Reviews for America's Best Value Inn Mariposa Lodge
Review 1:I was a little paranoid there might have been bed bugs because the next morning I woke up with a nasty bite on my leg. And the jacuzzi wasn't even heated :(
Review 2:I loved how clean the room and bathroom were, I also felt very safe although I was in such a small town.
Review 3:Heater unit in room was really loud. Staying there in early January, the room was very cold but we couldn't run it at night otherwise we were unable to sleep.
Review 4:Location was good and staff friendly. They recommended a great place to eat just down the road. The room was clean and fine for a 2-star place.
Review 5:Cleanliness was poor, bottles left in shower from pervious occupants. Coffee machine dirty.
Review 6:Great location for catching YART into Yosemite, nearby restaurant Savourys very good, cafe just down road for breakfast. Fridge and microwave in room.
Review 7:We really liked the check in lady named Cheyanne. She was so helpful and welcoming...also, the beds and sheets were so comfortable, nice and soft. Good sized shower, everything very clean. Space heater worked great, too.
Review 8:The Mariposa lodge is in an excellent location right on the Main Street. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped and very clean. Highly recommended. We used it as a base for visiting Yosemite.
Review 9:They situate the customers so not everyone is right next door to you. The front desk people are friendly and personable. The rooms are always clean. It's perfect for me.
Review 10:The carpet in the room was filthy! My baby was crawling around and I realised his hands and knees were black from the floor! No travel cots available
Review 11:Large, comfortable room on Mariposa's main high street so near restaurants etc Bathroom clean Fridge and microwave in the room Fairly close to Yosemite National Park
Review 12:They had overbooked our room, so 'upgraded' us to one of the suites up the back of the property - yes there were 3 bedrooms (when we only needed one), but the decor was very out-dated and the beds were just as old. It wasn't a pleasant environment at all. It was the downstairs unit, and we could hear every word and feel every footstep of the people upstairs. It was a long walk to the pool too which was off-putting.
Review 13:The receptionist had almost zero local knowledge, when asked for local information, even where the tourist info was (which we found out was two blocks up the road!). The hotel should be clearly signed from outside, or renamed on this website to "Mariposa Lodge" with "American Best Value etc" given less prominence
Review 14:Bedding - lovely linen and bedding. Location - very well situated for restaurants in the main street, yet hardly any road noise
Review 15:Spacious rooms with newly renovated bathroom, clean. Mariposa itself is one of the few spots around Yosemite with a decent choice of restaurants and other facilities.
Review 16:"Spa" was a cold single person tub next to the outside pool. For the money the request the deliver nothing but a bed - that is overpriced. When checking-out I would have liked to talk to the lady at the reception on what I did not like. She was on the phone and waved me away - not so nice.
Review 17:Slept good. Less than 1h to YNP. Eating at 1850 is good.
Review 18:Wifi wasn't really working! For 150$ per night you'd expect at least some fresh fruits and cereal in the morning.
Review 19:Clean and next to the road. Rooms were big and beds really comfortable.
Review 20:Somewhat expensive.
Review 21:Location is sweet. In Mariposa, an old mining town perfectly situated before entering the Yosemite National Park. Beautiful and well-maintained lodge with lots of trees and flowers and large rooms.
Review 22:No breakfast
Review 23:Big, clean rooms. Room set up made you feel like you were at a small cottage and not a big box motel, which is a good thing. Small town charm and close to Yosemite
Review 24:NOTHING
Review 25:Well located to Yosemite (about 45 mins.) Breakfast at "Sugar Pine" was excellent along with dinner at "Charles Street Dinner House". And can't remember the ice cream shop but it was great. People in this little town were friendly & helpful.
Review 26:The WiFi is not great. Needs more sun loungers by the pool.
Review 27:It's a nice place, clean and in town. It's about 45mins from Yosemite national park. The pool area is small but then not many people use the pool.
Review 28:It was a bit difficult to locate ad we didn't know it's main sign said mariposa lodge.
Review 29:Pleasant staff and the location is in the middle of town.
Review 30:The Wifi worked only very slowly and it was better to use the data plan with the mobile phone, coverage here HSDPA. With the computer, it in the end it was possible to send out a big document by email though, but with a lot of patience.
Review 31:It was very clean, the staff was very friendly, the beds were comfy, for some people they might be a bit too soft. The pillows were great. Jumping into the pool, which is little but partly very deep, was super refreshing after a long day in the summer heat. Afterwards using the hot tub an excellent way to let the day go by.
Review 32:couldn't book anywhere in Yosemite itself as it was full so we tried Mariposa Lodge, being only an hour away from the National Park, and we were pleasantly surprised. it was a very comfortable stay indeed.
Review 33:Way to far to drive to yosemite! Thin walls heard everyone talking. Pool is the size of a hot tub. Beds not comfy. Way to $ for where you are and what they offer which is pretty much nothing.
Review 34:Cute if you are planning to stay in mariposa only.
Review 35:No breakfast. Three wifi spots for the hotel but none of them arrived to our room. Needed to go outside the room to check email.
Review 36:Great room with clean bathroom and comfy bed. Staff very helpful and located walking distance to all restaurants in Mariposa.
Review 37:The place smelled, the bathroom door barely closed, the walls were paper thin and you only didn't hear the other guests because the air conditioner was too loud. The carpets were disgustingly dirty and greasy. The beds were uncomfortable with thin sheets. The bathroom counter was worn through.
Review 38:The hummingbird at the gazebo.
Review 39:Spa was cold.
Review 40:Having two beds, a soft or a firm to choose from was great. The fridge had a freezer box and the receptionist was very helpful giving us the best place in town to eat.
Review 41:Nothing to dislike
Review 42:Front desk person assisted us in changing up to a 2-bedroom cottage when she learned we'd brought our teenage son. Showed us the actual place to help us decide.
Review 43:Wish they had breakfast, but Happy Burger down the street was a delight. Woman who checked us in had a real attitude. If I hadn't had a reservation I would have walked out.
Review 44:Room was great, location great,
Review 45:The hotel is central, clean and had the facilities I needed, a fridge and coffee making equipment. There is no breakfast with the room but practically next you can buy breakfast. All the staff were helpful and I had a very pleasant conversation with one of the Housekeepers. Thank you everyone.
Review 46:Servicing of room disappointing. (Did not expect to have to make our own bed). Bathroom tidied and trash removed OK. Heater noisy. Bathroom vent did not work. Expensive given the distance to Yosemite and King's Canyon.
Review 47:Clean, plenty of space, well located in Mariposa.
Review 48:The staff was great - the man at the check in was really kind and explained many practical details that every guest of Yosemite should know. It was helpful and useful. Location is perfect, if you plan to go to Yosemite valley and Mariposa groove - less 1 hour drive to both places. Room was clean, comfortable bed.
Review 49:Wish there was at least a continental breakfast offered.
Review 50:We are vendors at the annual Butterfly Festival in Mariposa CA. We have stayed at several different facilities, this one was the cleanest and our beds were great. Pillows were big, but could have been softer for me.
Review 51:You could hear noise from the adjoining room from people walking around. Internet was a little intermittent at times.
Review 52:Friendly staff. There was a little note from housekeeping to have a great stay. That was a nice touch which was appreciated.
Review 53:- Internet kept disconnecting
Review 54:- Check in was quick and easy - room was clean and comfortable. - parked right next to the room and unloaded the car easily - Located next to a number of good restaurants - Price was great for three day weekend
Review 55:The only thing I could say, is I wish there had been extra blankets. The heater going off & on kept waking my husband, so if there had been extra blankets, I would have much more comfortable.
Review 56:The room was very clean & bright. It was centrally located.
Review 57:The wifi connection was not very good. I was able to connect only sometimes with my PC but never with my phone. But maybe that was good to keep me away from work distractions.
Review 58:The location, the large room, the staff. We used this as a base for daily visits to Yosemite and it was great (about 1hour drive from the lodge).
Review 59:Right downtown mariposa, excellent mattress and down bedding. Could hear a bit the road although on side of complex. There was some maintenance work going on, woke up with a compressor noise. Other than that, simple, met our needs. Unfortunately no breakfast available. Diner next door serves a fabulous breakfast but one need time to be served... mariposa slow.
Review 60:None
Review 61:The location was just perfect for us after visiting the Yosemite Park and before heading the west California. Restaurants and stores were nearby. Only need to drop the room keys to a box to check out.
Review 62:Internet was very slow, patience is required. No breakfast included, but try café just down road, after Subway same side of road!
Review 63:Good price and facilities were good for money. Great location for stop over if heading for Yosemite. Checkout Charles Street Diner for great meal and Mariposa's local gift shops.
Review 64:The room had very poor WiFi connection, and as I did not have connection all day at Yosemite park, I really needed the Wifi to work. The motel receptionist was understanding and tried to help, but there was nothing much to do, it is a the town location issue. I also think the room should have a glass or something you can use in the Macrowave, but I learned my lesson and I bring it with me to hotels now (:
Review 65:Liked the location, it was in the middle of Mariposa, a small town, it had a nice diner to have breakfast just next door, and in walk distance a fule station where you can buy some stuff. The YARTS bus station from Yosemite and back is justin front of the motel. Room was nice. No major issues.
Review 66:Very easy registration and staff was very helpful with recommendations for services in town. Very nice location and room was spacious and quiet. In for an overnight on the way to Yosemite and it was just what was needed.
Review 67:Poor wifi - had to sit outside office to access this. Fittings and in room facilities very tired. Had to stay near Yosemite but little choce of accommodation.
Review 68:Room very large.
Review 69:The quality of the Wi-Fi wasn't always satisfactory. We would have appreciated to have breakfast (but the Sugar Pine Cafe right down the street is a very good place).
Review 70:The room was big and clean with two queen-size beds (we would have preferred a king-size bed). The housekeeping staff was good and attentive. The hotel staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The position in the town is very good because all the restaurants are at walking distance. However it takes an hour to reach Yosemite Village. Overall we were satisfied.
Review 71:- 1,5 h drive to Yosemite. For half day hikes it's ok. If you plan an hike longer than 3-4 h you should choose a Lodge near the Park. - check-in not possible before 3 pm
Review 72:+ friendly staff + quite location + Happy Burger round the corner + good WiFi connection
Review 73:WiFi didn't for me at all And they didn't have options for breakfast, you'll have to go somewhere else.
Review 74:Location and comfort, just perfect.
Review 75:The location was perfect and the facilities just right. Ideally located opposite a superb restaurant and adjacent to an excellent diner that took care of breakfast.
Review 76:the coffee / tea making was in bathroom??? there was enough space in room to have bench near the little table and chairs in room. Plus the light was hanging too low over the table. bumped head!
Review 77:beautiful big room, friendly and helpful staff. easy walk to shops in town
Review 78:The drive from yosemite at night had us stuck behind a very slow vehicle oft half an hour but that was bad luck.
Review 79:The room was comfortable and there were good restaurants nearby. Better value for money than hotels closer to yosemite.
Review 80:A little bit thin wall- but that's not a big problem- i fell asleep pretty quickly after a tiring day in YNP!
Review 81:For those who dont live inside Yosemite National Park, this is a good place to choose: walking distance to some restaurants, close to a gas station, not far from the park, and easy to find.
Review 82:WiFi is almost inexistent. The receptionist apologised in advance and explained they already subscribed to 4 Internet connections and it still doesn't work.
Review 83:A good place to spend the night and get to Yosemite early in the morning. Small town with a few restaurants and gas stations.
Review 84:Mariposalodge is 40 miles from Yosemite Valley so it was an 80+ miles return trip to see the park's main attractions.
Review 85:Convenience of location. Adequacy & cleanliness of the accomodation. Good choice of nearby cafés, bars & restaurants.
Review 86:Better if the hotel had a kitchen to order food, beds too soft, coffee machine in the toilet is not hygienic
Review 87:Location, quietness, heavy blinds to block out the sun for sleeping in, friendly check in staff, spacious rooms, free wifi, good eating recommendations, free glass of wine from the restaurant next door, best meal of the trip from restaurant next door.
Review 88:No breakfast Swimming pool was very small and had only a few chairs Close to the road
Review 89:Great location in Mariposa - can walk to many restaurants and shops Big room very clean
Review 90:Wifi hardly worked and was a little expensive
Review 91:What a great town! Nice clean safe feeling place with a small but fine pool. Near town centre. Not too far to Yosemite
Review 92:The swimming pool was tiny and not really useful The air con was necessary but was incredibly loud
Review 93:The location, not too far from Yosemite The diner in the town which was excellent The burger bar in the town also very good
Review 94:The Wifi was shocking, the pool was always really crowded and it was all very dated. We didn't feel particularly safe here due to the door not fitting well.
Review 95:I'm afraid to say the only thing we liked was the breakfast at the Sugar Cafe. It was clean, I'll give it that much.
Review 96:Lovely large clean room with 2 double beds, good sized bathroom and a small fridge. The air conditioner was excellent, as it was (as always here in summer) a boiling hot day. The aircon also helped to drown out the noise of all the children enjoying the pool. Would recommend to stay here
Review 97:Noisy air conditioning
Review 98:Centrally located with good restaurants within short walking distance. Staff very helpful and informative. Very clean and spacious room with large, comfortable bed. Car parking close to rooms.
Review 99:Some quirky things (i.e. coffee maker and fridge not working, etc..) No fan in the bathroom
Review 100:Attentiveness and courtesy of the staff Room cleanliness Location
Review 101:The only draw back really was its distance from Yosemite - 40 to 45 mins - not a big deal, but tiring if you return after sunset, on dark winding roads. Wifi was a bit poor too, but its free at local cafe's so again, not a major issue.
Review 102:Everyone who comes to Yosemite is there for the outdoors (certainly in summer) and so all we needed was a clean quiet place to use as a base. In fact the rooms are spacious, parking was easy, the front desk staff were ever present and helpful. I really liked Mariposa itself - nice little restaurants and diners, and a pleasant feel to this small tourist town.
Review 103:A bit expensive. Wild have been gest with a breakfast option. Maybe there is one?
Review 104:Nice place, Classic motell set up. Easy to get bags into room. Large room.
Review 105:They were so gracious as we got there a bit early and were hoping to drive on up to Yosemite for the evening. Gave us great information, let us in our room early, could not have been kinder or more helpful!
Review 106:the place the hotel is located in is creepy. no breakfast at the hotel, but there are near places where you can eat. 1 hour drive from Yosemite.
Review 107:OK place to stay if you don't want to stay in Yosemite. pretty clean.
Review 108:Mariposa is a nice city equipped with excellent restaurants. You will have many choices. The townpicture compensates the relatively Long drive to the park centre. Good place to stay.
Review 109:Beds not comfortable, staff at the desk not professional, very cold and did not give a good feeling, noise from the road, far from yosemiti park in case you stay few days
Review 110:It was clean
Review 111:Advertised as pet friendly but, there was no pet area. I had to find an empty lot my across the main street in Mariposa for my dog to do his business. Also, we were put in a smaller and less nice room due to having a pet.
Review 112:Good location. Nice, large rooms. Friendly staff. Allowed pets.
Review 113:I gave up on trying to get wireless coverage. This was disappointing because my cellular was also not available in this area.
Review 114:The room was spacious. No continental breakfast, but there were many good eating places nearby.
Review 115:All good for a 2 day stay... The pool was a bit small but what can you do... Not laps. But everybody respected their space.
Review 116:It was clean, good value for money I the Center of town and the staff were really helpful. Would recommend and return.
Review 117:In the web page the hotel says it has wifi in all the establishment. It is false. No wifi at all in the rooms and bad connection in reception. I spent an hour trying to connect per the staff indications in different places of the hotel And wifi does not work. Only two minutes in reception And I couldn't take a look for something important. Air conditioning makes a lot of noise. It is impossible to sleep The bed is too soft. Uncomfortable.
Review 118:It is not far from Yosemite
Review 119:Reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful.Rooms poor doors did not lock and 1 had an unpleasant smell.Wifi worked intermittently.Expensive and not good value for money,Paid for 2 nights but left after 1 !
Review 120:Overall an unpleasant experience
Review 121:Value-for-the-money ratio is not so good, a bit too expensive for what you get.
Review 122:Both receptionists were very nice and friendly. Good rooms with good beds. If you are in the back of property it is quiet.
Review 123:Couldn't book for 2nd night as it was sold out. Need to book a month ahead in high season
Review 124:Location of this motel is great if you couldn't book hotel in Yosemite Valley. Clean and comfortble rooms, silent place where we could have a rest after trip.
Review 125:No continental breakfast. Front desk staff was sort of clueless on questions about the area, etc.
Review 126:The grounds were nicely landscaped and the rooms comfortable and clean. The drive to Yosemite is a beautiful, winding and scenic road. It takes about an hour to get into Yosemite, but we enjoyed the drive. Gorgeous country!
Review 127:Reasonably priced, clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, main purpose of trip was to explore Yosemite so a good location if you can't get reasonable rooms inside the park and can't/won't pay the higher prices there.
Review 128:The location was excellent and walking distance from everything in town.
Review 129:Close to coffe's, restaurants, shops and bus stop to Yosemite Park.
Review 130:bad wifi. no NBA channel.
Review 131:service, cleanliness, location.
Review 132:The internet is quite slow and the shower isn't the best
Review 133:The staff are very nice. The room is clean, warm, and big.
