Reviews for Boulder Twin Lakes Inn

Review 1:Boulder Twin Lakes creates an environment of comfort and community. It's a wonderful combination of respect, space and service that sets it apart.

Review 2:Nothing...really can hardly wait to get back again! Thank you!

Review 3:The kicked back atmosphere, the friendly staff, the room configuration and that there is so much to do in the area. We were able to pack lunches to take with us skiing, go for walks on the walking path, visit Boulder and Denver all within a convenient drive!

Review 4:On a college visit with daughter. Close to Boulder and much cheaper than other options. Close to stores. Big room with kitchen and dishes etc so good for a longer stay. Breakfast was good - very typical

Review 5:I found a small blood stain on one of the pillows which was kind of a turn off. I wish someone had been on staff just to feel a little safer. I arrived before my boyfriend and was a little scared being there alone. However I totally understand why no one was on staff. The key in envelope system works just fine!

Review 6:It was spacious for all the amenities that were in the room.

Review 7:The doors shut with a shotgun explosion if you did not ease them closed. The doors across the hall were Lined up with our door so I heard everything when the neighbors left at 5 am

Review 8:Neil was extremely helpful and accommodating to the needs of our family. The facility was in general very quiet and the room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 9:I think there was wifi, but I didn't know the password, and I couldn't find the desk manager to get the password.

Review 10:It is located right next to a nice park with some ponds that were fun to walk around early in the morning.

Review 11:No welcome. Room key in envelope upon arrival. Is that safe? Computer in lobby very slow. No toner in printer. Breakfast just o.k. nothing special.

Review 12:Close to my son's apartment in Gunbarrel. Clean.

Review 13:Need better reading lights. Rather spartan furnishings but that's not a negative.

Review 14:Well-located outside Boulder with easy access on 119. Nice walking paths around Twin Lakes but also within walking/biking distance of shopping, dining, breweries. Scrupulously clean.

Review 15:The hot tub was dirty and unusable. The bikes were unuseable. Those were both big selling points for us when we saw them online.

Review 16:It was very clean and very quiet. The staff was always very helpful. We really liked it

Review 17:This is NOT a high end, expensive, new hotel but my wife and I enjoyed it a great deal. I ran a marathon at the reservoir just a few miles away and signed up at the last minute so the inn was perfect. The staff, the owners (Olympic runners!), the room (included a kitchenette with microwave and sofa), and amenities were all fine.

Review 18:The property is dark and dingy. My room had a particularly bad odor. The carpet was gross. In the morning, my sinks were full of water. I could also easily hear my neighbor's TV and talking. The sinks were outside the bathroom. I would not stay again.

Review 19:Its close proximity to my friend.

Review 20:Had no idea it was so far away from Boulder and it had an "office complex" feel. Odd layout. Fine for hikers hoping to be able to cook and easily do laundry, but we thought it was a regular "hotel." We were disappointed it was so far away from downtown Boulder. No one at the desk when we arrived; just our key in an envelope. More like a B & B type property.

Review 21:The room was clean and the area surrounding property was quiet.

Review 22:Spiders and noises in wall/ceiling. May have been outside or upstairs, not sure. Room 109 was like a dungeon. Lots of space and comfortable but dark/dreary.

Review 23:Away from it all.

Review 24:Dead zone when it came to cell phones. Kitchen sink was right next to bathroom sink. Ew! Carpet was stained.

Review 25:Lovely, quiet location. Clean and comfortable room. Very close to Celestial Seasonings tea company; great tour!

Review 26:Sheets were rough and even scratchy. Pillows were flimsy. it was also a bit noisy the second night.

Review 27:Decent location, average price, availability of kitchen.

Review 28:Rooms and furniture outdated. Also on the day of our arrival, they called us and told us they were overbooked and we didn't have a room anymore. We had booked 5 weeks ahead! And why wait to call us on the day of our arrival??

Review 29:It was clean but the furniture and rooms are horribly outdated for the money.

Review 30:We never saw the staff (check in or check out). We needed to ask some questions, and waited in the lobby for a long time. Couldn't reach the front desk person with the phone they provided. Location was nice for it's beautiful neighborhood, but had to take a 20 minute bus ride every time into town.

Review 31:I liked the spacious room with kitchen amenities. I also liked that they included a breakfast.

Review 32:Room 'window' overlooked a communal area with jacuzzi. Therefore no privacy if blinds open. Had to have lights on during daylight hours. Not sure about health and safety of plug sockets over kitchen sink area which use was also for hand washing, teeth rushing as no sink in bathroom

Review 33:Friendliness of staff. Comfortable beds. Plenty of information about local area

Review 34:The furniture in the room was very old

Review 35:Very friendly staff, room was very clean, thought obviously the hotel and furniture is very old. Overall the price and location are very good

Review 36:Key that was left for me didn't work. Had to get a key out of a lock box every time I wanted to get into my room. Wanted to use hot tub but it was scummy and gross. Sinks were clogged and the water would back up from one to another.

Review 37:Cellular was not available but WiFi is and is free - so set your phone accordingly for service. When checking in, there is a basket with an envelope with your name on it that contains everything you need. I didn't know to look for this and so waited for 15 minutes for someone to show up at the desk. They didn't. Then I saw the basket. They can do a better job informing guests about this before arrival.

Review 38:Location. It's quiet and there's a nice walking path just outside the front door. The building is an old apartment building that has been converted to a hotel. The room was large and had everything that I needed - all of which was clean in good repair. The breakfast was adequate - toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, beverages. The proprietor (there in the morning) was friendly.

Review 39:I didn't mind having to share a kitchen with the other guests but it was very frustrating that the other guests were slobs and couldn't clean up after themselves.

Review 40:I liked how welcoming and friendly the owners were. Was one of my best room rental experiences from that standpoint.

Review 41:It seemed to be an old bed and breakfast of sorts and no employee was seen, maybe a guy at breakfast including check in and out.

Review 42:It was very quiet and peaceful.

Review 43:We thought we were getting a king bed room...walked in to two queen beds? Turned out all the "deluxe studios" have queens only - wish I had known this sooner as this was a birthday/romantic getaway and it kind of ruined the whole night. We ended up sleeping in separate beds half the night. The room was quite stuffy, so we opened a window - meaning we got to especially enjoy the trains passing right by, drunks shouting, and street racing. My girlfriend has back problems, and since sleeping on the bed here has had pain so bad we are going to the doctor. The walls also shook/creaked pretty badly in the wind - obviously not as much in control of the management, but it was just another thing to keep us up all night and wishing we had spent a little more elsewhere.

Review 44:I guess it's probably a "good value" for the money - if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to the more expensive stuff in Boulder. For our circumstance (a splurge/getaway weekend) it was definitely not the right choice. If you're just traveling and need a place to stay, then sure, it's a good deal. Can't comment on breakfast/anything else because we didn't stick around for it.

Review 45:the only sad thing is that it was an overnight trip and we couldn't stay longer.

Review 46:we had a wonderful stay they actually made accommodations for six of us with two queens and a pullout bed our room still was spacious had a kitchen and plenty of room. they had a great library for the kids and a playground when we woke up to snow the kids got to play in the snow. they had a great breakfast with lots of variety and the blankets on the bed were the most comfortable ever. check in and check out we're both smooth and seamless.

Review 47:the carpets were stained the furniture looked cheap and worn out , the kitchen had no stove top and the linoleum was curling up in the bathroom

Review 48:Nice to have a mini kitchen, water was hot!

Review 49:No complaints.

Review 50:Cute little place tucked away in Gunbarrel. Quiet. Older property but clean and pretty well maintained. I never knew it was there and I've lived here more than a few years. I was happy to find it. A little unusual check in procedure, but OK. Good deal for the price.

Review 51:The inn is a bit distant from anything else.

Review 52:Here is a good, clean, comfortable room in a nice, safe atmosphere with good internet, in-room frig and microwave, and a good price. The park-like environment is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. Breakfast is simple and adequate.

Review 53:The door closing were loud. Need to put dampening material in the closures so you don't hear the door closings.

Review 54:The bed was very comfortable. The room was large. The inn was nice and quiet.

Review 55:Not much I didn't like, except one day I allowed maid service I had specifically made my own bed and folded my towels planning for re-use to save water resources as requested. Was disappointed to find it all replaced. Other than cosmetic updates needed with old cabinets, the stay was perfect!

Review 56:Quiet, comfortable, laid-back. Loved the kitchen access and having a hot-tub. Hard-boiled eggs for breakfast every morning was perfect. Coffee was excellent. Staff was friendly and unassuming. I actually liked not having someone at the desk hovering 24-7; not feeling watched constantly was nice.

Review 57:Tiny bathroom and space to primp. Thought there was running trail and expected a lake. Property is in middle of residential area.

Review 58:Beds were comfortable.

Review 59:I didn't know what to expect from this in but it turned out to be very comfortable. The room was extremely spacious... More than I was used to at any other hotel. You can usually catch the staff sometime in the morning between 7 & 1. They were extremely helpful. Breakfast was very nicely organized and provided plenty of food I felt like I got more than what I paid for there. Would 100% go back!

Review 60:Seemed a bit strange to not see anyone when we checked in but all was OK. There was a phone number to call if we needed to....

Review 61:In a nice neighborhood away from shops, etc. Ordered and picked up pizza for dinner that was very good! Check in was different as all information, including room key, was just in an envelope at the desk. Very informal Breakfast was limited but very good.

Review 62:Noise from other rooms excessive. Carpet in very poor shape. bed squeaky, Inn keeper not present most of the time. Breakfast minimal. Sometimes my room not cleaned before 4pm. once bed made, no changed towels.

Review 63:The location was perfect.

Review 64:Wi-Fi would keep knocking you off or never would connect only sometimes! Carpets need cleaned or replaced but then your prices would raise to! The cart for bringing in our luggage was broke. Ants in the BR in room 109 but not our room 115. Over all its a 10 for us and we will be back as soon as I can save for another Colorado vacation. Hope your rates never go up but I guess the summer rates do! Could boil more than 1 dozen eggs for the breakfast too. Lol, your beds are comfortable and loved the comforters and pillows! Hotel people are very friendly and sweet people.

Review 65:Clean and comfortable beds. Hot showers with great water pressure. Maid service daily. Breakfast was great to! Laundry services on site. Location was wonderful and close to eating places.

Review 66:My television set did not ever work. I called the staff person 5x. He said he would help me but..never did. I also pre-requested to rent a bicycle for exercise. You did not have one available for me and I was very upset about that because I did not bring mine...I liked everything else:-)

Review 67:spacious homey atmosphere, Friendly, fun meeting others. Good parking. excellent amenities such as extra tea & supplies in downstairs cupboard, the self-serve option I loved; as well as the books to read. I loved the room that was personally reserved for me very much! thank you for that:-) Breakfast coffee was weak. The person attending this event was Excellent every day, though.

Review 68:Guess we are not used to having to pick up a phone in order to find the manager, who seemed a little 'distant'. It was a little strange to have the 'bathroom' sink located in the "kitchen-like" area, but manageable.

Review 69:The location was quiet & it was close to my daugher's home. It was in the middle of a residential area with a park-like setting. The room had a strange lay-out, but served our purpose of a good night's sleep.

Review 70:Room was so large and really comfortable. We didn't need the kitchen but it's always a big plus to be able to make a cup of coffee in the morning so that was nice. The owner/manager was in the kitchen and making sure all was kept organized and clean. He was friendly and welcoming - all in all, I definitely recommend this as a great option to the more pricey "boxes" in town.

Review 71:My sister and I did a week trip all over Colorado and decided boulder twin lakes was our favorite hotel. It was like a home more than a hotel. Very relaxing and comfortable. The location was great with the walking paths. Overall a nice place to stay.

Review 72:Weird location - in the middle of a residential neighborhood, far from everything and no real amenities. The manager is not very friendly. Warning-if you reserve on a 3rd party site-good luck trying to cancel. Most hotels have cancellation policy thru day of arrival-not so with this place. Probably bc everyone would cancel after seeing where it is located. This place looks like it used to be a house that has been converted to what it is now. If you are looking for a hostel type feel, then by all means, book it.

Review 73:Needs to updated. The carpet was stained and the wall in the bathroom was patched but not painted. Walls were thin ( could hear neighbor talking ect. ).

Review 74:Large room, clean, friendly staff, and price.

Review 75:The room was huge. The only thing missing was a stove. My room had two double beds a couch and a table. It even had a few dishes if I wished. The front desk was very helpful.

Review 76:Very nice place. Owners were very nice. Place is perfect for Athletes of all kinds. My boyfriend and I stayed to do Ironman Boulder Peak and we were allowed the much needed rest for the race. Has kitchens and great location. We will definitely stay again when we are in Boulder again. Recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

Review 77:Where we were located in the hotel it was difficult to get wifi. Although, the innkeeper did offer to change our room so we could access it if we wanted to move. We stayed in our original room.

Review 78:The large, spacious room was great for relaxing after a long day.

Review 79:The bikes did not work and they did not have extra towels. The hot tub was not hot and it was dirty. We missed out on stuff we wanted.

Review 80:Room wa fine and breakfast was ok.

Review 81:Simple accommodations, good bed, very quiet, decent breakfast (not fancy), and interesting place. NO elevator so ask for first floor if stairs an issue. I will stay there again.

Review 82:Liked everything, but they might want to update a few decor items soon such as hall carpeting. Otherwise this place is great.

Review 83:Compared with other places we've stayed in the Boulder area, Twin Lakes Inn is an excellent value. It's a small inn in a quiet neighborhood with lovely walking/biking trails (near 2 lakes as the name implies!). The continental breakfast is included. While not "gourmet", it is more than adequate. Our room was spacious with many amenities. The decor could use a bit of updating, but that is no big deal unless you're super fussy. Staff is friendly and casual yet efficient. We didn't use their hot tub, so can't say anything about that. The surrounding grounds are lovely. There's a nice gazebo with a grill that guests can use. We had an enjoyable week at Twin Lakes. Would go back again.

Review 84:It's a bit old-fashioned, and some of the rooms look inwards instead of out onto greenery, but was perfectly comfortable and had everything I needed; I think it's a great place and would certainly stay again and recommend to others.

Review 85:I liked everything about it - the nice and helpful staff, the good and healthy breakfast, the comfortable room with a fridge and microwave, free access to bikes (a great option for the nearby scenic lakes and hundreds of miles of biking/walking trails nearby), a hot tub, free internet and wifi, laundry and computer facilities, an outdoor grill, nice playground and gardens and green areas, quiet residential neighborhood, and I enjoyed the decoration of photographs of the Olympic and Marathon runner winners. I understand it's growing to be a center for marathons / triathlons since it's owned by Olympians. It's about 5 minutes by car from the main part of Boulder. I'd definitely recommend it. It's a great price deal too!

Review 86:The room was great, roomy, beds comfortable, quiet. Fabulous place to stay with dogs--friendly, accommodating and good walking nearby.

Review 87:Nothing at all.

Review 88:The staff is very nice. It like a b and b.

Review 89:The hot tub had some kind of debris in bottom. Did not feel comfortable using

Review 90:Breakfast was a bit lacking

Review 91:The people were wonderful and so much more personal than traditional hotels.

Review 92:It was pretty old and seedy overall.

Review 93:Location near Boulder for $80 was ok, but overpriced

Review 94:Too remote from city center; awkward installations.

Review 95:Friendly staff.

Review 96:The shower was hard to turn on and leaked

Review 97:Perfect for what I needed

Review 98:No "Inn keeper" during normal business hours.

Review 99:Simple breakfast but satisfied.

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:Very accommodating, very friendly excellent beds. Excellent breakfast including Overall very good value for money

Review 102:Tiny breakfast selection

Review 103:Location, setting, staff

Review 104:Everything!

Review 105:jacuzzi very dirty

Review 106:clean,friendly,nice quiet location

Review 107:Nothing really. Odd theme about the place (running).

Review 108:Quiet location, keys waiting for easy light night check in, very affordable for the area.

Review 109:The location, while technically in Boulder, is really quite far from town. Breakfast mostly sugary stuff.

Review 110:Good customer service.

Review 111:Room was dated in style and appearance; however very utilitarian and practical

Review 112:Location convenient for purposes.

Review 113:Lovely location near to lakes - good for walking, running, etc. Nice room with kitchen facilities.

Review 114:Breakfast was boring. Needed more creative touches, variety.

Review 115:Staff very nice, helpful and kind.

Review 116:A peaceful, clean and easy accessible place. Thank you

Review 117:Carpeting needs to be cleaned or replaced--things are a bit "tired."

Review 118:Great location--quiet neighborhood--close to our family.

Review 119:Never saw any staff, it was all done with notes and a phone . It was very impersonal.

Review 120:Location

Review 121:Run down, this is a $70.00 a night hotel

Review 122:Very little

Review 123:I thought some of the property was looking a little tired and needed some updating

Review 124:Access to Boulder Reservior. Local feel. Good old fashioned hospitality.

Review 125:the bath room sink was in the kitchen? the hot tub needs to go or keep it clean

Review 126:quit

Review 127:very clean, effecient.

Review 128:price-value-ratio rooms are somewhat outdated (while very clean though) breakfast room and selection

Review 129:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 130:Absolutely the best value and such an incredible location!
