot-tubs, great bed, called by staff for late check-in and given room password over text messaging. Location was great, diners in walking distance. Yosemite 1 hour away. All in all a very coasy place if you can afford it.

Review 129:There's not enough parking space for all the costumers. Not enough soundproofing, we could hear too much our neighbours.

Review 130:Hydromassage. Confortable and spacious bed.

Review 131:The only downside was that the walls are really thin and you could hear everything in the apartment next door.

Review 132:Loved the look of the building from outside. Room very big with comfy four poster bed and a jacuzzi bath. Great location. Clean and comfy. The town had real character and this was a really good base for visiting Yosemite.

Review 133:Fitted our needs exactly. Well priced, no keys, parking, close to Yosemite, quant, clean.
