Reviews for Mother Lode Lodge
Review 1:Bathroom extremely small, but I'm quite large, so it's no fault of theirs. No land line phones, and being Mariposa, if your cell isn't on AT&T towers, your reception is about non existent. They do have a guest phone, but I did not use it because I had an AT&T cell phone from previous experience with Yosemite region cell reception.
Review 2:Amazing staff. Very patient with my kids with special needs, and my disabilities. Strong Wi-Fi, couple hundred cable channels, coffee, fridge, microwave. Staff was a sweet family business, very polite, with even the kids pitching in to work. Cute property.
Review 3:One bed was wet from leaking roof in room 11, had to flip mattress and borrow sheets from another motel for the night because staff wasn't around. Also asked for extra towels and toilet paper and was told we'd get it but never did. Heater in room 11 extremely noisy, bathroom fan inoperative, 2 light bulbs burned out. Staffing was sporadic and they never returned phone messages.
Review 4:They gave us another room for the people whose bed was under the leaky roof at same price.
Review 5:the staff's change in business hours to accommodate the holiday. they allowed us to check in 3 hours early as everything was closing for thanksgiving dinner and the room was ready promptly
Review 6:the pool was cold! due to cold mountain water going through the pool guess all accommodation is simply more expensive in the area due to proximity of Yosemites
Review 7:private, quiet place Mariposa is a nice town
Review 8:I cannot say anything bad. Everything was great!
Review 9:A very nice hotel with great staff. They were helpful and kind all the time, we had such a great time there.
Review 10:The room looked very tired and a bit grimy in need of a freshen up. The room must have been a shop because on two sides large windows looked straight onto the street so we had to keep the curtains shut. There was no tea or coffee available with the tea and coffee making facilities. The pool didn't look that clean.
Review 11:Good central location with a very large family room.
Review 12:This is an example where if the owners read people's reviews it would just be better. 1. Don't use white thin curtains they let in all the light and wake you up at 5am . This has already been said by another person 2. Your prices are a bit steep for low quality accomodation. 3. Get rid of the horrible carpets and just get wooden floor or tiles horrible. 4. The bathroom. Again just tile it. All the stains etc are horrible. Our room seemed as if there had been a flood or something 5. The pool area needs a paint job and some sun loungers. At the moment it has a bench ? After a swim I don't want to sit on a bench. If the above 5 things were sorted I reckon this would be a wonderful property.
Review 13:The location is about 1 hour from yosemite. The town of mariposa is brilliant. Fantastic restaurants and bars etc. Real nice feel. This motel does the job as a last resort and the price was low compared to others but I would not stay again unless everywhere else was fully booked. Has a pool
Review 14:The hot and cold water supply was but a trickle to the wash basin and there was no plug/stopper. The shower was OK though.
Review 15:Quietness of the offset accokodation, ease of access to the pool.
Review 16:Place too old, uncomfortable sofa, bed. Ugly old carpet, not very clean, disgusting curtains, Small shower, poor quality shampoo and tiny soap bars. Paid too much for the poor quality. Will never stay at that hotel again.
Review 17:Location
Review 18:The air conditioner was not adequate, the shower pan had a large crack in it, the entry door didn't have a secondary lock and had large gaps on 3 sides. Just needs some maintenance.
Review 19:Quite, clean, comfortable, good location.
Review 20:Bathroom was extremely small! Room was also small - you could walkaround the bed. Table for coffee maker was wobbly! Door didn't fittight - we fixed it. For $110/night I expect a little more. Thiswhole town was pricey!
Review 21:The bed was comfy. Air conditioner worked well. Ice machine was handyand had ice cubes that were frozen through!
Review 22:There was no toilet paper in the room and no staff on duty to contact and no stores open to get any. The air conditioner remote would not work and the staff set it up manually. The sink had a bad crack in it. The table in the room had a broken leg and you could not lean in it at all. The bed was harder than I am used to but we adapted.
Review 23:That we were able to get a room this close to the park on short notice
Review 24:if you like stained carpets, and everything old, OK, but we want clean and a feeling of being happy with the price. this motel is old, and in need of much repair.
Review 25:nothing
Review 26:cramped quarters, shower was very small, the air conditioner was very loud. it was a little further from Yosemite N.P. than we anticipated.
Review 27:Clean room every time we came back, very helpful.
Review 28:Dirty carpet, old smelly bedspread, broke down bathroom, wires hanging from wall for TV , lumpy mattress, sun came in room early as just a regular curtain and not a blackout curtain facing an east window,
Review 29:There was nothing we liked
Review 30:near Yosemite Cute little town with nice restaurant and diner across the road Clean room Great value for the money we paid Very accomodating as we lost our wallet and creditcards but we were able to check-in anyways and pay cash
Review 31:Shabby decor and no phone to call front desk and nothing for handicapped, not even a grab bar in the bathroom. All rooms have steps not noted when I'd requested a handicapped room.Shabby
Review 32:The room was clean and quiet. The managers very pleasant.
Review 33:Gave wrong room key... Walked in on other patrons... Had to find other hotel in middle of night.. Then argued about it with us the next day... Terrible experience
Review 34:The configuration of the grounds is odd. The reception is at the top of a hill and rooms and parking at the bottom. Staff as often not at reception. The pillow s are lumpy and the bathroom very small and hard to navigate. Although the rooms are clean, the furniture is old and rickety.
Review 35:The rooms are clean and the staff friendly. For the price we paid ($79) it worked for us for one night.
Review 36:Parking was very tight. You had to be pretty good at parking, especiallywith a long vehicle. Forget about parking an eight-foot trailer hookedonto the back of a pickup. Had to park it on the street. Could not seeit from the motel room because the motel is down in a very low spot fromthe street. Worried me about the possibility of getting robbed. Also, don't lock yourself out. You are sol until 10 in the morning. Theoffice is not opened all night
Review 37:Place was clean people were nice
Review 38:Air conditioner didn't work, but wasn't needed. Pool is constantly closed.
Review 39:Spacious and clean room. Fridge and microwave. Location. Friendly staff.
Review 40:Free wifi didn't work the 1st night and was weak. The doors need upgraded locks, it didn't feel secure. The lamp between the beds had a broken switch and didn't work.
Review 41:The room was clean. Having the futon meant the kids didn't have to share a bed. The fridge and microwave were good to have so I could bring gluten free food for my son. Not bad for the cheapest rate in town.
Review 42:we had the family room which was a really big room (that was nice) but it is on the street side so could hear traffic and the out side lights could be seen through the curtains. Luckily, it is a sleepy town so was not a lot of traffic all night. While we were walking we saw a police car watching the traffic go through the town. Like I said, it was a nice town.
Review 43:loved the location. We walked to everywhere we wanted to go. Mariposa isn't really big but it has a lot of stores and restraunts and all with in walking distance.
Review 44:The Bed was comfortable enough but the blankets almost defied classification as such. Some sort of foam rubber thermal layer which felt dreadful against the skin and the duvet was sort of like a giant tea cozy that had been stretched to fit a queen size bed. I would stay here again but I'd bring my own blanket.
Review 45:Frogs chorusing all night outside the window. Price was great... about as much as a state park camp site and right downtown.
Review 46:Fixtures need a major upgrade. The shower hadno showerhead and myhusband had to fix it before it even worked. The toilet was rickety and the pots and pans in the kitchen were despecable. Its ok to not provide any utensils at all but to mark the room as being equpiiedwith a kitchennete only to find pans with coating peeling is just horrendous
Review 47:The place was clean
Review 48:All the facilities of the room are a bit old and not really goodlooking, but clean. Moquette is everywhere, as always in the USA. I asked for a early check-in, then confirmed by the lodge, but the office was closed and I had to wait two hours. Not too bad, I had a very nice lunch in the meantime.
Review 49:Comfortable bed, easy and safe parking, strategic location for Yosemite, close to many affordable shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Great value for money, in an amazing peculiar village.
Review 50:Not cleaned every day, extremely small bathroom, loud heater, no hair dryer (a big issue in winter!!!), odd foam that is not very comfy instead of sheets, no laundry facilities, the bed was uneven and not comfortable... That is just the beginning. Better pay $10 more and go to Travellodge or similar, they're also cheap but have some basic standards and a simple breakfast included.
Review 51:Fairly close to Yosemite (1h drve to the park valley). Central in Mariposa.
Review 52:Mariposa ir nice little village with the historical touch. Hotel is in the center of the village. From Mariposa you can reach Yosemiti National Park in 1 hour.
Review 53:Shower stall floor old that would be a hazard for a heavy person. 40 miles+ to Yosemite. Hard to drive when dark.
Review 54:Price good, rooms off main street, quiet, good restaurants close by, staff very nice, rooms clean. Good value for the money. Not for the person who wants up to date accommodations. Bus to Yosemite, and about $5 each way for seniors. Only goes to lower valley.
Review 55:I like different, cute places when I am on a road trip. It's a cute, old-school road trip motel. I thought it was adorable. The room was just your basic motel room, clean and comfortable--no frills. It is right in the middle of town, so we walked right to souvenir shops and restaurants.
Review 56:all was good
Review 57:Location and the affordability. The office staff and also the housekeeping staff were all very helpful when I had a problem with my credit card access
Review 58:All good.
Review 59:Spotlessly clean. Middle of town. Easy parking. We checked in really late. Lovely lady on reception. Good microwave and fridge. Comfy beds. Good location to get on the road to the national park.
Review 60:Arrived 12.30 pm. Office closed till 1pm. Ii booked. 6weeks before called 1week before up grade to suite, friend added. Went to festival. Came back 7.30 and my room was given away... Note that exp date wrong. More $$ to others than booking.com. 3 of us had place to stay. Town full. No phone call no e mail
Review 61:NOTHING
Review 62:The room was very quiet and clean. I had no issues with this lodging and actually spent more time in this room than usual because it was a pleasant space. I look for basic lodging-bed, bath, fridge, micro--this had a little TV too. There's a coffee place next door and the supermarket not too far. Parking is a little tricky but adequate.
Review 63:The pool was closed by the health department, but the receptionist said it was okay to take a swim in it because they had fixed it, but the inspector had not come by yet to withdraw the termination... We did not even go near the pool. And the apartment we got had probably not been leased for a while; cockroaches, dead flies and spiders all over... The sheets were stained and not very smooth. They also had holes in them. Some of us even slept in the car. Luckily we have a large SUV and were only staying for one night...
Review 64:Even if it was August, the heat was on when we arrived instead of the air conditioning. The room was like a sauna and even if we changed and switched on the air conditioning it has been very difficult to sleep. The air conditioning is very very noisy!
Review 65:good location to enter the Yosemite Mariposa is a nice location with a lot of restaurants to choose
Review 66:- Door to main street additional to main door - door to staff, could not be blocked inside - unclean carpet - bathroom has bad ground / scruffy - only 2 channel on TV - 10 a.m. check out never seen again in a 4 week vacation - Wifi does not work anywhere there
Review 67:large room
Review 68:Never seen such a 'hole': old furniture (partly damaged), bad air-condition (only in the sitting room for the whole appartement; ventilators in the bedrooms stopped turning after lights were switched off); ants nearly everywhere, especially in the bathroom - at the end of our visit even in our luggage! The worst were the cover sheets made of latex (or comparable material): simply disgusting!
Review 69:We booked the 3BR appartment for around 385 USD (for 2 nights). Mariposa is located near Yosemite NP (which is, however, still one hour's drive away). There was no other vacant accomodation at this time.
Review 70:We really enjoyed our stay at Mother Lode Lodge. We arrived very late but the staff were very kind and we got our rooms. Very spacy and comfortable rooms. We wished that we stayed longer than just one night. Perfekt location if you are visiting Yosemite, scenic route to the park from Mariposa.
Review 71:Very dated and shabby. Extremely expensive living off the location of nearness to Yosemite. Parking is on a steep slope if you arrive late. 1st room offered looked straight on to street without a blind./curtain. Room declined and we were offered an alternative immediately which was acceptable. Reception resembles that of a cheap takeaway. AC did not work properly
Review 72:Nothing in particular
Review 73:Very dated facilities and unit badly in need of serious renovation/maintenance. It is an older facility that has not been kept up and yet they are charging rates that don't reflect the facility. We have stayed at others for one third of the price with five times the facilities. Bathroom issues - too much to detail here. Not acceptable.
Review 74:Poor water pressure Hot water was intermintant Wi-Fi didn't work no soap or shampoo refrigerator didn't cool air conditioner didn't work
Review 75:The location
Review 76:Close to YARTS shuttle bus to Yosemite, about 2hours bus ride.
Review 77:Good price for nice quite place with outdoor pool
Review 78:Small bathroom/shower, but for one night it was not bad...would definitely stay again.
Review 79:The toilette got blocked on the first day
Review 80:Good WIFI
Review 81:Was really cold. Heater didn't work at all
Review 82:Availability of staff.
Review 83:Price, size of unit.
Review 84:animal clawing at the wall /rooftop at 5am outside of room
Review 85:location - right on the 140 and close to restaurants. friendly staff.
Review 86:Seems that the window in one bedroom could not be closed tightly
Review 87:Pretty clean
Review 88:Shower curtain issues unit 7 very small bathroom
Review 89:Nice location. Nice clean room
Review 90:Bad cleaning of the all room and too expensive for the quality
Review 91:No breakfast
Review 92:It's ok for family travel, nice price
Review 93:A bit worn-out look
Review 94:Great location, Value for moey
Review 95:Little home unit so good for cooking or small family. It was hot when we stayed, owner put aircon on for us while we were out- very considerate
Review 96:The room was not clean. The bathroom was in really bad conditions.
Review 97:We liked the position.
Review 98:The room smelled like cigarettes. Expensive motel (like all other motels near Yosemite)
Review 99:Very good place to eat in town: 1850
Review 100:Staff were very friendly
Review 101:Booking for nine people and only seven beds available, not good enough for the three room apartment as numbers had been notified.
Review 102:Good location
Review 103:Old rooms, low pressure shower, high room rates....
Review 104:Nice staff.....
Review 105:Air - con couldn't keep up . It was very warm. There was very basic things in the kitchen
Review 106:Good sized room
Review 107:Tiny bathroom. Like the rustic feel. Microwave & fridge definite added bonus!
Review 108:Great location - easy walk into the cute little town!!!
Review 109:Comfortable, clean, quiet, very friendly staff, good-sized pool, good restaurants nearby. In-room microwave and Wi-Fi a plus.
Review 110:no breakfast, near there is no supermarket
Review 111:friendly staff , clean rooms
Review 112:The air conditioner.
Review 113:Parking space is limited.
Review 114:Proximity to Yosemite and quaint town setting
Review 115:The shower did not work properly
Review 116:simple motel with super friendly service. Good location in the middle of town. I would definitely recommend this place
Review 117:None

Review 119:sweet and welcoming staff
Review 120:The pool was closed
Review 121:Easy to get around bus stop right outside so you can get to Yosemite National Park on the yarts bus great.
Review 122:Clean room, bathroom.Comfortable beds.
Review 123:Never saw staff; they left before we got there, but they left a note and unlocked door of unit. We left next day before they got in, so....
Review 124:Mariposa itself. Lovely, friendly, small town
